Sushi island is fitting name, great sushi when it comes to special rolls. Recommended for sushi lovers. Good service as well.

The rice smell so old. The salad was not fresh at all we did not eat them like cucumbers are gone long ago. My octopus was just no taste not fresh like sitting in the frozen fridge for year please check. Good new My salmon are delicious, chicken teriyaki was good, California roll are perfectly fine.

I have been coming to this restaurant for about 8 years now, and they have ALWAYS been on point. From the sushi, to the hot entrees, drinks, desserts, you name it. They have something for every taste bud. I don’t even live in Queens, but still take the trip over there :)

This used to be my regular sushi place. After I finished all the menu I stopped going. Went this weekend for lunch and I find the menu has so many new items. So I will be going back again. I like their signature rolls and fried rice

The service was slow. You only get tea after you order and order takes a long time to come out. The udon was undercooked. Food was average not great, wouldn’t recommend the roast pork shoyo ramen. It was dry.

This shop deceived consumers. They used pork to pretend to be beef. When I tasted it and found that it was pork, I told the waitress. The waitress went to the kitchen to ask the chef. They explained that because the meat is steamed, the color of the meat It will be whiter, but the meat is obviously fried. The fat part of the meat has a pig particularly obvious taste. There is no beef smell. I feel uncomfortable after taking a bite. Their fried prawns use re-cooked oil, which is full of strong oily flavor, which is very unhealthy. If it weren't for Tomo can’t dining, I had never thought about going into this store. My child started vomiting more than 2 hours after eating their food, and even took a day off and couldn't go to school. This is a very bad store.

Food: 5 stars Service: 2.5 stars I popped in for dinner after doing some shopping by at the mall across the street. They share the same front building door with the spa on the second floor. The servers were not friendly-- which I get we sometimes don't have a good day, but a small (even fake) smile when customers walk in is expected. They didn't have small bottle of soy sauce on my table when I was seated, nor did they give me one, so I had to take it from the empty table next to me. I ordered a salmon and avocado roll, and a (I forget the name of the other one, but it was of the specialty sushi menu and it has spicy tuna), and both came out to around $22. The sushi is fresh and of good quality. Definitely worth coming here for the food. The prices are pretty on par with other places I've been to. Worth hitting up if you're in the area.

Overall a solid place for sushi. We ordered 6 rolls to go. 2x Eel Avocado 1x Salmon Roll 1x Spicy Crab 1x Bali Roll 1x Salmon Tempura Roll This was more than enough food for two people. The eel avocado had a good ratio of eel to avocado. Some places have too much avocado which I do not like. The salmon tempura roll had cooked salmon, I wasn't really a fan. The cooked salmon was a bit dry. I probably would not order that again in the future. I would recommend to ask for spicy mayo when you order to go. I forgot and I believe that would've made the meal a bit better.

Sushi Island, with its location near Queens Central Mall, is always in view. I went back there recently years later and it's as if nothing changed. The Volcano Roll is basically a sushi mountain - loaded with toppings. If you're into generous portions, try this. Ordered a couple of my go-to rolls as well, and they hit the mark. The menu has a good variety without being overwhelming, which is a plus for me. With normal what-you-would-expect food, what sets Sushi Island apart is the pricing. Great value for the quantity you get. You're not breaking the bank for a satisfying sushi meal. The vibe is casual, service is solid, and it's a good place to grab some reliable sushi without any fuss. The only reason I took off a star is because the service could be a little better, especially when the spot is busy. Nonetheless, if you find yourself in this part of Queens and are in the mood for casual well-priced sushi with ample portions, this will cover your needs.

I came here as it was on the way to the mall. I wasn't craving sushi, so I looked at their menu before to see what else they served. They have lunch specials but not for a weekend. I went on a sunday so it didn't apply. They were quite busy, so I had to wait a bit. It's a no frills place to eat at. They have seating indoors by the sushi bar, and there are booths, too. Food wise, I got the Lychee Thai ice tea to drink. It is the same taste as a regular Thai ice tea except lychee inside of it and no condensed milk. My friend got the bento box with salmon as the main entree. I ordered the Nabayaki udon, which has chicken in it. The soup was a bit bland. I had to ask for hot sauce. I probably won't be back as I wasn't too happy with the service and the food.

