Great spot for pizza and beer in La Mesa. Other then a little to pricey for 2 slices of pizza. Service was great. Beer was cold. And I really enjoyed the decor!

A slice with style, but not much soul Surf Rider’s pepperoni slice walks the walk—crispy crust with beautiful char, thin enough to fold like a pro. But once you get past the snap, there’s not much left to chew on—literally or figuratively. The flavor is good—balanced sauce, decent cheese, pepperoni that pulls its weight—but it all feels a little hollow. There’s no depth, no real richness. It’s a slice that shows up dressed well, but doesn’t stay for the conversation. I respect the craft of a thin crust, but this one borders on brittle. For the price, I was hoping for something that lingered longer on the palate—and in my memory.

All right, I have to be honest, I'm between 3 and 4 stars on this place. The pizza was great! Nice thin crust , an even layer of toppings that had great flavor and the pizza held up well when picked up! We had the Surf Rider pizza and let me tell you, the amount of garlic on this pizza is not for the faint-hearted!! It was delicious, nice and roasted and melted in your mouth but it had a ton of garlic on it!! We love wings and we're so anxious to try them, we got the plain dirty wings with blue cheese. First of all, these wings are extremely puffy, they later told me that they are first baked and then fried which made them puff up in almost a spongy way. We did not enjoy them at all unfortunately. The green sauce was tasty and had a nice jalapeno zing to it, but the blue cheese was lacking in flavor. We grabbed some garlic knots and those were very tasty with a very flavorful marinara sauce to dip them in. We also decided to try a swell cookie and opted for the Blonde Rocky road. This was unlike any cookie I have ever had, it seems like maybe they fold egg whites into their batter. They were more of a light and crisp cookie, it tasted good but was not my favorite. We would definitely go back for pizza, garlic knots and their wonderful assortment of beer! Atmosphere was also very cool, we sat inside as it was a chilly night, but they provide nice patios with heaters!

Google
Great pizza! I really enjoyed the GOAT. this was during the LA Mesa Octoberfest and it was a blast. My only issue is that the TVs are old and foggy and need some modern updates to see better. Other than that it was a great meal and Padre game.

Google
Great toppings, horrible crust. I'll be back when they announce they have changed their pizza dough recipe. We went here as a family, and each had two slices. Sadly, no one liked the pizza. Even the cheese pizza tasted off. One of my slices was crunchy and had a cardboard like flavor. The other was slightly soggy and not much flavor. Not sure why the big differences in crust (stale?). I had high hopes for this place, but I definitely won't be back for seconds. *1 star for service. Not that anyone was rude. But waiting to order in a line, then not knowing the names of all the pizzas because they are around the corner from the register, was frustrating. Also, asking for an 18% - 22% tip when you pay, when all they do is put your pizza in the oven to warm it up, then take it out and put it on the counter to be picked up, isn't exactly my definition of service. Also, I'm not a fan of dogs in restaurants. Especially when the food workers are petting the dog, then going back to work without washing up. It's just not sanitary.

Direct quotes from my kids: “This is the best pizza ever!” “This is really good.” This place is hopping, one of the most friendly and busiest restaurants in downtown Historic La Mesa. Likely because of the fun atmosphere, reasonable prices and family friendly decor. It really was the busiest and most popular place on the night of the 2022 street winter festival. The pizza is decent. It’s thin crust, and uses fresh ingredients. We ordered take out in order to eat on the street during the winter festival. I was told 30-35 minutes for food preparation, but it wasn’t done for over 45 min - they were BUSY. Unfortunately, they gave me the entirely wrong pizza when I picked up my order. We had waited so long we chose to eat it anyways, but we did go back to let them know. They thanked us for letting them know and cooked a replacement immediately, about another 10 minutes. They made a mistake, but were quick to correct it. Too bad it took so long to make the first pizza…but the correction was made. I believe they just mistakenly swapped pizzas with another order. We also tried their Greek salad, which was great and the dirty wings- one of my daughters thought the chicken was incredible. It was tasty. It’s a fun restaurant. Your family will enjoy it.

