An Omakase Menu Inspired by Both Korean and Japanese Cuisines | Eater

"A West Hollywood sushi restaurant run by the chef's family that became the stage for a Korean-American chef to fuse Korean and Japanese cuisines into an omakase experience. After wrestling with initial insecurity about making sushi because of his background and receiving encouragement from his parents, the chef developed a menu that feels authentic to him, showcasing inventive dishes like the blue crab ganjang gejang nigiri — hailed as a perfect marriage of identity and innovation. The restaurant is scheduled to close this fall to make way for a total redevelopment of the property." - Eater Video

Google
I love Sushi Kura It’s a hole in the wall restaurant. this restaurant is very small, but the food is delicious. I don’t have any pictures of my sushi rolls to share because we always end up eating them before we can post a picture. This feels like a family own business. There’s usually one hostess, and they are always very kind and attentive. You really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. I love the Golden Gate roll. The green sauce is absolutely delicious.

Google
Nice small "hole in the wall" feel. Simple walk up and order process. Fresh and good tasting. Ordered a Philly roll and yellowtail Sashimi

Google
Super cute place with great deals. I got the Bento Combo with 2 entrees. Bento Combo: spicy tuna rolls, tonkatsu, miso soup and salad. Love the decor and the service was great.

Google
Wow I was blowm away by the exquisite food, unbelievable prices, friendly people. We loved it. It's find of far for is but it's worth the drive. Highly recommended. BTW, must order the IN and OUT dish.

Google
Well, we became regular customers of this place. Always tasty, fresh, fast! Prices and service are very nice. Honestly, I'm a sushi fan, I've tried sushi in different countries around the world, so I can highly recommend the sushi here. Dyakuyu! (Thanks in Ukrainian!😁)

Google
My new favorite sushi place! The sushi was delicious. We ordered Albacore, tuna, and salmon belly. The meat was plentiful! We also ordered the crunch roll which was delicious! Beware though that parking is limited.

Agustin Cruz

Google
The sushi and drink selection is amazing. The prices are fair, and the rolls themselves are big. My go-to's are the popcorn shrimp and grilled salmon. The mango tea is as good as the shrimp.

Google
I love finding those places that have great service and good food. This is one of those places. Sushi is one of the only foods that I will drive some distance, for great food even if there are restaurants that sell good food of the same type near me. It is a small place, bit that is good. The only issue that I have is not with Sushi Kura. Their location in a small strip mall does not have very much parking. Other than that the Google maps does a good job getting you there. It is definitely a place that I will go again.

Yelp
Another excellent dining experience. Though true that you now need to order at the counter and pay first, the service was excellent and the food made to order and tasty. The Udon soup hit the spot, as did the Tonkotsu bowl and Sesame Chicken bowl. The background music was lovely and enjoyable. Although we have been dining out less often, this location remains a staple in our rotation, and we were pleased to notice there has not been a significant pricing increase since our last visit. Ps - Must Try Roll: Golden Gate with the side of Mango and Green sauce!

Yelp
It's currently 1:45am 4/14/25 and I have been up all night with food poisoning after eating dinner from here. I have eaten here previously on 3/19/25 and I enjoyed my meal very much. Both times I ordered the 2 item bento with spicy tuna roll and sesame chicken. It wasn't long after I finished eating, I started feeling sharp pains in my stomach. It appears this time the food was not fresh or safe to eat at all.
google avatar

Christina J.

Yelp
The rolls we ordered tasted exactly the same. The salmon sashimi was suspect. Where did this come from. From the picture it looks good and then you take a bite and wonder if it's from the grocery store. Not sushi grade. You need to order at the counter. Grab your tap water. Grab your packets of soy sauce and scoop your own wasabi into a side plate. Hot tea was something outrageous. Won't go back.

Yelp
Quaint mom & pop Korean owned and operated this place is a hidden gem. Their prices are fantastic, sashimi quality is solid. Hamachi and Salmon belly huge pieces, true Japanese style. Amazing sushi for the price. Not fancy, just good!

Yelp
It was requested to find my company bento boxes for the regional meetings. But I heard, the one close to us was shut down. I found through Yelp Sushu Kura and they did not disappoint. I ordered for a large group of 15 with different bento items and they all came out amazing. Everyone loved all the dishes, the miso soup and salads. I think the sushi went the quickest! Experience was great from ordering to pick up to eating the food. I definitely recommend you try this location. Their honey lemonade is out of this world!