Friday night so it kinda busy, but people were in and out so I was able to sit in a booth with my date. They were playing Kanye West classics so that was nice as we waited for our food. It came out promptly, I don't believe wait time is ever a problem here. First time getting the fire fire fire and I would order again I was so full from all the pieces of sushi stuffed with crab and seaweed salad. I enjoyed my new pick! My boyfriend got his usual tempura California roll but I can't write a review on that because I am allergic to avocado! Thank you guys for an awesome fulFILLing FriYay night, keep up the great work!

We came in on a Thursday for lunch. The restaurant was quite empty and I can smell a horrible spoiled fish smell in the background which made me think twice of staying. We decided to stay and give them the benefit of the doubt. We had to change tables three times since the booth tables were wobbly and they're not doing anything about it. We made our orders and as soon as I mentioned avocado shake, the server had this concerned look on her face, but did not inform me what her predicament was. The avocado shake does not taste like avocado at all. It's watered down, full of large broken icecube pieces, and tastes absolutely bland and bitter. Moving to the food--the takoyaki was extremely mushy inside, with not enough sauce to accompany it. The sushi rolls looks pale and unappetizing, but thankfully it did not make us feel sick. My wife ordered the teriyaki bento because she cannot have sushi due to pregnancy. Which I profusely informed the server, but we were served with medium rare teriyaki, that has a spoiled beef smell. Absolutely unacceptable.

Came on Christmas Day, very quiet and few people. The service was slow, only given tea after you ordered. The food was average not anything special. Roast pork in the Shoyo ramen was a bit dry. The Udon noodles were undercooked.

Great place for relatively cheap but good quality sushi. They are on Uber eats, but dine in will taste much better than delivery. I very rarely write reviews but this place has changed so much (for the better) over the 15+ years I have lived in this neighborhood. Recently paid a midday visit and everything was super delicious and fresh. Staff was very friendly. Service was quick and the ambiance is very nice. Clean and organized. I would honestly bring a date here. And the presentation for the food was impeccable. Also very fair prices. I am very pleased.

I order from this place often but I'm going to do so much less now. Not really worth it when you really look at the product. If I order a specialty roll/sushi etc I expect there to be fish. Food might taste good but it's not worth the price if it's almost all filler, there's even rice packed inside the seaweed of the rolls now. Huge quality drop from when I started ordering years ago. Can't be more than 2oz of salmon the whole roll. Same maybe worse months later, even worst now 7/25

Staff are inattentive and harass you for the 18% suggested tip, it is NOT suggested but mandatory.

This is hands down one of my favorite sushi restaurants ever. Their rolls are always super fresh and the prices are great! This spot is always bustling and is a local favorite. There is great variety in terms of the rolls available and the menu itself is expansive, and includes dishes other than sushi. If you're in the area, I highly recommend popping in for a bite.

I would say the sushi is pretty good and affordable. This however seems more like a to go place. When I went to dine in there were ALOT of to go orders wrapped and ready to go. The service was still pretty good but all our food came out pretty slow and I think it's cause the chefs were busy making the to go orders. The ambiance is nice but just with all the shuffling of to go orders I wouldn't realllly come here again for dine in.

Awesome! Have not been in for years but it was just as remembered. I had their Pad Thai and my love their drunken noodles. YES!

So far every order I placed on Uber Eats with them has been great! Food is reasonable priced and yummy as well. Was able have time to write a review for them finally. Presentation was better this time because of the size of the order for the Sashimi pieces. They you for being our Go To Japanese take out restaurant on Christmas Day! Merry Xmas!!!

The sushi looks delicious and fresh and the prices are unbeatable, but the rice was kinda hard and the soy sauce they give you wasn't sushi soy sauce. In fact, it was like cheap dark Chinese soy sauce. It had a bit of a bitter aftertaste and wasn't umami salty at all. It made my sushi experience kinda meh. I'm hoping the hard, stale rice was a one time thing. The dressing on the salad that came with it was kinda diluted too. I'm not sure if I'll order from them again. Maybe if I have a craving for sushi and I have temporary amnesia, I will order from them again.

This is my family's usual choice of take out! We love to go for the chicken Pad Thai, and of course, their sushi! That being said, I would like to bring attention to something we had noticed with our sushi tonight and that I wish packing would be more mindful of. Both my Mom and my sister placed two sushi orders, one being vegetarian and the other being seafood. These were suppose to be separate orders, but they were placed in one carton. One of them has a slight seafood allergy that can sometimes act up depending on what exactly the content is. For people that have more of a severe reaction to it, I don't think it's wise to combine the orders into one carton. I understand trying to preserve space and not waste the plastic (which we do recycle), but as a overall safety precaution, I think you should cut your loses on this! Otherwise, the food is fantastic! You can't beat the price for it! But giving 3 stars for quality control. As someone whom has worked briefly in the food industry, cross contamination is no joke. Please be more aware!

