Where to Find Standout Sushi Around D.C.

The 11 Best Sushi Restaurants In DC 2024

"Some things are just reliable, like your alarm clock going off at 8:59 am or the food at Sushi Hachi. This modern Japanese restaurant in Capitol Hill is a local favorite, and rightfully so, as the brick walls and sleek silver light fixtures feel more like a hip DC row house than a bustling dining room. Forget the appetizers like the chicken kara-age and the shrimp tempura—they aren't very good—and go all-in on the sushi. The specialty rolls and nigiri steal the spotlight here, but so does the wagyu nigiri which is particularly good." - omnia saed, tristiana hinton

Google
Sushi Hachi has a nice ambiance, but the experience was a bit underwhelming. The sushi was decent—fresh, but not extraordinary. While the food was enjoyable, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. The service, unfortunately, left something to be desired. It felt a bit slow and inattentive, which detracted from the overall experience. If you're nearby and looking for decent sushi, it's worth a visit, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

Google
This was the perfect way to end my day! Go for the sushi special (running until August) fantastic service and an exceptional dining experience. Looking forward to my next visit !

Google
I’ve ordered take out from here before and the food was decent. However, tried again today and was quite disappointed. The sushi was not at all fresh and the presentation was incredibly poor. It reminded me of the sushi that you’ll get from a Chinese buffet vs a sushi restaurant.

Google
Our go to neighborhood sushi spot. It’s immaculate inside, great variety on the menu and fresh. We love coming for the lunch specials or for dinner.

Google
Tried the mentaiko fries, takoyaki, toro unagi bowl, and mentaiko cream pasta. All were great. The fries were crispy and flavorful. The tuna belly was soft and fatty. The pasta was flavorful. The takoyaki had 3 pieces of octopus. Everything was great. Highly recommend The only nitpick I have is that it is a little expensive for the value, however that may be cause of the tariff, time will tell

Google
Went here for date night with my wife. It was 7:30 on a Saturday night and it was busy but not packed. We had made a reservation which I recommend. We got the ceviche and edamame to start. The ceviche was great - very sweet. The edamame was what you’d expect. For dinner I got the capitol roll, the volcano roll, and the hachi roll. The capitol roll was 10/10. The others were also very good. My wife got the chirashi bowl which she loved. The food came out pretty quick. The service was very good and prompt. Will definitely be back.

Google
Wonderful staff , atmosphere, and food! Have eaten there several times now.

Google
Sushi rice texture is too hard. Chirashi bowl fish temperature serve too cold. Hamachi and scallion roll should be simple but added bunch of colorful pickles which I have no idea why…🥹 Udon portion is very small for one person. Octopus and tuna salad dazzled bunch of dressing which is way too much dressing. Fish quality here is just ok not special or super fresh. Service is good. This is the only outstanding part of this place.

Yelp
Found this hidden gem while exploring Eastern Market. The restaurant is in Barracks Row near I-695. The place gives date night vibes but it's also great for friends or solo dining. My friend and I were seated within a few minutes on a kinda busy Saturday night. Upon seating we were given waters, menus, and the little towel to clean our hands. You drop the towel in the little bowl and it expands (I thought it was cool). The drinks were good but the highlights were the different offerings for sushi/food: small plates, HH, and specialty rolls. We just ordered a bunch and shared. I enjoyed myself and plan to return. Will not be disappointed by the food or the service.

Yelp
This is a very cute place for a date night. When the weathers nice, they open the large front window. This is nice for a breeze and for the vibes, but Capitol Hill has a healthy mosquito population and I was getting torn up while eating my dinner. The staff is very nice and friendly. They can help you decide on a dish or a drink and they're happy to take their time answering your questions. That being said, sometimes the service can be a little bit slow. The food was very tasty. I honestly did not like the rolls with the pico de gallo on top - I scraped the tomatoes off. I like the creativity, but tomatoes and raw fish are just not the vibe for me. One thing I love about this place is that the rolls are slightly smaller, and thus cheaper, meaning if you order a roll you don't like but don't like to waste food (like me), it's a light lift. The beers are cold and the wine is solid. I will absolutely be back for the rolls I enjoyed and for a cold Sapporo.

