Sushi Taku Rotary STR is a super fun and unique sushi experience! It gets really busy, so I highly recommend joining the waitlist on Yelp before heading over—but be aware that they won’t seat you until your whole party is present. The highlight here is definitely the sushi delivery system! You can grab sushi from the conveyor belt, have it delivered to your table via a mini-train, or even be served by a singing robot. If you don’t want to rely on the conveyor belt, you can also order directly from a tablet at your table, which is really convenient. The sushi itself is fresh and tasty, and the staff is friendly and helpful—especially if you need assistance with the robots. Just a heads-up: they do encourage you to go for the All You Can Eat option, and the robots add to the overall noise level since they sing as they move around. Overall, a fun and interactive spot for sushi lovers!

A special shoutout to our waitress,OI,who went above and beyond to make our dining experience exceptional. She was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. Her positive attitude and genuine hospitality made us feel welcome and valued as customers. I highly recommend Sushi Taku Rotary anyone looking for great food and outstanding service. I’ll definitely be coming back soon! Let me know if you’d like any modifications or a different tone!

Google
10/10 food. Server was very kind and welcoming. I believe it’s an excellent value for the money. They have a train that delivers you sushi. Who doesn’t love a cool train? Would recommend eating again!

Google
If you're looking for a great all-you-can-eat sushi spot, this place is a must-visit! The food is fresh and delicious. There's a lot of variety on the menu. The food comes out super fast, so you're never left waiting long for your next dish. I’ll definitely be coming back again – highly recommend it!

Google
We came for dinner right when the place was starting to get busy and were seated promptly upon arrival. For the price, the variety offered was fantastic (probably the best I have seen in Chicago) and the food was solid. The fish/rice ratio was generous. The fish tasted fresh and had a nice texture. We absolutely loved the small train running along the rail above the belt and the robot cat cart delivering food to the tables. We ended the meal sharing a green tea cheesecake slice, which was better than expected. Service was quick, professional, and warm.

Google
I am so glad we found this place online! We arrived right before the dinner rush at 5pm and there was no wait, but then the place filled up quickly . My family did the all you can eat. Bella the Robot delivering food and the sushi train was a big hit with my 5 year old. Everything looks so modern and clean. We enjoyed all the dishes as well, everything tasted fresh. Definitely recommend!

Google
You cannot beat the value, quality and variety here. You can either order fresh or take from the conveyor belt (which is also fresh and SO FUN!) This is such a fun atmosphere. I will be back again and again and bring more friends next time!

Google
It was a very enjoyable dinning experience The fish are very fresh and tasty!!! Will definitely come back again The service was great they checking on us to make sure everything is good. Love this sushi taku rotary

Yelp
This is so far my favorite rotary sushi restaurant. The decor is really light and modern. The all you can eat deal is a great value. The options range beyond just sushi; there are salads, ramen, rolls, and other sides included in the deal. The sushi is super fresh and I'm frankly impressed that they're able to offer it at such a great price. The service is also super prompt and they're more than happy to explain the menu and how the all you can eat works.

Yelp
This is a popular sushi rotary restaurant with all you can eat option. Although they do allow ordering a la carte while the rest of your group ordering AYCE. Toddlers under 3 eat for free if the parents order AYCE. One complaint is that they don't have utensils for kids so my daughter has to eat with hands... They have an extensive menu ranging from sushi and, sashimi to ramen, poke, etc. My favorites are the cold fish appetizers (limit 2 for each kind per person). The quality of their nigiri is average. Not a fan of the seared items. For desserts, they have creme brulee, match cheese cake, mochi and ice cream. Our favorite was the ice cream - it has a refreshing mango and beach flavor. They do limit mochi and ice cream to 1 per person. Street parking is available nearby. Come before 1 to avoid lines.

Yelp
Liked the small portions and that they had specialty rolls on the conveyor belt. Carpaccio was great - especially the salmon Fast service - was seated right away on a Thursday night Bathroom wasn't clean and the hand dryer wasn't working - individual bathrooms (1 men's, 2 women's, and 1 family). One women's bathroom was out of order. Parking can be difficult to find around this area. This restaurant is on the more expensive side of AYCE for the convenience of a conveyor belt and more menu items compared to the other Sushi Taku locations.