I never leave reviews but this place just gave me the Worst food poisoning of my life. They obviously cut corners here and it's not worth risking food poisoning under any circumstances.

I would rate sushi island three and a half stars. We ordered from sushi island through a delivery app. The order was delivered on time. We ordered a sushi / sashimi platter for four. The variation was rather limited. I had no qualms with the quality.

I have been here once before at least 5-8 years ago and it wasn't terrible. It definitely was not great but it was not terrible. I told my husband I really didn't want to go back. I wanted to go to Sai today, which is further east on Queens blvd, but unfortunately they were closed (only on Mondays). My 13 year old insisted we give this place another chance. I regret listening to him. I had two hand rolls which were mediocre. Yellowtail and eel. I had some sashimi and sushi. Small portions to be expected for the price. The reason for the 1 star is the spicy scallop roll. The roll was cut up into 6 pieces. At least 4 pieces had no scallop at all. I found 4 pieces of scallop in the other two which was smaller than the size of my pinky nail. They mixed so much of the crunch crap in this roll it should have been called spicy crunch crap roll. I dissected the roll and the waitresses looked embarrassed. My husband and son ordered two rolls each. And left half of each of their rolls. So much rice not enough fish. Service was fine. I said it once I'll say it again...I'm not coming back here.

Quality of food has always been really great but since Covid happened, I'm not sure anymore. Used to be my go to spot, but the last two times I've ordered for takeout/delivery, sushi made me feeling uneasy. Stomach viruses the last few times, I've came through. Not sure if just me but sushi is not fresh and does not exceed my expectations now.

Chicken katsu, unagidon, california, shrimp tempura and spicy crab rolls, lychee ice tea, green tea. Food was good, the only bad thing I have to say is that the california roll (crab) was extremely fishy. We ask to please change it for another roll and the waitress did not bother to help us and ignore our request saying that the crab was fresh. She did not acknowledge our concern.

When we first walked in, it was so awkward because there was no customers in there so all the workers were just staring at us... they didn't say hi, or whatever. Nobody even came up to seat us down, so we just picked a seat ourselves but then a worker just said across the room, "no" *points to another table* for us to sit there. And then on top of that when we were seated there was only 3 of us sitting on a table of 4 so the lady came up to the table to take away the chopstick and the napkin since there is no fourth person but the thing is she took the one that was right in front of me. She made it easier for herself grabbing the one that was right in front of me. But as a worker she should've removed the one where nobody was sitting at. It's not that big of a deal but it was little rude encounters the entire time there from the moment we stepped in. We ordered the food, all good. We ordered the dragon roll. And we also got two lunch specials where 3 rolls are around $11. Both plates included the California roll, a shrimp tempura roll and a sweet potato roll. We also got 2 plates of spicy mayo which was .50 cents for each. The food was well done. Everything tasted good. And when we were done eating, we asked for the check. And in the process of all this my sister and my boyfriend both asked them at separate times if they could exchange 10 single dollar bills to a full $10. But they said no, they didn't have anymore $10 bills. However we went around 1PM, when there was no customers. No cashier is supposed to open with no change in their register. He wouldn't even give us 2 $5 bills. Nah they didn't care, straight up just said no. And when the lady came to clean up our table she had a straight face the entire time, didn't smile, didn't interact with us at all. I saw her name on the receipt but let me not violate. All this is whatever but then again, going back to these little rude & weird encounters we had. Food was great. Service had to be better.

Huge serving for $18! I ordered the pork katsu bento box which came with tempura - shrimps and veggies, fried siomai, and california maki rolls! They serve you a bowl of miso soup and some salad on the side as well. I deducted a star since the pork katsu is kinda dry but the rest are good and the service is good as well!

The sushi here is very delicious and affordable. This Is a locally owned sushi spot that you go to for some good sushi & that's that. It does what it's supposed to do!

A friend put me on to this spot I'm a sushi lover so I had to check it out and also the prices were really good. Packing for the food was fairly simple aluminum pan with the plastic top, chop sticks & soy sauce included along with napkins. Definitely just enough for 1 person. I had the shrimp tempura rolls and a green tea the rolls we're really good very taste good balance of crunchy and soft the green was unsweetened so there you go. The service was good we called and put the order in. Definitely would recommend this spot and I'll Probably be going here at-least once a month going forward.

