Sushi by Bou- Gold Coast Chicago @ Claridge House

We love this place! Visited for the second time last night and had a wonderful experience again! We always stay at the Claridge House which is how we first discovered it, but if you like sushi it's worth making the trip here. Actually, my husband isn't even a big sushi fan but he agreed to try it with me, and he couldn't believe how much he loved it. I can't believe he agreed to go a second time, and is already looking forward to our next trip back! I eat sushi all the time and this is an extra special treat. For someone like him who doesnt eat it regularly, it's a unique and special dining experience. It's a great way to try new things and see what you like, and you can add on more pieces at the end if you really liked something. Drinks and service are also incredible, the staff is all so kind and attentive and it's an upscale but fun and welcoming environment.

1st time and was an amazing experience.. great attention the food was incredible. The combination of flavors, textures and temperatures was incredible. For any recommendations or suggestions ask Chelsea and if you can ask to dine with Chef Pau he will provide you a great service.

We recently had our first omakase experience at Sushi by Bou, and while it was worth trying once, we found it a bit overpriced and overrated. The 12-course menu featured a variety of high-quality selections, including hamachi, akami, botanebi, ikura, bincho, maguro, hotate, gindara, toro, sake, wagyuni, and unagi. While the craftsmanship was evident, we genuinely enjoyed only three—bincho, toro, and sake—while the rest didn’t quite impress us. The flavors and textures varied, but some pieces felt underwhelming for the price. That said, it was a unique experience with a solid ambiance, just not one we’d rush to repeat.

Great service, great vibe. The food was pretty good but nothing stunning. We didn’t feel full after 12 pieces of nigiri, either. But this is a pretty good price for omakase anyway.

Was excited to finally have my first omakase experience! Overall the food was just incredible... the flavors paired so well together. The only downside was that we were the only people in the entire space on a Thursday night, so it was just a little awkward at times. The chef was also pretty quiet so just wish there had been a little bit more of an upbeat atmosphere!

My fiancé and I had an excellent time at Sushi by Bou - Gold Cost in celebration of my birthday. Sushi by Bou holds a special place in our hearts for we used to celebrate special occasions at the Jersey City location before relocating to Chicago. We were so pleased that this location knocks it out of the park too! We experienced the most flavorful Omakase we’ve had in Chicago, on the house sake for my birthday and stellar service.

Fantastic Omakase experience! Service was exceptional. The food was delicious. The vibe and decor inside were similar to a roaring 20s speakeasy. Very cool spot!

This the second Sushi by Boy location we have been to and so far my favorite. Great atmosphere and food and I loved the special add-on at the end. Straightforward sushi that I personally enjoyed every bite. The 12-course meal was a perfect way to end of Saturday night. The complimentary sake at the beginning was good, but I always love a nice junmai daiginjo. We got drinks at the hotel bar prior and that lady was AMAZING at making drinks. I would definitely recommend her old fashioned.

My partner and I went for the Omakase experience at Sushi by Bou Goldcoast location. This is our 2nd time doing the omakase experience and we had such a great time. The space is beautiful, it's giving 1920s speakeasy / Gatsby vibes and the music was really good to. We received a warm welcome and enjoyed some shots of sake while waiting for our seats. The sushi was super tasty and fresh! Our fav was the fatty tuna- Toro (I think..). We loveeee tuna so no surprise that this one was our favorite. All the other pieces the chef prepared were delicious and each one different from the next- u never knew what to expect next haha (in a fun good way of course). If you are an adventurous eater and don't mind consuming raw fish/seafood, I would definitely recommend this experience. *the experience is $65 per person for 12 pieces. U can also order extra pieces afterwards at an extra costs. **they have 4/ 5 different locations in the city, the west loop location is more intimate than this one and has a hip hop theme, Goldcoast has a more 1920s speakeasy chilled vibe. We had a good time at both!

This was my first ever omakase experience and the expectations are now set pretty high for my next one. I ordered a highball to enjoy the meal with. The drink was subtle and citrusy with a light hint of whisky. It paired really well with my nigiris. All of the nigiris were my favorite but what caught me by surprise was the scallop and eel. I haven't had anything like this before. The scallop sort of melted in your mouth...a delicious surprise to say the least. I kept wanting more honestly. I also ordered extra bigger hand rolls as well as I kept wanting more. The chef and servers were super nice and accommodating. The vibe was very calming and chill. They handed out a few on the house sake shots and we all had a great time celebrating such a delicious meal! I will definitely come back when I visit Chicago again.