Yelp
Excellent concept, and it lives up to the reputation of the other Sushi Takus. STR is basically sushi taku but cooler. It's AYCE (a la carte is probably not worth it). You can grab dishes from the rotary or place orders with the staff. The ordered food will come by either staff, robot, or a bullet train that traverses the room on top of the rotary track. It's nice, because you can place orders and grab food from the rotary while you're waiting. Sushi quality was good as always. Salmon is great. Tuna was only average. As for appetizers, karaage was delicious. Takoyaki was really good as well. The restaurant is super clean and modern. Very cool!

Kelly L.

Yelp
was able to get seated at the counter at 6pm on a friday for 2 within five minutes! STR has the same good quality, but with more options as compared to their non rotary locations. i especially loved the carpaccio, seared nigiri, and the choice of four desserts! the best thing is that majority of the specialty rolls come out as 4 pieces which makes it easier to try different ones with just two people if you like maki. service was especially attentive and nice for a busy friday night which was great. some downsides would be that the restaurant can be get pretty loud with a full house and that this place is on the pricier end. I paid after tip and tax around $50 pp. it was a great novelty first try, but i expect to go to the other places for the better value.

Zoe D.

Yelp
Food: much better than the other locations Service: good server Ambiance: I think I have to add more photos later for the great vibe

Lana T.

Yelp
This sushi rotary had a sushi conveyor belt that had a variety of sushi options, rolls and even desserts. It was busy on a Friday night but we got seated right away. The service was great and they had tiny robots delivering our foods as well.

Anthony O.

Yelp
I'm not a big sushi buffet person. This place is special. The quality of the sushi is amazing. The service is great. And what you can't get on the rotary you can order off the menu and a little robot or train will bring to you. I will definitely continue to come here.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Fresh sushi. Okay grade. You aren't coming here for the quality so much as the content. The servers are quick and the hosts are friendly.

Hillary M.

Yelp
Service is incredible. Food is so good. The gadgets that serve your food are fun. And the all you can eat includes amazing stuff!!! Our fave sushi spot.

Randy W.

Yelp
Easy to join the Yelp line and our table was ready as we got out of our Uber :) Very cool decor and the sushi was good. I never have high expectations at a conveyor sushi place but pleasantly surprised. AYCE is worth it here as the quality supports that option. Bella the bot came to the table too often but other than that, we enjoyed our experience.

Shu O.

Yelp
Amazing AYCE options (they also have a made-to-order menu with rice bowls, noodles, desserts etc if you prefer hot options). The sashimi is fresh and high-quality, and the options are diverse. The servers are friendly as well.

Katie L.

Yelp
Fantastic experience - it's worth it! TLDR -$36.99 for dinner and it's AYCE (including what's on the menu, but excluding the drinks). -BYOB until they get their liquor license. -sushi was fresh and they include nigiri as apart of this deal (shoutout to salmon roe which typically is expensive) -inside is super clean and they play fun upbeat music You can join the waitlist on Yelp, because it does get busy. We went right around 5 on a Saturday, and by 5:30 there was already a line. Highly recommend this place!

Crystal Z.

Yelp
Ambiance - super busy, casual dining spot with friends or a date, noise level can get pretty loud, sushi conveyor belt runs all around the restaurant Service - attentive servers, always checking to see how we're doing and if we need more food Food - sushi to rice ratio was amazing for the nigiri, the creme brulee was a little sweet, highly recommend the salmon carpaccio

Ai H.

Yelp
From quality to service, I think I just found my new go to spot in Chicago for sushi. I put myself on the Yelp waitlist check in since I came on a Friday. The wait was about 2 hours so my friends and I did a bit of bar hopping beforehand. The service was great, as someone was always attending to us. The quality of the sushi was fresh and delicious. The cooked food was alright, like the edamame had been cooked for too long. The seating area is about 4 per person. They have a good amount of variety but the rice portions are quite a lot. Either way, still very happy and would come again I would also like to thank our server, Montira. She constantly ensure that our order was coming and helped us throughout our time there. She went above and beyond, while always putting on a smile and being so sweet to us.

Allison T.

Yelp
We are a fan of Sushi Taku so decided to try rotary! Currently it is BYOB. There's a la carte or AYCE available. We went with the AYCE route. Price: $29.99 adult lunch $36.99 adult dinner; age 3-6 dinner $14.99; age 7-10 dinner $18.99 Rotary has certain items and for those not on rotary, you can place order on the menu. The "stars" on the menu indicates available in rotary. Environment: Rotary includes with some rolls, salads, and nigiri pieces. Once you walk in, it is bright & busy. There's a lot going on for those sensitive to stimulation. There's the rotary, robot service making noise, and trains that go by delivering food to the tables. It was quite loud and busy with lots of movement. Service: Server was attentive. We were able to place orders easily. Robot, train, or a person can deliver the food. Food: same quality as Sushi Taku AYCE; there're more items on the menu than other Taku location. Rice ratio was a bit smaller compared to Division or Milwaukee location. Pro tip: before you dine, check Yelp waitlist!

