Stopped in for lunch and I was dining alone but the server made me feel VERY welcome!! Got the 2 roll lunch special plus an additional roll and I took half of it home! Delicious. The salad dressing was great……all a beautiful presentation.

Google
our server daniel was amazing tonight! we had a very big party and he was incredibly patient with us from start to finish, providing us great service. give him a raise, very handsome kind gentleman. the food was also pretty good too

Google
Favorite neighborhood sushi place for happy hour. They have great specials like happy hour, Sunday brunch, tipsy Tuesday, and late night happy hour. I’ve been going for years and the quality has always been consistent.

Google
I'd been wanting to eat at Sushi Alive for awhile, and I was not disappointed. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the service was lovely. Pictures are of the kid's meals. I will say the short rib fell short of perfect, but the noodles were spot on.

Google
The food is always fresh and delicious. This is our go-to spot whenever we want a fresh sushi. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates top-notch places!

Google
This place was delicious 🤤! I took my son for happy hour and my bill was $80 with a tip and we each had one drink. We ordered three rolls to share and one appetizer, in addition we did get a $22 meal to go which is the bill was so high. Overall, the wait staff was super friendly and checked on us often. The food was delicious and the prices were great 👍🏽 happy hour was from 4-7 I believe. I would def recommend and return.

Google
My MIL took us here because she's been before and said it was great . It's very nicely decorated inside and there's outdoor seating . My SO and I were excited to try the takoyaki, he loved it but I wasn't too sold on the textures. The flavors were good though. Delicious sushi and a ton of options as well! We'll likely come again .

Google
This place was great they have happy hour until 7 on sushi and drinks and the food & service was 10/10. Def looking forward to go back !

Yelp
Just posting an update with photos. I gave 4 stars instead of the 3 stars I gave previously. We went during happy hour and they had very good sushi happy hour deals. Our server was very attentive and the sushi we ordered was decent. I still miss the sushi from NJ and NYC (back home) so I'm a hard critic when it comes to sushi. I keep comparing the sushi to back home. Sushi was fresh, but average. Service was great.

Yelp
I like the interior, location and our server was friendly but the sushi happy hour rolls, although tasty, were disappointingly small and not filling. The specialty rolls are pretty boring too--so many of them have krab delight & tempura shrimp. I used to love this place but it's not really worth it. I'd rather go somewhere with large unique rolls full of fish.

Yelp
My all time favorite place for happy hour sushi! You just can't beat their prices (and quality for the price) at about $5 per roll. Our go to HH order is usually: Tampa, Florida, Philadelphia, Mexican, spicy tuna, and the tempura salmon rolls. For apps the stuffed mushrooms are amazing but this time we tried the tnt mussels and they did not disappoint. I also typically order the lollipop roll but this time my friend ordered the scorpion roll and it was amazing! Definitely better than the volcano fyi. They also have bogo wine and beer during HH, but you have to wait until after 8pm for the sake to be bogo. Service is always pretty decent consisting of mainly a younger waitstaff. The noise level is pretty loud but much to be expected with the dining room being a large open space. For a quieter dinner I would suggest sitting outside, and if it happens to be chili out you can always catch me at the fire pit! Great place.

Yelp
Love this place excellent sushi options and taste . My favorite fried ice cream ever . Very cute clean place and atmosphere. It won't disappoint

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere with a busy Nuevo vibe! The menu was expansive & offered lot more than sushi. However we stuck to the rolls and sashimi, and really were impressed with our selections. The happy hour options were a great deal of the traditional rolls like Japanese Bagel Roll, Mexican Roll, etc. We also ordered a few rolls from the signature roll menu. My favorite was the Yoshi Roll which was the perfect mix of tempura & salmon with thinly sliced lemon. The Bang Bang roll was yummy too. Also of note was the delicious miso soup. Our server was a doll & more than pleasant but service was extremely slow. Took over an hour to get our rolls. Not sure if the fault lied with our server or the chefs but the wait was excessive. Tough with two little ones to wait that long! If they could improve on that, I'd happily give this place 5 stars!
google avatar

Alissa R.

