Sonny's Backyard is a cozy vegan-friendly bar that serves up tasty eats, local brews, and live music in a chill outdoor setting—perfect for late-night hangs.
"Sunny’s in East Austin is more like a giant patio with an attached bar than the other way around, which makes it an especially great spot during the few months of the year when it's pleasant outside. There's usually a rotating food truck parked on site to ensure you never have to drink your draft ranch water unaccompanied. photo credit: Richard Casteel" - Nicolai McCrary
"This fun East Side bar is capitalizing on its name by becoming Paddy's Pub, the hangout from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. There are photo booths and a themed menu with seven cocktails (like Frank's Trash Can Marg and Rum Ham Punch), a few shots, and a little illustration of Danny DeVito's face. If you get hungry, R&B's Steak and Fries is parked here for the month. When: October 2-31 " - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs
"The East Austin vegan bar’s menu includes several hot cocktails, including a bunch of toddies, such as the classic with earl grey tea and whiskey; another with scotch and camomile tea, a mezcal version, and a chai and oat milk one. There’s also boozy hot chocolates with bourbon. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Nadia Chaudhury
"For the last few weeks of the year, Sunny’s turns its tiny bar on East 7th (with a giant patio) into a holiday-themed one. There’s a small menu of drink specials, and a fully decked-out interior, plus you’ll have access to the usual kitchen menu of vegan pub food most nights. When: Nov 18 - Dec 31" - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"The vegan East Austin pub is hosting a holiday pop-up again this year. Expect hot and cold drinks like boozy hot chocolate with oat milk, a chai toddy, and milk and cookies. There’s also excellent vegan food options and so much tinsel. There are indoor and outdoor areas." - Erin Russell
