A neighborhood favorite along the Almaden–Willow Glen corridor, known for friendly service, generous fish, and house specialties like the Battleship. The restaurant’s site confirms consistent hours and independent ownership.

Great sushi here! Be sure to put your name on waitlist when you arrive. There was a line when we arrived, it was a Friday around 7pm. The restaurant parking wasn't great, but we parked in the lot next door where the movie theater is and walked right over. Decor looks kinda dated, tables were clean. I didn't need to use restroom, so no comment on that. Service was great, lots of items to choose from on the menu. Once we were seated, everyone got water and miso soup. The rolls we had were delish!

Google
Great sushi place at an off-beat location! Food was great, Service was fantastic and efficient and prices very reasonable. We liked almost everything that was served. The flaming dragon, dancing albacore, and assorted sashimi were absolutely great! Other rolls were really good, and loaded with fish. The only thing that we didn't like was fried calamry, was very dry and chewy. I will say the food is reasonably priced compared to what you're getting. The location is the opposite of fancy - next to McDonald's and some commercial area, and parking can be a bit of a challenge if the place is busy (which it usually is)

Great cozy atmosphere, very quick with the service. Can be a little busy, but it's to be expected. I really liked the sushi with mango slices. A neat touch!

The waitress warned us that the large sushi rolls are really big and we didn’t think much of it but the “large” sushi rolls were some of the largest I have ever seen! Definitely should experience. Also got a bento where the salmon was a bit dry. They were nice to give out miso soup to the little one.

Google
My new favorite local sushi place. Beautiful presentation and delicious taste. Hot the sushi platter, sushi and sashimi, and flaming dragon roll for two people. Just enough. By the way, their miso soup is also really good it’s a standalone building and the area is a little divey but inside is nice, clean. Service is fast and friendly.

Google
The server was so kind even if we came in a bit late. No sign of attitude at all. They’re located in an awkward area, so parking is a bit of a challenge which is easily covered by the parking lot over by McDonald’s. Hot tea was free! Miso soup is delish and BBQ mussels has a slightly different taste than what I usually get from other sushi places. My tempura shrimp and vegetables was perfectly crispy. Reached over to try a roll off of my son’s plate and it was fresh as it can be. I will order my go to saba dinner plate next time because yes, I’ll be coming back here whenever I crave a Japanese meal.

Google
I would say this is a solid sushi place but not our favorite. Pros: Inside had a nice vibe and decor. Very creative rolls and big menu. Workers were nice, service was good, & fast food. Cons: The rolls were huge (stuffed with fake crab) and the fish was thin. We got the flaming dragon, too big, drowning in so much sauce you really couldn't taste the fish. Outside is a bit sketchy and parking was difficult.

I don’t usually leave a review or at all, even if it is really bad. Well, my favorite place here that I’ve visited for years, has extremely disappointed me so much that I just can’t justify a next visit ever again. Ordered at 4:50pm(opens at 5pm) for pickup at 5:30pm I’ve ordered: Garlic Roll Nigiri Seared Salmon x 2 Nigiri Yellow Tail x 2 Nigiri SkipBack x 2 First off, the rice was taken out too early. If you have a rice cooker, you’ll know how it tastes and feel when the moment you take it out after it finishes. It felt soggy with a bit of crunch. That goes for both the roll and nigiri I’ve ordered. I think rice is just as important if not more than the fish itself.. Secondly, the nigiri I’ve ordered did not taste fresh. There is no savory-ness and is really bland. If I were to close my eyes, I couldn’t tell you which is what... Rice was bland and did not taste sweet like sushi rice should. I’m sure the roll and nigiri are from the same rice, undercooked. Thirdly, how old are leftover sushi from earlier the day??? Why is the tuna so dark?? Shouldn’t this “skipjack” tuna be a bit red-brown??? Sad to say but for $80, the rice could have at-least been better. I just can’t see myself visiting a place I’ve liked for years that did extremely poor on this delivery of sushi. Just don’t order or be here right when they open, you’ll most likely get their scrap and rushing. No matter what price range you pay($5 a piece per nigiri), quality won’t be checked and you’ll just have to be lucky to get fresh quality ones. I’ve had bad nigiri but not this rice-bad. Not sure what happened in today’s order or if it is just bad timing, but I’ve had better in previous visits(10+) and enjoyed every visits besides today.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant. Looks a little shady from the outside but when you walk in, everything is nice. The sushi was great and it convinced some non sushi people to eat it. At the end, the mochi ice cream was a perfect dessert and i highly recommend it. Great service as well.