Yelp
Such a cute vibe and the staff were all so kind. Our server was perfect and another staff member held the door for me. I recently had surgery and she saw that I couldn't get around easily - so thoughtful! The sushi was fresh, high quality, and reasonably priced. We went for happy hour sushi and were very pleasantly surprised by the good deal and quality. From the nigiri to the hand rolls, we enjoyed it all!

Yelp
(Review #992) Really an oddball gem in mostly quiet residential Tampa. I've been here a couple times now, and it's close to a good friends house. The service is really good. The sushi and fish in general is very fresh. The poke bowls are superb. The rolls are good...can be a little bit inconsistent in size/cut etc. But generally tasty. Kids seem to love the place. The food comes out really fast. Ambience is lovely with indoor and outdoor and fire pit seating too. It may seem like it's out of place. But it's a good place for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Sushi bar is what's happening. Watching those sushi chefs bust out the delicious rolls is always the best. The sushi rolls are fantastic and the happy hour specials are phenomenal. . We have a food allergy in the family and they pay good attention to it. Good daily specials, happy hours, and food in general. Worth a try!
google avatar

Bridget S.

Yelp
I come here quite often for their 5-7 happy hour sushi prices. Although I wouldn't say they're top of the line sushi, I still enjoy almost everything I order. Drinks are also flavorful and have good options to choose from. The first couple times I came here, they would mess up usually at least one roll per table, but so far the past few times they've been very consistent in getting orders out correctly and in a timely fashion. Plenty of seating, decor is nice inside and outside as well
google avatar

Abe T.

Yelp
The food here is THE BEST SUSHI I have ever eaten in my life. I used to always get a mild stomach upset with sushi because it was so raw, but not at this place. I they slightly cook the rolls but it makes them incredible! The ambiance is nice and it seems to be owned by Chinese Asians. Only thing though, this place is expensive, but the money's got to go somewhere right?

Yelp
My husband and stumbled upon this gem when we were in the area looking for a happy hour. We arrived and requested seats at the sushi bar. They have amazing happy hour specials Monday-Friday 5-7PM. Gabi was our server and she was so sweet and super helpful with providing recommendations. We got 3 rolls, a bunch of nigiri and a hand roll. All of the sushi was fresh! We were so impressed. The 2 for 1 wine is also a great deal! The Gator Roll and Tempura Salmon rolls are a must get. We loved everything we got and will definitely be back to enjoy this delicious sushi again soon!

Jim P.

Yelp
First time customer at Sushi Alive. The food was great, and I loved the outdoor dining area. Our waitress - Nicole - was a real gem, she explained the menu and made great suggestions on food and drinks.

Yelp
Online the hours of operation are until 11pm. I showed up with my son to eat at 10:20pm and was told they close at 1030 and kitchen closes at 10:15. Very disappointing from a customers perspective.
google avatar

Tetiana R.

Yelp
Tasty dessert, we usually come here after Sunday church. My children like California roll and it's good for them. Also tempura shrimp is tasty
google avatar

Frank G.

Yelp
Damn! we really want to like this place. A couple years ago we got sick and swore off the place. Went back again and for 4-5 visits, it was great. Like the atmosphere, bartenders, and other than sushi items. Sunday night, the fish was spit it out bad. Nothing to get sick with - thank goodness - just that near slimy its getting old state. But now do we want to go back? We spent a lot of money on a disappointing dinner. Maybe Sunday is not a good day? Fridays is just a mob scene so forget then.
google avatar

