Sushi Damo

Ramen has all the classic ingredients but the portion may be a little less for men. Tempura is good but I prefer thinner coating.

Great sushi. We tried blue mango, soft shell crab as a starter and some other rolls. All was yummy. Pleasant and casual yet cosy and romantic

Went their since our first place was close and wasn't bad. The person I was with said it was their go to place so why not try it. Our waitress was on top of things, always there when we needed her, my friend very much enjoyed her sushi and the seafood teriyaki was tasty. Top it off with a nice vibe and it is a good place to go.

Overpriced, yes, but also the only decent sushi spot in the immediate area. The regular rolls like Salmon Avocado are small, the special rolls like the Golden Roll are bigger, and the Chirashi is remarkably huge. I don't know who decides portion sizes, but they might need a magnifying glass... Also, skip the Strawberry Lemonade. It's made with artificial syrup and tastes like thrown up Kool-Aid.

The food was perfect. The sushi was delicious, fresh, melt in your mouth. Very simple but they have perfected it. Drinks menu was very nice. Service was outstanding.

Excellent service! It was friendly and clean with a great selection. The sushi and. noodles were tasty and they have seating by the bar, open by the window or even to watch the chef make the sushi one by one. Overall it was a really pleasant experience. Definitely highly recommend visiting again.

Our visit started off a bit shaky as my family and I were interested in trying Sushi Damo during happy hour. Unfortunately, happy hour is restricted to the bar and with two little ones, it isn't necessarily appropriate ( I mean I don't care, but most places do)...anyways, upon learning of our intent, the hostess and manager were extremely quick to move us towards the bar and allow us to partake in happy hour...and boy did we ever! With a manager that couldn't be nicer, more attentive and wonderful with our girls, to the food being outrageously amazing (especially the shishito peppers...I mean, absolutely the best I have ever had, and I've had a lot), I cannot recommend Sushi Damo more! The seating was comfortable with wonderful plating and ambiance and every dish that came out was on point! 100% our new favorite Japanese spot in NYC! Thank you for such a wonderful time. We will not soon forget our 10th Anniversary dinner!

Met some friends for dinner here and had a nice time. Service was efficient and prices were pretty good. I had the rock shrimp tempura as an appetizer and enjoyed it. My spicy tuna roll was great and the Sakura roll was great...actually I could have had just that and been full. They have Sapporo beer on tap. I'll definitely return.

We decided that we wanted something different for Thanksgiving dinner and decided on sushi, after calling around sushi damo picked up and we made our way there for dinner. The staff was very friendly! We never had an empty glass of water or plates on the table. I thought the inside was great, and they had a wall of trees, also great music! I decided to have a French 75 to drink that was light and refreshing. To eat we shared pork guizoa that was savory! For sushi I had a rainbow roll, the Hell's Kitchen roll, and salom roe. It was fresh and so good! Loved this decision for thanksgiving dinner 23!

This sushi restaurant was delicious! I loved the tiger eye roll and salmon avacado. Service was fast and the ambiance was beautiful. I would definitely visit again.

Solid sushi restaurant and my go to in the neighborhood. They recently added a ramen menu. They have a pretty extensive drink menu as well. Often busy, but service is mostly prompt and attentive. The Cori Cori is underrated as an appetizer, garlicky, sliced mushrooms over steamed broccoli. Fish offerings are fresh. Other appetizers I've had, including the agedashi tofu and sesame spinach are on point.

This is a great spot for lunches! I've never had to wait, even without a reservation. The fish is very fresh! And they're generous with their portion size. Would recommend for business lunches or just because.

We stumbled upon this spot while visiting the city and we loved it! Great, lively atmosphere and our waiter was really funny & friendly. We split a bunch of apps and then got two rolls, and it was the perfect light dinner for my family of three. My favorite thing by far was the spicy yellowtail sashimi - so fresh & the fish eggs of top added texture to each bite. We had the beef gyoza and the pork gyoza, and all preferred the pork. Shishito peppers were good if you don't like them fried like me. The rolls were great basics. Only thing we didn't care for was the soft shell crab, but i think that was more of a palate preference than it not being well-made/good quality. Overall, we really enjoyed this spot and were very pleased by the quality of fish.

I ordered Uber Eats pickup , it was ready faster than expected and the person who handed me my order was super friendly. It looked delicious with lots of fish, and the first bites were good. To my dismay when I bit into one of the sashimi, I bit something very hard! I spat out a strange hard wooden piece hidden in the white rice :( I enjoyed my first few bites but lost my appetite after this..

a quick meal in Columbus Circle before our movie at Lincoln Square. the place was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon and we were quickly seated near the window. i got the roll combo (california, shrimp tempura, eel cucumber roll) and chose the salad to go with them. the rolls were all quite good, only that the rice seemed a tad too wet but thankfully not mushy. service was good and we had no complaints. a good spot for a quick lunch when you're in the area.

This place was great for us to enjoy sushi with our kids, without being too pretentious. Enjoyed both the sushi and kitchen items. They made my daughters birthday special.

