Sunnyside Greenmarket

This is a small market but it's got all the essentials (fruit, veggies, baked goods, meat) and the location, with a playground right there, is awesome. There's even a neighborhood book swap with a huge selection.

Sunnyside is so lucky to have this market! I look forward to going every Saturday

Lots of quality and friendly farmers. A bit pricy, but reasonable - that’s what farmers markets are like these days so not a big deal for us. Lovely atmosphere and family/dog friendly. Love you can also bring compost here.

Cute market with good vibes~ The people shopping around were respectful and seemed friendly. The different farms/shops all had lots to choose from and all the workers were very welcoming. The only down side is that it doesn’t feel like much variety and the shops are minimal. Would be nice if they could expand but it’s still nice

I love visiting this farmers market on Saturday mornings! They have basically all the staples you might be looking for- fruits and veggies, herbs, fresh flowers, milk, eggs, cheese, meat, baked goods and bread, cider, honey. One could easily satisfy all their food needs in one trip here. They used to have a compost drop off and textile recycling program which I utilized often, but it's temporarily on hold due to the pandemic. I hope they bring it back soon!

a year around market that offers wide variety of apples. Overall they have good products whenever they have. One thing that you can not miss at this place is apples. they have it year around. It is a bit pricey though but the overall quality of the stuff is very very good.

A great place to get fresh produce, dairy, fish, meat, or bread. There is a wide range of products and all of the vendors are very nice. Definitely the play to go for delicious, farm-fresh food!

Very nice market that has enough variety and fresh produce, pies, ciders, etc. Everyone is kind, the park is nice and the prices are very reasonable.

The Sunnyside Greenmarket is open all year, every Saturday, from 8 AM to 2 or 3 PM, depending on the season. On the day I visited, there were about 10-12 vendors from NY, NJ, and beyond, and the majority of them were farms offering produce. I did a little comparison shopping, and prices between them were pretty similar. There were free samples here and there too. And the selections varied so they weren't all selling the exact same tomatoes and greens. Besides fruits and veggies, I spotted baked goods, honey, dairy products, and meat. One cool thing about this particular Greenmarket is that there was a book swap and a composting station too. The layout is tight. All the vendors are in a row along the sidewalk, and they take up most of the sidewalk so at times you have to dodge other people, children, bikes, strollers, and dogs. Speaking of dogs, there's a dog run in the adjacent park. Of course, I ended up buying/spending too much, but it was well worth it for the delicious fresh local ingredients!

Small market with a rotation of vendors. Overall very, very expensive. Produce $2/lb more than any store, small veg quiche $15, etc. Great in theory, but hard to support in reality, when there are still plenty of shops in the neighborhood owned by locals. In the winter, most vendors were clearing out by about 1-2pm.

It is a very small Greenmarket but it is enough. Mostly vegetables and fruit. Prices are expensive. Different vendors come at different times. So sometimes the honey guy is there, sometimes the egg guy is there and sometimes not. It is a pleasant way to spend an hour. Get there early because the vendors leave well before 3pm. They sell potted herbs that look much healthier than the same sold at Home Depot. There is a free book exchange stall on the corner. Also a kind of flea market stand on 23rd st. Hopefully, that little area will attract more sellers. Caveat : the greenmarket hours are supposed to be until 3pm. If you get there at 2pm, the vendors are packing up and loading their trucks and by 2.30pm half the vendors are gone. Be there by 1pm if you want to shop.

This greenmarket has a good variety of vendors including multiple produce shops and some stores with dairy products. It's obviously smaller than the market in Union Square, but it's less crowded and easy to navigate. Coming from Astoria, I'd have to go down to Queensboro to transfer to the 7 train, and the walk from the station to the market feels a bit long. But it's a great way to spend a sunny morning in the weekend!

I went here yesterday, mid-morning, with my friend's family who wanted to "show me around" the old neighborhood. There were produce, cheese, meat, fish, and bakery stands. Cute. The cheese stand offered samples. . . great! I'd go back to check it out again, if I lived close-by. It's worth the curiosity and spontaneity. By the way, I bought organic apple cider, goat cheese, cookies, and biscotti. Since I did food shopping earlier in the week, I didn't buy anything else. (There would be no room in the refrigerator or pantry, if I did.)

Outstanding farmers' market!!! Why shop in a supermarket where they have tasteless fruit and vegetables when you can buy the freshest fruits and vegetables here!! The sweetest cantaloupes and stone fruit you have ever tasted from Pennsylvania. The best pasture raised chicken (and eggs), beef, pork, duck and pink veal. Outstanding fruit pies and chicken pot pies with crusts like mom used to make. Tomatoes that will make your next batch of sauce asking for your recipe. Support these wonderful farmers who travel hours to bring you THE best fruits, vegetables, meats and desserts you could ask for. Want lettuce that is truly fresh - get it here. Winter will be here soon. What are you waiting for???!!!!! Although fresh fruit is not available year-round, this market is open year-round. Take the time to check it out. Bring a friend/neighbor with you. You will be so happy that you did!!! Accessible by car or train.

Nothing too crazy here (not the Union square sort of greenmarket) but still useful with meat, cheese, fish, baked goods, and whatever local and fresh produce available. I bought a piece of fresh sword fish, tomatoes, cucumbers, 2 jars of pickles, and gorgeous radishes. Looking into going back next week!

