"And while a tasting at Sushi Inoue in Harlem is far from a trip to AbcV for green juice and mushrooms, it has more in common with Sweetgreen than Peter Luger." - Ryan Sutton

"Sushi Inoue, Harlem's only Michelin-starred restaurant, has increased its omakase prices to $245 and $295. The restaurant also offers more affordable a la carte selections and a $100 bluefin tasting." - Ryan Sutton

"A Michelin-starred restaurant known for its high end omakase, offering three levels of omakase priced at $175, $225, and $275. The chef, Shinichi Inoue, uses multiple forms of seasoned rice to accompany different fish, a practice common in Japan. The restaurant earned its first Michelin star in 2016." - Serena Dai

100% worthy of it Michelin star. The staff are incredible as is the chef. Amazing sushi. It is so fresh — worth the price. Next time we will do the chefs menus. The sushi is fantastic, delightful, and tastes fresh out of the sea. The sake is dry and pleasant. This is for sure, a spot to come to on multiple occasions, celebrate every life milestone.

We had an amazing meal here tonight. The chef and waiter were both lovely people, explaining interesting details about the delicious food, one dish after the next, each one as good it better than the last one. We ordered the Omakase snd i wouldn’t hesitate to order it again!!!

We had the $200 omakase. You have the option to order regular a la carte. After seeing the reviews I had high expectations. TL DR: overpriced sushi. Not good value for price they charge. Sushi pieces just ordinary and not that special. We paid over $500 for two after tax and 20% add on service charge. In Japan that include service price in food. For the price they charge you think they would. The service wasn't that great. Throughput the night the wait staff wasn't attentive. I've been to Michelin star places where staff was very attentive. I had to ask for more tea each time. The place wasn't even half full, so no excuse. I was appalled that the sushi chef just had just bunch of fish cuts combined into a plate and took it out when he needed a particular fish. Even at a regular sushi place they don't combine different fish cuts into same plate. It didn't look appetizing or good practice. The sushi was fine but it wasn't amazing or had any special cuts you wouldn't find anywhere from a regular sushi place. Some of the other dishes from omakase felt looks cheap dishes. For example the first appetizer with some squid in some mayonnaise and a tiny piece of pumpkin or the salmon in the teriyaki sauce. In terms of experience, the chef didn't make the experience personal. You can join the omakase at any time. Other places I've been and in Japan they start the omakase for the group all at the same time, so I really don't get why all of the other reviews are raving about their wondering experience. Have they never been to a real omakase style sushi place in Japan?! Food was fine nothing that special nor was the experience and definitely not worth the price they charging, Nobu 57 doesn't even charge this much and is was better for less. I don't understand the other reviews. Don't believe the hype.

This was the best sushi experience in my entire life, though I am originally from Japan and have had good sushi thousand times home. The most authentic, fresh, quality sushi NYC can offer, and definitely other non-sushi meals were amazing. The master chef Inoue-san is also entertaining and friendly, while showing his master skills and spirit in his sushi making process.. What a night I had. I will definitely go back there. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to have traditional authentic sushi in NYC.

Staff and chef are very helpful and friendly. The food is good too. However, for the price you pay for an omakase, I’d expect the food to be exceptional.

This place is really good and reservations should be made in advance. The staff is really friendly and service provided is exceptional! The chef was cool to watch while preparing sushi. This place was my first Michelin star restaurant and I would come back in the future again.

Complete gem of a restaurant. Pictures of the food speak for itself. Absolutely worthy of its Michelin Star.