Walking into Sushi by Bou- Gold Coast is like walking into a set of Great Gatsby! The host and manager were extremely welcoming. We started our meal with a sparkling yuzu lemonade added vodka. This drink was just ok. The 12 course meal was great and we added on hand roll, Bou of Chi, at the end was the best sushi hand roll Ive had. Favorite pieces hamachi, botan ebi, hotate and o-toro. The Bou of Chi is a speciality to the Gold Coast location it has wagyu, scallop, truffle, mayo and fried shallot.

Sushi by bou is located on the ground floor of the Claridge hotel. We were immediately greeted by the hostess who was super friendly. The interior is dimly lit and swanky. It was a bit 1920's style and well decorated. We were a tad early, so we waited in the front waiting room and ordered drinks. We both got the sparkling yuzu lemonade with vodka. It was refreshing though a bit sour. We were seated shortly after at the bar which was about 10-12 seats all in a row. Our chef was nice and explained what each dish was. I liked watching the chef create each bite. My favorites were the: Hamachi (yellowtail) Botan Ebi (prawn) Hotate (scallop) Gindara (miso cod) Toro (fatty tuna) The star of the show was a piece exclusive to the location that wasn't on the 12 course menu. The Bou of Chi was UNREAL! One of the best bites I've ever had. It was wagyu, scallop, mayo, pickles truffle, regular truffle and fried shallot. A MUST GET!

This is the third Sushi by Bou location I have been, and it was quite good! Like the other locations it's on the ground floor of a hotel. Vibe is intimate and modern, and the wait staff and sushi chefs were friendly and attentive! My partner and I made reservations for a Wednesday night using the deal that was 2 people for the price of one, and the seating was filled! Which makes sense because it was an amazing deal! Made for a fun ambience too. I think several others were also using the deal. We came several minutes late and it appeared that the chefs were waiting for us to start. Very considerate! We felt bad for being a bit late but everyone seemed okay with it and I'm glad they waited the few extra minutes. It made our experience more positive. Pro tip: make sure you get to your reservation a few minutes early if you can! Since the whole group will wait to start. We ordered the typical omakase set and it was all so fresh and delicious! I love the variety of flavors and textures. Every bite is truly a treat. We also ordered a few cocktails which were refreshing, and a spicy hand roll to finish off the meal. Highly recommend Sushi by Bou (at any location) for those who want to eat bougie on a budget! It's consistently good and affordable quality :) I will keep coming back!

We visited for the 12 course omakase. Overall, this is a solid sushi spot for the price - the omakase is some of the cheapest I've seen in Chicago. The restaurant is located in a hotel and has a lounge vibe to it, which was cozy. My friend and I arrived late for our reservation due to road closures. While the meal felt rushed, we were the last reservation of the night and the staff was understanding about our late arrival. The chef was awesome and immediately served us. The food itself was about what I'd expected given the price. Definitely not as impressive as some of the other places I've been to, but on par with the cost. If you're looking for a more affordable omakase, this could be worth checking out.

First off, the staff were extremely friendly!! They even offered us free sake. Ambiance was also really nice-- the restaurant is located on the first floor of a hotel, so it was pretty posh and very clean. We got the omakase-- the fish quality was good, but not great. I've been to a lot of omakases in Asia so it might not be fair to make this comparison, but I definitely did think that the rice quality could be a bit better. But overall, for the price, I think it's a pretty safe choice if you're craving some sushi!

Phenomenal experience! Non-traditional omakase experience but great quality of fish/sushi nonetheless. The chefs were attentive and accommodating, and really liked the short and to-the-point commentary they provided before each course. If made everything feel much less pretentious and more casual and comfortable - definitely highly recommend for a dinner date with friends!

I was shocked by Sushi by Bou in the best way. When you see an instagram promotion for a $60 omakase deal, you kinda have to keep your expectations in check. But I was blown away by the quality of the food here. There was little presentation for each course but for the price, they could have thrown the sushi at me from across the room and I would have been pleased. I would go back just for the Miso Cod course alone it was crazy good. Its a quick meal, just an hour for the whole meal portion if you don't do any additional ala cart bites at the end, but you're free to stay in the lounge area and have a cocktail, which I appreciated not being rushed out. I was really impressed. Will definitely be going back!