Yelp
Went for a Saturday afternoon lunch after checking out a museum downtown. Place was empty, definitely didn't need that reservation. They use genmaicha green tea for their iced green tea, a big refreshing plus. Complex, nutty, green tea - definitely recommend. Miso soup was good, edamame was fine (a little underdone), and the wait for our sushi wasn't too long. Spicy tuna and avocado roll was excellent, rich, flavorful, with a little kick. Yellowtail roll they had under the regular rolls was very good too. The special rolls were okay, tasted good but a bit overdone and Americanized (think lots of sauce and tempura) for me. Still tasted good, just would stick to their regular rolls next time. Amaebi with crispy heads was very nice, shrimp itself was buttery and sweet. The heads felt a bit heavy on the frying, but still good and very crunchy. No complaints on the sushi rice, price was reasonable, and no complaints with the fish quality!

Yelp
The customer service here was great! My husband and I came here with our baby and the servers were so nice even though our baby was making a huge mess. The food here was so good! Everything that we ordered was delicious! I loved all the drinks and the appetizers. I would go back again.

Yelp
Good service, great environment, chirashi chef choices were lacking in this visit - smaller pieces of fish

Yelp
Service was top-notch from beginning to end. We had shrimp tempura, fried rice, chicken kaarage (fried chicken), salmon sashimi, dragon roll, and beef on a hot stone. All tasted pretty good except the side salad with the fried chicken was pretty bland. Other than that, we will probably return during happy hour and try their premium sakes.

Yelp
Prices are very reasonable, the neighbourhood is great, and the venue looks nice. However, I'm just not a fan. I think this is the first restaurant that I have ever been to where you have to order and pay (with tip) online at the table. The server did not clearly explain that so we waited much longer than we had to. What would happen if people were unable to use the online system for whatever reason? Because the servers did not take our order directly there was constant confusion on which plates went where, even though the online orders had names for individual people at the table. The fish did not taste as fresh as could be but that may be because we went on a Monday night when the stock might not have turned over. Another weird thing was that I had a sea bass sashimi order that was supposed to be 3 pieces (vs the 2 piece nigiri) and instead had two pieces that were cut the same size as the fish on the nigiris. Don't know if the kitchen had a braino or just took the slices off some nigiri. I'm never going to another restaurant where I have to order online at the table. The online system glitched a couple of times in ordering because there were sell-outs of items (their house sake!) in real time. The system was not intuitive in redoing your order after being notified of the inventory sellout. I couldn't figure out how to do it without hitting the back button of my browser so I was worried about being charged twice.

Yelp
I have only ordered carry out from here before and I think it was okay. I liked all of the rolls that I got. A friend and I ordered 4 and shared and shared a dessert. Inside it cute and decorated upscale. The rolls cost a couple of dollars above their competitors, which would be Torai down the street. I think the sushi is average and can't really say anything bad about it but my preference is Torai. The hostess was also the server and I will say it was a long time between her seating us and getting our order taken. We wondered if maybe we had to go to a kiosk but then she came back and was pretty attentive after that.

Yelp
Sheeesssshhhh this place is delish. I've done it once dine in and once to go and both times was great. Pretty cheap for the fresh quality of food you get, and so tasty. Highly recommend the shrimp tempura, crunch shrimp roll, and fried rice is pretty good too! It's a super cute space as well, albeit small but I haven't seen them go on a wait yet. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
For our wedding anniversary we planned to do a small sushi restaurant hop. We made our way back to Sushi Hachi where the sushi is fresh. The ambiance is always so warm and inviting. Jazz was softly played in the background. Our waitress was welcoming and took our order right away. She was attentive and friendly. We ordered the shrimp tempura, edamame, a cream cheese and cucumber roll, a spicy tuna roll, and the Alaska roll. Everything was delicious but the stand out dish was the shrimp tempura! It was light, crispy, and hot. Definitely our favorite. Sushi Hachi is a wonderful place to grab dinner by yourself or with that someone special.