Jay B.

Yelp
The food was hands down delicious! The sushi, nigiri, caccioppo, appetizers, rice toppings and ramen are absolutely delicious! We were all delighted with what we ate and truly enjoyed every bit of it. The inside of the restaurant was equally amazing! Very clean (probably because we ate at opening) the restrooms are clean, the lighting and dolphin display on the ceiling was very well thought of.. We were seated immediately, so I suggest come in at lunch time on a weekday to avoid the long lines that I've read some people wrote. I think there are about 2-4 nigiri and meal that are dinner only as well as the dessert. So that's really not a deal breaker at least for us. The only thing we did not experience is the rotating service and the train.. we were seated on the inner side of the restaurant where only few are seats are open. It would be a 20-25 minutes wait if we wanted to sit on the area where the rotating tray is open. Oh well, we'll do that next time. There were only 2 servers working, plus the receptionist who also delivers the food from the robot (yes, a robot) once in a while when the 2 others are busy. The 2 servers were very polite when getting the orders, so we didn't hesitate on a 20% tip. Lastly, this is a street parking area, so we were fortunate to have an open spot nearby since we took our car going here. We didn't know what to expect so we brought our car with us. We are definitely coming back here the next time we visit Chicago and we crave for sushi and nigiri. This place is highly recommended!

Yinyin C.

Yelp
I recently dined at Sushi Taku Rotary and had a fantastic experience. The food was excellent, with the appetizers standing out--the spider fry, fried oyster, and calamari had a light batter that was perfect. The service was impressively fast; our water glasses were constantly filled, and our food arrived quickly. While there was a bit of a wait--about 25 minutes on a Sunday night around 5 o'clock--it was well worth it. Overall, it was a great dining experience, and I would definitely come back again. Highly recommend!

Sherry H.

Yelp
Foods are very fresh and the size really good for one bite. The "all you can eat " has many selections. Drinks will be extra . Spider shrimps tempura roll is good. This is a nice decent place for friends or family. If you like the new place , you won't be disappointed here. Expected the 30 mints waiting time.

Mulan C.

Yelp
Ambiance: 5/5 Very neat layout and design. Service: 5/5 The servers were very attentive and got orders out promptly. Food: 4/5 For an AYCE rotary, everything was very fresh, including the rice (very important)! Some of our favorites included the salmon nigiris, seared white tuna, and the Sal-fornia roll. We recommend skipping the masago though lol. For dessert we got the crème brûlée. It was thick, jiggly, and had a very pleasant butterscotch flavor despite its appearance. Overall, this was a fun experience, and we are glad that for the most part, the quality matches the regular Sushi Taku.

Stacey W.

Yelp
Came in on a weeknight around 5pm and it was not that busy at all. By the end of the evening the place was full. The service was good, you can order off the menu as well as get off the conveyor belt if you are doing the AYCE. The conveyor belt is a fun thing for the kids to do. The options and choices for food are a lot to choose from as well. The sushi and food is comparable to the other Sushi Taku locations. The desserts here, do seem a bit different. If you have any space left they are quite good. The peach mango Gelato and creme Brule are both good.

Nick M.

Yelp
This my 3rd time here with my family. The concept is nice serving sushi on a belt however the belt is rather empty most of the time. The quality is there however I still prefer their location on Division street.

Anastasiya K.

Yelp
Sushi Taku is one of my favorite restaurants in the city.. so when I knew they were opening up a premium AYCE I knew I had to try it. It lived up to the expectations. The smaller sushi plates were fantastic for trying more rolls. The conveyer belt was great for grabbing more rolls and nigiri. We even tried the ramen which is new to the AYCE sushi style, and it was a favorite. Finally, the desert blew me away, specifically the green tea cheesecake. It was very fun to try it out because it addition to the conveyer belt, there was a robot bringing food and a train bringing specialty ordered rolls. Will be returning!!

Monty W.

