A Central West End favorite with a personal touch at the bar, Sushi Koi features chef‑driven specials like the hamachi garlic ponzu roll alongside generous chirashi and hand rolls. Regulars praise the value and freshness; the compact hours keep it lively.

PROs: Friendly and attentive staff. Quick to be seated. No wait time before dinner rush. So many great choices on the menu. The food was amazing! My husband wants to move here just for the Alaskan Roll (the best we've had so far). No added fee to use credit card. CONs: Street parking only. Small establishment with no waiting area (which means people will be standing directly behind you while you're eating). Approx $55 (before tip) we ordered Chicken Teriyaki, Alaskan Roll & Rainbow Roll. This is a place we will return to when we stroll through again.

OMG! Delicious. Fresh taste. Made on the spot. Friendly and accommodating staff. Highly recommend the seaweed salad, crazy roll and signature roll! Prepare to wait a bit. I was seated quickly at the counter. Before I ordered, the waitress advised me there was a wait for the fresh made sushi rolls. Totally worth the 10-15 minute wait. I had a seaweed salad and sipped prosecco in the meantime. Will come back asap!

Great food, very ambient setting, and great service. Highly recommend the seared salmon toro, it is melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The sashimi tastes fresh and the portion sizes are very worth the price. Will definitely be back again!

Best sushi I have had in St. Louis. The restaurant offers very high quality fish and a wide ranging menu with lots of difference delicious choices. This time, I ordered the tempura appetizer, Central West End, Caterpillar, and Sashimi Roll. Service was prompt and the waitress was warm and welcoming. The sushi had a great balance of sauces, filling, and rice, and the rolls are massive. Highly recommend:))

Absolutely loved it! Took my uncle there who has spent months in Japan and Hawaii and he was thoroughly impressed. We sat at the sushi bar and watched the chef prepare all of the dishes. Everything was so fresh. I think my favorite was the spicy salmon skin roll. Also have really great vegetarian options!

Good atmosphere, cute place. About $10 for basic rolls and $15-18 for specialty rolls. (Euclid roll, sunset roll, Hamachi Garlic Ponzu Roll pictured). The soda is flat / tastes off.

My friends and I used to go to Sushi KOI frequently because the restaurant was just a short walk from our university, but I haven’t been back for years. Last night my partner and I went to KOI for dinner without expectation, but we had a pleasant time here. They have a small space with booth seatings. Music was nice and not too loud. Service was top notch. My waiter was very nice and attentive. She kept checking on us and refilled our water. Our order came out relatively quickly. We ordered salmon tataki, chirashi, hamachi Kama, hamachi garlic ponzu roll and sunset roll to share between 2 of us, and my son got his own salmon teriyaki dinner set which included miso soup and salad. We were satisfied with our order - fresh fish, very nice sushi roll presentation, generous portion and tasted yummy. Our favorite from last night was the salmon tataki and hamachi Kama.

Good quality sushi! They always have fresh ingredients. My go-tos here are sumo roll, hand rolls, and chirashi. Great service. Wait time for the food was quite long but definitely worth the wait.

Yelp
Thought there was happy hour because I saw it on Google review but they do not Love the decor on the walls and service was good!.l got the spicy salmon hand roll, sunset and hamachi garlic ponzu roll. Everything was so delicious and love the presentation of the plate as well! Can't wait to come back and try other rolls here!

Yelp
Wow! What a find! Sushi Koi is absolutely delicious! I kinda pigged myself out by ordering two rolls, (Shrimp Tempura & Crunch Roll) edamame and gyoza! Everything was excellent tasting, the atmosphere was really nice and the young server was really attentive and friendly! I never had an empty cup of water! I was in the area on business, but when I return (if I don't go back before I go home) I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Delicious fresh sushi with a huge menu of rolls. The Dynamite Roll was the spiciest sushi I've ever eaten and I mean that as an accomplishment/compliment. I wish we lived in St. Louis so we could eat here every week!

Yelp
Went for a dinner and it was really good! Our server was super nice and accommodating. Place was nice and cozy. Not super big but a good amount of seats available. The sushi and other plates we got were good as well. We got seated right away. Street parking out front.