Google
Really neat, fun and colourful decor throughput in a family friendly setting that easily stands out in downtown La Mesa. Staff is friendly and the variety of delicious pies by the slice is plentiful. You also have a generous selection of desserts at the bakery counter! And what pizza place with it's weight dough wouldn't serve beer? Not Surf Rider! Their well stocked bar serves no less than 12 brews on tap, many of them from local breweries, including one of my favorites Thorn Street's Coconut Porter! I highly recommend Surf Rider!

Alexis Garcia

Google
Update: pizza was crisp and toppings are odd but good. Not saying it was bad with my first read, if anything best spot on the strip. A little overpriced, but the whole strip in downtown la mesa is overpriced. At least it isn't a gentrified copy of culture food so no bad comparisons.

Yelp
Surf rider pizza is worth all the hype! They have options for everyone and their slices are huge! Pro tip: if you come during close, they sometimes do deals for two slices and a drink at a discount! I love that they serve drinks and deserts as well. The surf rider is my favorite. There is parking in front and around the downtown area.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere Good pizza Good salad Delish Definitely will be back!!!! Got me some free stickers too!!!

Yelp
The pizza was good, nothing special to it. Their Margherita pizza could use a bit more basil. We got the chicken wings as well which were crispy, but bland. I'm usually quite forgiving when it comes to pizza, so I was willing to give it another chance, but I was kind of turned off with the service. The FOH staff, particularly the cashiers acted annoyed the whole time. Granted it was our first time, so we were kind of taking our time deciding, but all she had to do was help us out. It's not like there was a line after us. Also, it would be better if they call our names or numbers when our pizza is ready.

Andrew G.

Yelp
I like this place. Down town La Mesa is a cool place to wander around. It can be rough to find parking. Surf Rider pizza has a few vegetarian slices in the case to choose from. Service is fast and the place was clean. The pizza itself was good. It's not my favorite in the area but it is delicious and it is a better dining experience some of my other favorite pizza places.

Yelp
*DOORDASH/TAKE OUT* I did take out but everything was delicious not too salty really great food my family and I really loved it will be coming here again definitely! The price was pretty standard I feel for a wonderful local spot!

Laura M.

Yelp
I've been here before. The last time I've visited this place, our pizza was for take- out. Tonight, it was my first dining experience! Brought my boyfriend here for his first visit. My boyfriend ordered a slice of chicken, bacon and garlic pizza and I ordered a slice of BBQ Chicken pizza. In my opinion their slices of pizza are big enough to be full on one slice.. They had served our food fast and it was nice to sit by the bar. Good music and Good Vibes!! We had excellent service!!

Nina S.

Yelp
Came here on a whim cause my friends and I were craving pizza, and boy was this place a hit! They had my favorite, hot honey pizza! (the G.O.A.T Pie). We also tried their classic The Surf Rider (white sauce, roasted garlic, gorgonzola, roma tomatoes & fresh basil) and we absolutely loved it! You can order a whole pie or by the slice, and the deals were very reasonable! The crust was thin and perfectly crunchy and the mix of flavors were absolutely delicious. The covered Patio area on the side was a nice beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the vibes while munching on your pizza. If you're ever in the Dt La Mesa area, I highly highly recommend this place. They not only have free parking in the area on Sunday's but it's just a nice area overall!

Yelp
Come to the La Mesa Farmer's Market and get ready to enjoy a family-fun experience! This is a great place to bring anyone special and even a date too! I decided to try "Surfrider Pizza" right on the main drag on La Mesa Boulevard at the LMFM. There is a significant and creative selection of pizza available to choose from your eyes will be widened upon gazing at all the varieties! I chose the Basil Pesto Ricatta sliced pizza. The pizza crust is fresh, non greasy, and packed with so much flavor! The sauce is homemade, fresh, flavorful, and outstanding! I inhaled it in a minutes or two because it is the best pizza ever! You have to try it to understand! They have a great menu to include sandwiches wings, fresh salads, garlic knots, meat pies, veggie pies, Stromboli's and calzones, and of course pizza by the slice! If you desire dessert, they offer gigantic cookies of all flavors which I hear are superb! I unfortunately had to pass since I am big into fitness and need to stay on my regimen, but pizza by the slice was eating with no guilt! They also have a great selection of beer and wine for the discerning palette! There is upbeat music playing in the background to make it happy and lively. The staff is so helpful and friendly! Debbie, one of the front-house servers with a beautiful smile was extremely helpful, friendly, and professional! She is a breath of fresh air! I wish there were more servers like her because she makes the dining experience very pleasant! She has the makings of management if she so desires that! I asked Debbie if I could talk to her manager to inform them how delicious the food was and to recognize her too! So, Steven the Chef Manager came out to talk to me and receive my gratitude about how much I love it here! I will be back and back and back here! Grab everything on the menu! Go now to try "Surfrider Pizza!"