Yelp
Last night was my second visit to Sushi Koya, and just like the first time, the place was already buzzing about an hour after opening! They have a QR code ordering system, but there's also a waiter checking in, which is super convenient. I forgot to take a picture of the short rib dinner (our absolute favorite and honestly the main reason we come back), but it's a must-try. A couple of notes: the bathrooms are located outside the restaurant, and the parking lot is on the smaller side. Also, a little bummer -- they don't make their tamago in-house. But overall, the food and vibe keep me coming back!

Yelp
I found Sushi Koya thanks to a craving for sushi and a quick Yelp search--and I'm so glad I did! I stopped in for Takeout* on a Wednesday evening and left with the Lollipop Roll and Spicy Garlic Edamame. Both were absolutely delicious and hit the spot. *Takeout - i sat at the bar and waited for my food (it was ready in 10 mins!!), sipping a complimentary ice water with lemon It was my first visit, and I was genuinely impressed. The service and vibe was outstanding--10/10 from the moment I walked in. Friendly, fast, and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in what they do. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Prices were more than fair for the quality and portion sizes. They even had a $0.99 sake special for dine-in, which I'll definitely keep in mind for next time. This place feels like a hidden gem, and part of me wants to keep it that way... but they absolutely deserve the love. I'll definitely be back. Thanks, Yelp, for helping me discover my new go-to sushi spot!

Yelp
Ugh! I saw a little mouse scurry into the restaurant when another patron opened the backdoor. I should have just left the restaurant since I hadn't ordered yet. No apology or acknowledgement for the situation by the staff. To top it off the restaurant forgot one of my order. And later they double charge me for the missing order. No apology either. I'll never come back here again.

Yelp
Stumbled upon sushi Koya with a quick Yelp search and man, the reviews were not wrong! Im super impressed with the price point and quality of the food! It is also important to know that our server was super friendly, smiled all the time, and just kept checking on us. We had their salmon sake don and bento box. Their portions are also super generous.!

Yelp
FOOD was good! I ordered the crunch roll and lion king. Both were yummy. My friends ordered the 49er roll. They bring you miso soup to start. SERVICE was up to my standards. They refilled our water and brought new napkins. You can use two credit cards to split a bill. AMBIANCE is cute inside. They have a bar area to sit or traditional seating. They have cute lantern decorations outside. They're located next to McDonald's. They have their own small parking lot. It wasn't too loud inside. I didn't have to yell to hear my friends talk. GENERAL I would come back here.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a birthday. We ordered hot tea which was pretty good. It was too crowded and the vibe was unpretentious. Food: We ordered the sashimi sampler, the Pablo Escobar roll, spicy dragon roll, scallop roll, and a teriyaki roll. Everything was fresh with generous portions--definitely a highlight. Service: It took about 15 minutes before we were able to place our order, and the dishes came out at different times. Our server was okay--not especially attentive, but no real complaints either. Ambience: Quaint and comfortable. A nice, relaxed vibe overall. Good enough for a return visit.

Yelp
Nice sushi place in SJ. I had a cup of complimentary Tang when I came in. It was busy and lively. We were seated almost immediately for our party of 5. The service was good and everyone enjoyed the food. We had the Pablo Escobar rolls, Scallops, Sashimi, cucumber salad, The chicken teriyaki and other dishes also. Well cooked and nice portions. Fairly priced and easy. See you soon.

Yelp
The food here is great. Got the monstar roll it is really large, it felt like it was about 3 rolls in one. Had really good flavor just hard to eat. The parking lot is small but there is additional parking close by. It was 81 outside and it was pretty hot inside the restaurant if you're going on a warm day.

