Sushi Maki - Coral Gables

I had an amazing dining experience at Sushi Maki! The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and incredibly quick. The reloaded sushi rolls were absolutely delicious, packed with fresh flavors and beautifully presented. To top it off, the donuts for dessert were a perfect sweet treat—light, fluffy, and so yummy! Everything from start to finish was excellent. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great sushi and top-notch service!

While the dine-in sushi is often fresh and well-prepared, the takeout sushi can sometimes lack bold flavors, making it underwhelming however I liked the new packaging they used for sushi rolls. Rolls that are usually flavorful in the restaurant may taste less vibrant when ordered to-go. However, the Kung Pao receive had good seasoning and balance of flavors. The Coral reef roll was very bland. It might be best to dine in or choose specialty rolls with bolder ingredients for take out.

The food was delicious but besides that, Leroy was our server and he was amazing. Hes a bundle of joy and made my experience even better than usual. We will for sure be coming back because of him!

The best sushi in Coral Gables with a full bar and hibachi must come and enjoy. Highly recommend

My order was to go , perfectly prepared and portioned. Had the spicy tuna and shrimp mango roll.

Above average lunch for 4 that was $85 with tip and included 4 orders of bubble tea, 3 poke bowls and an order of dumplings. The dumplings were below average whereas everything else was above. The service was good. Just arrived from the airport and needed a place to eat and this is across the street from our hotel so it was convenient. If in the area worth a try especially if you enjoy poke bowls.

The atmosphere and service are great. The food was good, but it seemed like it was not freshly prepared. The miso soup was tasty. The sushi was not bad. It seemed like the fried rice was old, along with the ginger, and the chicken. The taste was not bad, just lukewarm and the chicken was dry like it had set out or been reheated.

This has become my favorite place for sushi. Great location. Best time to come is during happy hour which is everyday from 5-7. My favorite is the university roll and there ice tea. Service is okay nothing fancy. They are quick which is good. I would definitely recommend. So far all the locations seem good. This location sits on the corner so it has a great view of the street in downtown coral gables.

Did not cut the sushi at all. Does this place normally serve sushi as burritos or is the customer supposed to cut it themselves? Thanks for the mess.

Very bad, the place smells terrible and the sushi was not roll thights enough So bad

We came for Happy Hour 5-7pm every day, they have four different rolls on the HH, so we tried them all. Had a beer each as well and were stuff afterwards, 3 rolls would have been enough between us. A great deal for a great price.

The mushroom sushi is exceptional. The red curry was forgettable and was more like a pot pie in a bowl. Stick with the sushi.

Food is good, linch bentos are great. My favorite is the chicken curry lunch as I get a real bang for ur buck. Some other choices are higher in cost. Its a nice place for lunch

The Gables Sushi Maki is located in a high-traffic area in Downtown Coral Gables. It's usually pretty packed for lunch during the week frequented by other area professionals. Service is usually good, especially during working hours when you have to be in and out relatively quickly. After coming here for years, it saddens me to say this but the times I've ordered sashimi or nigiri at this location, it consistently does not look or taste fresh. Most of the times I've gone have been for lunch, so I've ordered a bento box and it usually tastes good--except when I've ordered raw fish. Unfortunately I just stopped going altogether because it kind of grossed me out that a sushi restaurant does not have fresh fish, and I'm not going to play around with raw fish. Especially when there are other sushi restaurants within blocks of this location that have better sushi. I hope they can improve their quality and then I will consider going back.

Been coming to this place for since it opens , this is an amazing location with amazing food. Everything here is good prices are very reasonable and so is the staff and the service. A1 place !!

Casual sushi place with affordable options. Quite convenient for lunch or dinner. They have some specialty rolls good to try. As for the variety and quality of flavor is just acceptable not very elaborated. The spicy tuna cones were not the best, it felt dry and overloaded with spicy tuna that will leave you having a tuna breath!.