Yelp
Sushi Alive is a solid choice if you are looking for decent sushi. I got 2 of their rolls to go and they were well made. The fish was fresh and the sushi pieces were of a good size with a good balance between rice and fish. Some places, they have way too much rice, but this place is pretty balanced. The service was decently quick and the interior ambiance of the restaurant was well kept and modern. Definitely looks like a place with a good atmosphere to kick off the weekend :)
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
I sat at the bar where Ashlee greeted me promptly and made me a spicy bloody Mary. She informed me was happy hour, and several drinks were $5 and under including my Bloody Mary! They also had a happy hour sushi on the weekends $5 rolls. This was definitely a bargain. I started my meal ordering the Arizona roll and the Florida roll. They were both fantastic. I preferred the Arizona over the Florida midway through my meal. I also ordered the Eel and spicy tuna. If I had to pick the eel is definitely my favorite. I have never found this much sushi for only $20 bucks! You need to come check this place out. Definitely check out the outside patio with beautiful statues and waterfalls. It's a whole vibe in itself.

Yelp
I have been coming here for the past 7 years - ever since it opened. It is such an amazing spot and a lot of locals come here for happy hour. That is the absolute best time to go. You can't beat the prices. The sushi is always amazing and fresh. The service is always quick and the staff there is great. It's a chill, laid back spot and a great place for a date night.
google avatar

Shey D.

Yelp
The food is here is absolutely bomb but so is the customer service! We had reserved a table outside but Florida being the way it is, it started POURING and we were getting soaked. Without having to ask, we were immediately moved inside to a nice private space!
google avatar

Lara T.

Yelp
I have always loved this restaurant. They were first located in Carrolwood, they have moved and now in the Tampa/Odessa area in a larger space. They have a nice bar, beautiful indoor dining room and outdoor patio area. Their sushi is fantastic, so nice and fresh. We had the Philadelphia roll, Pink lady: Tempura shrimp, cream cheese, krab delight, asparagus, Pink soy paper, Special spicy salmon mix center & spicy garlic teriyaki sauce and Jade Dragon roll: Sesame tuna, asparagus, Krab delight, topped w/ tempura chips, smelt roe, avocado. & sweet n' spicy chilli sauce. So fresh with beautiful presentation. Plenty of parking. We sat at the bar with good service. They have a great happy hour menu Monday to Friday 5-7 and also Saturday and Sunday noon to 3 with drink and sushi specials. They are open Mon-Thu 11am-2pm & 5pm-10pm, Fri 11am-2pm & 5pm-11pm, Sat 12pm-11pm and Sun 12pm-9pm.

Yelp
It took a long time to convince my husband to eat sushi, but boy now that he has experienced it, I've created a monster. Actually Sushi Alive has created the monster. We have ordered it for takeout before, but realized that their happy hour specials are just unbeatable. I mean a spicy tuna roll for five dollars? Literally how can you beat that! Four rolls is more than enough to fill two us up. If you get there during happy hour you will leave full in the belly and not much lighter in the pocket. While in the beginning, my husband opted for cooked fish in his sushi rolls, it has morphed into him eating all of the ones I select because they are better! The last time we visited I had to ask for a separate plate so that I could enjoy my dinner choices and not have to share. get your own roll. At happy hour prices why not? Sushi Alive has a vibrant atmosphere and bar scene. It's also perfectly family friendly. It's a great location but expect a wait if you don't get there a few minutes before they open to secure your place in line, or make a reservation. We were unaware of the sushi happy hour but now that we found it it's a weekly staple. Now if we can just find somebody to join us so we can order their famous sushi boat!

