"What To Get: Superdawg, Whoopskidawg, sundae. What To Know: This old-school drive-in (where you order into a speaker from your car) opened in 1948. The giant plastic hot dogs on top of the restaurant represent the original owners, Maurie and Flaurie Berman." - adrian kane, john ringor, nick allen, veda kilaru
"Superdawg remains a true 1950s-style drive-in with carhop service—the wait staff will hook a tray carrying all of your food onto the edge of your car window. Pull up to any carport, place an order for hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and milkshakes through the speakerbox, and blast your favorite John Mellencamp song—we’ll overlook the fact that it’s playing from Spotify. Aside from the charming nostalgia, the great hot dogs are really what solidified this Norwood Park spot as an institution since 1948." - veda kilaru, john ringor, adrian kane
"You don’t see the physical Superdawg in Norwood Park, but that's who caters the breakup party Carmy and Claire go to. It’s an A+ food choice, but the dogs are even better at the actual restaurant, an old-fashioned drive-in that’s been around since 1948. Pull up to any carport, place an order through the retro menu/speaker box in front of you, and the staff will come out and hook a tray onto the edge of your car window. Plus, there is a giant plastic hot dog couple on top of the building. They kind of look like Carmy and Claire." - adrian kane, nick allen
"Superdawg is one of the most iconic places to get a Chicago dog, retaining its retro style and rooftop mascots Flaurie and Maurie since 1948. The restaurant can be spotted in the montage that opens Episode 7 of Season 1 and its hot dogs and fries are seen in their signature boxes at the party in Episode 5 of Season 2. The restaurant also has an outpost in suburban Wheeling." - Ashok Selvam
"The only drive-in restaurant remaining in Chicago is also an iconic institution. Maurie and Flaurie — two gigantic hot dog statues atop Superdawg — invite customers in for a retro experience. The menu offers burgers, sausages, and fried delights; the namesake Superdawg, a Chicago-style hot dog served with crinkle-cut fries, is the move here. Staff bring the food out to the cars (there’s an indoor dining room as well) so it’s worth a visit just for the novelty. There’s a second location in Wheeling." - Jeffy Mai