Yelp
Food was fantastic! This is now an order, pay and seat yourself place ... no table service. However, the people are friendly and as stated before, the food was delicious.

Michelle H.

Yelp
Trust the bad reviews... I'd stay away from this place at all costs. We only ordered sushi, so I can't speak to any of the hot food they serve, but the quality of the sushi fish was horrendous. The salmon doesn't look like real salmon, it may be a different type of fish that is dyed or just really low quality. The albacore tasted like it was old. And it is a self serve restaurant where you have to pay first, so you're stuck with bad food after you've already paid.

Tiny Y.

Yelp
The food is usually pretty good, but super annoyed they were closed during what was supposed to be open business hours. If you need a catering order to pick up some thing because you're hosting, they're not reliable. Being closed until 230 on a Saturday is so dumb in the first place. It's LA, not the boonies

Yelp
Ordered 2 sushi platters on Tuesday for an impromptu dinner party at 5:30 pm. The 2 platters were ready on time and most importantly the sushi was fresh and tasted great. Everyone loved the variety of sushi, the portions of the sushi and the taste. Excellent food and service.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the atmosphere is special here. The music and the service were fantastic will definitely come back either on a date or business meeting

Yelp
Large portions, large rolls, and average in price point (due to the deals they often offer of BOGO). The fish quality isn't that fresh here and the last 2 times I did take out, the sushi rolls had a more 'left over fishy' taste/smell to it. Since by the time we picked it up we had already paid for it and had no other dinner, we all proceeded to still eat it lol. Thankfully none of us got sick. We thought it was just a one off. The second time we were in the neighborhood and needed some quick eats, we tried this spot again and Lo and behold the same fishy stale smell and taste. Second time, still no food poisoning 8) Not sure what to say about this spot other than it's decently cheap in price, you'll have a lot to eat but quality isn't the best . The variety in sushi rolls were a bit better than your average shop. Service - slow but all the workers were really kind. Ambiance - free parking in a dingy a bit dirty plaza. After checking out the exterior and interior, we were glad we all did take out.

Yelp
I'm not sure what others saw in this place, but I went to bed hungry. Thank goodness for travel snacks. I ordered the salmon killer and it definitely is not killing anything but my taste buds, in a bad way. The spicy tuna was even worse. The rolls were large and you the prices are reasonable.

Yelp
This place was pretty decent! I went with a couple of friends and walked into a cozy spot with Korean music playing. I went when it wasn't busy so the waiter was very attentive. I ordered the Golden Gate roll which came with cilantro-based and mango-based sauces. I thought the salmon was good but overall the roll wasn't flavorful even with the sauce so it's a milder roll for someone who really wants to focus on the salmon. I wouldn't order it again but the salmon was yummy!! My friend ordered the Salmon Killer roll which I thought was AMAZING. It was swiped with spicy mayo and eel sauce for anyone who likes that flavor combo. Rated by my friend as 8.5/10. He also ordered the house iced tea (unsweetened) and thought it was 5/10. Another friend got the kura roll combo (6 piece spicy tuna, 6 piece crunch roll, 4 piece gold dragon). Rated by the friend as 7.5/10. He also ordered green tea and gave it a 7/10 because it was just a tea bag in a small pot and didn't get refilled. It was a nice experience but I am not dying to come back again.

Yelp
The food is not very tasty or impressive. Got some spicy garlic edamame that honestly looked like it was just tossed in sauce.

Yelp
Has Sushi Kura in Westchester changed management or something? One very professional young man that has been there for quite some time was nowhere to be found. Three young ladies - one working her butt off, the other two just standing around talking just rubbed me the wrong way. I got a 2-Item Bento Box and something just seemed lacking, for one, there was no Teriyaki Sauce for the rice and, two, my Orange Chicken was bare. I usually received wasabi and ginger - a lot of it with my meal. This time I had to ask for the two items and it took way too long. One was prepping for phone orders, the other two were MIA. I have always enjoyed Sushi Kura until now. Golden Phoenix is next door, and Classic Burger is a few doors down. Maybe.....................

Yelp
I've been looking for a sushi place near where I live. I finally found this place, Sushi Kura. They serve a sizable portion of rolls and sushi. The Kura Roll Combo is the best deal by far. I ordered, Spicy Tuna Roll, The Baked Salmon Roll and The Tempura Crunch Roll, this has to be my favorite combo; DELICIOUS! Go check it out. It's located deep in this little shopping area and you might miss it if you aren't looking. There's parking in the small lot. I definitely recommend this spot.