Yelp
We ordered a salmon and avocado sushi roll, tempura udon noodles, the Hachi roll, and the premium beef served on a hotstone. All of the dishes were excellent, with subtle flavors of salt and fragrance behind the fresh ingredients. My favorite was the salmon and avocado sushi roll! The service was extremely fast and polite- I appreciated that they were on top of our waters! Lastly, the lighting and music was perfect. I'd come here again for the delicious food and great service.

Yelp
Food was really tasty. Service was great. We got a few cocktails. The Dreams Come True was really good. We ordered the shrimp tempura and they were huge! Spicy tuna avocado roll and shitake mushroom roll were both good - always a fan of spicy tuna and this didn't disappoint. Their seaweed salad was also very tasty. The ambiance is nice. I would definitely check this place out again if I'm nearby!

Yelp
Came here Saturday mid afternoon for lunch so the restaurant was not too crowded. We were able to get seated without a reservation. I got the Cherry Blossom special which included 8 pieces of nigiri, 4 piece specialty roll, shrimp and veggie tempura, miso soup, and dessert. The service at Sushi Hachi was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive. He was able to talk to the chef and accommodate my request that sea bass be included as one of my pieced of nigiri. I had never tried seabass nigiri before, and I'm really glad that I was able to here. I also got to choose my specialty roll, the Alaska, which was good. Unfortunately, I found all the fish at Sushi Hachi to be not that fresh, and the fish was served too warm for my liking. Redeemingly, I got the matcha ice cream for dessert and it was delicious. Definitely part of the clean plate club. The portion sizes were fair and the waiter was even nice enough to get us soy sauce and ginger for our to-go bags. Overall the dining service was fantastic, and the experience was good. Unfortunately, the fish itself was a little disappointing in quality

Yelp
Terrific sushi spot. I was on the fence about going here and am so happy I did. Presentation and plating is an art here. Everything was super tasty. Salmon roe and the hachi roll were my favorites.

Yelp
This place came highly recommended through various information apps and did not disappoint. The aesthetics of this place were amazing. It was small, but it felt really inclusive and hipster. The spicy salmon roll and the Philadelphia I had were both great. The waters kept coming. The service was on point. If you're near the wharf and don't mind walking for good sushi, I would definitely give this place a try.

Yelp
Sushi Hatchi has been in my list for a long time and I was excited to finally give it a try! It was easy to get a reservation online, and when we got there we were seated immediately even though the restaurant was packed! It's a cute ambiance, with plenty of tables in a long row home style space. I thought the prices were definitely reasonable and their menu has a lot of different options I hadn't tried before. You had the option of wait service, or just ordering and paying online using a QR code. We decided to try an assortment of items from different parts of the menu. My first experience with chicken Cara-age was delish, especially with the tartar sauce. The tempura udon noodle was maybe one of my favorite dishes - lots of noodles, rich flavorful broth, and yummy shrimp tempura on the side. The Capitol roll was delicious - as with anything deep fried. Usually, I'm not a fan of cream cheese in a roll, but paired with the sugary sauce and melted inside, this one was a hit. The volcano roll came highly recommended, and the Alaska roll intrigued us with the onion sauce addition. Along with a classic tuna nigiri, we also tried the prime beef nigiri. Overall, a very interesting dining experience. There were a lot of flavors I've never had combined before, and wouldn't think to combine. For example, that "onion sauce" on top of the Alaska roll is really similar to pico de gallo ... an interesting flavor combined with a raw fish and sushi roll. Sriracha in the volcano roll and sugar grains in the "sweet miso" sauce on the Capitol roll were pleasant surprises, but unusual nonetheless. Overall, I would love to come back and try more, but be prepared this is not your typical Japanese spot!

Yelp
Delicious sushi and a great experience. Your water cup is never empty, service is quick and easy. The tables are nicely spaced out and the music was at a perfect volume. The food was great and we went back for seconds on the yellowtail cilantro roll because it was so good. Some of the orders only come with 4 pieces so just make sure you choose accordingly. No pictures because we gobbled everything up so fast.
google avatar

Sonya L.