Great sushi, packed with lots of depth and flavor, the $60 CRW Omakase was delicious. Cute spot at the Claridge Hotel, nice bar seating. Service was good, but I felt it went by really quick, so in some ways, it felt a bit rushed. I think we were done in 40 minutes. Having been to a few Omakase experiences, I'd say that flavor was great here, but the pieces are smaller than I've had at other experiences I've joined. Worth checking out because it truly is delicious overall. My favorite was the Wayguni. I paired my Omakase with a glass of Heavensake. Bill after everything + tip $100.

This was my boyfriend and I's first omakase experience and it was so fun and the sushi was fantastic!! We were amongst the last diners and the staff were immediately so friendly. The previous set of diners were running late, so we did have to wait for about 30 minutes or so. However, they gave us plenty of free sake to make up for the wait! The chef was really nice and explained all the dishes. I think for $60, the 12 course menu we got was a pretty good deal, though the serving sizes do reflect the price as the pieces are a bit small! The wagyuni was probably my favorite! After the set amount of pieces, you can then order your favorites a la carte. We also got some free mochi since they were out of a lot of their flavors by the end of the night. The interior was so cool too and definitely gave some intimate vibes. Overall, an amazing dinner only made better by the extremely friendly chef and servers :)

This omakase experience was 12 courses for $60. It was supposed to be an hour long but our omakase started almost half an hour later since they were running late. I thought maybe that meant our experience would run 30 min late as well but it ended up getting squeezed within 30 min... overall the entire experience felt super rushed. The pieces were all coming out too quickly and they were not only on the smaller side but also lacked the mind blowing freshness I usually find in omakases. There are definitely better omakase spots out there.

This was my first omakase experience and I couldn't have asked for a better introduction. Talkative but pleasant environment, great ambience with the classy decor, amazing service with personable workers/chefs and overall a great time. The price speaks for itself and the fish were great. I had pieces exceed my expectations and we even were given complimentary sake for both a birthday celebration and to end off the 12-course experience. Could not recommend more, it truly felt like everyone involved went above and beyond for this night. Thank you and hope to come again soon!

what a wonderful first omakase experience. i had wanted to try omakase for a while, and at $60, this can't be beat. note that the restaurant week "deal" isn't really a deal because the basic 12-course omakase is regularly $60. i'm not mad though because this was the best sushi i've had to date. some highlights were the wagyu with uni, the fatty tuna with truffle salt, and the miso cod. the workers here are all very nice and will ensure your experience is a memorable one. the ambiance is also very swanky - i believe this location is 1920s themed? check out pics of 10/12 of the basic omakase menu (yelp only lets you upload 10)! i WILL return to try the bougie 17-course!

Had a fantastic time doing omakase at Sushi by Bou! Each course was delicious, and the cocktail flight was amazing! The service was so friendly, but my one complaint is that we didn't get seated until 8:50pm for an 8pm dinner reservation, which was late for a weeknight.

Second time coming here and they just deliver! I love the ambiance and the space of this omakase spot. They have beautiful couches and chairs for everyone in the waiting area. You get greeted by the enthusiastic front desk and they provide you your drink while you wait for the bar area to finish their previous reservation. It's a great experience watching the chef create each item off the menu. They do a wonderful job describing what's in each item and carefully create a masterpiece everytime! The fatty tuna and the salmon roe are to die for. We also appreciated the shot of sake at the end with the chef. My boyfriend and I came during restaurant week and it was about $170 including tip and tax. Highly recommend!

Still dreaming about my meal here. Easily in the top 10 meals I have ever eaten but this is my first time doing omakase so I don't have much to compare to. You may not be full after the chefs choice but you are able to order your favorites and the chef will whip them up! The hamachi was so so so good.