Yelp
Food: 2.5 stars Service: 1 star I honestly felt bad for the guy working here. The place was full and he couldn't seem to keep up. That said, it also seemed like his first day. Basics like bringing small share plates or ginger required asking quite a few times. The place is small, maybe seven tables. It was full, which we thought might be a good sign. Instead it just made things hard. We sat for maybe 10 minutes before being able to order. The seaweed salad was wet. It was sitting in a puddle of green sludge. The golden gate roll, which had salmon and mango, was fine. Not great, not awful. Certainly didn't feel in danger of food poisoning but the rice tasted like it was a day or two old. We never got the ginger or wasabi we asked for, and it took another 10 minutes to get our bill back after giving our card. There are so many better spots in LA, skip this one.

Yelp
I was in the middle for sushi tonight and asked my colleagues if they wanted to join. I tried a place the other night and it was pretty good and we considered going back there but decided to try here instead. I'm so glad we did. It was so much better. I had avocado rolls and I loved how much avocado they had in them. My friend had the California roll and the other had a bowl. Our food was great. They had gluten free soy sauce which made me happy. The service was ok. The place doesn't have much space and it's a little hole in the wall but it was really good food and reasonably priced. I really enjoyed it and will go back.

Yelp
You Guys, This place is amazing!!!! It's a hole in the wall of a gem In Inglewood. If you guys can get here and try it I would make the drive. The food is tasty, the sushi rolls are plump and juicy, packed with flavor. I loved this place. Come out and pamper yourself. It's worth every dollar!!!

Yelp
10 stars from me, one of the best sushi's I ever tried. services is another 10 stars, Alberto is one of the best waiters I've even seen, he was the only server and he managed the delivery people and the tables like Superman, I hope he gets the best tips and a big raise!!! place is very clean, nice Japanese TV with good volume. Sushi makers are very courteous too. This is a very small gem in LA, highly recommend if you are in the area. Gracias Alberto!! El mejor!!

Yelp
This was a quick dinner before a show at SoFi. We ordered way too much food! LOL Most things were delicious, maybe one I wouldn't order again (my friend ordered something with cream cheese in it - not my favorite sushi). The specialty rolls were huge and yummy. The tempura vegetables were a winner, too. Service was good. Parking was a challenge. But we did leave one car there while we went to the show and it was totally fine so that was a bonus!
google avatar

Yelp
It's a cozy little spot with 7 tables, really good sashimi and friendly service. I ordered the chirashi bowl with is an assortment of sashimi on top of rice. I was pleasantly surprised to see the portion size of the sashimi. It was large enough for two bites! There were 5 different kinds of sashimi (3 pieces each) and 2 pieces of shrimp and egg. Needless to say, I'm stuffed. FYI.. This place is hard to see from the street. I discovered it months ago while at the drive thru of "Classic Grill" which is in the same plaza and finally got around to trying it. If you're on the fence, definitely give this place a try!!

Yelp
First Time here, my son wanted sushi so we googled sushi near me and filtered to top rating and this place reviews alone brought us in and I'm so glad we did because the food was tasty and reasonable, sushi combo undeniable and they had a kids meal my 2 year old demolished lol! MUST TRY!!!
google avatar

Lauren T.

Yelp
Food is good. Ive only gotten avocado rolls, gyoza and masubi. My only complaint is that I've placed two pick up orders and received a time to pick up. I get there at the time given and still wait 30 minutes for my food. It's a little annoying when you're hungry. This time I got a sprite for my wait.

Yelp
This was my first time eating sushi in over a year because of the pandemic! I really enjoyed the experience of eating sushi from rotating sushi bars but hey, delivery via Uber eats was not the same but didn't hurt. When my order finally arrived, I was very excited to end my sushi fast. I ordered their 3 item bento box with spicy tuna rolls, crunchy roll, and vegetable and shrimp tempura. The bento box also came with salad, a side of rice and miso soup. 4 stars for the saltiness of the sushi, I struggled to eat it even without the soy sauce. The tempura was bomb and my favorite part of the meal along with the miso soup. Even though the sushi was too salty for me, I will definitely order from them again because they have a bogo deal. I'm not sure if that deal is just on Uber eats or not but I want to take advantage! It doesn't get better than that when it comes to sushi!
google avatar

Patricia H.