Been ordering sushi from here for takeout, the prices are very reasonable as most places charges a lot for a roll. Most of their rolls are between $3-6 so worth it! And their Al La Carte starts from $1 and it's very fresh! I recommend coming to this place if you're not looking to spend a lot of money for sushi. This place is decent especially in the elmhurst area also!

Quality of food is pretty good and service was okay. The only thing is the environment around is a bit off but the food makes up for it.

This was a seriously good sushi spot! To piggy back on what another yelper commented, the prices are definitely right! Light years cheaper and also TASTIER than other spots! I mean it sounds to good to be true, but I'm no longer a skeptic! This is definitely a place to order from during this crisis as it hits all my personal sushi notes: Tasty, Reasonably Priced and FRESH. So wonderful to have a place that indulges my sushi cravings and shows up right at my door step! Definitely taking a visit once this crisis is over. Overall, I highly recommend this place! I truly don't believe you'll find tastier sushi than this at this price point or as fresh. It's truly the best at it's price point, just not the best I've ever had, but in all fairness I'm still waiting for the "one" that blows my socks off. Until then, I have this absolutely wonderful place to always look forward to! So good!

We discovered this place during quarantine as a cheaper sushi spot & after giving it a try I do agree w previous reviews on one thing their prices they do have very reasonable prices in comparison. First time around we got NY roll & Spider rolls both good NY roll is simple good combo the salmon & shrimp in the spider roll we liked the Fried crab. Specialty rolls had the Paradise & Caribbean rolls , paradise is overly stuffed not bad taste wise just a lot going here the Caribbean roll was the winner of the night great combo w the crab, eel & shrimp plus its fried so probably why it was the best one. Next time around had the Caribbean again we have declared it a favorite since it's so good for our simple option got the California roll not bad & specialty the Bora Bora roll shrimp, avocado & crunchy crab was a good combo. Both Manhattan & Shrimp tempura Rolls also good. Also tried the Chicken Lollipop fried chicken very good on its own better dipped w the sweet chili sauce, good Dumplings & good Rock Shrimp tempura. This place is not bad at all very reasonable prices , good selection , we ordered though seamless & so far had no issues this was great find for decent sushi to go we enjoyed it & chances are will continue to get take out from here.

Ordered take out.. I should have checked the rating before ordering. The scallops sashimi was so small. Usually sashimi la cart comes with two pieces, but this place only gives a tiny portion. There was uncooked rice mixed inside, tasted so bad. The eel cucumber roll I had, I can't hardly see the Eel. It was more like a cucumber roll lol

Terrible quality! I had a few spicy rolls and it was filled with stale oily crunch flakes and so little fish, it tasted awful, imagine a panko flake roll! This is the first time in my life i threw out sushi, i could not force myself to eat this fake sushi.

Hi, I have to say I really like their sushi choice, kitchen entree, especially Kani Salad, it's almost never disappointed. However, last night it was one of those moment. Ordering from uberEats, pretty good timing, around 8 almost 9PM because they close at 9:30. Ordered a Bentobox and some ice cream and what I got is truly disappointing. I have ordered from Sushi Island a lot, so i'm very familiar with their products. What I got from my BentoBox was in a bento lunch box, very small portion of Salmon, the ice cream was pretty much melted, I get it maybe because it's a delivery, but I know this is not only because of temperature but because it's old. If you see older pictures of others' order , it's totally different. So, that was very disappointing. I'm not sure if they just start lacking in being consistent or was it just because it was late? Though it wasn't late because I ordered 30-45 mins before they're closing. So, you decide. Below are the pictures I have attached.

Went there today after a while and found place been renovated ! Look nice ! But we are very disappointed with the food as we always order chicken katsu and tempura shrimp but how come it taste so different as like chicken katsu been fried more than once and feel the fried in bad oil and same with shrimps tempura not crunchy at all like we got before in past 6 years ! Today like mostly feel like they put 10 Times rolling in flour and breadcrumb ! No taste just bland and not same like before and been inform is not the same chef. Wont come back again unless they bring back the the former chef!!!