Yelp
This is only my second time coming here but I forgot how good it was! The rolls and appetizers are very filling and tasteful. I came around 6:30pm and was seated right away! But if you come a little later, expect a long wait time. Decorations were very cute and cozy. And the waiters were very nice. Bathrooms are outside but they are very clean in my opinion.

Yelp
Tried a new sushi spot in search of my regular spot. This place wasn't too bad. Upon sitting we were quickly served water and miso soup without having to ask. The miso soup was hot and delicious, not too salty or watery. Got some garlic edamame for appetizer and it was flavorful but a little too oily toward the bottom. We ordered the spicy tuna crunch roll and bay scallop roll (baked). Both were very good and fresh. I would order them again. And I'd likely try this place again. Service was good as well.

Yelp
#taste - 5/5 #portion size - 5/5 #service - 5/5 #value - 4.5/5 #recommendation(s) - I recommend a bento box if you are wanting to eat a good amount. #context - this is tucked in the middle-ish of a plaza and just happened to stumble across it. I was really impressed with the portion size and the quality of the food. Many other Japanese restaurants in the area serve smaller portions or do not taste as fresh. #like - the tempura portion is very generous with a nice variety of shrimp and vegetables. The servers are attentive and very respectful/polite.

Yelp
The good: This was delicious! It's a new favorite. My family had a craving for sushi today but the place we normally order from was closed so we got to try this amazing spot. We ordered to go ahead online and tried a variety of different specialty rolls and sashimi. The sashimi options were plentiful and varied a lot. The fish was fresh. I tried herring in herring roe for the first time and that blew my mind. It was crunchy and sweet and not at all what I expected it to be. It wasn't fishy at all. The presentation was beautiful. The rolls each had unique flavors that differed from one another. I liked the rolls with fresh lemon and seared smoky flavors. My toddler enjoyed the sticky ikura. Their menu offered tons of options. Everyone in my family enjoyed the meal. The bad: It's pricey but that's understandable. There was a bit of a wait for our pickup order. The interesting: The exterior looks like an old Taco Bell or Mexican food spot.

Yelp
(SJ) Food: Monstar (9.6/10)-Deep fried shrimp, crab meat, spicy tuna, fresh water eel, covered with fried seabass, topped with spicy poki salad. The name absolutely fits what it is. It is way bigger than it looks on the picture. I could not finish it by myself. Thinner rice content which I like because you can really taste the diverse ingredients on the place. It has a nice crunch from the friend shrimp which added texture to its size. Flavor is there. don't really need to add soy sauce. I just wish it had a little bit more spice which is my only critique Setting: for a small venue I like the set up. You can see the chefs making your meal and some of the ingredients are out for display. Indoor only Service: great service for it being very busy. We were seated quickly though. Our server was attentive and we got our requests immediately Price: it is expensive but worth it for the quality Parking: not a lot of parking at the actual spot so you most likely have to park at the neighboring stores

Yelp
Back here again to celebrate end of the year, we ordered our favorite roll, Garlic Roll, and tried some new dishes. Beef teriyaki bento, tempura and CA roll: 4/5 Big portion enough for two people sharing. Tempura was crunchy on the outside and moist inside. The beef was kinda chewy and overcooked. Shio Saba dinner special: 5/5 No words can describe this magnificient dish!!! San Jose Deep Fried Roll 3/5 Not really a fan of this one. Each slice was so big that it was soggy inside after being deep fried. Also it was supposed to have cream cheese but I barely could taste it. The roll itself was just so bland. Service was good as always, really attentive even though the store was super busy. The store was recently renovated (I guess), with new paint and decoration. Now it looks well-lit and has more Japanese Izakaya vibe.

Yelp
If I'm craving sushi I go here! My go to order is the 49er roll which is a lemon salmon roll! The staff is super polite and works fast to get you your order. With complimentary miso soup, the rolls are delicious and reasonably priced. I love coming to Koya for the holidays because they decorate the restaurant with lights.