Yelp
Best sushi spot in CWE and the whole city for that matter. Had a great experience on Saturday night at the bar

Yelp
First time ordering to go at Sushi Koi and was very impressed with the quality of fish, the amount of food and excellently presented platter. The staff was very friendly and the wait was reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. It's good that they open early at 4:00pm to beat the dinner rush. Itedakmasu.

Yelp
Food 4/5 Sushi rolls are pretty good for St Louis. We love the dragon roll the best. We also enjoyed the green tea we ordered. Service 4/5 We enjoyed the service. Our water refilling was frequent. When we have 4 pieces of sushi left, the server has been checking on us more often -- trying to hint they need the table back for other customers. Okay! Ambience 4/5 Central location at Central West End. It's nice and cozy within the restaurant. We love the booth seating.

Yelp
This was the only Asian restaurant we went into on Euclid that was actually crowded when we got there, which probably could have told us that this was going to be our favorite spot. Service was quick and very friendly. We had gyoza, and two different rolls. Although the caterpillar roll was delirious, the Fujiyama roll was my very favorite one, and beautifully presented. I wouldn't suggest it as a business meeting spot or a romantic spot, mainly because the crowded space made it relatively noisy, but for anything else, the food was wonderful. The only caution I would add is that if you place an online order, you get charged $1.50 which is not disclosed before you place your order, and then it turned out that they didn't even start my order until after I arrived. So next time I would definitely skip the online ordering form.

Yelp
Ended up eating here for the first time during the Red Lantern Night Market the other evening. For the price and quality of the sushi, I'd say the classic rolls are a great deal! It was nice sitting outdoors on their patio as the inside would have been crowded and loud. Servers were kind, checked in on us during the rush, and managed the busy evening splendidly.

Yelp
Tonight, we decided on sushi in St Louis. The high reviews steered us to Sushi Koi. So glad they did! This restaurant is small, with some indoor and outdoor seating, or you can sit at the sushi bar. We were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess/server. She offered us seats at the bar until a table opened. We elected to sit at the bar for the meal. The sushi chef was so friendly. She talked to us throughout the meal, wish one of our group a happy birthday when she overheard the conversation. The server was so nice at explaining favorites, the menu, etc. We went with several meals (check out my photos). We all loved our dishes!! First off, they are very generous on sizes and don't overstuff the sushi with rice. 2 rolls can easily fill you up! The only dish I didn't care for was the garlic roll. Check the menu or photo out for the name (I forgot lol!). I can tell how many would like it, just not my thing. For drinks, we tried the apple and peaches Saki! WOW were they smooth and delicious. Overall, the food is amazing here, only outdone but the staff's friendliness and amazing service. If you want sushi near St Louis... you have to check out this place!!!

Yelp
Delicious and beautiful sushi from Sushi Koi! I ended up getting takeout so I can't speak to the ambiance much but the service was fast and very nice for my pickup. I ended up having to go to Whole Foods for a few things right before picking up and I just walked a block from that parking lot to quickly grab the food but parking right by the restaurant didn't look too bad.
google avatar

Montague B.

Yelp
They close the kitchen before advertised hours. I have no problem with wanting to go home...it's your business. But post the correct hours so folks don't drive to your establishment first nothing.

Yelp
Hands down freshest fish in STL. Never disappoints! All of the rolls are delicious but my favorites are the central west end roll and the Euclid roll. I'm obsessed with the tuna tartare and when you order it for take out, the presentation is beautiful. The restaurant itself is small and intimate. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. I either eat here or do take out once a week!
google avatar

Yelp
It's becoming one of my favorite dining places. I try different things every time and my date usually gets the same thing. The service is always great and the staff is friendly and upbeat. We weren't bothered there close to closing time and they kept ensuring us they didn't mind and that we didn't need to rush. That's uncommon and i appreciate that. I like their sakè list as well.

Yelp
BEST SUSHI IN TOWN ( that won't break your bank)!! Sushi Koi has been my go-to for years. Sashimi always fresh and buttery. Every roles are delicious. The shop is a bit small and can be challenging for groups but staff are very accommodating and friendly. My recommendation: Uni, salmon, and toro are bussin, rainbow roll, and fujiyama roll!!

