"Tokyo’s legendary sushi-ya has opened its only overseas outpost in the Lion City. Owned and supervised by chef Ryujiro Nakamura, and helmed by his young protégé, Sushi Ryujiro Singapore offers two omakase menus that include otsumami and edomae nigiri sushi. Japanese rice is dressed in a blend of four red vinegars; most ingredients are also shipped from Japan for authenticity. With only 14 counter seats, reservations are essential." - Michelin Inspector

"The omakase set menu begins with medium-fatty tuna, a single piece of sushi that epitomises the pride of the sushi artisan. It testifies to the passion with which he prepares his tuna, celebrates the strong bond of trust between him and his wholesaler, encapsulates his gratitude for human relationships and embodies the teachings of his mentor. Items such as kappamaki, a sushi roll stuffed with lashings of cucumber, and rolled omelette in hot dashi attest to character as well as skill. The bustle of the cooks’ activity behind the counter brings satisfaction to the soul as well as the belly." - Michelin Inspector

Very nice lunch. The staffs were very well trained, it’s almost like they predict every move you make, and react accordingly. The chef was also very accommodative. The food was good, our favourites were the uni and the medium fat tuna.

I had a perfect dinning experience with sous chef. It’s obvious that he put much effort on each dish. Every dish I had matches perfectly. I’m looking forward to seeing what sous chef can bring me next time. I will definitely visit this restaurant again!!

An incredible Michelin star omakase experience in a laid back atmosphere. Every dish is well thought out and perfectly executed by the chef while friendly staff keep your glass full.

Had a great time here as a foreigner passing through. Great interactions with the sous chef and other patrons despite a) not speaking Japanese b) arriving five minutes too late. The nigiri rice has noticeable vinegar elements even to a foreigner; great for my personal taste

Their eel was the best eel I ever had. However the sequence is little bit different from other sushiya(The course started with chutoro nigiri) Not sure if it's good or not tho. Rest of the course was ok but they use citrus(yuzu and lime) in almost every pieces so it didn't highlight any sushi eventually. Also there was a small piece of plastic vinyl in my miso soup. I almost didn't see it because of the scallion. The chef simply said sorry about it and gave me a new miso soup. I know it happens sometimes but I expected better reaction from them since I payed around 33000JPY for single lunch. The serving tempo is too slow compare to what you get each time. My stomach could digest what I had in the beginning during the course. I wasn't full at all after all. The sushi wasn't bad but I'm sure that you can find better but cheaper one

An exceptional experience overall, the food and service were outstanding. I highly recommend visiting, but be sure to book in advance. The chef speaks a little English, it would’ve been nice if I could understand more.

Sushi master classes here, perfect technique on sushi. Tier 1 food for midrange price. The main counter has 10 seats but I do not think they look after all customers well enough, some services are slow and have been making mistake from middle of the course to extras. The use of tableware is very impressive, just beautifully presented with design.