Yelp
We ordered take out. It was simple, ordered and waited near the front of the restaurant. It's a cozy spot, will probably try to dine in next time. The food did not take long to complete so we were on our way. The sushi rolls were good, they were a bit on the pricier side. The fish was tasty and we especially enjoyed the tempura flakes on the rolls. Hachi roll was ok and the Alaska roll was not favorite.
google avatar

Yelp
In town for the Cherry Blossoms , a quick 10 minute drive for some sushi nearby. This is the place to go for some nigiri, prices are very reasonable. If you like yellowtail and rolls they have a variety on the menu. My go to place around DCA for quick sushi. Also they fried the sweet shrimp head and we eat it while it's hot... very yummy...

Yelp
Went on a Saturday with reservations and it was quiet before the crowd rolled in around 3. There was only one server and one bar tender so service can be slow, but they were very kind. The food was very good and for DC, the price was fair. Pictured is the royal sashimi bowl, the rice is flavored so it was very good. And the other picture is of the yellowtail cilantro which was our favorite, so sad only gave 4 pieces, but was very good. The appetizers, especially shrimp tempura was very small and unappetizing, so don't waste money on that.

Ryan Q.

Yelp
We went to Sushi Hachi because we had reservations for the Evening Parade at Marine Barracks 8th and I. Food and ambiance was great, but what turned us off was our server who came by only three times and each of those times we had to ask someone else to get her to come by. The table of two next to us sat down after us, ordered, got their food, and finished before us. Maybe they were regulars and knew what they wanted, but the server could have provided better service in our opinion.

Yelp
Second time coming here. First time was for Covid. The sushi is still 10/10. The ambiance is dime and mellow and the seating nice and personal. Service was speedy and attentive. Now to get into the food. The beef with the hot stones is what brought me and my friend back in. It's just so cool to cook on a stone and the meat is thinly sliced and great quality. All the sushi rolls were amazing. Usually I'll go crazy and be disappointed about one, not here. Me and my friend were trying to rank the order of our favorite and it was so hard just because everything was amazing. The dragon roll with the eel and avocado was delicious with a hint of sweetness. The capitol roll was deep fried with cream cheese. Usually cream cheese can be a bit over powering when deep fried but it was perfectly portioned and balanced. The 8th st roll was by far the prettiest and tastiest roll I've ever had. That was one of my favorites. We also got the chicken katsu but we forgot to take a picture. The chicken was thinly sliced with a nice breading. The oil it was fried in was fresh and it wasn't greasy. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
My gf brought me here after visiting enchant DC on a Thursday evening. The wait was 20 minutes and in the meantime you can order full service at the bar! The ambience is intimate and cozy. Exposed brick and industrial lighting. You can tell this is a local gem. The cocktails looked terrific.... The sushi was beyond fresh- the salmon was delicious and the portions of fish in the roll was impressive. The rolls have a sense of refined delicacy. Very well executed, pristine service, they are very proud of their craft. It was cool many rolls came in 4 pieces- this allowed me to order a ton of different rolls and get the full taste. I tried the Wagyu thinly sliced steak for the first time- you cook it on a hot rock!! It was incredible. This spot is worth the 5 star review!!!

Jenny T.