Yelp
After walking past Surf Rider Pizza for the past couple years now, we FINALLY stumbled upon LUNCH here and let me tell you right now-- we have been missing out ! First off, Surf Rider is located in Downtown La Mesa, so there's plenty of metered street parking or even neighborhood parking . We also learned that they have a small private parking lot in the back which is super convenient. We stopped by on a random Wednesday afternoon and it was pretty empty with just a few groups sitting out in the patio as well . We placed our order and easily found a shaded table . Customer service was ordinary, we weren't expecting much from a pay first, then sit down type of place . Our food took about 10 minutes or so, and a kind busser brought our food to us-- here's what we had: GARLIC KNOTS: Yes, they were fresh . Yes, they were fluffy . I was hoping for a bit more as these babies are displayed as the first thing you see when you walk in. (I was thinking maybe fresh garlic butter brushed on top would give you a "wow" factor)--- but, it was just served dry with a marinara sauce . Nothing extraordinary, but it does satisfy your carb-ey dreams ! PLAIN WINGS W/ HONEY SRIRACHA AND BUFFALO SAUCE ON THE SIDE: Absolutely loved how crispy and naked the wings are ! Im not really a fan of battered wings, so these were up my alley . The wings were mid-sized and juicy on the inside . The honey sriracha sauce reminded me of an elevated sweet chili sauce and the buffalo sauce was nice and creamy . Would totally come back just for the wings !! MT. HELIX THIN CRUST PIZZA: We originally didn't order any pizza, but later decided we NEEDED to try just one lol . So, hubby went down and got the most popular kind, and it happened to be The Mt Helix, which is like a meat-lovers . This was soooo tasty-- it was thin, with a nice crisp on the bottom . It had charred pepperoni, smokey Canadian bacon, and Italian sausage; Im not even a meat-lover pizza type of girl, but this was pretty fire ! DIRTY CHEESESTEAK: This was good, but pretty basic . Steak, cheese, and grilled onions . We opted for dirty sauce on the side-- it definitely gets spicier, the more you keep eating it; It was giving me jalapeño spice vibes, and I was here for it . I wish the bread it was served in was more fluffier and toasted . Candy IPA was our fave brew of the day-- light, crisp, and YESSS It has a slightly sweet undertone . SOOO GOOD if you love hazy IPA's . Overall, we really enjoyed our time here . The environment is fun and inviting . The food and drinks were pleasant . I would love to be back to try their other pizzas and maybe just to watch the game and sip on some brews during happy hour ! Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area !

Yelp
Ok. Three things. 1. The pizza is good. Not like "wow this is so amazing" but good. 2. The wings are not so great. Better than dominos but not better than Wing stop or Epic. A little on the softer side if that's your thing. 3. The cookies are delicious. As far as the Rockie Road cookie, possibly best cookie I've ever had. My issue, I just realized we paid close to $8 for it. Like Wut. Would I buy it again? Probably. I would go here on a day we want to splurge eat, or just eat out because at this point we're in San Diego and everything is expensive. Ambiance is chill, nice little area, parking is meh. Oh and there's beer which I don't drink so shall not comment but my family and friends dig it. Solid place.

Kimberly E.

Yelp
My husband and I love this place. I love the fact you can buy by the slice or get a whole pizza. There are so many variations of pizza. Today we tried the garlic knots as well and those were bomb. The service is always great and speedy and a ton of seating. I love the beach vibe here. I've been meaning to try their huge cookies but I'm always so full lol. Next time for sure :)

Ron O.