Yelp
I have not yet visit the restaurant but, I've done many Ubereat order and I'm very satisfied with there packaging and there food. So worth it when your craving for some sushi.
google avatar

Julie F.

Yelp
I discovered this place during the pandemic. I've never actually been there because I always order delivery. One time I tried to stop there, but the access from the opposite side of the street was difficult so I just stick with delivery. My favorite rolls are the rainbow roll and the Jessica roll. Today they were especially good because the avocado portions were very fresh, generous, and creamy. I couldn't stop eating them.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
The best meal is one with a DEAL!!! Yes, you heard me right! Sushi Kura is currently running a BOGO deal on the UberEats app. **Note that the BOGO deal is applicable to specialty items. Check their Instagram for details I tried 2 of their BOGO deals-- the Baked Salmon sushi roll & the Gyozas. The baked salmon is $15.99 and the 6 piece gyoza was $8.95, The BOGO gave me twice the amount since I walked out with 2 Baked Salmon sushi roll & 12 piece Gyozas. A true bang for my buck! (Note: the prices on the UberEats menu is higher than the mean at restaurant. The restaurant up their prices on the app) The baked salmon remind me of sushi bake, and it was delicious. I have to say it was a bit salty but not too bad for BOGO sushi. The presentation was pretty, and the roll tasted fresh when I received it. The gyoza was alright because when I got it, it wasn't as crispy as I pan it out to be. It was soft and warm. It wasn't absolutely bad but I wouldn't get it again as a delivery! I think the drive to get to me might have soften the crispiness of the gyoza. I would definitely order again from them but not from the BOGO deals. As much as I love my deals, I think their BOGO choices are pretty limited to baked sushi. I would have preferred non saucey sushi or the classic sushi. Other than that, this place is still pretty good and have a decent amount of options from noodles to bento bowls.

Yelp
OMG!!! If you're looking for a sign to try this place... THIS IS YOUR SIGN! I have found my go-to sushi spot and I cannot be more happy! Everything we've ever ordered has been good. I definitely recommend the fried shrimp tempura! They are excellent in service and the prices are not too ridiculous. It is worth a try!
google avatar

Carissa L.

Yelp
Too much mayo on everything. It ruined the flavor of the fish. And for the prices, food was definitely not worth it.
google avatar

Lanell H.

Yelp
So upon me googling sushi I stumbled across this place. Food look great so I decided to worked takeout. I ordered salmon roll and spicy tuna roll this is what I seen once I got home. Very disappointing because I clearly said "Roll"
google avatar

Letty C.

Yelp
Omg we are so glad to have found this gem. It's a little hole in the wall located by an old shopping center, in the corner. We came not expecting much but very hungry after a doctors visit. the food was excelent! we got the $20 especial with spicy tuna, fried salmon and california rolls. I wanted something warm so I ordered a plain undon soup. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. oh! almost forgot, my husband ordered a 2 piece eel sushi, it was like a party in my mouth
google avatar

KC M.

Yelp
Yummy sushi and very nice workers #50 in and out poke is absolutely delicious Very filling. No need for a second roll!
google avatar

Kai and Lauren P.

Yelp
Ordered through Uber eats pick up for some rolls for the family. Order took a lot longer than expected. The quality of the spicy tuna was poor and not at all spicy. Way too much imitation crab in the california roll. Tempura roll was fine. Wouldn't order again. Threw out most of my order.
google avatar

Yvonne C.

Yelp
UberEats delivery review: I'm not saying this place is terrible but it also wasn't the best. I ordered on Friday and I guess they had a special for a few items on the menu b1g1. The baked scallop and gyoza were both a part of the special. The gyoza wasn't my fave. I like pot stickers more than a whole fried dumpling. Let's just say I've had better.
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
This place is great! I had the spicy tonkatsu ramen and a Red Bull roll. Both were amazing. The roll was huge, flavor was awesome. The ramen was Japanese style, spicy with depth of flavor. Slight sweetness with salty presence from the pork broth;I would recommend adding chasu we also had the 3 item bento that came with miso soup. The spicy tuna roll was delicious. Big flavors, lots of fresh chopped tuna. not just some tuna in spicy mayo. The service was amazing!
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Ordered to-go from here with UberEats delivery. The quality of the food was just fine! Ordering was a bit confusing as I thought I had made two orders of the same replacements but it's fine. I ordered sweet shrimp sashimi and the pieces were a lot smaller than i expected. That being said, they give you the fried shrimp head and the sauce to dip it in really stood out. I also ordered the spicy tuna roll and the california roll both topped with fresh salmon. Ordering sushi on Ubereats in this area is typically pricey but this place has a BOGO deal on some rolls. The fish tasted fresh and the portion was just fine. You can't go wrong here!