Yelp
Oof. Hadn't been here since it opened in 5 years and wow night and day. When we came for soft opening, the service was amazing, salmon was individually seared and although it was pricy it was decent quality. Our experience today at a random afternoon hour on a Saturday told me that they are at best a sushi takeout spot for a rainy day. (I should've known that true Japanese restaurants usually close between lunch and dinner to prepare.) The bathroom was a mess, unflushed toilets and trash on the floor. The only resemblance to what I experienced 5 years ago was the physical space in the dining area. We walked in and were greeted and seated quickly but the servers don't speak much English was what I gathered- we asked if there were specials and the first server didn't understand what we were asking. We were told to order by scanning the barcode and we even had to pay and check out with tip before they served us. No interaction with the servers, no explanation of what is being put down in front of us. The wet napkins had been sitting on the table with stale water for who knows how long. I've never seen such a sad amount of wasabi - usually there's way too much. Shishito: this was the best dish due to the yuzu and good flavoring but the peppers weren't seared to crispy. The sweet shrimp nigiri was cooked. When we pointed it out they had no idea that it isn't generally cooked - when I pointed this out, the server said "yes its not sashimi, it's nigiri". Then when I ate my chirashi shrimp it was cooked to a point where it was falling apart - they cook it so you can't tell how old it is. They included the deep fried shrimp head which was OK but it was super battered. The kaarage (fried chicken) had a grainy flavorless breading and it was pretty dry white meat chicken. My chirashi bowl looked nice but most of the fish was mediocre at best - the tuna was dry, warm, falling apart and inedible, eel was drenched in sauce, the white fishes were chewy and not fresh. The rice was standard jasmine (I believe) with no vinegar, no sugar, no flavor. Tamago is store bought. Ikura and tobiko were very small portions. After having reviewed restaurants for so long, I know it's important for me to be realistic and that these are people's livelihoods. But this restaurant is clearly struggling and being unreasonably stingy. I have to in good faith let you know that someone could get sick eating here one day because they are penny pinching. It's not worth it. Maybe stick with the cooked food if you are eating here. I will likely not be coming back.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
A cute no frills restaurant with a relatively small, but good menu. I've been here twice now, I think both time without reservation I was able to get a table for dinner. The chirashi bowl is the move. Great selection of fish and looks pretty too. It's an fantastic quality for the price. Their rolls were unremarkable, stick to sashimi or nigiri. They have a decent selection of hot foods as well. I really enjoyed their tempura (it might have been part of the udon). The beef hot stone is kind of fun, but it's a small portion and the meat gets a little stuck on the surface.

Yelp
This is about a mile from friends apartment and we were SO lucky to be able to get a table for 4 walking in. I would recommend making a reservation because we went on a Friday around 8pm. You order and pay on your phone which is convenient. The wait staff was so nice and did a great job catering to our group. We got soooo much sushi. Got one app of edamame (my friend had one before I was able to take my pic). And we all got drinks, but I cannot remember what they are called!! I got three rolls (listed on the picture) they were all delicious. My friends got three rolls to share and my other friend got wagyu beef, and salmon nigiri which she's obsessed with. I don't recommend coming here if you're looking so basic sushi roll, this place jazzes them up, and some people may not prefer that. The quality of everything was impeccable. I loved this place, the vibes, waitstaff, food, was all amazing. I'll definitely come back here with my friends again!

Yelp
Updating review, really not sure how Hachi gets good reviews at least based on their sushi. Ordered a bunch, and it was all mediocre at best. The fish is the quality you'd expect from a grocery store, but that may be generous even. Karaage had very little texture on the fry, agedashi tofu was some bland pieces of tofu lightly fried - good soft texture but again 0 flavor. The rolls we tried were passable and they do a decent job of masking the flavor of the fish there. The nigiri is where I had to draw the line - bad ratios, shari (sushi rice) with absolutely 0 flavor, thin cuts of questionable proteins. I couldn't eat the tuna it was that bad - served room temperature, sliced poorly and tough to chew, and awful flavor. Best piece was the yellowtail which was due to the yuzu again masking flavors there. Not sure what the use case is for Hachi, it's mid-tier sushi restaurant prices with low-tier quality. The service was nice. But I won't return

Yelp
This is my family and I go to sushi spot! We love the ambiance, the customer service and the quality of the food. I really like how the servers are really attentive to their customers needs. The inside and outside of this restaurant is always clean! Now the sushi is amazing! My family and I used to order food on Uber eats all the way to Suitland and the food would still be fresh! We love the Japanese crunchy fried chicken, crunchy shrimp and so many other options. We give this place an 8.9/10

Yelp
A wonderful staple on Barracks Row. My friend and I came here on a Friday night and were surprised to get seating at the bar which was super comfortable. Service was very pleasant and we loved every dish we got. She got the sushi platter and I got the prime rib and Alaskan roll and Agedashi Tofu. The prime rib came with a hot stone that acted a bit like Korean BBQ and it was so aesthetically pleasing! The meat was tasty but not entirely something I would write home about. Great seasoning though, make sure to oil the meat before grilling otherwise it sticks! I'm a big fan of tofu and the texture was perfect! Great authentic dish. Will be coming back!
google avatar

Patty H.