Yelp
Tonight was a miss. The pizza missed the mark. Usually the pizza is pretty ok but not tonight. See in the photo how one slice has very little on it. Very disappointed. I put up with the over pricing because it's decent pizza usually...but when you serve a slice that's half empty, well that's a party foul.

Jim D.

Yelp
This place had me at the garlic knots, my mistake was ordering three, opt-in for the six or eight quantities. I'll definitely be back for the garlic knots and Calzone. The Calzone was big enough to feed two adults. Fresh and Hot from the oven, owey guwey, and a ton of cheese to pull apart from every meal. This place has a great outdoor seating setup where you can see the foot traffic and get some vitamin D. What we enjoyed the most about this place is you can taste the freshness in the bread in the sandwiches, the garlic knots and the pizza. For logistics, one side of the counter you order the garlic knots and the other side you order the pizza, sandwiches and drinks. This all funnels into the same cashier when you pay for your order. I cannot remember if there were TVs, we went on a raining Friday night when they have the Farmers Market on the main strip so get there early on Friday to get a decent parking spot. Executive summary: Service: 5/5 Flavor: 5/5 Real estate for groups: 5/5 Drink menu: 5/5 Flavor: 4/5 Parking: Street, first come first serve, there is a metered parking lot on the other side of the street

Mazy B.

Yelp
There are so many excellent reasons to love this place: Their pies are simply incredible. The shop is in cute downtown La Mesa. The prices are fair for what you're getting. My favorite is the Mt Helix, which is pepperoni, sausage, and ham. They have a deal for 2 slices & a drink for $12. It's really not bad when you consider the quality of ingredients & portions. If pizza isn't your jam, they also serve wings, calzones, and salads. Which are also very good & fresh, with good quality also. They also make cookies in house that are a good treat. They have craft local beers on tap, which also pair well with the slices. My favorite aspect of the food is the fact that I'm able to support a small business that provides a great product & value. Very clean & spacious shop, with plenty of places to sit & come with family/friends.

Katrina P.

Yelp
Our favorite place to get slices in La Mesa! There are lots of tables indoors and outdoors that are great for families and groups. The beer selection isn't extensive, but there are solid local beers to choose from like Societe, Stone and Alesmith. The pizza is NY style thin crust with and there is a gluten free option that's one of the best I've had. They also sell the most incredible cookies that are made in house. Our faves are blonde rocky road and s'mores. The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown La Mesa and perfect for an after dinner stroll.

Tavelle A.

Yelp
..... I don't write bad review.... My wife for some reason really liked this place... me and her have different tastes when it comes to pizza... but let's talk about the goods... this half pound sugar cookie with!!! Oh my was something to brag about... a little secret if you ask them they will warm it up in the back for you!!

Brad B.

Yelp
The food left a pleasant taste in my mouth but the prices didn't. Woof, this place can be pricey! The reason I'm a little turned off by the high prices is because they're not disclosed. The menus when you walk up to place your order don't display prices, only the food items, so your final total is, well, a surprise! I ordered the "Godfather" slice and also the meatball sub, which seemed excessive when I was ordering but was the perfect amount of food when I was done eating. Both items were delicious and my only critique would be that the meatball sub could have been a bit more hefty, but that's grasping for something to pick apart. I'd certainly order both items again. To get back to the pricing of this place, my total after a 20% tip was $30.00. I should add that I also ordered a soda, but $25.00 before tip for a slice, a sub and a soda is a bit steep. I still don't know what each individual item cost me but I'm guessing $17.00 for the sub, $4.00 for the slice, and $3.00 for the soda? I dunno, but $30.00 total after tip. Be prepared for a delicious meal that will make your wallet weep a little bit, friends!

Jeannine O.

Yelp
Consistently delish pizza. Im a fan of a thin crispy char in places crust with a slight chew and lucky for me Surfrider hits that and is close to home.

Avery M.

Yelp
Good pizza, and fast survive!! Recomend this place a lot if you are in the area. Pizza was also crucnchy and good!!

Arcely E.

Yelp
It was my first time going and I saw the ad from IG. I'll definitely come back! We went right as they opened on a Sunday. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. You know the place is great when it got busy a little after we got there! The staff there was very friendly and helpful. The pizzas were delicious and the crust was perfect!