I feel like I've been baptized in Lake Sushi by Bou. Seriously. My experience with sushi has only been of the maki roll kind and I can't believe I've been depriving myself for so long. Well, actually I can. See, ordering a roll is easy. But ordering individual pieces is overwhelming for me because I don't know what's what. And also, and raw pieces of fish with no accoutrements (or so I thought) never really excited me. And also, I never had a sushi connoisseur take me on such a magical journey. Intro the handsome man who invited me to Sushi by Bou for a 12-course Omakase tasting. Since I think I know absolutely EVERYTHING there is to know about food, I was a bit flummoxed. I never heard of this Omakase before. I was running a little late for our 6:00pm reservation and he said he had to move our res to 7pm. Damn, we can't get a 15 minute grace period? He said it was a timed situation. Hmmmm...the plot thickens. We pull up to the Claridge Hotel and found our way to the super-sexy, super-intimate space that was Sushi by Bou. A whole entire vibe. I'll call it speakeasy-chic...and the music was the perfect accompaniment to a perfect de-flowering. We were seated by our amazing host, introduced to Chef Jane and the Omakase experience began. So, Omakase basically means chef's choice and this oarucikar tasting was an hour. Apparently some experiences offer more courses which take more time. So after ordering two luscious, mouth-watering cocktails (the kyosho cocktail for me and the yuzu honey bee for the gentlemen), I spent the next hour tasting flavors that were pretty much foreign to me. Each piece more delectable than the last. What caused me to pause, however, was the Otoro. As soon as I placed the tuna in my mouth my tastebuds were set in motion by a refreshingly umami surge. When I sank my teeth into it, I was undeniably, completely and hopelessly in love. Where has Otoro been all my life? The lively back and forth with Jane, describing the flavors in each piece, rapt attention paid to us by our host (I'm so sorry I can't remember her name but she was AMAZING) was above and beyond the call of duty. My date was the perfect gentleman which was the icing. After we finished our 12-courses, they said we could add additional pieces if we so desired. Oh, I desired. I desired another Otoro and the unagi (bbq eel). Sushi by Bou exceeded any expectations I ever had of sushi. I'm blown away and can't wait to go back. Jane even told us about an even more intimate Omakase experience at Hotel Lincoln. If you are a true foodie, you owe yourself this experience. I highly recommend and will be back!!

Servers were incredibly welcoming and fun! We had a bit of a wait time but they helped us at the lounge area, making sure our big group was attended to. Our chef was very pleasant and made sure we enjoyed the food. Overall great experience!

I got the deal $70 for 2 and it was absolutely worth it. Great value especially for omakase. It was quick. It took an hour for 12 course omakase.

If you've been wanting to try and omakase but not ready to say screw it and drop $100-$200 per person, Sushi by Bou $60 omakase is a perfect way to dip your toes in the water. We went to the Gold Coast location inside Claridge house. All the fish was buttery and smooth, but definitely smaller pieces and not as creative as other Omakase's I've been too. I will admit I left a little hungry. But again, for a $60 omakase, it was still an enjoyable experience and great for beginners. When you get into the more creative tastings, you'll sometimes be eating weird combos that might scare you at first. I did wish they explained more about where the fish came from and the prep process. My favorite pieces were the Miso Cod and Unagi. I also like they write down the tasting menu for the night. A $60 omakase did accidentally turn into a $168 buck meal after 3 glasses of wine and tip and tax.... oops. Overall it was a fun dinner with my friends and would come back, 7.8/10 dinner experience.

I made a reservation at Sushi By Bou the day prior and was able to get a weekday slot at 5:45PM. I must admit, I did get a little lost trying to find the place since Sushi By Bou is in the same building as a few other restaurants. The ambiance was great; it felt very intimate. As soon as I arrived, I was seated at the bar to start my omakase experience. Chef Tarn was my sushi chef for the evening and he did an incredible job. He was friendly, personable, and always checked up to make sure I was doing okay. The other staff was also super friendly and constantly refilled my water. Super attentive! The omakase menu has an incredible value for $50! The sushi is incredibly well-prepared and very fresh. The one complaint I had is that the sushi rice was slightly crunchy, a little under-cooked. This isn't something I expect from a place serving high-quality sushi, but the fish was so good that it wasn't a big deal. My favorites were the o-toro and the sake. So buttery and delicious. This was a great omakase experience. I think for first-timers, it would've been nice to receive an explanation on what to expect and how to eat the sushi. But I thought this was a great experience for a great deal. I would come back anytime to eat Chef Tarn's sushi!