Yelp
I love this tiny, modern, sleek sushi joint. If you go on a summer Friday evening, you might get to see the Marines lining up on historic row and doing drills before their Friday ceremony at the armory. Good wines by the glass and fresh pristine sashimi is the draw here. Service is lovely, from the cloths to wash your hands to attentive and polite ordering. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Good sushi and fast service! Came on a date night and ordered a ton of food. Price is super reasonable. We ordered online and the food was brought to the table very quickly. The waiter also let us know when they were out of something and offered alternatives. My favorite was the tuna and avocado roll. Also really enjoyed the dynamite roll. The sashimi was great as well! Although this does not oust my top sushi place in DC, I would definitely go back if I'm in the area!
google avatar

Porsha H.

Yelp
Came across sushi hatchi while in DC and could not be more happy with it. The restaurant is intimate in setting with great service. There were so many options on the menu I had a hard time deciding what to get. You can't go wrong with any of the options and the rolls were pretty reasonable priced.
google avatar

Asha S.

Yelp
First of all I was born in Japan and I am a complete sushi snob. For the price in DC and for the quality matched this place is a gem! I came for a solo lunch on Monday and was honestly shocked at the great price point and 5 start experience. My expectations were low for some reason but I was pleasantly surprised. I got the chefs choose chirashi box but asked if they could light sear the sashimi , had a few cocktails , had their hot stone beef for 15$, and tried their shaved ice. Run don't walk to sushi Hachi

Sunny L.

Yelp
Sushi not fresh it was so mid ngl. Good vibes tho and service was ok. If you come for good sushi def don't recommend but if you're coming for mid sushi good vibes it's p chill
google avatar

Peter Z.

Yelp
Solid choice for a quick lunch if your in the Eastern market area of D.C. tempura vegetables were an excellent choice to get started with some innovative cocktails, sushi and nigiri were inconsistent and fell a little flat on some of our choices.the prime beef nigiri was the best bite of our choices, tasting like it had a kiss of the of the hamachi grill. Good price point and friendly service.
google avatar

Tre S.

Yelp
Well, let me just say, I am one and done. The sushi was not all that. The tempura shrimp was limp and not crispy. The rice on the sushi was kinda old. The overall exprience of the food was way below what we expect. We had to go a near by sushi spot to get the quality of what we were expecting from Sushi Hachi. Not sure how they are a 4.4 rating but they should be a 2.2 rating when it comes to the quality if their sushi.
google avatar

Nikki N.

Yelp
Had a quick lunch here with some friends and had a good time. There was plenty of seating and you order through a QR code at the table. We had a variety of things. The chirashi (small) was good sized and definitely enough for a lunch portion. I ordered the scallop nigiri and was happy with the seasoning on the scallop and the size. Definitely good value. I also had a spicy salmon avocado roll. Basic and good, no complaints. The only dish I had an issue with was the miso snapper ceviche. There was barely any snapper and no miso flavor. It was mostly chopped tomatoes. Definitely skip this menu item. Some of my friends order a myriad of other rolls, I didn't get their names, and they were very happy with the quality. One note, don't get the additional crunch on the chirashi bowl. They overwhelm it

Always fresh.....which is the key to any great sushi. Very quaint and intimate space. Always busy, which is primarily pick up. Great selection and variety

Just found my new sushi spot. I found Sushi Hachi on Yelp while craving a spicy tuna roll and they did not disappoint! We came around 3:45pm on a Tuesday and had the restaurant to ourselves. The ambiance is on point. It is such a cute date spot. I ordered a Lychee Martini and it was perfect. We ordered the Prime beef and I was surprised by the flavor it packed. I definitely will get that again next time. We also had the Hachi and Crunchy Shrimp rolls. 10/10 everything was fresh and flavorful. I can't believe I am just finding this place. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
I came here on Sunday at 3PM after calling to ask if a reservation was needed and was told that it wasn't necessary. We walked through the door and were seated immediately. The staff were very welcoming, professional and helpful. There is an option of ordering online or in person and we went with the latter. We ordered Seaweed Salad, Octopus Ahi Tuna Salad, numerous rolls and had some green tea as well. All the items arrived at the table pretty quickly from one course to the next and it was alll delish!! The one roll I want to focus on and highly recommend is the Yellowtail Cilantro! The ingredients are Hamachi, Tempura Green Beans, Avocado, Jalapeno Cilantro and Ponzu. The Yellowtail had such a creamy consistency like butter and had a nice contrasting texture with the crunchiness of the Tempura Green Beans. The Jalapeños add a nice kick with the refreshing flavor of the Cilantro on the backend of my palate. All the food was good, but this one particular roll was outstanding and could be just one of the many reasons why I think everyone should try this spot out!! -ODL Connect with me: IG & YouTube: @AOEAT