Yelp
Located adjacent to the McDonalds, the parking lot here sucks! It's crammed and doesn't have enough spots to support the restaurant. When you walk in, it gives off taco bravo vibes with orange brick walls. I was skeptical, I'm not going to lie.... But we've had a few people recommend this place so we sat down. The pace is fast here and the employees were really nice but also very busy. Sushi was good and the portions were large. Sushi and sashimi tasted fresh, tempura was on point, and their salad dressing is delicious. Everything we had was really yummy, only thing I would skip next time is dancing albacore. Nothing wrong with it, just didn't love the mix of the albacore on top of crab meat. Overall, solid sushi spot. Can't wait to come back and try more.

Kayla K.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I absolutely love Sushi Koya! We come here almost every week because it's just that good. The sushi is always super fresh and tasty, and everything we've tried has been amazing. It's a small, family-owned spot and you can really feel that personal touch. The owners and staff are so friendly and make you feel right at home every time you walk in. Service is always great and the vibe is super welcoming. Honestly, we don't even bother trying other sushi spots anymore--this one has our hearts (and our stomachs)!
google avatar

Yelp
Sushi Koya is our go to sushi spot for casual, lowkey sushi. For the price, it's really good and they have a wide variety of options. We love showing up in our sweatpants on a Friday night to enjoy sushi and sake bombs!
google avatar

Yelp
Solid local sushi spot, with giant sushi rolls, and huge bento boxes. The amount of food you get is unreal. Looking forward to trying more of the menu.

Yelp
3.5 Came here on a Sunday night around 7:30. Was seated right away. Looked like they accommodate large groups as well, saw a table for 10 set up. Mediocore cleanliness with chopstick wrapper on the floor and chipped plates. They bring you water, and you order via the QR code on the table. After making your selections, you can also mark any allergies (marked gluten and soy). Make sure you confirm once the food arrives though, because one of the rolls had black tobiko with soy. ASSORTED SASHIMI 20pcs had varying fish selections. Seven types of fish, 3 of each, 2 of one. I appreciated the assortment, but the sashimi tasted more on the warmer-softer side (see photo) 49ER ROLL was essentially salmon and avocado with a lemon slice. It was simple, refreshing and worked very well for my diet restrictions. CRAZY FOR YOU ROLL had a little bit of salmon, yellowtail, tuna, avocado, and tobiko. This was okay, but not the smoothest to eat with it being 5 large pieces (see photo)...a bit of a mouthful in an unpleasant way. In general, the rice in the rolls were a bit mushy, sashimi was okay, and overall not too impressed. I would come back, but not by craving or as a top choice.

Yelp
This experience was definitely American sushi and if you like large portions and massive sushi, then this is your place. So think like 3" thick rolls, deep fried shrimp/crab, and baked rolls. Those are their specialty from my experience with their menu. Like I think that nearly 75% of the rolls had something deep fried in it. However, if you're looking for sushi to fit in your mouth in one bite or not deep-fried things, look elsewhere. We got the Bay 101, Wild Spice, and the Philidelphia roll. As for their fish, it was quite fresh and had no fishy flavor which is a sign of their freshness (on a Friday so you'd expect this). Their menu did not have photos and we didn't check Yelp beforehand for photos and weren't expecting the Wild Spice to be as large as it was. Their Philadelphia roll was one of the better ones I've seen! with large chunks of salmon that were nice and fatty. One comment about their wasabi is that it kinda looked like playdough but tasted the same as everywhere else. As for the service, it was great. Servers got our food so quickly and all at once, which was a big plus for the presentation. The place is cozy but loud and not great parking. Overall, 4 stars because the fish was freshly thawed and the service was good; just not my style of sushi preference.

Alex A.

Yelp
This place is my go to for sushi in san jose, and although there are other good places there's none like this. The food is always on point highly recommend the koya ball as well as the dancing albacore for appetizers. The katsu is great and the cherry blossom is amazing. All the servers do such a wonderful job but what makes this place stand out from the rest is the cherry on top. Ue he has such attention to detail providing the best service been comming here for 7 years and ive never been disappointed.