Yelp
This is a cute sushi date night spot! It's a little small but you have a lot of table room. The staff are very attentive and the food is delicious. The fish is fresh and they have cool specials like Uni! The prices are reasonable and I will be coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
Sushi was delicious! I had the central west end roll and loved it! And it was filling which is rare with sushi. The tuna tartare was good as well. The service was quick and the restaurant was clean and there wasn't too much noise.

Yelp
food and service were great. I loved how fresh the salmon nigiri tasted. The spicy tuna too

Yelp
A fantastic spot for Japanese food. The sashimi was fresh and sliced beautifully, and the sushi had just the right balance of rice and filling. The kimbap had a great combination of textures, making the whole meal feel complete. The service was friendly and fast, and the restaurant had a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend it.

Yelp
Although the sushi here and the ambiance looks beautiful, I unfortunately feel like Sushi Koi did not live up to the hype I have heard about it. My group and I were seated pretty quickly when we arrived, however we waited an hour and ten minutes for our food to get to our table. Additionally, we were only checked in on once during this waiting period. There seemed to be two waiters at this location that were helping each table and while they were polite, one of my friends was almost charged for an extra roll they did not order and my other friend was never given some of the side orders she asked for. The sushi itself was good, however for their service, the long wait, and for the quality of their sushi I would definitely eat at the other amazing sushi restaurants in the area! Additionally I would not come here unless you are ok with waiting a bit to get your food.

Brian C.

Yelp
Chef Whitney prepares the finest sushi in Saint Louis. The quality and cuts are superb and generous.

Kyle W.

Yelp
Placed a to go order. It took over an hour to get my food. I arrived around 20 minutes after placing my order and was told it would be 15 minutes, granted they were moderately busy so I get it. 40 minutes after I arrived I finally received my 4 soups and four rolls, all in the same bag. Food was delicious, just be prepared to wait a while for your food if you order to go.

Yelp
Sushi KOI is my favorite dine-in sushi in St. Louis. The space is small and intimate--perfect for a friend date or romantic date--so don't be surprised if you have to cozy up at the counter. You order all your sushi at once on a checklist and they bring it all out on a beautiful, humongous platter. Be forewarned, the portions are huge (especially for the price!)--the sashimi pieces are 2-3x bigger than what you typically get. The roll options are plentiful, diverse, and delicious and the appetizers are also great - we recently tried the tuna tartare and loved it!

Celine S.

Yelp
Sushi Koi helped make a very special, and important night (for my girlfriend and I) That much better !! The service here is Excellent - Servers are so helpful, accommodating, polite, and professional. The establishment itself is super inviting. The interior gives chic, and stylish YET helps provide for a cozy, warm, and welcoming environment. We are currently STILL munching on leftovers and it's been 24 hours. The food is fresh, of high quality, and fine cut - the Presentation here is OUT OF THIS WORLD !! Ps they were kind and accommodating enough to help me surprise my girlfriend with a flower (provided by me) and a card (also provided by me) set and waiting for us at our table by the time we arrived for our reservation. Meaning.. Sushi Koi is evidently Dedicated to providing their customers with an Excellent experience overall, and the Best, most Fresh damn Sushi around. Pps Trans/Queer couple here - Sushi Koi made us feel nothing but safe, welcomed, respected, taken care of, and effing full. lol To Not visit would be a disservice to oneself. Xx

Yelp
My favorite sushi spot in town! They're back with full service, real plates, and glasses. Grab your loved ones and get some sushi.

Yelp
First time trying Sushi Koi and I love everything about this place. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and very helpful on what to recommend for their clients. My favorite roll is the central west end roll. And the udon soup is also delicious. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
I recently had Sushi Koi delivered for the first time and let me tell you, it was amazing. I am picky about my sushi and hardly branch out so deciding to order feom somewhere new (to me) was a big deal. I'm being completely honest when I tell you that I think I found my new favorite sushi restaurant. I ordered the sashimi roll, euclid roll, spicy tuna roll, along with a cucumber roll for my 9 month old. This was, by far, the freshest tasting sushi I've had in Saint Louis! The online menu had beautiful pictures and informative descriptions, ordering was simple, and my food arrived fresh and on time. Next time I hope to dine in so that I can update my review in terms of ambiance and service!

