"Saryu, a name that symbolises the precious passing of time, is set behind a discreet wooden door that leads into a lounge-cum-cave. The minimalist dining area sports a traditional omakase counter made out of Hinoki wood. Chef Seiji Sudo meticulously crafts a 15-course omakase menu based on seafood sourced directly from Tokyo’s Toyosu Fish Market. With a mere 6 seats available daily (or 8 for private groups), reservations are essential." - Michelin Inspector

I had a truly wonderful experience at Sushi Saryu. Everything was amazing from the cute glassware and dishes to the beautifully presented courses. The chef’s food was truly exceptional; I could feel his effort and passion in every dish, each one served with a perfect final touch. I was completely satisfied with my dinner and can’t wait to come back again soon! 🍣✨

One of the best omakase ive had in bangkok. The staff is friendly, chef is very professional, and food is awesome. They only serve 6 seatings per day.

Sushi Saryu is one of my favorite omakase restaurants in Bangkok. With just 8 seats, the restaurant offers an intimate experience and is willing to accommodate private bookings for groups of 6 or more. They only open for one seating per day, so I highly recommend reserving in advance. The chef is not only friendly but also meticulous, and the staff pays great attention to detail. The ingredients are exceptionally fresh, as the chef sources seasonal selections directly from Japan’s fish markets.

The granddaddy of omakase in Bangkok has finally been conquered after months of anticipation. Patrons familiar with Sushi Saryu will recognize its renowned reputation for delivering some of the finest omakase in the city. Well, ladies and gents, suffice it to say that Chef Sudo does deliver on the hype. Every bite is meticulously crafted by him alone and the quality speaks for itself. Freshness from premium fish like nodoguro, kinmedai, and abalone was an absolute delight. He also excels with hybrid pieces like the snow crab and anko fish mix which packs a powerful punch. Now my reason for knocking off a star. While the flavors were there the overall symphony did not leave a lasting impression. My dinner party and I were left feeling somewhat unfulfilled and there was not a single bite that gave us that rare omakase ohooo ahaaa moment, though I will refrain from naming those special places that have. Also the corkage charge for a big magnum? Understandable but absolutely insane. There should be a policy that allows an opening fee waiver if you purchase a bottle from the shop. Just something to think about.

Tonight was a wonderful night of dinner with my husband on our anniversary night. I have spent many happy moments eating at Sushi Saryu. All the ingredients for sushi here are fresh. Personally, I liked Nodogudo. I even had to ask for one more bite. I also liked the uniqueness of the restaurant with only one chef serving the food, which made me understand the attention to detail that the chef gave me. There are also staff, they explain about the food in each dish what is chef be service us and all staff have very good service. It made me realize the delicacy of eating sushi to a whole level.

I recently dined at Sushi Saryu with good friends of mine and it was a fantastic omakase experience from start to finish. The intimate setting made it feel like I was having a private culinary journey through Japan, right here in Bangkok The ambiance was elegant yet cozy, with soft lighting that perfectly set the mood for an exquisite meal. Food & Presentation: Each dish was a work of art, skillfully crafted by the chef right before my eyes. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, with the perfect balance of texture and flavor. Highlights included the melt-in-your-mouth otoro and the delicate uni, which had a rich, creamy taste that lingered beautifully. Every course was thoughtfully plated, making each piece almost too beautiful to eat. Service: The chef and staff were attentive and friendly, guiding us through each dish’s origins and preparation. I appreciated their passion and knowledge, as it added depth to the overall experience. The pacing of the meal was spot on, allowing just enough time to savor each bite before moving on to the next delightful course. Atmosphere: The small, intimate seating arrangement allowed for a closer connection with the chef and the artistry behind each dish. It felt like a very personal and engaging dining experience. The background music was subtle, letting the focus remain on the food and the dining experience itself. Value: While omakase can be a bit of a splurge, I felt that sushi saryu offered excellent value for the quality and craftsmanship of the meal. It’s definitely worth treating yourself to if you’re a fan of sushi and Japanese cuisine. Overall: If you’re looking for an authentic omakase experience where each bite transports you to Japan, I highly recommend here I’ll definitely be back for another visit!