Yelp
We ordered sushi to-go from here and it was fantastic! 1st roll was the 49'er Roll - Salmon/Avocado covered with Salmon and Sliced Lemon. This is a nice sized roll and the lemon is the perfect touch to complete the roll. 2nd roll was the Rainbow Roll- CA Roll covered with array of raw fish and avocado. Again super fresh flavor. The different tunas are fresh and tender. And a nice sized roll. 3rd roll was the G.G Bridge which a CA Roll covered with Salmon & Yellow Tail. Also a great size and super fresh and fish tender and fresh. (Squeezing lemon on this is also very good) 4th roll was Dancine Albacore. Albacore tuna with crab meat served with special sauce and tobiko. This was so delicious and unique. I would definitely order again. We also ordered an Avocado roll and some raw fish. Everything was super fresh and cold as it should be. Would definitely order again. HIGHLY recommended!

Yelp
Not a bad spot for sushi, I stopped here before going to the San Jose Enchant Christmas hoping to fill myself up before. I enjoyed the sushi but some of the options we chose weren't too enjoyable, maybe it was just our taste buds, it's very small here and the parking is small as well. Overall the service was very quick and the staff are really nice!

Yelp
Sushi Koya is a hidden gem when it comes to Bay Area Japanese cuisine. You can tell the quality of fish is high and they really take care of their customers here. If you want to order the biggest sushi roll you have ever seen, it's on the menu called Monstar. Be sure to split with a friend, because you won't be able to finish it yourself unless you're a true whale.
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite sushi spot in San José! I love that the rolls are sooo good and they do not overprice their food. We have tried probably half of the rolls at this point and the 3 top favorites are the: 49er Roll - Lemony and amazing if you love the taste of salmon. Allen Roll - Saucy and has a smoky flavor to it. Koya Roll - Saucy and comforting. For appetizers, I recommend their veggie tempura, shrimp tempura and their gyoza. The staff is ALWAYS friendly, kind, and super helpful. We've never had a bad experience here. The restaurant itself is cozy, but super comforting. Parking may be a little hard if you come on a Saturday night for dinner, but we never mind waiting.

Yelp
This has been one of our go to places for sushi and bento boxes in the area for more than 5 years. The quality has been consistent throughout these years and the food is fresh and delicious.

Yelp
We tried this sushi restaurant for the first time based on Yelp reviews, and unfortunately, it was a really disappointing experience. From the moment we sat down, our female server seemed rushed--but when we looked around, the place was practically empty. What's the hurry when you hardly have any tables? She rushed off right after taking our order, without even asking if we wanted anything to drink. My boyfriend actually had to get up and go to the counter just to order a beer. We ordered the garlic edamame, the 24/24 sushi roll, and the gyozas. The garlic edamame were inedible--mushy, soaked in oil, and they tasted like they had been microwaved. The 24/24 roll was unbelievably large; I've never seen a sushi roll that size. It was so big it was impossible to eat with chopsticks (which we're very comfortable using). We tried eating one piece but gave up and ended up asking for a to-go box. We even asked the server if this was the normal size roll, and she told us that "most people need a knife to eat it, and it's the only roll on the menu that size." At that point we couldn't help but wonder--if that's the case, why wouldn't you just bring us a knife in the first place? The only thing we actually enjoyed were the gyozas, which were tasty and cooked well. But between the inattentive, rushed service and the disappointing quality of most of the food, we left feeling very dissatisfied. Definitely won't be coming back.

Yelp
Arrived for dinner (around 7PM) and my partner and I were sat right away. Parking here is limited so make sure you give yourself extra time to figure out parking situations! Service was very fast and our server was super kind. One downside was that my entree came out way too early, even before the appetizer, and my partner's food came out last when I was already done with my meal. However, bright side is that the reviews are right: portions are HUGE here! Be careful to not over order because they do not skimp out. The time our food dropped on the table wasn't the biggest deal but I know it may bother some people. Sushi was incredibly fresh and filling! & the bento boxes are beautifully presented and hefty.

Yelp
We have a new favorite place to grab sushi! 10/10 service. No complaints. The inside is nicely decorated with Japan vibes. Lovely artwork from dining tables to curtains.

Yelp
Sushi Koya is a fresh sushi gem in a modest Setting. Tucked away in a humble strip mall, it might just surprise you. While the decor won't sweep you off your feet, the real star of the show lies in their fresh, super generous portions of sushi. On my first visit, I opted for a mini feast, and boy, did they deliver! The appetizers were my favorite but they have a vast selection of unique rolls, so if you are going the roll route, this is the place for you! It was a refreshing change in a world of heavy-handed sauce drenched sushi. The prices are more than fair for the quality and quantity you receive.