Tawnia S.

Yelp
Pizza is good. We love the variety. Can get a little expensive with a group. Staff seems a little impatient.

Amber L.

Yelp
Just went to Surf Riders for the first time today. Great food, great service, perfect chill spot.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
The cheese pizza is pretty good but it's a little greasy. The crust isn't as good as other places, but overall it's one of the better places to get pizza in the San Diego metro. I'd be interested in trying the pesto pizzas next time. The surf theming totally reminds me of Pizza My Heart in the Santa Cruz/San Jose area. We like Wednesday night trivia. It's so good for several reasons: 1) It's nice to do trivia with my teens and not be at a bar. 2) It's completely outside and we can be COVID safe. 3) It's a fun time and you can win gift cards ($25, $10, $5) towards your order for next time.

Brad W.

Yelp
My recent visit here pissed me off so much I gave myself 9 days to cool off before writing this review. We had been coming here once or twice per month for over 4 years. Up front I should be honest and sya that they have OK pizza. Its not amazing, but about as good as you can find in east county. I mean, its a Cohen place, so you know what you are getting- generally solid, but nothing amazing. If the pizza sucked, this would have been 1-star for sure. This place is pretty convenient, but a couple of times a year I have a WTF-type experience where the staff seem incompetent or just completely uninterested in customer service. We all have days, but last weekend makes me think I am done with this place. Staturday at 12:30 and they have a line out the door and down the sidewalk to order slices. I waited almost 30 minutes to order, trying to bring home slices for 5 people. When I get to the front of the line, half the pizza case is empty, including basics like pepperoni or plain cheese that the kids want, whcih is understandable as busy as they were. I asked to confirm they had more coming out and they said they would both be out in the next 3-5 minutes. But the staff tells me I cannot order anything that is not in the case yet. I am going to be waiting for them to warm slices anyway, so why can I not order a couple of slcies that are coming out in 3 minutes? They literally told me that if I wanted slices of cheese or pepperoni, I would need to wait until they come out and then get back in line!!! So they proposed that I get back in line and waitr 30 more minutes, which is not only ridiculous, but even if I had been iwlling to do so, there is not guarantee that any of those slices would be available by the time I got the front fo the line again. Many other people in line around me were upset about the exact same thing- being told they could not order slices of pies coming out and then wait 3 for them. The employees heard us all complaining to each other and told us this is their store policy. I am not sure if I believe that a coporate restaraunt group like Cohen could have such a policy, but either way, I am certainly going to think long and hard before spending money here again. If you traffic in pizza slices and you are going to tell customers that they need to wait in line twice, for up to an hour, in hopes of being able to order a slice of cheese pizza (and even then with no guarantee they will let you order one), you need to rethink things. Screw this place.

Crystal M.

Yelp
Pizza was really good. They bake the slices after you order, so they come out hot and crispy. This is a great place to come after a day or night of drinking.

Jade N.

Yelp
I love the sliced pizza here! They have a special for 2 slices and a soda for like $12. So worth it because the spices are huge. I've like everything I've tried there, especially the spicy meatball, the surf rider, the GOAT..

Ali P.

Yelp
Came here for some pizza after visiting a local brewery. We ordered a couple of slices of pizza, a salad, and garlic knots. The food was great! Very tasty. We had an issue with payment as 1 of us was paying for everything but the cashier split the salad off so we had to pay separately for that which didn't make sense. Definitely plenty of space inside to enjoy beers & pizza and people watch!

Cindy L.

Yelp
Pretty good slices. They have a pretty good deal for 2 slices and a drink and you can mix and match your slices. A great hang out spot, plenty of room inside and outside if you want to watch the game

C Q.

Yelp
This rating and associated comments are solely focused on their to-go pizza. I have not had anything else or eaten on location. First visit was a large cheese pizza, second visit was their margarita pizza. I LoVe good, NY style pizza and try to find the best everywhere I stay. Well, I have found it here in La Mesa - Surfrider's pizza is SUPERB. It is rather costly, but I'd assume it's due to their location being right on the posh portion of Main Street. Last time I was there, the beautiful woman at the counter explained they had won consecutive years of some pizza award. No idea which award, but it was certainly well earned & deserved!