Yelp
Happy hour on the weekends? That's worth bumping up a star. I still stand by the fact that the sushi is mediocre. However, they have a good cocktail selection and they have $4 rolls on Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. That's prime lunch time! I'll give them an extra star for that alone. I went with a tempura roll and Japanese bagel and found both to be good. I got a Red Geisha for a drink, which was pretty good and a mojito. The drink deals are on wine, bloody marys and mimosa. I didn't see that there were $5 bloody marys or else I would have gotten that! Future Christina, try another drink other than a Red Geisha and mojito. They were ok, but I'm not in love. The mojito was made with brown rum so it looked like a long island. That weirded me out a little. The bar can also make shots. We did lemon drops. I know, a group of moms doing lemon drop shots on a Saturday. When the kids aren't here, we go crazy. There are heat lamps outside, but they blow out when it's windy. Just in case you are going on the one week it's cold in Florida, like we did. We still sat outside, because of COVID, hence the shots to warm us up. It wasn't that busy inside, but it was 2:30 p.m. Still, with a happy hour like this I'm totally pushing to come back on a weekend. Service was great. I really liked our server, she was super friendly. I've had issues with is being slow before, but not this time. If you're looking for a good deal, this is your place.

Yelp
Came back for another round of Sushi while visiting Tampa. I still low key wish they'd bottle up that ginger dressing because it would be coming home on the plane with me back to LI. Super fresh sushi and super friendly service. I will say it's like a staple for us. Will we be back? Next time for sure and hopefully they'll get the hint to bottle that incredible dressing up and let me take it back home to Long Island.

Yelp
Yum yum yum!! First, the atmosphere here is amazing! We sat outside and it was so peaceful by the fountain. The service was definitely on it! Our server offered many suggestions and took the time to chat with us a bit about what we thought of the rolls! The crab Rangoon was good...wasn't by favorite but it was good. The rolls were delicious! We stepped outside our box and got an eel roll and surprisingly, we liked it! As always, couldn't pass up the volcano roll! Something about that crab on top...yum! I'd definitely go back!

Ditze F.

Yelp
I go to this place once a while. This time, We had fewer than 10 people, yet they charged a 20% so-called "large party service fee." For what? The same service as for one person. It was extremely busy, and we had to wait an hour and a half to get our food. And they charged an extra service fee on top of that? Ridiculous. I still gave the waiter a 25% tip--not for the service (because there wasn't any), but out of courtesy. To make things worse, the 20% large party service fee was included in the calculation for the recommended tip at the bottom of the receipt. Are you kidding me? I would never go back and would never recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
5-7 happy hour you can't beat the prices! We always sit at bar. Bartenders are nice and attentive. On Fridays there's a line out the door waiting to be let in. Cool interior and outdoor area. Good amount of parking. BOGO wines and beers. Love this place
google avatar

Isaura D.

Yelp
It was clean, service was awesome and the sushi did not disappoint. My family and I were very happy with our family sushi date.

Dung T.

Yelp
Ene was phenomenal! Best service we've received in a long time. Fast, efficient and pays attention to the details. Happy Hour is great and sushi quality along with regular food items are always on point. Yellowtail Sashimi, Gator Roll and Lettuce Wraps are highly recommended.
google avatar

Yelp
Sushi Alive Asian Bistro & Raw Bar has one of the best Happy Hour drink & food specials in all of Westchase Area of Tampa! However, make sure you make reservations a week in advance if you want to come on a Friday, because on Fridays it's a 2 hour wait even though you can see many open tables. We came on a Friday and left after being told it's a 2 hour wait and came back for Saturday's lunch time happy hour 12-3PM and we're able to get a table without reservations without any issues. The open table and reservation process is not very efficient here sadly. We asked if we could make a reservation for next Friday on a Friday and they said you can only make a reservation for Friday on the Monday of that week. Most reservations for Friday's 5-7PM happy hour are all booked by Wednesday or Thursday usually. Happy Hour Specials include $1 Nigiri, $2 Sashimi, $3 Hand Sushi Rolls, $4 Classic Sushi Rolls, $3 Draft Beers, 2 4 1 House Wines, Monday through Friday 5-7PM and Saturday through Sundays 12-3PM. On Tipsy Tuesdays, get 2 4 1 Wells, 2 4 1 Saketinis, and $8 Sake flights! The Chocolate Martini was made all wrong, did not come with Godiva Chocolate liquor or Vanilla Vodka, and was the worst tasting Chocolate Martini I ever had. I mentioned this to the server and she said she didn't make the drink. The server should have had the bartenders remake the drink properly. I mentioned it again and the server said she would bring additional milk and chocolate. The drink was still terrible. Do Not get the Chocolate Martini here! 1/10 The Tampa Sushi Roll came with Tempura whitefish, Japanese mayonnaise, scallion & smelt roe. 8/10 The Mexican Sushi Roll came with Tempura shrimp, Japanese mayonaise, avocado & smelt roe. 8/10 My sushi rolls did not come with spicy mayo or eel sauce and I got charged extra for sauce on the roll which usually doesn't happen at most sushi places. Service was a little slow and it was not that busy on a Saturday during lunch time so do not come here if you're in a hurry. I really liked the feng shui decor with buddahs everywhere, Japanese red paper lit up lanterns, and upside down fans hanging from the ceiling. There is a large outdoor patio for those wanting dining in a lower risk open air area. If you're in the Westchase Area, and looking for the best sushi happy hour, I highly recommend Sushi Alive Asian Bistro & Raw Bar!

