Kaisan has upped his game and has created some really tasty dishes. Sushi and sashimi plates are made with fresh fish and do not disappoint. Don't judge its location because it's a gem.

Clean restaurant, quick service, friendly staff, and good food. It was a short walk from the hotel and the sushi was really good. Salmon was fresh and delicious. The server was super friendly and attentive. Drinks were good. I didn’t try any specialty rolls, but they also looked amazing. Had a few basic rolls and they were really good. The egg rolls and sauce were fabulous as well. Also tried some fried chicken that someone else was having and I would have it again!

Never again am I eating here! It was horrible 🤮 I love sushi 🍣 But this right here was a joke! It literally fell apart, the seaweed was so hard and stretchy I couldn't even eat it! This was supposed to be a Miami crunch roll, but it was a hot mess! They charged me $15.99 for this madness 😤 Tried to tell them, but they didn't seem to care😠 I would give this place a zero if possible! I used to come here years ago when I lived near by, but I don't know what happened 🤷🏻‍♀️

Was so happy to find that this popular local spot was open on a Sunday evening. The staff was kind and tended to us quickly. The sushi boat #2 was so delicious and fed 4 of us easily. Would love to revisit.

The food is always good here and the service is very friendly. They have recently updated their menu with photos. I really wish they would get more business. Every time I eat in here it's almost empty...they do deliver through door dash and GrubHub. If you live in San Pedro I would definitely recommend this place.

The food was the best Japanese I've had in many years. The service was all I could ask for & the menu prices were very reasonable.

The food is always good 👍 but today, the service was not so much. Had a party of 5. One person got their food before everyone. Then, when that person was done, three others were served. I received my meal last after everyone at my table was already finished with theirs. All food should have come at the same time. Other than that inconvenience, the staff was nice as usual.

Great time, tried multiple sushi rolls with strawberry sake. Reliable, exactly as hoped, and the hostess was incredibly sweet and took great care of us.

We were staying at the motel next door and thought we'd give it a try. It was a pleasant surprise and definitely proves the adage "Don't judge a book by its cover." The inside decor isn't remarkable but the food and service are! We were greeted promptly and sat quickly. Service was efficient and friendly. We were well taken care of. The menu while busy was jam packed with lots of options and many standard favorites. The food was delicious and satisfying with good presentation. I would highly recommend checking this place out for a great meal and experience with pricing that is reasonable.

Quality was good, service at the bar was good, but $60 each for two "special" chirashi bowls is ridiculous! They made it a big deal to show us (twice) that they put "real gold" on the toro pieces... whoop-de-do! Their "special chirashi" is nothing out of the ordinary, and I don't give a shit about gold flakes on my fish, especially if it adds to the cost. Most places charge around $30 for the same thing. I won't eat there again. What a rip off!

This is such a hidden gem in the South Bay/San Pedro area!! The best sushi ever. It's literally so fresh. Each bite is like the first time lol it's no joke. They have 50% off nigiri so it's a really good steal. Our go to is salmon and yellowtail nigiri. But everything else is really good. Service is always on point as well. And the sushi chefs take their jobs seriously with how well they present the sushi. I have no complaints

Honestly really good sushi. And I've had a lot of sushi before AND got it to go. Food was still really good by the time i got home. Service was really nice too. Ambiance in the restaurant seemed really nice. Will probably dine here in the future.

My bf couldn't stop eating the spicy garlic edamame. We loved the seaweed salad, sashimi combo and spicy scallop roll. Looks like a mom n pop spot, service was good and I was happy the hostess offered me an extra refill on my hot tea(I love hot tea by the way). We walked out happy and satisfied. A bit pricey but we did get a lot of food for 3 people besides what I mentioned...it was worth it in my opinion.

Simple dine in restaurant. Lots of to go orders going out the door. Wonderful, attentive service, good timing of food and waiter attention. Excellent food value. Large portions in bento box. Very fresh sushi & sashimi.

My family has built a tradition of coming to this place whenever we have family gatherings. There is usually rarely anyone there when we come and the service is fast and responsive. Though they may struggle here and there, there is always effort put in. Their sushi has always been one of my family's favorites for a while. They take a while but it is worth the wait! The love boat is a good deal as you are getting pieces of sashimi and sushi rolls for the price of high end sushi rolls. This is a perfect place to bring a party and try out new and different foods!

Don't walk- run to sushi 21. I had zero expectations and was BLOWN out of my mind. I am not a sushi gourmand but more of a connoisseur liking Inaba and Sugarfish. This place!!!! Did not disappoint!!! A mark of a great sushi place for me is their saba (mackerel) and amaebi, and both were fresh and great. I am tempted to not share this place with other people but i want them to thrive so that i can good sushi MORE. Check it out. So . Good.