RATING: 6/10 My sister and I came here excitedly to try the $60 omakase special after wanting to try omakase but being held back by the large price point. Needless to say, we got what we paid for. When we first arrived around 6:30, the place was completely empty. Although we booked a reservation, the staff seemed confused when we came in and paused a bit before asking if we wanted to wait. Our chef who made all of our movie was very knowledgeable and warm. We also enjoyed the sushi with the fatty tuna being especially notable. However, the dining experience was extremely quick, and as avid sushi lovers, we weren't mind blown by the flavor combinations or fish. We were also still hungry after and had to eat our lunch leftovers to fill our stomachs haha. I'd recommend saving up your money to go all out at a more famous omakase restaurant instead of coming here. We left the place wistful for an ayce sushi restaurant.

This Sushi by Bou is the best value you can find for an omakase in the the Midwest. You truly cannot pay less for such an amazing experience with amazingly fresh sushi, warm hospitality and an awesome venue. Venue -- Sushi by Bou's are usually inside hotel suites vs. actual restaurants. This happens to be an actual restaurant with a nice sized bar for seating. I've only eaten at one other location in MIA, and this spot is 3x the size. The décor is intentionally prohibition era speakeasy, and its extremely tastefully done. The lighting is perfect and the furniture is comfortable. Service -- You basically get 3 Michelin service at an absolute bargain, the host / bar even pushes in your seat! The executive chef, Chef Tarn is extremely personable and can tell you exactly where each cut is sourced from. Food prep -- Chef Tarn is a freaking magician with sushi. Everything is composed perfectly, and his handiwork is immaculate. He keeps the kitchen spotless and everything is lined up ahead of your seating. Food -- EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME. All the fish was incredibly fresh. Highlights for me were definitely the Uni (sourced from Santa Barbara), which was incredibly rich and not expected at this price point. The Scallop was a jaw dropper as well. Add-ons are a good value, my girlfriend absolutely loved the "Big Mac". Chef Tarn really piled on the uni!! Pro-Tip: Be cool and they'll hook you up with free sake.

Celebrated my promotion with a bomb dot com surprise @sushibybou_ Lincoln Park Chicago Great vibe, albeit a bit fast with a 1.5h seating, it was still a really fun and intimate seating the 12-course omakase just kept getting better and better with my favorite salmon roe, fatty tuna, salmon belly, wagyu uni, towards the end! Then we ordered their a la carte specials , the Big Mac & Bou of Chi. Big Mac as you can see is a huge hand roll with wagyu, toro, scallop, and uni. All my FAVORITES. Bou of Chi had wagyu, scallop mayo, truffle , & crunchy fried scallops. I'd say these are must orders We did the same pairing + champagne and ended with 4 awesome flavors of mochi ice cream OMAKASE: HAMACHI yellowtail AKAMI lean tuna BOTAN EBI* spotted prawn IKURA salmon roe BINCHO* albacore MAGURO* chopped tuna HOTATE* Scallop GINDARA* miso cod TORO* fatty tuna SAKE salmon WAGYUNI* surf & turf UNAGI bbq eel

BEST EXPERIENCE! Food was wonderful, staff was kind, funny and helpful! The ambiance was moody and fun-perfect for a girls night! The Yuzu honey bee cocktail is amazing! Will definitely be coming back!

Usually bargain prices and superior sushi, to say nothing of omakase, are mutually exclusive. Not so at Sushi by Bou. For $65/ person, guests can enjoy a 12-course nigiri-only meal at this gem tucked in back of the Claridge House hotel that does anything but skimp on high end sushi ingredients. Wagyu, uni, and toro all feature, along with other delicious cuts of fish. The meal is scheduled for one hour, but the pacing feels anything but rushed. Along with excellent sushi, the staff provides prompt and friendly drink service. Of course, there are concessions to account for the bargain price but they are more than fair: the 1-hour length means you will not be lingering over a long meal (although omakase usually is faster than other fine dining). And the pieces are on the smaller side, so the meal will be light.

The reason I didn't take pics of each piece was because I ate them as soon as they were served. Amazing, delicious, and ...unpretentious omakase! This concept of a rehearsed, formulaic, without being cookie cutter, omakase at a very reasonable price is a huge win in my book. I'm sure the menu changes often but the chef had a systematic approach and proficiently prepared, explained, and served each course. Many of the nigiri pieces would go up against much more expensive omakase courses I've had in other cities. It's exciting to see this restaurant concept is expanding, and I cannot wait to frequent their locations in my home state of Florida. I did the sake pairing and it was ok. My only suggestion is to elevate the sake and wine list. There is a full liquor bar next door in the front part of the hotel.