Jim E.

Yelp
Holy Cow! I've eaten sushi at some of the finest places in New York, Beverly hills and San Francisco. None have been as beautifully prepared or as savory. Chef Whitney is a master at her trade. I especially loved the Central West End. It was wonderful.
google avatar

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to Sushi Koi to celebrate my birthday, and it was a wonderful experience! When you first walk in the ambiance is small, yet cozy. The service was amazing and we were seated right away. We ordered the Soft Shell Crab as an appetizer which was fried to perfection, although it could have used a touch more salt. We really enjoyed to addition of vegetables to the dish and found the dipping sauce to be a great addition. For our entrees, we ordered the Alaskan Roll and Sunset Roll. Right off the bat the presentation was gorgeous! We were really impressed by the quality of the sushi and the ratio of fish to rice was definitely worth the price. We were very happy with our choices and we plan on coming back again to try a couple other speciality rolls!

Yelp
Good quick spot for some sushi. You can also sit at the sushi bar and watch them hack away. Fun!

Yelp
Phenomenal sushi, great service, and fantastic vibes. A must-visit in the central west end.

Yelp
The sushi was on point. Great, friendly and fast service. We went right at opening and ordered 5 rolls along with some spring rolls. Delish!

Yelp
We've gotten sushi here before but to takeout. We dined in after a movie at the Chase. It's a small, casual sushi restaurant with limited seating. Sushi is delicious, some of the best I've had in St. Louis. The Fried Tofu was fried perfectly, l Ioved it. My boyfriend enjoyed his Salmon Teriyaki. Excellent service. There was one server and she was doing great! I highly recommend Sushi KOI.
google avatar

Lexi M.

Yelp
We didn't make reservations and they had a couple seats left at the sushi bar so we quickly snagged them. Once we sat down, we noticed every today was reserved and tons of pickup ordered were coming in. This place gets so busy! Their ordering system is all through their mobile website so you look at the menu and order from the mobile app. They had such a great menu for sushi. I had the salmon teriyaki but can't wait to come back here to try sushi. They also have a great boba tea menu here too! I tried the Thai Milk tea and really liked the taste.

James N Jennifer M.

Yelp
Small restaurant with NY feel. Food was excellent. Staff was knowledgeable and charming.

Yelp
After reading so many reviews that sushi koi might be the best sushi in st. Louis, I was excited to check it out. We went on a Friday evening, was seated right away, but was told the food is 45-1hr wait. We placed and paid for our order online and began the wait. The food did take an entire hour, and I have to say it was not worth the wait. I was very disappointed that the Amaebi ( sweet shrimp) was not fresh. At $7 a piece, it did not have the sweetness and buttery texture fresh Amaebi has. They also forgot one of our rolls, because we ordered so much, we only found out half way through. We asked to take it off the bill, but the waiter seems reluctant and told us it will come out right away. It took another 15min and we already finished eating by then. Other rolls and nigiris are good ( we did really enjoy the scallop nigiris and scallop roll), but not much better than other places. For the marginally better quality sushi ( except for the Amaebi), it's not worth it for the long wait and lack of service.
google avatar

Marisa B.

Yelp
I cannot speak to the ambiance as I ordered for delivery. The scallop hand roll was delicious and creamy. I was a little confused by the cucumber roll as it was not what it looked like online but it was still tasty. Service was quick.

Scott K.

Yelp
Best sushi in St Louis by far. Large cuts of super fresh fish and they have sea urchin on the menu.

Jan D.

Yelp
The absolute best Sushi! To keep it right to the point, five stars for so very fresh, outstanding presentation, service perfect, availability 5 .In my opinion it is the best I have had in Saint Louis. I hope you give it a visit and enjoy as much as myself.
google avatar

Anthony O.

Yelp
Back to 5 stars. Still one of the best places for sushi, and back to full capacity so you can order a little later in the evening.