Very reasonably priced but I felt like the fish wasn't super flavorful. Definitely what you'd expect from the price, good portion sizes. Appetizer chicken karage and shrimp tempura could have been left in the fryer for longer.

I am new to the neighborhood and new to NYC. I was hoping this could be my local go to sushi place. Sadly, that's not going to happen. Very disappointing experience. The sushi was average at best. Way too expensive for the quality. One of the sushi chefs was clearly sick and sniffling during my meal. That's very disconcerting. You're putting your customers at risk. Stay home if you're sick. I won't be returning. Two stars because the service and support staff were very good.

Solid sushi spot in Columbus Circle with fresh sashimi and rolls, though nothing extraordinary. My boyfriend and I walked in on a weeknight evening and there was sufficient seating. They also serve ramen, but we opted for the sushi entrees - a sushi deluxe (8 assorted sushi pieces and a tuna roll) and Sushi & Sashimi for 1 (5 pieces sushi, 9 pieces sashimi, and a salmon roll). They also have a Yelp promo for a free dessert with check-in and we ordered the vanilla tempura ice cream. I would pass on this item, as the tempura was too thick and soggy (it felt like a dish out of the 90s).

Pretty decent spot. Food and service were top notch, and I definitely would return in the future if I'm in the area. The price is more or less in line with other restaurants in the area. Speaking of service, I visited the restaurant with diluted eyes after an optometrist appt, and my waitress was kind enough to read certain portions of the menu to me.

Grade A sushi. I had an amazing time. The staff was very professional and the sushi was fabulous, and reasonably priced. The mochi green tea ice cream is so good. It's very unique. Unlike regular ice cream, it's more like a dumpling with ice cream inside.

Decent sushi/ramen spot. I liked that they had quality versions of both since we were craving both. The shrimp tempura roll was good and what you'd expect. The ramen was very flavorful with a lot of depth. The place is a bit pricey but it's what you'd expect for the location.

3.5 star Japanese restaurant at 58th st, columbus circle, Manhattan, NY We had Sunday dinner and was seated near bar since we didn't have a reservation. I ordered sushi deluxe which came with 2 tuna, 2 salmon, 2 yellowtail, 2 eel with a tokyo roll. My hubby had roll combo which came with California, shrimp tempura and eel cucumber roll. The sushi rice was cooked just right and fishes were fresh and gave proper thickness when chewed. But the rice used in rolls had little too much watery texture and rolls were not tightly rolled and the cruchiness of cucumber were missing. Both came with either miso soup or a salad. Otokoyama kimoto, cold sake went well with the sushi and rolls.

Delicious sushi, and excellent sushi rice. Fresh, well rolled, and always kind service. A go to for sushi cravings.

I was craving tempura and decided to try out this spot for a quick bite. It was a busy lunchtime and there was a good ambience. The tempura looked amazing but unfortunately it tasted very odd, almost like a nail polish remover type of taste? I didn't even finish it. Then when I was walking out and passed by the sushi bar, I smelled the same smell so maybe it's some type of cleaner they use. The miso soup was watered down and my egg roll was room temperature. I wanted to like this place, but was disappointed.

The food here is delicious, and the hot sake is on fire! The service was a little slow, but the ambiance was beautiful!! It had such a speakeasy vibe.

Overall, a solid spot! Nothing blew me away, but it tasted very nice and fresh. I really liked the crazy horse roll. The yellowtail scallion roll was just fine. Next time, I'll try some sashimi!

We had a great dinner last night. We sat in the newly renovated bar area and the service and food were both amazing. They were very attentive and helpful. The sushi was great, but I highly recommend starting with the Chilean sea bass tempura. Yummy! We will definitely be back.

On the expensive side but the food is fresh, and food solid. Ordered the shrimp tempura udon for takeaway ($21), and have dined in on rolls / sushi.

After a full day of walking around running work errands, I wanted a light, casual dinner and to sit down to rest my feet. I found the perfect place. It can be casual but still has an elevated feel. I sat by the window and people-watched with great natural lighting. I ordered miso soup and "the monkey" special roll. It really hit the spot! This roll is my new favorite and I'll be back again as it's close to my office. Service was quick and attentive. Noise levels were not crazy even as the restaurant filled up. Solid sushi joint.

The sushi wasn't bad. The miso soup was pretty good and the service was attentive and friendly. Very nice atmosphere. Will give it another try.

I wanted to like this place so much because the sushi was good and fresh BUT there was a hair in my shumai and it ruined my appetite and the entire experience. The server acted like it was normal and although he asked if I wanted a replacement (I said no) he removed it from the bill and that was that. No apology, nothing. It ruined my meal and if they normalize hair being in your food then that's not a place I want to go to. Eat there at your own risk. No matter how good the sushi can be, I don't want to eat hair; thanks but no thanks.