This was the most overpriced Sushi experience of my life, and I've been eating Sushi all over the world for the last 30 years. The sushi was paper thin and the rice was extremely small and the pricing was exorbitant. In addition, the music they played in the restaurant was extremely annoying and as far from Japanese culture as possible. i would never recommend this to anyone. In addition, I traveled with four people, and we all left a restaurant and got pizza afterwards we were so hungry. what a waste.

Went here for Valentine's Day dinner service and it was great! The decorations definitely have a roaring 20s vibe, so it gave us a nice chance to dress nice. No dress code, so other diners were very casual. The music was jiving and it made for a fun, casual omakase experience. We got the 17-course bougie special, but we definitely felt almost full with the 12-course. The sake was also good between bites. For the price and vibe, this is a really great first introduction to omakase and makes it less intimidating if you never had it before.

Was feeling "bou-gie" and got the 17-course omakase! Had a wonderful meal with our chef, who is also at the Hotel Lincoln location. He was very personable and walked us through every piece, with a few new fun facts as well. He saw me taking a video when he was torching the wagyu and was kind enough to give a close-up! Favorite pieces included the toro, sake and wagyuni (surf & turf torched wagyu beef with uni on top). Last piece was unagi and was a great, sweet piece to end on. Ordered drinks too and thought they were good and strong (enough) and went well with the omakase! I enjoyed the shiso southsider! The ambiance was very much like a speakeasy, music included. Also, at the end they give you a one free sake coupon if you ever come again. Overall nice experience.

Wonderful experience! Chef Tarn and server Chelsea were so much fun and provided an excellent omakase and drink to suit our flavor profile! The ambiance was a nice and chill, quite enough to have a conversation with our party and bar mates. Omakase was great, but the hand rolls were on another level!

Chef was totally dope and we had the Diamonds and Pearls package. As well as had some extra ala carte and it was so worth it. I'm still not over it. Got some cute photos and had to document all my sushi pieces, but y'all should experience for yourself.

Big sushi aficionado already, but this was my first omakase experience and I can honestly say it was 10/10. All of the 12 rolls were delicious, and the fish tasted fresh. Both chefs were very knowledgeable and efficient. We also got a drink and mochi ice cream at the end which were fantastic! Setting-wise, the restaurant feels cozy and swanky, and this paired well with such an intimate dining experience. Highly recommend!

Our reservation was not there. The host told us that she is not sure what happened. And then they told us they can get us in an hour. We just left.

I am so excited for this spot! It's the most delicious omakase you can get for $50! You get 12 pieces expertly prepared in a sushi speakeasy. The drinks are delicious. I really enjoyed the Shiso Southsider but another popular one is the Yuzu Honeybee. The space is absolutely gorgeous. It's located in the Claridge Hotel. Sushi Boutique is towards the front of the hotel but if you go towards the back, behind the curtains, you'll find Sushi by Bou. It officially opens this Friday, May 20th so make sure you book your reservations on Open Table!

Honestly had pretty low expectations given the business model of the place. $60 for 12 pieces of quality sushi seemed a little too good to be true. After my dinner last night, however, I'd say that I was too quick to judge. It wasn't amazing by any means, but definitely a solid meal and a good starting point for someone wanting to try omakase without investing too much time/money. The sushi chef was friendly and informative, telling us about each piece and answering any questions. The meal was efficient, with each piece coming out a few minutes apart. We were a bit late for our reservation, but overall the 12 courses came out in less than 45 minutes. A bit rushed, but we still felt like we were able to appreciate each piece of sushi and chat during our meal. The stand outs were the fatty tuna, the salmon, and the eel. The salmon roe, shrimp, and scallop were also very good--tender and very fresh. The only real criticism I have is that the rice isn't the best (it's a bit soft and gummy), and some of the fish had a bit of a fishy taste (nothing terrible, just not the best quality). I will also say that I left feeling a bit hungry. Not like hungry hungry, just not full, if that makes sense. Overall, decent experience at an unbeatable price.

Had a great time here! The Omakase was fantastic. Very roll was fresh and unique. I love that the other chicago locations feel speakeasy-ish, with hidden doors or in basements. This location doesn't have that feel, it's just in a hotel lobby, but it ticked every other box. The staff is also fun and there are great host.