Great casual sushi dining right in the heart of Miracle Mile! Stopped by for a light lunch after seeing a Miyazaki movie at the Gables Art Cinema close by. Refreshing meal on a hot day: a nice, cold bubble tea and some colorful sashimi and rolls. We had the Cali Ocho roll, which had mango in it to bring some juicy flavor. The sashimi I'll say wasn't the freshest sashimi I've maybe ever had in my life but it was plentiful, beautifully plated and reasonably priced. So worth it, I'd say. Wonderful service from LeRoy, who we learned has been working here for nearly 18 years! We were very surprised the location has been around so long since it feels brand new and modern. LeRoy let us know it was recently remodeled - it definitely shows, it could have been built yesterday from how new it feels! Looks like there's a daily happy hour, so will aim to come back to check that out!

I always love coming here after my job here in the gables and coming for my favorite happy hour spot. I always see Leroy working hard and having a great smile. The food here is always hitting the spot and i like how quiet and calm this place is.

This cool Japanese restaurant in the middle and epicenter of the Cuban Diaspora is not only a fabulous discovery, but because of where it is, adds a special twist to sushi: Cuban influences! I had the Cali Ocho roll (named after Calle Ocho in Little Havana): kanikama salad, mango, fried sweet plantains, cream cheese, avocados, eel sauce and chili-lime mayo.... see photo. The unusual combination was delicious! The service was also most exemplary! A smiling gent named Leroy provided great advice with a huge smile!

Sushi Maki always delivers. I like the variety of choices plus the fact that they deliver and I don't have to pick up in my car. Good prices and good food.

We ordered 2 dragon rolls from Sushi Make to-go as a quick snack after lunch. The rolls were generously packed and tasted extremely fresh! The carry out boxes themselves were really nice, coming with small trays and soy sauce packets to keep with the traditional dine-in experience. All together a very great experience when we were originally picking it up out of convenience. Can't wait to be back.

Love eating sushi here! The waiter Leroy is always so nice and very attentive! We've been coming here for years and he always remembers our usual. Recommend the Cali Ocho roll and their poke bowls.

I have been coming to this sushi maki for about 4 years and I have always been greeted and attended by the nicest staff. I typically always order an ALHOA poke bowl and crab wontons. The ALHOA soy poke bowl is very yummy and my best friend and I get it all the time. Sushi maki also has a great happy hour mon-fri 5pm-7pm with $5 bites. If you're looking for a quick cheap dinner definitely go during happy hour.

If you ever want to have the best Sushi, you need try Sushi Maki in Coral Gables. This is where my family and I LOVE to go. We sit at our favorite table, (the high one that's outside). And of course we make sure that our favorite server who we've known for years and consider him like part of the family is there. The one and only LEROY!!! Always greeting us with a huge, and a big smile, so tell me, what can be better than that! Sushi Maki is the only sushi restaurant I ALWAYS look forward too (which says a lot because I am a flight attendant and travel all over the world) I have been coming to this location in the heart of Coral Gables, easily for over 5 years! I love Sushi Maki for many reasons. One of the reasons is because it is so adaptable for any setting. Whether it be a business meeting you need to coordinate, a get together with friends, or dining in alone - I always have a 5 out of 5 experience. In addition, the dishes are always fresh; made to order. Any dish I order is always wonderful and so yummy! My favorite dishes are the University Roll with brown rice, Aji Amarillo Bowl and the Beet with Cauliflower bowl (with a side of amarillo sauce) Also, after having a delicious meal it is always wonderful to walk around on the Mile! Miracle Mile is scenic, has a handful of bakeries, restaurants, lounges, boutiques, bars, and hotels ! I always ask to be seated with LeRoy because he is the BEST, sweet, courteousness and willingness to please in every way is always refreshing !

Every time I choose to go to Sushi Maki I always have a great experience. Wonderful comfort, friendly service with very well-trained staff who make you feel at home, a super pleasant environment, all with excellent value for money. I highly recommend it!