Yelp
3.5 stars Have been curious about Sushi Koya based on the high rating, decided to give it a try yesterday. Arrived shortly after they opened at 5pm, the place filled up rather quickly. The dining area is not very large; a narrow strip next to the kitchen; service was efficient, the waitresses were all very friendly which is definitely a plus. For the four of us, we orderd a $45 30 piece sashime platter, three appetizers (agadashi tofu, hamachi kama and 4 pieces of tempura shrimps). we also had three rolls, 49ers, bay 101 and cherry blossom. As soon as we were seated, the complimentary miso soup was served steamy hot, it was a bit salty for my taste but others appeared to have enjoyed it. Feedback from our party was kind of mixed, we likely the rolls expecially the 49er, the kama may have been grilled then deep fried so it's crispy but a little dry. Tofu was good / simply tasting. The tempura was heavily coated with batter probably from frozen pre-made, the shrimp inside was still cold but our waitress was kind enough to have it re-fried once we pointed out the issues. I was a little disappointed with the sashimi platter, there were 3 pieces each of 10 different kind of fish; unfortunately most of us only enjoyed less than half of the fish the rest didn't taste very fresh, we'd be better off ordering exactly the kind of fish we liked. Overall we think it's a decent place for lunch or dinner boxes or rolls; service is pretty good and prices was reasonable compare to others; for picker sashime lover, it's better to order by individual fish.

Yelp
If you're up for Japanese food in a casual setting with great food and service, this is the place to go in Cambrian Park. Been here and brought my family and friends and they all say the same thing. Their menu prices are reasonable in the way of their large portions unlike some other sushi places with smaller portions. Their bento boxes are served with lots of food!

Yelp
I've been in San Jose all my life and this is the first time I tried sushi koya! Great service and great food! Just a heads up, all the rolls are pretty big and filling so there was 4 of us, we got 3 rolls and finished 80%, all of us eat a lot too. Garlic roll: not heavy on garlic, melts in your mouth and super yummy! Monster: I asked for the seaweed salad on the side because I'm not a fan, I had to bite little by little because of how big this roll was haha. I like the sauce and would get again. I forgot his name but he's tall and has black spiky hair. He was the only one working but super attentive and really nice!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday evening with 2 friends and left satisfied. We ordered the 49'ers roll, garlic roll, and assorted sashimi. We substituted the spicy tuna inside the garlic roll for salmon. One of the employees was considerate and asked if we wanted to substitute the white tuna that came on top of the roll (in case we had salmon preference for it as well), so that was a nice gesture. 49'ers is my go-to roll, and it didn't disappoint. It was a solid roll and I loved the perfect thinness of the lemon slices. The garlic roll was delicious as well, but it felt heavy with the cream cheese. The sashimi was the last to come out and it didn't taste fresh. Service was friendly and quick. I would come back for the rolls, but not the sashimi.

Yelp
Place is our go to for crispy tempura and yummy rolls. The place looks like a converted home to a restaurant. It's really small place but the food and service is great.

Yelp
i've been here a few time, and i came with my mom. The place is small, and parking can be a little difficult especially during the dinner rush, but all in all, it was worth it. we came during the dinner hours, and it was honestly very busy. The servers were running around, and i didn't order with one of them - did the QR code and placed it that way. I should've just ordered with a person, because our food took longer than others - there were a few people who came in after us, and their food came before us. I would probably recommend coming during the lunch hours, or just before they open for dinner. You might have a less wait time doing that, then coming during the height of a dinner rush

Yelp
F O O D: 2.5/5 - Let that man go roll - the fishy was not fresh for two of the pieces. I'm a sushi connoisseur, so I know when my fish is just on the fishier side or went bad. this was one of the cases where it was in between T_T my cousin and I each got a bad piece :( other than that the rest of the roll was okayyyy, I had better mango combo rolls elsewhere 3.5/5 - flaming dragon - nothing mind blowing but not bad either, more for the show of it being lit on fire 5/5 - miso soup (on the house) - pretty good and standard 4/5 - agadashi tofu - veryyy hot and fresh, pretty yum, gets soggy fast though, so eat it quick! S E R V I C E: 5/5 - our waitress was very fast and attentive A M B I A N C E: 5/5 - I really love the ambiance in here, very warm and cozy with the wood.