Kevin P.

Yelp
Cush, Christian, and Daniel always give great service and are so kind to my wife and I. The food is great and the restaurant concept is fun! We go to this Kura specifically once a week though because of Cush, Christian, and Daniel always being awesome to see! The whole staff is better than any of the Kura's I have been to in the US.
google avatar

Jasmine H.

Yelp
I ordered through UberEats. It's decent sushi for the price and the rolls are THICK (thicc? lol). We both had skipped lunch and we're starving so we ordered two rolls each and couldn't finish them. It wasn't the freshest fish and the crab was mixed with just a bit too much mayo but it was good nonetheless. However, both my girlfriend and I bit into something that felt sharp in each of our dragon rolls. Not sure if the eel still had bone left in it or not but it was pretty off-putting. We also ordered baked salmon rolls which we enjoyed. There's a sticker on the container that says you can microwave it for best taste but we chose not to. They provided a decent amount of wasabi, ginger, and soy sauce which I appreciated.
google avatar

GE N.

Yelp
Service and food was fresh and friendly. Can't complain. Odd location at back corner of strip mall. Worst part is finding a parking place and ambience is lacking- but that would raise prices. So I say yes to this.

Troy J.

Yelp
We love Sushi Kura. My favorite is the Kura roll combo with fried salmon roll, baked salmon roll and fried California roll. Be prepared for large portions of great food!
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
This place is a bit tucked away and easily passed by, but it's definitely worth a stop. Before I get to the food, I have to say I really appreciated that we were greeted with hellos from the whole staff immediately upon entry. Couldn't have felt more at home by the time we left when the whole staff again wished us well as we walked out. Our server was also very kind and helpful with the many questions I tend to have whenever it's my first time in a restaurant. My friend and I started our meal with miso soup, and it was not far from perfect. We split four sushi rolls between us, and all were quite satisfying. My favorite was the salmon killer -very flavorful and well balanced.
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
This food was bomb as hell ! 10/10 would recommend! However I asked for extra eel sauce and jalapeños for the flavor !!!! Quick lunch date for only $21 CANT beat it ! Thank you sushi Kura
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
The food is delicious and large portions, the service was real good. Note if it was busier they would probably have a hard time. I will definitely be back

Celia I.

Yelp
Small hidden gem! Rolls are great! Order ahead of time! Parking is a nightmare - but worth it.
google avatar

Kekai B.

Yelp
This place was really yummy! I had the munchies for some sushi, so I hit up Postmates and landed on this spot. I ended up ordering way more than I could handle, which says a lot cuz I can really down some sushi. They don't skimp on size at all and their rolls are pretty chunky. Even my 2 piece salmon sushi had an extra piece salmon sashimi... so, they give nice size portions. I was stuffed after only eating a third of what I ordered. I think this place is pretty unique when it comes to baked or cooked rolls, though. I even ordered a popcorn chicken roll, lol! I know it's not "technically" sushi, but you can never go wrong with fried chicken and rice! And, who doesn't love a sushi place that sells spam musubi, too! So, this place is a winner! Anyways, everything I ordered really hit the spot. And, the best thing was they threw in a couple pieces of Starburst candies in the bag with the hashi and shoyu! That was so unexpected and sweet! It really made my day! Thank you!

Yelp
Cute small place. Staff is super nice. Food is super fresh. Had the edamame, chicken bowl, and tamago. The edamame was standard. The tamago was outstanding. Large piece of egg, slightly sweet, very good. The chicken bowl was fresh with a lot of veggies, large bowl. The udon was a huge bowl and word is it was very good. Word also is the fish is very fresh and tasty.

Marcos E.

Yelp
Great sushi i love to eat from this spot and it has great taste its kinda hidden but worth it

Kenneth W.

Yelp
I like the food here I like the noodles, the shrimp, the tempura style vegetables and you can go in and eat or take out or have it delivered
