When traveling, ramen is a must. Ramen is my comfort food and I will continue searching for my golden bowl of noodles.
I was staying in Downtown Greenville and the best option for ramen and sushi was Sushi Go. Yeah, the name was just screaming at me to GO.... NOW!
I went during Friday for a late lunch. I was seated at the sushi bar with a terrible terrible flu. The kind waitress noticed my sniffling and red nose that she offered me plenty of tissues right away. She also served me water while I was deciding my order.
I ordered a miso ramen and nigiri of hamachi, sake, and toro. Oh, and a cup of green tea.!
The miso ramen was the perfect solution for my sick body. It was VERY filling as the there were so much noodles! The noodles were my kind of style, al dente and the thicker kind. The broth was also plentiful and served piping hot! Oh the many times I've had the soup luke warm or cold As for the toppings, they were standard (pork, bamboo, egg, seaweed, and scallions). As I don't eat meat, I can't comment on how the pork was. Ramen wasn't the best I've ever had, but it wasn't the worse either. If I can phrase it accurately, "The bowl that takes you back to your loving family."
My favorite fish has got to be yellowtail, salmon, and fatty tuna. The fish were fresh with no hint of fishyness or staleness to it. The pieces were thick enough to allow two bites. The rice was alright, as it felt like slightly too much vinegar was added.
Throughout my meal, the kind waitress was attentive and refilled my green tea whenever it reached half way. She also made sure I had enough napkins for my nose. Towards the end, it was nice having to chat with one of the sushi chefs at the counter as he was Max Godo, the owner. He was sociable and had a great smile!
Overall, Sushi Go is probably the best in the area but hard to compete with Bay Area or LA. However, the place left me with a great experience!