Yelp
We came in around 1:30 and there were plenty of seats available. Our server was very nice and checked up on us during our meal. Service wise 5/5! appetizer Battleship: Deep fried jalapeno, stuffed with shrimp, avocado, spicy tuna, crab meat and cream cheese 4/5 Personally, I felt like the dough/ rice fry around the jalapeño was on the heavier side which kind of drowned out the flavor of the fish. It is definitely an exotic appetizer if that is something that interests you. I would recommend trying it topped with the seaweed salad (: Assorted Sashimi: 20 piece sashimi Some of the sashimi slices had a fishy taste but I couldn't gather if that was from the fish taste itself or something was going on. My favorite was this two piece sashimi that had fish eggs underneath it. I wished I asked for the name of it before I ate it haha but overall the sashimi was pretty good. I wish they served a thicker cuts, because compared to others i've had, it's much thinner... but it's sashimi so it's understandable. 49'ers roll: Standard 49er's roll, I loved their salmon. Every piece we had, from other rolls and the sashimi platter included, came out very fresh! Crazy for you roll: FAVORITE SUSHI ROLL I loved the combination of fish! Each roll was PACKED with fish. Out of all our items, this roll and the sashimi would be my top picks.

Yelp
Sushi was yummy! The salmon was fresh and the portion was good. It was busy on a Friday night and it's a smaller place. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bartender was quick with service too!

Yelp
Sushi rolls are tasty and big here. I always get takeout and really enjoy it. I've only dined in once and didn't have the greatest experience. The restaurant is small so it gets super cramped when it is busy. I had to sit at the bar as there were no tables left and it was right in front of the waiting area- all these people are crowded behind you waiting. There was also not much room to move around so a guest had even spilled water and soy sauce which landed on me a little. The staff was apologetic but it took awhile to get cleaned. The food service pace was decent for it being so busy and the sushi chefs were able to hand the orders to me directly. No one really checked in on me throughout the meal though. I would stick to take out moving forward.

Yelp
Love this place. Great staff that hustles hard. We usually get take out and while they're super busy, they take tjme to provide great customer service. Love their sushi too. Very happy with portion sizes.

Yelp
*My review is solely based on the sake don (salmon sashimi bowl) and take out since I've always ordered the same thing and for pick up For the past two years that I've lived in San Jose, Sushi Koya is my #1 spot to order sushi (specifically their salmon sashimi bowl). Service: I usually call in around dinner time (5-6pm) to place my order. Even during their peak hours, they always have my order ready in 15-20 minutes. Everyone there has always been so friendly and double checked that my order was right. Food: The quality of their salmon is really good! All pieces are super buttery, thick, and always tastes fresh and never fishy. They give a generous amount. Their sushi rice is also yummy and has the perfect amount of vinegar. Price: The sake don is around $30. The price has raised a couple dollars in the past two years but I completely think it's worth it. It also comes with miso soup and salad so I can usually get away with splitting it into two meals! Overall, I highly recommend Sushi Koya. One of these days I'll have to dine in, but based on the food alone, it's one of my favorite spots for sushi!

Yelp
We ordered take out from here. The tuna on our cherry blossom was not fresh. The texture was off and it was very fishy. Unfortunately we had to toss that off and didn't wanna risk it. We also had a side of miso soup but found hair & plastic residue from the take out container in it. The quality of the food here & cleanliness was questionable but the staff seemed nice. Food isn't authentic.. it's fusion. But location wise it was closest to us for take out and looked like they had good reviews so gave it a try.... But don't think I'd come back... Will try other places instead.

Yelp
Perfect on everything!!! My favorite part of Sushi Koya is their complementary miso soup :D My most recommended roll here is the Allen's roll! Amazing for family dinners, date nights, or just going out with friends! Service is super quick and chefs are extremely nice :)