This is our designated regular sushi stop. The Host knows us and for the first visits, he had the same table - so perfect (am currently on a wheelchair) and right next to the windows , great for people-watching on 58th St/Columbus Circle. The sashimi and sushi are fresh and expertly crafted - definitely 5 star quality. The salmon teriyaki is incomparable with a carmelized finish (unlike the usual saucy corn-starchy preparation). The Cori Cori (broccoli, mushrooms with toasted garlic) is incredible - healthy and delicious. My husband enjoys the espresso Martini - a Friday treat! Quality of food : 5 stars/ Quality of service: 5 stars.

HORRIBLE!!! I just ordered from this restaurant on Uber eats and it was disgusting!!!! Chicken was over cooked and smelly so I didn't eat it bc I didn't want to get salmonella poisoning! The shrimp was under cooked and chewy! I can't believe that a restaurant would send food out that looked and smelled this bad! They won't ever get my money again!!!

Both the sushi and drinks are good here. Some of the rolls come with either 6 or 8 pieces but I think it's specified on the menu. I tried the yellowtail roll, spicy salmon, and a special tuna roll. I really like the cucumber gin cocktail. Everything also comes quickly.

Service was excellent and food was amazing and fresh. I got the sushi Deluxe and loved it all. Overall great and would recommend. Ambiance was nice

Sushi Damo meets all my criteria for doing things right. The food is fresh and delicious, the service is attentive and helpful, and the restaurant is very pleasant to spend time in. It's a true find.

Ordered a roll combo (eel avocado, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna) and some vegetable yaki udon for carry out last week, order placed via their website. The order came on time and I was surprised how tasty the veggie noodles were! The sushi was also tasty but if I was to reorder it would be because of the noodles. Would order again!

Delicious especially on this rainy night. They also have a sushi bar. Very filling. A little noisy but we'll appointed restaurant.

What a fine place. Excellent service, lovely people, beautiful food, excellent wine. Just a perfect experience. I've been there around 6 times. Each time perfect. I recommend it highly.

The interior is nicer than expected. We arrived around 20 mins late for our reservation but they were still able to seat us. I got the sushi deluxe which came with a miso soup. The quality of the fish is definitely not as good as some other places that i have tried such as sugarfish but they have more options here.

Popped in on a weekday evening. I really wanted to like this place but was let down. Unfortunately, the Bad service will not lead me back to this establishment. Management is a complete moron and not Up to par with the guests and location. Staff needs to adapt better communication, attention to detail and perhaps some compassion for its customers. Myself and my party were treated poorly. Other tables near us were complaining due to lack of service and lack of attention. One table sat and left after waiting to be served and not being attended to. Another couple sat for quite a while and almost left after not being greeted. Floor manager tried assisting as well but he was pretty clueless and rude to the tables. Our group ordered hand rolls, various appetizers, drinks, salads and additional special items. Food was good but not out of this world and a bit overpriced for the servings. The rolls were the tiniest rolls I have ever seen. -good taste and fresh but tiny! Will NOT be returning.

I enjoyed my evening at Sushi Damo. It's a quiet little restaurant just off Columbus Circle and hard to miss if you aren't looking. It's opposite Time Warner so before or after your show is an option. Damo is attached to the Redcork bar and I'm not sure if it's the same owners but connecting door allows you to walk between them both without going outside. Simple and elegant decor and pleasant staff. Our server was a bit forgetful but nothing to write about so to be honest I'm not sure why I included this but ah shucks let me stop. The mixed meal of sushi and sashimi was delicious and very filling. Would I be back? If I'm in the area yes. The End.

Really good specialty rolls. A higher price point that others, but there's a clear difference in quality. A great date night location with good ambiance.

I have been here once before and I thought the sushi was good. But the reason I'm giving it 2 stars is not because of the food but my experience on my last visit (2/15). I sat at the bar and ordered a drink and when I got it I noticed that there was a ring at the bottom of the glass, I thought it would've been from when he poured the drink so I asked for paper napkins to clean the table and within a few minutes I saw a ring under my glass again so I thought that's quite strange, so I picked up the glass and when I did I CUT MY HAND!! The drink was leaking because the glass was CRACKED!!!! I told the waiter and he was sorry, but he didn't really do anything about it. After that happened, he disappeared and I got a new waiter who had no clue about what had happened. I asked for the Salmon Paradise and I never got my miso soup that is included with the meal. I later asked for my food to be boxed and when I got home there was no soy sauce when I specifically asked him to put packets of soy sauce in the to go bag. When I received the check, I was expecting that AT LEAST I'd get my drink as complimentary since I CUT MY HAND with their glass, but nope! Not even the drink!! Paid the entire check, had to sign it with my left hand because I couldn't even hold the pen with my right hand. So the place is fine, sushi is good (pricey but I guess it's ok for NYC) but my review is low ONLY because I wasn't expecting to go have dinner and end up getting injured. They should check their dishes after they clean them to make sure they're not a hazard for the customers.

Very good lunch experience at sushi damo. The poke is among the best around. We also ordered the omakase special which was mostly fresh and delicious. The maguro was a little tough but still very tasty. I highly recommend for casual sushi.

Happy that they have lunch specials! The fish was fresh. I got the sashimi special. The yellowtail, salmon, and tuna were great but the other fish was not my favorite. It tasted like it was seared/cooked.