Yelp
Awesome experience! The same great Sushi Taku and the rotary fun. The staff is really nice and I really enjoyed my time dining. We arrived at 5pm Wednesday and it was really easy to walk in and grab a set of tables together. Since we had a larger group of 11, we split into three tables along the same row. They have a variety of sushi and salads spinning around the rotary but you could still order off the menu with a server who has an ipad. It's the ayce without having to wait. And best part is that I'm not super stuffed because my brother decided to try a few rolls he didn't have before!!! Will definitely be back and it's my favorite location of sushi taku now.

Ranillo R.

Yelp
Have visited Sushi Taku Rotary twice since it has open and I am very impressed with the idea and concept. All your favorite sushi Taku rolls are here along with the nigiri on a conveyor belt. It's a great way since it's AYCE, but don't have to worry about ordering too much or too little for the entire group if everyone have different appetites. My favorite is the seared salmon nigiri. They also have ramen and even carpaccio, that is made to order. The layout is great with ample seating and even a place to place your bag or jackets under your seat. You don't need a reservation here, but you can make one if you prefer. Definitely worth a visit for AYCE sushi fans! Great addition by Sushi Taku. Service and staff was great on both visits!

Alice H.

Yelp
Super attentive service (green tea refilled a half dozen times) & fresh sushi make this rotary sushi bar a win win! The AYCE lunch menu includes a plethora of hot and cold items to choose from. Some delivered by robot, others by a cute train and of course you grab what you want off the conveyer. Do wish that at 29.99 per person for lunch, it came with complimentary hot tea. And unlike some similar spots, dessert is excluded from the AYCE lunch price. I most enjoyed the seared salmon and the various carpaccios. My friend liked the sashimi salad and fried oysters. Go on a week day for lunch - zero wait. Will be back again!

Linda Y.

Yelp
I love this place more than Sushi Taku itself. I definitely feel like everything tasted better. It's also a pretty large space for conveyor belt sushi and i love that it's AYCE! There are also items on the handheld menu that you can order if it's not on the conveyer belt. The staff were also helpful and friendly. I'm looking forward to coming back!

Laurita M.

Yelp
The sushi rolls here were very good and fresh! The prices were affordable and they have a wide variety of options on their menu! The only thing to note is that the conveyer belt sushi is only available with the all you can eat option. It was slightly misleading.

Jocelyn H.

Yelp
Come hungry because this place has a lot to offer! This is the only rotary AYCE sushi restaurant that I know of and the experience was great. I came on a Friday night and only had to wait about 20 minutes (for a party of 2) to be seated. Most of the sushi on the conveyer belt are typical nigiri and basic rolls but you can order off the menu and it will be delivered to you by a robot or a train. Everything is very cute--from the interior design to the train delivery. The staff are also accommodating and are helpful when answering any questions. I wish they brought some of their other rolls from Sushi Taku restaurants to this place as I felt like most of the signature rolls were repetitive.

Jisha J.

Yelp
Overall this was a fun experience. I think the offerings on the actual rotary part are very basic. Rolls and a couple types of nigiri but the menu for all you can eat is great. There's different options than the other Sushi Taku locations, especially for dessert. I don't think things like the ramen are worth eating and filling up on, but the sushi options were all good. The wait was very long, but we had put our name on the wait list about 30 minutes earlier so it was about an hour or so waiting at the restaurant. The decor is beautiful and service was great. Everyone was very friendly and for the most part the food came out quick.

Jenny T.

Yelp
This new Sushi Taku location is an actual rotary, featuring many of the same items you'll find at their other locations. We really enjoyed trying the rolls here because the portions are smaller. You can also order appetizers, additional nigiri, rolls, and desserts. The interior is spacious and modern, and the staff is super helpful, always checking to see if we needed anything. Be sure to arrive before the dinner rush, or you may have to wait.

Mayo M.

Yelp
This place is awesome! It's an AYCE rotary sushi concept by the Sushi Taku crew. This space is a brand new with a cool futuristic vibe . For those who've never tried rotary sushi, the food rotates around the restaurant and if you see something you like you just take it. It's t's $36 and you can also order unlimited anything on the menu... rolls are delicious...nigiri is fresh, they also offer ramen, poke, appetizers, etc. Note if you order something off the menu it's delivered by a cool robot. We've been twice and love everything about it!

Jennyfer C.

Yelp
Decent prices with decent food quality and service! I normally go to Sushi Rotary Plus for conveyor belt sushi, but since I've tried this Sushi Taku location twice since it's opening. I must say I prefer this place more with not only being more affordable given that's its AYCE. The quality is honestly even better in my opinion. Looking forward to also bringing in friends and family to try this location soon!