Gay D.

Yelp
Food was exceptional and portions large. Owner making sushi is welcoming and masterful. Staff incredibly accommodating! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
My fiancé and I went here for date night dinner on 1/23/24 and we were pleasantly surprised with how delicious our meal was. We were in town for the night and did a quick search for sushi and this place did not disappoint! We got the salmon nigiri as an appetizer and that was very tender and delicious. We got four rolls: Hamachi Garlic Ponzu Roll, Dragon Roll, Euclid Roll, and Crazy Roll. Every roll was so fresh and carefully curated with their individual tastes. The Hamachi Garlic Ponzu Roll was very bright and flavorful- we loved the toasted garlic on top! Our favorite was probably the Euclid roll- we loved that the spicy tuna wasn't ground up! We also usually get spicy mayo as a side to dip our rolls in; we honestly didn't even use much of it as there was plenty of different sauces on the plate. The restaurant in itself is pretty small, I believe only around 7 booth areas, so I'm sure you'd have to call ahead for larger groups. Our waitress was on point!!! She was so responsive and attentive to our needs, whether it be a water refill or asking if we needed anything. Highly recommend this establishment!
google avatar

Tamara J.

Yelp
I ordered delivery from Sushi Koi and it was fantastic. We had two different rolls, seaweed salad and miso soup. All were very fresh and delicious! Highly recommended.

Yelp
I cannot express how amazing this restaurant is! This is, by far, the best sushi restaurant that I have found in STL. The menu pricing and portion size are very reasonable, considering the expertise of the chef and the dedication of the staff to keep up with orders in a small-spaced restaurant. Most of the dishes I order are raw fish, which are all very fresh and cut well. If you are a sushi connoisseur and lover, I would stray away from non-seafood options as it is not as worth it to me. However, I do understand the appeal to those who are vegetarian or cannot eat raw fish. My go-to order is the $21 Chirashi Bowl, which includes an ample bed of sweet sushi rice, thick slices of a various sashimi-I believe salmon, tuna, scallop, and possibly yellowtail-seaweed salad, Japanese pickles, pickled roots, various roe, and a sweet steamed egg. Honestly, I might be missing some things in the bowl, but that simply shows how filling it is. I greatly enjoy the diversity of food and flavors in this bowl, as well as the chef's personalization of it.

Connor Z.

Yelp
Great ginger salad for starters and some of the best salmon avocado rolls I've ever had. Surprised this is in St. Louis!
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
I have only ordered carry out and have not dined in. The sushi is one of the best in St. Louis. So good that I am willing to drive nearly 30 min each way to get carry out over other options near by. Fresh, delicious, good portion of ingredients, and fairly priced. Ordering online is easy and the staff is always friendly during pick up.

Austin F.

Yelp
Sitting casually At the slightly tacky, As if recently painted, Bar Of a small, neighborhood Sushi restaurant, Just sitting And waiting, In an unhurried way, For the jewel like fish Waiting inches in front of me, Hearing the lowline chatter Of weeknight diners, The occasional excited statement Rising above the clatter, A contextless excerpt, Sitting alone, My small, solitary movements Casually seen and ignored, A stranger in a small, hungry crowd, My eyes allowed to rise, And stare, Before unhurriedly moving away, Over all details in the room, Drinking them in In their fine, casual detail, Like my third fill of sake, As our chef, A foot away, Busily, but unhurriedly, Works their hands On the rice and fish, As they've done Night and night before, Switching effortlessly Between focused frown And casual smile, And I drink, And sit, And smile casually, Sitting calmly, Enjoying just a moment Of unhurried peace, Surrounded and alone And happy, Waiting for my meal. edit: The hamachi garlic ponzu roll was one of the best rolls I've had in my life. Wow.

Yelp
This place is Awesome. We hit Happy Hour so all the rolls we like were on the menu. This was the Best Miso Soup I ever had. It small but quaint. Portion size is just right. California roll, spicy salmon, shrimp tempura were yummy. We also had the special Baked Mussel. Our Server Justin was knowledgeable and attentive. Great service!! He didn't give me a hard time when I asked for a fork!!