Yelp
Sushi is just ok - portions have gotten much much more smaller. Sadly! Kids meal udon chicken & steak was a solid portion & good... overall I don't see myself coming back again & service was ok too. Noise level is moderate to high. I've been here in the past for lunch & dinner but this time quantity / quality definitely has gone down hill.
google avatar

Rachael O.

Yelp
Literally my go-to sushi place in tampa!! They're always so friendly, the sushi is extremely fresh and no matter which roll you get- they're always good. The Hawaii five o roll is one of my faves but this time I decided to try something new! The volcano roll was really good. The Florida roll is something I always get too!
google avatar

Mari H.

Yelp
I have been here when it is 100% a hit and then I've been here when it was a miss. Good thing, it is more times than not a hit. I had previously had a discussion with Ben on the "mainland" version of Poke and how it kinda drives me insane with all the "poke" places popping up that are not the traditional Poke at all based on how they are made and are really just a bowl with rice. So when were at Sushi Alive, I read the description of their Poke and it was traditional, we ordered that for our appetizer so he could actually try real Poke. He liked it much more too! We generally order a few rolls to share, trying out new options each visit.
google avatar

Katie K.

Yelp
We pass by this restaurant often and frequently comment on how we need to try it. We finally did and oh my goodness it was delicious! Probably the best sushi spot we've been to. Portions were generous and everything was so tasty. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Wanted a quick bite after a day of touring Hillsborough county parks and came to Sushi Alive. Pros: - Love the outdoor seating, even on a hot day, it's relaxing and well shaded. - Bartender was fantastic. While we sat in the back the bartender was our server. He was attentive, polite, and make great recommendations. - Food is solid. Cons: - I give this place five stars with a bit of a caution. The sushi is good but it's not anything to write home about. It's fresh, but it's the same stuff you get everywhere in Florida. Lots of rolls with cream cheese which I still don't understand but that's ok. I don't expect anything extraordinary which is exactly why I like. It's consistent and we know what to expect. Highly recommend for a night out with friends or a casual date.
google avatar

Christopher L.

Yelp
Excellent fish! Seriously. This is a great sushi place. Easy parking. Lots of seating. Friendly attentive staff. Great Happy Hour specials. This place has everything you need!
google avatar

Kim N.

Yelp
I wish we could do half stars and although I would love to support local business , five rolls for two people should have been filling. We ordered the gator roll, Japanese bagel roll, Tampa roll, volcano roll, rising phoenix roll. The size of the rolls were smaller than what we are accustomed to , we are not big portion eaters but this left is still looking for snacks afterwards. Being our first time here we ordered some specialty rolls and some classics. None of which were very memorable - very mediocre and the best I can compare to is Publix sushi. There is no Wow factor dancing of my taste buds after trying all 5 rolls which great sushi should have.
google avatar

Mandie F.