Chris C.

Yelp
I work on La Mesa Blvd, and this is literally my favorite place to go for food and beers! The pizza by the slice is always super good and crispy, but where it's at is the DIRTY CHEESESTEAK Sandwich. It's so damn good, fresh, and spicy. This, a beer, and some pizza with some friends is a great time. Also I have become pretty cool with a bunch of the workers here, so the service is always great. I love how they always have the game on too (no matter Padres/NFL/CFB), overall good atmosphere.

Claudia L L.

Yelp
My family and I explored La Mesa today, we stopped in for lunch at Surfrider Pizza. It's part of the Kohn restaurant group and a location we haven't tried before today. The restaurant was busy but plenty of room to eat either inside or on two patios. We had a family meal option for a pizza with 2 toppings and a large salad. We also ordered garlic knots which we never received but were given a refund for. The food tasted good, pizza slices are huge and salad was fresh. The staff was nice and the only reason it's not 5 stars is the experience with the garlic knots which was a little weird. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and I would give them another shot.

Joanne P.

Yelp
Had an amazing time at Trivia Night (Wednesdays) a few days back! My first time here w/ our friends. We grabbed at parking stall right in front (lucky us!). And wasn't sure how the evening was gonna play out, weather wise. Since it was raining in the afternoon. When we pulled up, we saw staff wiping the west patio down. There are plenty of overhead heat lamps to keep patrons nice & toasty. Weather behaved! Whew! You download an app on your phone prior to the game. Head inside to order your food and staff will bring it out to your table. Even though I ordered 2 slices SoCal Heat & (I can't remember the other one!- I know it had jalapeños/ sausage?/ pepperoni)... I was enamored with the SoCal Heat! Toppings: White jalapeño dirty sauce/ bacon/ jalapeños/ Roma tomatoes And the garlic knots were just yummy. SAVE room for their Tres Leches! Oooof! Seriously, the best I've ever had. Rich and decadent!

Sara O.

Yelp
Tasty thin sliced pizza. They have a deal for two slices of pizza and a draft beer for $14. Have both indoor and outdoor seating plus heaters. Bathroom is clean along with the common areas. Nice pizzeria and kid friendly.

Kyra M.

Yelp
Great Pizza! We get this to go or delivered often though Postmates for game day! Some of the best pizza in town! At the restaurant you can get it per slice but delivered you have to get a whole 18" pie. My favorite is the surf rider which has a white sauce it is truly amazing. They have an indoor and back patio for lots of seating and great for big groups as you can all order separately if you want and a wait staff will still bring you more drinks while you are sitting. They use to have a full bar now they only have beer and seltzers and wine. The pizza is the main show and amazing! There cheesy bread is also very good, their salads could use some improvements they are very basic. They also have phenomenal ranch!

Mar B.

Yelp
The outside seating was nice but that was about all I loved from here. We were excited to try a new pizza place since East County isn't really know for great pizza. Honestly the pizza did not look appetizing in the window display, like a lack of toppings and visual drool worthy pizza aesthetic. It all looked cold like it has been sitting there for a while but we still wanted to give it a try. We both ordered two slices- one came out nice and melted and the other was clearly still cold (cheese was hard). Hated that they only had Pepsi products- but found out after we ordered (was not listed on the menu). They had unlabeled lemonade and what appeared to be black tea- the tea had a nasty flavor - like fake peach maybe- but also why was it not labeled? So our attempt at an Arnold Palmer did not work and then only having cardboard straws was literally my ~last~ straw. The garlic knots also felt like they were cooked forever ago and 'heated up' versus freshly baked like at Best Pizza (Carmel Mt). Did not offer ranch w the knots either. They were a little dry and small for 2$ each. Overall sitting outside in the sun was nice, just wish the pizza was actually good and that they had coke products or even acceptable tasting lemonade and iced tea. Would return to sit there just not sure if there is anything good on the menu.