Love the vegan sushi options! And especially for the price! I love all of them, but my favorite is the 24 carrot. But all yummy, nonetheless. They have good service here and boba, my favorite. And their seaweed salad is good too. I recommend.

I've gone to Sushi Maki for many years and I have to say, that there's no better spot for sushi in all of the Gables. They go the extra mile too with ther poke bowls and you can't miss thier desert menu too. Su Wen is an exceptional hostess and always goes above and beyond with her service. Don't miss out on this place if you're in town.

Nice Uber eats deal going on for buy one get one California rolls! Makes a nice quick lunch. The sushi isn't out of this world, but it's what you would expect from a chain sushi restaurant. I got a miso soup too which is always good. Not sure if I would order again unless there's another good deal going on.

This is my team and my favorite spot for in office meeting lunches. The sushi is great, priced good, and quick delivery! Today I changed it up and went for dinner, the inside dining was great the waitress was super sweet and helpful. They are following all guidelines and cleaning between clients. I ordered a Spider, The Fifty, and Dragon roll! It was a delicious trio! And you can't forget to add on the peach mango bubble tea for the perfect kick. Make sure you don't skip dessert, the Thai donuts are finger licking good!!

Yum!! I ordered ahead for pickup and the process was seamless. There is street parking available which can be tricky depending on what time you are picking up but aside from that the process was easy! Just say your name and pick up your order! We had a sushi making class with Sushi Maki so they gave us all the tools we needed even down to the gloves and bamboo wrap! The staff was super friendly and welcoming at pickup as well as during the course. We were able to ask questions and get great tips! Our sushi came out great! We each were able to make 2 rolls and I used extra ingredients I had at home to make salmon and cream cheese rolls. YUM! I can't wait to go back and try some of their other rolls!

Overall for a chain, sushi maki is a good choice. I'm usually hesitant when it comes to that, but they deliver fresh and good quality sushi and it doesn't break the bank. My favorite roll on their menu is the whole food roll. Packed with fresh fish, it definitely is my go to from their.

We've been coming here for many years, and Suwen has nearly always been our waitress. Good food, pleasant staff and Suwen really is the best!

I love Sushi Maki. I usually order via Uber Eats but decided to stop in the other day. They recently made some updates to the store and they look amazing - what an improvement. Great location, staff and delicious fresh food. The young woman working the front were welcoming and friendly. So friendly that the young blond girl practically chased me down the street as I walked out without my boba tea that I accidentally left on the counter - thank you for that.

I've been coming here for 15 years! Always the yummiest sushi and Leroy is my favorite server. I've known him the whole time I've been coming here! Great prices too!

Not good; ordered the Bento box, salmon and rice were cold. If I come back would try sushi rolls instead

This is just incredible, I placed the order, paid and everything went thru, I get a call from Victoria (she said called 3 times) which it was only once, left a message to let me know, order is canceled, I called the restaurant and her excuse was "we had a big order earlier and the delivery person still working on it, I can place it for pick up" Well, miss Victoria, there is a reason why I placed the order for delivery. Food poorly executed. No attention to care, presentation, no condiments for food and sauce for doughnuts. They don't answer the phone. Ricebowl had so much oil at bottom it was not good enough to eat. Food use to be good, we experienced poorly crafted foods. Not going to order from them anymore. Not consistent. Want 100% refund!

We are been coming to the place for many years. We always enjoy the atmosphere, food and prices. Leroy is the best! Ask for him if you have the chance to visit this restaurant.

Great food. Excellent service. In town for the weekend and they were central and didn't have a wait time. Staff was very attentive and knowledgeable when I asked them questions.

Just had a quick lunch, they had me wait 10 minutes despite there was plenty of room of space and staff. The tacos were fishy, not fresh, the worst experience in sushi making I will not come back. I did point this out to the kind manager but he is poorly trained in service, did not apologize for the quality of the food. The food served here I wouldn't even serve it to my cat or dog.