It's a small, cute Greenmarket that pops up every Saturday, offering a variety of fruits and vegetables, breads and even a winery vendor. My only caution would be to not buy the eggs here...mainly because the quality of the "organic" eggs are similar to your regular store bought and I am not sure why the mark-up in price is warranted. All in all - a great supplement to the neighborhood's food and produce offerings.

I may be a little biased bout this market because its only 4 blocks away, but I do love it. I wish it was open longer. It's not the biggest but it has everything you need. Tons of fruits and veggies plus your meats and fish. You can even buy wine. Plus if you keep your food waste you can bring it and drop it off to get composted. You don't get to keep but they distribute it to different farms and restaurants that use it. All the vendors are very friendly and knowledgeable about their products and will tell you their favorite recipes to use their stuff in. If you live in Sunnyside this is a must stop for your veggies

Fantastic. Great market. Fresh right in from the local farms. The bakeries that set up shop here every Saturday is out if this world. Try. ... You will love it. Fresh fish sold here as well. Fresh turkey products. Wineries from lLong Island and you can sample there wines. Hurra. Does not get any better than this. A great addition to the otherwise popular Sunnyside neighborhood of Querns. I love local farmers markets. This one is pricey and small. I wish there was more Of a selection. The fresh baked breads are delicious but again very over priced. I bought a small loaf of wheat bread and a flat bread for $9 bucks. They also had blueberries for $5 a pint, it's blueberry season and there is no reason to pay that much for blueberries even if they are organic!

I feel very lucky to have this Greenmarket just a block away from me. It is small compared to say, the Union Square Greenmarket, but it is very nice. In addition to the usual produce, there are baked goods, honey, eggs, fish, meat and cheese. The produce is usually very good. The fish is excellent, the freshest you can find. It's nice to be able to shop outdoors in the fresh air while walking your dog as well, instead of having to bring them home and go back to the store. This weekend I got some terrific flounder and served it with a nice tomato salad and some freshly baked bread, and it was just perfect. We have decent supermarkets in the area and access to all of the food delivery services, but this is an enjoyable way to get fresh local ingredients.

I moved to Sunnyside last year and have been visiting the Market and I am highly recommending it as they have fresh produce and everyone is very sweet and catering! Love it!

Although it has a limited number of stands, there is a great selection of produce and fruit. There are usually two produce stands, an apple stand with various other treats, a fruit stand, a bread and baked goods stand, and a fish stand. The stand that sells apples has the best honey-crisps I've ever had and they make phenomenal ginger snap cookies. Everyone working there is very friendly, and there are not the same crowds of pushy people as the Union Square market. A nice gathering of fresh high quality food in the neighborhood. Only reason it's not five stars is the lack of a meat selection.

I am so, so, so grateful for this Greenmarket. It's closer to my apartment than the Astoria market, and it generally has a variety of food for sale that truly belies its small size. I've been to other small Greenmarkets in the city that haven't had nearly the variety. They added a winery and a cheesemaker this past year, and I spent much of the summer trying out their different products. They also occasionally have some of the smaller farmers who are just starting out; I like to support those stands when I can. And no matter which stand I've visited, the produce has been fresh and long-lasting. I deeply enjoy talking to the farmers and workers who come to this market; walking over and selecting my food for the week is often the highlight of my Saturday. They're doing good things at this Greenmarket: They accept EBT, which is an awesome way to get fresh, healthy food into the hands of those who often need it most, and an essential service to provide in such an economically diverse area. And they compost, so you can save your scraps from the week before and bring them back the next week, if you don't want to compost in your apartment. The thing is, I just really, really, REALLY wish this market ran year-round. Right now, the only Queens Greenmarket which is open year-round is the Jackson Heights market, which isn't as easy to get to, and hasn't always had the same sort of high-quality produce which I've come to expect at Sunnyside. If the Sunnyside market were open year-round, it would be 5-stars for sure. As it stands, I spend not only all winter but also much of the spring scrounging for quality locally-grown food, and whining to all and sundry about it, after months of having been totally spoiled by this awesome seasonal market. Queens deserves more local food. I shouldn't have to brave the territorial attitude of the typical Union Square Greenmarket shopper just to eat well, right?

not a star in the farmers market map but a small solid market with a few great vendors, great for water buffalo meat and fish, good for vegetables and meat, poor for baked goods and fruits

The market is ok. More of a place to buy some gifts than get staples for the week. What we use is the compost and textile recycling. Check the hours on the website since textile recycling is not year round and composting is mostly in the morning.

Happened upon it near the parks/playgrounds and found the usual NYC Greenmarket suspects in April.

I only wish the market was here more than once a week. Market is small but has not only a wonderful selection of fresh produce, fish, meat, eggs, fresh flowers and plants and baked goods. They even compost for the neighborhood - something I've been wanting to do. The size makes it a quick, pleasant experience. I only wish it was there more than once a week.

A decent market. Not too large but you can find all the seasonal produce you could hope to find. Like most farmers markets in the city, the prices are nothing to write home about but the produce is usually great. I like to go to a farmers market to get something unique, like the purple pepper I picked up, or the purple kale that when I turned around was gone and I couldn't buy :(. There are usually a few farms and a few bakeries, some local seafood and meat. Everything I've had so far is yummy