Literally still dreaming about the pieces here. It was INCREDIBLE. So much flavor and every sushi piece was meticulously put together. Insane. Highly recommend!!

This was truly exceptional. Have done a lot of Omakase from Chicago to Japan. Value/ quality/ service combo here is phenomenal, mainly thanks to Chef Ump and Sky. Highlights were toro, Big Mac, spotted prawn, and unagi. Will absolutely be back.

Writing a lengthy review here so patrons have an idea of what to expect! I'm going to do my best to be fair in my review, given the fact that this location just opened up ~6 months ago according to the hostess. What's great: If you've never experienced omakase before and have been hesitant to try it because of the price, this restaurant offers a fantastic value opportunity to get 12 pieces for $60. The restaurant is small and very chic, tucked in the back of a hotel lobby. You sit at the sushi counter and have an intimate experience interacting with the chefs. Both of the chefs last Saturday night when we visited were really engaging with the guests. I also like that they clearly list out all the pieces ahead of time so you know what to expect, and you know what's still to come. Standout pieces that I really enjoyed were the miso cod hand roll and the toro (fatty tuna) with the truffle salt. What's not so great: If you *have* already been to an amazing omakase experience before, you won't be overly impressed by the food here. This is not intended as a comment on the chefs, but more so the quality of the fish and the simplicity of their dining model. I didn't find the pieces to be all that flavorful or tender. I should also mention, the 12 pieces for $60 occurs in the span of half an hour. The 30-minute time slot makes the entire experience feel a bit rushed. There's a 17 piece omakase upgrade that's a 1 hour experience, but we were led to believe we'd be able to make that decision closer to the time of the reservation then found out at the restaurant they would not be able to accommodate. I'd book that experience ahead of time if you're trying to really turn it into a date night. The restaurant also does not offer any sides of vegetables, rice, etc so if you only choose to the 30-min option, you're going to be in and out pretty fast and probably still hungry afterwards. To summarize: Sushi by Bou is an intimate, chic restaurant that offers the opportunity to try simple Omakase in a more casual (and quick) setting at an affordable price. If you're happy going in with that expectation, you will be pleased!

During a beautiful stay at The Claridge Hotel in Chicago I decided to try the sweet potato sushi roll and sweet potato chips from Sushi By Bou since it was located on the first level of the hotel. I love sweet potatoes and I'm vegetarian so I was happy to support after seeing the great photos of these items on Instagram. I was getting ready for a event so I decided to scan the QR code from my room to order. Select items can be delivered to your room but I chose to pick mine up from the coffee bar located next to the front entrance of the hotel. It was just the right amount to eat 6 pieces of sushi and half the chips before going out and finish the chips as a post bar snack. I didn't go in but the restaurant space looks gorgeous with beautiful lighting, seating and atmosphere. Perfect for a intimate date night or group outing with friends. The sushi experience at the bar looks amazing and the drinks look great. The whole hotel is very pretty, inviting and great for pictures.

We were here on February 17 and did the bougie course for dinner as part of our dinner/date night first night of our getaway (we were staying at the hotel as well). It was a neat experience, we had never done Omakase before so it was new to us. We each ordered drinks, which neither of us liked, and actually ended up swapping and then each had one more. They actually treated us to a shot during the dinner which we all drank together. The sushi was all delicious, they do give you a list of what rolls you're getting but I wish there was a bit of detail. Obviously I can detect wasabi but some things had toppings and they told us what they were but it could be hard to hear at times (quiet chefs and loud chatter/laughter). We had some nice conversation with the people around us but it was also nice being on the end if we just wanted to talk between the two of us as well. Service was great, they kept your drink full, very complimentary. We did not leave hungry, the bougie menu was definitely enough sushi along with two drinks.

Excellent nigiri dinner. Twelve bites of perfectly balanced flavors. 2 of us opted for the extra 5 courses which were all delicious. I highly recommend it. My only complain is that it was too fast. The experience starts got new guest every hour on the hour

Never experienced sushi one piece at a time.. i was told the term of this style is called namasake by the host samuel.. I like sushi, but this was on another level of flavor and experience! The drinks were great as well. Wonderful staff. They were knowlegable, funny, and accomodating.. hit all three boxes for me!!