Yelp
I can only give details on the food because we got delivery but wow! This pizza was so delicious!! to be honest I was browsing the menu and remembered seeing this on the news when I saw the mention of dirty sauce on their menu. We had the SoCal Heat pizza and dirty sauce wings. I love spicy and this pizza was it! So much flavor and well balanced portion of toppings but man it made me sweat! Next time I might do half not so spicy maybe they can do less jalapeños because it was good flavor, but my mouth was on fire and I wanted to enjoy it a little more. The wings were great as well something in that dirty sauce has my husband and I hooked. I can't wait to go into the place and try out some more because flavor seems to be a priority

Yelp
We came in pretty late on a Monday and we had the pleasure of being helped out by Steven, the kitchen manager. Very cool spot with neat decor, great service, delicious food, and creative pizzas. Don't forget to get a cookie.

Yelp
I stopped by Surf Rider Pizza on Halloween, and the place was packed with a lively crowd. I ordered a large pepperoni pizza, and it didn't disappoint! The toppings were flavorful and well-balanced, though the crust could have used a bit more crunch. Despite that, the pizza was solid, and the overall vibe of the place was laid-back and fun with a true surfer aesthetic. I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're looking for a spot to bring the family or a group.

Yelp
Great pizza I just subtracted 2 stars for the forgotten ingredient I originally bought this pizza for. I love artichoke! And this didn't have a single piece of artichoke on it.

Yelp
This might be a matter of preference but I wish they would cook the crusts just a bit longer. The crust can't hold all of the toppings so it falls apart easily. That might just be me though. Otherwise, the toppings are great and fresh, the staff is always nice. The chicken wings are bomb and they have ample seating in the restaurant so it's good for groups.

Yelp
Some might like burnt cracker thin oily pizzas but not us. The venue, service, and overpriced cookies are the only good things here. Don't waste your money on the pizzas. Keep your charge receipt because our statement showed $8 more than our receipt. La Mesa deserves better.

Yelp
It was really good pizza we were traveling and we are staying at a my daughter's house. It showed up exactly as expected on time. Excellent, hot tasted great. Good job.

Yelp
Surf Rider is right in the heart do downtown La Mesa! They have such a cute, outdoor seating, entourage, as well as a clean and fun place to eat indoors. I love their combo special which allows you to get two slices of pizza, and a drink. And if you don't do the combo, you're welcome to do a military discount as well on your food. All of their selection of pizza is delicious. I've tried several different slices, and they're all very good, as well as their Ranch. Sitting outside is really nice on a warm day, you pick your own seat as to where you want to eat too! The bathrooms are also very clean, and the staff there is always accommodating and lively. If you're looking for a nice pizza joint in La Mesa, head on over to Surfrider pizza, you won't regret it.

Yelp
This is my second time eating here. I love the two slice pizza special & a drink for $10.50. They have a great selection of pies. You order at the counter & they bring it to the table. It is casual atmosphere with outdoor seating so you can bring your dog. They also have delivery.

Yelp
The pizzas were very good! I ordered a large pick up order and it did not disappoint the family. We tried a half dozen of their set menu 18" pizzas. The crust was thin and crispy and the toppings were generous. Upon pick up the atmosphere is laid back casual surf theme with sports on the multiple flat screens. This pizza joint should be on your radar if on the la mesa area.

Yelp
Pizza by here is fine, but you should comment to the person managing the pies to not leave it in so long to reheat. Every time they've left it in the pizza over 2-3x longer than they should have and burnt the shit out of it.

Yelp
Pizza is delicious and why I started coming here often instead of Bronx pizza which is usually my go to, but this is closer. Just stood in line only to get skipped over by a girl named Debbie? She skipped me twice because I was on the phone but after the first time I clearly made it known I was ready to put my togo order in super quick while I put my phone aside, she did it twice which was kinda upsetting. I will not return here and gladly drive down to Bronx from now on.

Yelp
Very cool looking spot with tons of curb appeal! Great menu as well - lots of variety. The pie was massive and reasonably priced. We ordered a pie for delivery to Coin Haus. The delivery process was super smooth. The spicy vegetarian had awesome toppings and flavor. However, it was incredibly greasy...both on the slices themselves and residually on the pan. Not sure if it was the special "dirty sauce" topping or if this was a one-off. We both had to stop eating after the second slice. But I would be willing to try a slice or different pie.