I decided to give this place a try because i always go to tomo sushi up the block. Upon walking in the waitresses weren't inviting looking. The sushi chef was bent over playing on his phone. And the place was very outdated. On top of that the huge sign posted on their window by the door is a lie! Sushi and sashimi aren't 1 dollar a piece. The fine print is it's starting at!!! But there is no fine print. And what japanese restaurant charges for spicy mayo?? Are you kidding me? I work at a japanese restaurant on the upper west side and we don't even charge for spicy mayo. And that's the upper west side where our rent is over 70k a month. I mean seriously sushi island do right by your neighborhood! As for the food, it was mediocre. Nothing special. The shrimp tempura had way too much batter. And the veggies on the tempura were under cooked. Not to mention it also took too long.

Get a better delivery driver. My sushi got the grand tour of queens before it got to me. Smell the fish before you sever it. Forget the taste. Just smell it.... My sushi tasted and smelled close to sardines.

First thing I'm gonna say is don't get overwhelmed when you get in, the placed is packed with boxes, unused tables and chairs. They have indoor dining but I guessed they're not prepared to open after covid. But we're here for the food not for some instagram worthy dining so I'm good. The food is 3.5/5 its good but not really special. Good thing they follow to check vaccine card for indoor dining unlike other restaurant.

Took 45 min to get mediocre sushi. That was too much. The Udon soup is bland. Plenty of better sushi in town. I'm disappointed as they were used to be better than this. Now it's not even worth the wait.

I've been ordering from this place for a long time always like their sushi and avocado shakes. Found a big piece of plastic right on top of my stir fried yaki udon noodles. I ordered through Uber eats and was told by a person on the phone they would refund me. I've been checking 1-2 days later and still I haven't received my money back. I probably won't be ordering from you guys in awhile very disappointed. I work in restaurants myself so I'm partially understanding but the plastic was right on top of the food like how could you not see that before sending it out... let alone cooking my food In the plastic. Your cooks need to get checked.

Im never disappointed when I come here. Whenever I'm on this side of town I have to get a roll. Even if I'm not hungry. BUT I wouldn't recommend ordering when it's close to closing time. I once got old hard rice on my roll so you can imagine how upset I was when I got home to eat.

This is my favorite place! I love the California rolls and the Shrimp tempura rolls! I love the mango juice too. I love everything they have, I always tell people to go here!

This place has fresh and yummy sushi! Very decently priced and good customer service during to go order during times of covid. Love that they have so many vegetarian friendly options. The Thai peanut avocado and tofu skin avocado and mushroom options were my favorites! Each were so unique and flavorful.

I absolutely love this place! The service is always great, professional and efficient. They offer lunch specials that can range between $8-12 which is a pretty sick deal for great food. Sushi always taste fresh and the waiter is willing and ready to answer any questions you may have in regards to what's added to your roll (for those who have allergies) The place is very clean which is always a major plus.

The food was not good. The spicy rolls were full of fried tempura pieces and barely any fish.

My bf and I decided to try their Island Sashimi Deluxe (?), 30 pieces of Chef's Choice of Sashimi for $40. Aside from the mackerel, crabmeat and the shrimp, everything was delicious! I wish they could've swapped out those for more salmon or tuna or white tuna pieces. Service can be a bit more attentive but cant beat the food quality and quantity for the price. Most other places give you only 6 pieces for their sushi rolls, but Sushi Island gives you 8! Their lunch specials are well-priced too. Anytime we are in the area, we come here for their food, as should you!

I was craving sushi for lunch, so I ordered delivery from here. Everything was so yummy and fresh. I especially liked their Kani salad, which they serve on top of three fried wonton skins. The only issue was that the wonton was a bit soggy by the time I received my order. Best to ask them to wrap this separately.

I ordered ahead as the restaurant has no indoor seating. But they still let me use the bathroom I ordered a premium roll and it was perfect! All good, no complaints

didn't expect much when I walk in, so wasn't disappointed either. overall definitely there are better sushi places, but this one is definitely not the worst. it's literally in between. decent, but nothing stands out. ordered the salmon roll and lion king roll (salmon and mango). they are pretty generous with the fish, but the rolls felt a tad bit sloppy and again I can't really comment too much on it other than "okay". it wasn't too great, wasn't horrible either, but the thing is it was just not memorable, hence overall it was rather a flat experience. however, their appetizer was not bad. tried the avocado salad and it was nicely dressed with generous slices of avocado. the chicken lollipop was pretty good too as they did a good job of making it crispy. the shrimp tempura was not bad either. on another note, the waitress who served us was very nice though