Yelp
We randomly decided to have sushi and picked this place. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. The place has two small outdoor table but I liked the inside atmosphere. All the ordering and payment is done via the phone but the servers are around and answer any questions immediately which is awesome and gives a create a good experience for the customers. The tables are very clean and organized. It comes with all the silverware, soy sauce in a cute container and expandable hand wipes. The attention to details in admirable in setting up the tables. Sometimes little details make all the differences. We ordered Grilled Octopus Ahi Tuna, Karaage, Dragon Roll, Hachi Roll and Eel Nigiri. The grilled octopus was good but I really liked the other items we tried. The Chicken Karaage was probably the best one I had so far. The chicken was super tender in the inside and crispy outside. The sauce was ok but the chicken was the special piece. All the sushi items we tried were good. The nigiri different but all of them delivered a lot of flavors. The prices of Roll is also good which gives you the chance to try more items. I would recommend this place and try to bring friends next time to check it out.

Yelp
Came on a weekend and was pretty empty inside. The inside was cute and simple as far as decorations. Thought that the hand towel tablet was the cutest thing & had never seen it at a restaurant before Had the shrimp tempura, tempura udon soup, and salad. Everything tasted great. Don't remember the name of the drink I had but it tasted pretty good and was not too strong. Waitress was friendly. Only thing I did not like is that I had to order and pay at the same time. You basically order on their website in the same manner as if you were ordering to go/delivery. I wanted to stay a while and have multiple drinks but did not want to swipe my card multiple times.

Yelp
Sushi Hachi was a great quality sushi at an affordable price. If I lived near here, I can see myself being a regular. The interior is clean and modern looking. The service was attentive and nice! I think that they can improve on the presentation of the dishes to highlight their delicious food :) Chef's Tasting Platter ($37): I liked the variety of tempura veggies that were offered as part of the Chef's tasting platter. It wasn't too oily or had a super thick batter. However, I wish the batter was a little more crispy. The assortment of sashimi were fresh and it was great to share. Grilled Octopus With Ahi Tuna ($10): This dish had a good amount of octopus and tuna. I liked everything except that there was too much sauce. Don't get me wrong, the lime and ginger sauce was delicious but it hid the tuna and octopus flavors that are supposed to be the highlight Spicy Salmon Avocado ($8): You get 6 pcs of the roll and the salmon is really fresh! It had the perfect amount of sriracha mayo

Yelp
This has been my reliable go-to sushi place when I want something reasonably priced but high quality. The interior is beautiful and makes me feel like I'm in a Japanese home that's welcoming and comforting. The Capitol roll is always my favorite and always fresh and warm. Ordering is made easy through Toast on your phone and the servers are always friendly. Everyone I've brought here has loved their experience and have asked to come back. Don't expect large portions per roll, but nothing can best the price for what you get. I typically get two rolls for $16 and leave full. Absolutely love this spot!

Yelp
Food is very good for a great price, the service was quick and our server was friendly, the restaurant itself is nicely decorated, the music is good but not too loud, and the tables aren't too close to each other! My table ordered the crunchy shrimp roll, salmon nigiri, and the eel avocado roll with a side of steamed rice and it was all delightful!

Yelp
4.5 stars. This may be my new go-to sushi place in DC (not NOVA though lol). Our server was a friendly cute older lady. She was attentive and kind. I really enjoyed the cuts/nigiri here. They were not overly priced, and the cuts were decently sized. I always get salmon, scallop, eel, and sea urchin with quail egg. They didn't have quail egg, but the uni came with cucumber. The Grilled Octopus With Ahi Tuna salad and the Prime Beef "Ishiyaki" Grilling Hot Stone were both good, but wouldn't get them again because of the prices. Grilling on the hot stone was a fun experience though!