Such a great experience here, first time. Our party of 7 came on a Sunday at 2pm. The dinning room was empty but the staff was busy with many pickup and online orders. With our big party and the staff seeming busy, I assumed we would have to wait a while for everyone's food to come out. This was not the case! They completed our large, diverse order very quickly. They have an extensive menu with many options to choose from. All you can eat sushi mon - Friday 3 rolls for $36 ish dollars Filling sushi combo plates And much much more. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. Especially the chicken teriyaki bowl! Sushi and sashimi was excellent. Sashimi with large pieces of fish. Even the miso was so savory and served steaming hot! The service was friendly and quick and the staff tended to us very well. Definitely stop by this sushi restaurant when visiting San Pedro. The sushi is decent the lady that took my phone order was very rude I was placing my order and she kept trying to get me to order more food so when i picked up my food she over charged me i took a look at my bill and she added stuff i did not order and kept tryin to convince me to buy it after i told her many times i did not want it

I've seen varying reviews here but have to say we never had a bad experience with sushi 21. Staff is friendly, orders are more than sufficient and they had safe operations during the pandemic lockdowns. Servings are fantastic, price maybe a little high, and the location less than ideal being just off 2nd n Gaffey. Probably run out of a refurbished Taco Bell from tte 80s but they lived in the space well and made it their own. Cute signage, interior set up to take mostly takeaway orders, but safely again during high pandemic times. This my new favorite sushi spot. We recently moved to the area and tried a few other places before we found this one. Good sushi is so hard to find these days and I'm so glad we found this place. We got takeout sushi (las Vegas roll, H.O.T roll, hulk roll, calamari, edamame, and the dumplings for my toddler, he loved the dumplings as well.

The green tea is so amazing Loose leaf so fresh The rolls are so tasty and a big I don't have a big mouth so I have to struggle to eat it Cindy is very friendly and helpful Great personality very upbeat! We have gone back twice now and we highly recommend this place

We came in the last 30 minutes before closing (thinking it closed later) and the waitress gave us a warm welcome. The service was fast, the food was great, and our water glasses were never empty! Excellent service!!

It seems like they made a lot of preparations to renovate the store's interior and try new things. The new menu, new staff, new chefs, fresh high-quality fish, and always doing their best to serve customers with a smile were all great.

Absolutely love this place that has been a Pedro staple for years. The family that runs it is so friendly and the food is delicious. They've updated their menu with new rolls (tried the Godzilla and the Aloha this time) and they were great. But I can't come here without getting Jose's Roll and a Baked Scallop.

I ordered the cucumber salad and asked for sesame dressing on top. If you like cucumbers, this salad will not let you down. Then, since I was in the mood for salmon and a nice roll, I ordered the Playboy Roll. Again, delicious! The ginger is slightly sweet, which I had to ask for more ginger, since it was so good. Very delicious food, good prices, and very friendly service. Thank you Sushi 21. :)

Extremely disappointed! For the price of the roll, I expected tuna with the tempura shrimp and crab mix, not tasteless soggy crab mix and 'some' pieces of tuna.

This has been my go-to sushi place since moving to San Pedro in 2019. I loved sitting at the bar and watching a game with sushi pre-COVID. I mostly come for takeout now, but also used them for two big orders recently. One was for a friend who was doing a vigil with her dying mother and they made a huge sushi platter for the family and then I used them for my Christmas party - got nothing but compliments both times.

Love vegeterian tempura, avocado rolls are huge in comparison to other places serving avocado rolls, they are also fresh and delicious. Egg rolls are great too. Definitely it's my place for quick pick up meal.

We order their beautiful party trays for all our events for years. Their party tray are stunning. We placed an order today we got our order in styrofoam. We purchased a "party tray" not take out in styrofoam trays! The customers service was crap, made every excuse possible and hung up on us. If you don't have the supplies for a party tray do not accept orders for a party tray!!!! We where responsible to bring the main dish, this isn't Sushi 21 quality. The first picture is from our last order. How can you expect your customers to expect this PARTY TRAY IN A DAMN STYROFOAM CONTAINER. We live down the street from sushi 21 our business will go to Roll Top Sushi from now on.

I used to be impressed, but now they've either gotten to lazy or they just don't like me lol.

It happened again. These people won't serve disabled people with service dogs even if they just want something to go. Not only that they'll use the most vile language possible to deny a military veteran service with a service animal. The owner called me a mother f**ker repeatedly. He told me that I had no disabilities, that I was faking, and that I never served in the military. His son was focused on how many tours of duty I had done, somehow believing that, well I'm not quite sure what he thought he was proving by asking how many tours of duty I have. Well, it turned out the son followed me home threatening me the entire way and then tried to trespass by forcing my secure gate open in hopes of gaining entry to my home. This sort of violent reaction to people seeking to use their lawful rights ought to be discouraged. I thought see pertinent data according to the Americans with Disabilities Act whether or not I had a disability and a need for a service dog period. So if you're a veteran with a disability I would suggest avoiding this place because they don't seem to believe that other people are veterans or have disabilities let alone need any kind of support. I for one can do without Japanese food if they can do without this 100 percent disabled veteran.