Yelp
Super big sushi restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating great for large groups or if you want to bring your dog. They have great early night and late night happy hour specials so I would come for that but obviously expect nothing extraordinary when it comes to the happy hour sushi. The service is good and the food comes out pretty fast a la carte style. I will definitely be back again for happy hour. The edamame was okay. I liked the Gyoza but thought the best app was the ahi tuna and I don't even like ahi tuna normally. They do charge for extra sauce so just be mindful of that if that's something you care about. The outside porch area is really nice and zen and part of it is covered so it is a nice vibe for a porch setting.

Emily T.

Yelp
Fran was super sweet and attentive Food is super yummy, i would ask for her specifically she was so on que and sweet
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
This place has really good potential but the sushi was rolled very sloppy the Wings appetizer was terrible. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is for the service and BOGO sangria that was great! The volcano roll had great flavor but looked like my toddler rolled it! Neither of the sushi rolls stayed together so although they tasted great I can't give a five star review. The Far East wings were all breading and very greasy. I would never order these again and should just be taken off the menu! Our server was very attentive and sweet and the bogo sangria was delicious and I love that they add cinnamon to it. Probably will not visit here again for sushi but maybe for the happy hour specials!
google avatar

Sandra D.

Yelp
I love this neighborhood gem. Food is good and the ambiance is perfect. The service is hit or miss. The last 3 times it has been wonderful. They might possibly be under new management.
google avatar

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
Favorite Sushi Happy Hour in all of Tampa! Favorite rolls are gator, florida, spicy tuna, and the house salad ginger dressing is the best I've tried! Line forms out front before it opens for happy hour, so plan accordingly or you'll have to wait! Also fun to sit at the sushi bar!!
google avatar

Nikki L.

Yelp
Great food, friendly and attentive staff, with great comfy outdoor seating. We love coming here to unwind and meet up with friends.

Yelp
Two years later and I'm back with an update! Sushi alive has immensely changed since my last review. Their happy hour is so worth it and the service is significantly better. They make an effort to get your order and drinks in right away especially with the happy hour deal specials! Our waiter even stopped by before the deal ended to ask if we wanted to order more. The happy hour special is so worth it! The rolls are $4, they also have nigiri, sashimi and hand roll specials. My favorite rolls are always the Mexican, Florida and gator rolls. As for drinks they have specials on wine and beer as well as saketinis on tuesdays! I haven't had a chance to try it yet but they also have 8pm to close deals which seem super worth it including half off appetizers and sangria deals. The rolls are fresh, satisfying and yummy! They're a good portion for the price! Id recommend getting here early for happy hour since there can often be a wait especially on Thursday's and fridays!
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Ok but no menus and most of the time it's closed. Busy on some days but I rather go to hot tuna
google avatar

Meci A.

Yelp
Pros: beautiful California style ambiance, great food presentation, parking no problem, fresh ingredients, reasonable price Cons: sushi was just OK , i had better sushi from Publix, the ginger dressing on the salad was disgusting, miso soups was not good, teriyaki steak was ok and kid's finger chicken was very dry and kids did not like their food, service was very slow

Joe F.

Yelp
Went in today around 6:15 got seated and after 20 minutes sitting and not even have a person ask if we wanted water or to get our order. We decided to leave told the hostess on the way out but not response. Just won't come back there loss.

Go T.

Yelp
Amazing service. Amazing food. Go during happy hour. $5 sushi is an amazing deal. Salmon Tempura Roll is actually amazing. Took me a while to find one that's just right. Would come back again. 5 stars.

Sabra S.

Yelp
They lost our ticket. Waited over an hour. Manager said she was comping our bill, came back and said she didn't say that only a 15% discount. Not coming back.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
I should've mentioned they have a really nice outdoor area. It's big with pavers high tops, regular sit tables, lounge area, fire table. I was really turned off, obviously purely principal based- I wanted a little bit of Sriracha and they charged me for it. Come on.