Unimpressed to say the least. I went with my boss who is also a huge sushi lover. My gyoza was served room temperature or colder. Salad looked like the dressing was grated ginger. My boss said most rolls were tasteless, especially the salmon. Most drinks are fountain, they do have home made green tea. On the plus side they do have a small section for vegan and vegetarian rolls. Service was good, didn't really have complaints about that. Would like to the see the overall quality of this restaurant go up since they are in an area that demands a higher food experience. Pricing seemed fair to me. They do offer both inside and outside seating and like most restaurants in this area you will have street parking only as an option or you can try the public parking in front of Books & Books.

One of the best sushi options in the area! I've been to them all and this Sushi Maki consistently ranks as one of my top go-to sushi options. The sushi here is always fresh and the tempura is always crispy. We've had numerous items on the menu and have always been pleased with our orders. Our favorites are the dragon, red dragon, and budda-cane rolls. The service is also so welcoming. Leroy is the best and is always so friendly and attentive and provides great suggestions. Between the food and the service, this place is hard to beat.

There are sushi restaurants everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE! (I think the Mars Rover just sent a photo of one back...) So it's awfully nice to find a Japanese restaurant that stands out above the crowd...especially one open on December 24 for dinner! Hello Sushi Maki, purveyor of fine Japanese foods included sushi, thai dishes, soup, bowls and fried rice. I had Wok Fried Rice made with Tofu as my protein (Vegetarians of the world thank you for this option.) The tcrispy coated tofu was perfectly soft on the inside. There was lots of great flavor in this rice dish. I also ordered Veggie Head Roll (I'm picturing little vegetable guillotines in the kitchen...) Tjos was super good, wrapped in soy paper, and with a mango sauce that created an awesome flavor, a few steps above a typical veggie roll you can get anywhere. Our table shared veggie gyoza (available steamed or fried...we chose steamed). This was yet another great tasting dish...very fresh with lots of flavor. You could tell the dough was made in house and it made the whole thing taste fresh as heck! My wife had the Beet + Cauliflower bowl. She liked the bowl but it came with brown rice instead of the cauliflower rice which she had wanted to try. I think it was a misunderstanding between her and the waiter, who otherwise did a great job getting everyone's order correct (party of 5) without having written anything down. We were all pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. It felt a bit elevated above your typical Japanese style sushi kitchen.

Leroy always gives us superb service! We've been coming here for ever and the food is always excellent the staff always helpful, always a good time!

Great sushi restaurant. Service is great, fast and on point. Loved the sense of urgency of everyone. We started with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and spring rolls. Delicious. Then we had a dragon roll and tuna roll. Both of them were really good. Bathroom was clean but floor was sticky. Oh, Another thing that I didn't like was that all servers were wearing gloves. I think that if you are wearing gloves you should dispose them after cleaning or serving food so who's to know when they change or dispose their gloves.

Okay place. Service was okay, sushi okay but nothing to write home about. There is an authentic sushi place 3/4 block away on side street.

Sushi was pretty mid tbh. While we know they were understaffed maybe they should hire more staff and pay them better so that way they'll actually do their job properly. Will not be returning xoxo. Update: The sushi made me sick....

Great sushi for a very reasonable price! This location is on UMiami campus and is a great place to grab sushi, fried rice, or pad Thai. The pre-made sushi rolls are pretty fresh but my favorite is the fried rice! Even during busy times in the food court they serve everyone quickly

Great take out option. Good portions, great taste, and affordable pricing. The sushi taste fresh and has a good amount of fish to rice. Great gyoza as well.

Terrible. I ordered Uber eats and got the spicy seafood udon. There was no shrimp, no bean sprouts, no cilantro. the broth was extremely watery with zero coconut flavor. Half of the listed ingredients straight up missing. I've had better broth from instant ramen packets. Also got the dragon roll and the shrimp was nothing but breading and it was extremely stale. Look at that cross section. Almost nonexistent shrimp.