Usually stop on my way home when in mood for some sashimi and seaweed salad. Food is better than the service. Good to satisfy a craving and easily accessible

A San Pedro sushi staple. The two go-to's are the Jose Roll and Eel Tempura Roll. I've had sushi all over the U.S. and those can't be beat!

Deceitful advertising. Ad on window $35.88 for any 3 rolls . They knew we are ordering To go and only when charging did the special change to only one charge of $35.99 for 2 rolls with regular charges for the other 4 rolls - we thought we could apply the 3 for $35,twice?

Really wanted to find local place with FRESH cuts for sushi. So disappointed, sushi was not fresh, poorly cut by an amateur. So I'm giving 2 stars, because Covid reality has caused restaurants problems, so I won't give 1 star. Now things are opening up, please do better.

If I could leave negative 5 stars, I would! Horrible! I ordered the chicken teriyaki rolls and they didn't put any teriyaki on it. And the rolls were all messed up. My mom ordered a veggie roll and hers is a bunch of lettuce. Awful experience! Not worth the $$$. 7/11 has better looking rolls than this.

Not the best, and almost the worse sushi I've had. Tried this establishment with a carry out order. I've always seen it on the way home, and everywhere else was to be closed by the time I made it there. Late night closings are always a plus for a person on the move, especially at night. Placed my order in through the website, and said it would be no longer than 25 minutes max. Gave them 35, and still had to wait an additional 20 (easily). My order consisted of a Tiger Roll and Rattlesnake Roll, and when it was ready the lady so nicely called my name and just stuck a bag in my hand and walked away; lol whatever. Both rolls looked fresh, Tiger Roll was good, but the eel on the Rattlesnake tasted odd . . . so odd that I knocked it off and went in just for the crab and cucumber. The eel sauce was also pretty disappointing . . . although it had the thick consistency it tasted very watered down! I don't think I will be coming back here because I can find mediocre sushi anywhere. However, I gotta shoot a compliment for the chopsticks that were the already-split kind! That's appreciated!

Unbelievably Phenomenal!!! Fresh, flavorful, scrumptious! Family!!!! I feel beyond blessed to have them in my community. Really, the sushi is always Fresh and so tasty. Ahhhh I sang the entire way throughout my dinner, and lunch the day b4, and dinner the night b4, and lunch b4 that.....I hope you catch my drift. We were looking for a place to get some good Sushi and happened upon Sushi 21 in San Pedro. I must say, it was excellent. They have an "All you can eat menu." My husband, I, and a friend did just that, we ordered all we could eat. From the presentation to the service, it was delightful. So don't be a stranger to the restaurant on the corner, stop by and fill up.

The best sushi and baked salmon roll I've ever had! 10/10 would recommend. Went on a Saturday night and got seated right away with my best friend. Not crowded or anything. Plenty of space for seating and very clean. Staff was very! I recommend the baked salmon roll, tiger roll, the sexy roll and the rattlesnake roll. :)

My parents have brought me to this spot since I was three years old and its been a few years since I've had the place. I can definitely say that I am a fanatic of sushi today. So I wanted to surprise my family by buying them lunch while supporting this business. So I called on my way there. Baked Hawaiian Lobster (3 pieces): Does not look like the picture that they have on their website which is a little displeasing. I still found the item to be good and thats my mom's favorite. Baked Salmon Roll: I got this and it was really good. Every bite I did enjoy. Portion size was okay. Crunchy Roll: Enjoyable, again portion size was okay. Chicken Teriyaki plate: My sister enjoyed it and finished the whole thing. It comes with a Miso soup and a salad. We asked to not put the salad in the container due to us just throwing it in the trash and putting it to waste but they still gave it anyway. Overall, this spot holds a lot of memories from when I was a kid and maybe thats why I continue to support even though I could go somewhere else for sushi. I just didn't like that they packed two rolls together when they were meant to be separated for two different people but I am not gonna nitpick something so small.

The owners are rude and snobby. That's not how to get or keep customers. No wonder this place only has 3 stars, I would rather take my business elsewhere, where I am not spoken to in a manner that is both derogatory and patronizing.

Just has $75 of "sushi " from this place. This is amateur hour. The salmon sashimi was three inches long by one quarter from farm raised Norwegian salmon with no presentation, just dumped in a styrofoam clansh with some daikon and lemon slices. The sushi was amateur. What was supposed to be tobiko but apparently was lumpfish caviar black and flavorless. Yellowtail was lackluster and the mackerel was similarly uninspiring. Cucumber salad while being large in size of slices was not the usual cucumber appetizer of a real sushi bar. Overall my rating is a three out of ten recommended for people who don't know sushi, are drunk or just don't care about cost or quality. never again

One of the best places around LA! I've tried same tasty sushi only on Roll Roll Roll in Korea town and one more place in Manhattan beach! I really enjoyed HIGE Dynamite roll and Special Eall roll. Will definitely be back! Highly recommend!