Tzaddik B.

Yelp
Delicious, and the most fun I've had at dinner in a while. Like no wait times, and no judgement as we stuffed our faces. 10/10

Tiffany R.

Yelp
Fun new AYCE rotary sushi place in Lincoln Park. And the best part is that everything on the menu (excluding drinks) is included in the AYCE! So, it's not only the stuff on the conveyor belt that's included - it also includes made to order appetizers, carpaccio, rolls, nigiri, donburi, poke, ramen, dessert, etc! And there is a cute robot and bullet train that might even bring out your made to order items. I thought the quality was really good for rotary sushi, so it was a good value. I can't even remember everything we tried, but we left absolutely stuffed! Some memorable items we had were the salmon carpaccio, spicy scallop roll, seared salmon nigiri, mango tango roll, eel nigiri, and scallop nigiri. It's also BYOB with no corkage fee for now while they're waiting on their liquor license. Check it out!

Tracy Y.

Yelp
We had the best time eating here. We went during the week and were seated right away. It does get busy as the evening goes on. AYCE deal is great! If you order something that's not on the belt, a robot delivers your food!

Jessy K.

Yelp
Loved the options available. It's incredible that all food options in the menu were available for the all you can eat except the drinks, which is more than fine. There's not only sushi, but also ramen, appetizers, carpaccio, desserts, and more. The appetizers are plentiful and unique. Some menu items have limits, such as the 3 different types of carpaccio had a 1 per person limit (which was more than enough for me and my partner since we ordered all 3, twice). Don't sleep on the desserts either, I love a good sweet to break up a whole lot of savory. I think this is probably the best all you can eat sushi experience I've had in Chicago. We got there about 15 mins after they opened for dinner and we were sat right away, though the restaurant was over half full by the time we arrived. Not too long after, all tables were taken. By the time we left, there was a long waiting list of people on the tablet. The restaurant is well lit and very clean. The walls were nicely decorated and themed. The staff was super attentive the whole time and everything we ordered from the menu came very quickly. After eating, I'd say we definitely got our moneys worth.

Jinhee K.

Yelp
The nice thing about this place is that you get everything you can order at sushi taku but without the burden of having to eat a full order of a roll. The portions here per order are about half the size of an order at a regular sushi taku which is really nice because you can try all the different roles without feeling like you're going to overstuff yourself. I would say the sushi is a little bit more fresh at regular sushi taku but here you get additional items on the menu like Ramen and poke bowls, which are very good. I think it's worth trying at least once I probably would prefer to go to the other sushi taku locations because it is a bit more pricey here but it's pretty fun.

Chen Y.

Yelp
Hands down the best ayce sushi in Chicago, period. The fish to rice ratio is incomparable. Even rice bowls and ramen is included. For 29.99 for lunch it's a steal

Joy L.

Yelp
This place has potential to be better, but they definitely need to work out a few kinks. I don't recommend going within 3 hours of closing time. We still had to wait about 45 mins and it was overall pretty busy on a Wednesday night. Only half of the restaurant is operating the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt also didn't have a lot of options, but they do have a menu where you can order the same stuff that would be on the conveyor belt in addition to other menu items. Although, that defeats the purpose of the experience. While our server was kind/attentive and the ambiance was great, the food itself was mid at best. One of the sushi plates had hair on it and the other still had a bone embedded in the fish. On the positive side, the salmon carpaccio and salted caramel gelato were actually pretty good. Can't say much for the other dishes. Unfortunately this particular experience was not worth the wait, nor the price, and I likely would not go back.

Laura M.

Yelp
Talk about a delightful, unique amd fun experience! Such a great value too! Step into the future with this tech-forward spot. We put our name in online in advance so we avoided the wait. It was so fun to be able to pull whatever we wanted off the conveyer belt and also order off the menu at a set all you can eat price. I was surprised the charged extra for hot tea, but this still was a wonderful value overall and we left stuffed. We were careful not to overindulge knowing that we'd be charged extra for anything we didn't finish. When we ordered items off the menu they were delivered by a cat robot, how delightful. While we were there the robot delivered a birthday cake to a table while playing happy birthday music, how adorable! We got to try easy more rolls than a typical sushi spot since most servings were 2 to 4 bites. Atmosphere is modern, bright and cheery and noise level was moderate to low, it was easy to havee a conversation. I can't wait to go back, this was such a fun dining experience!!

Lisa S.

Yelp
Fun place! Went here to celebrate a friends birthday and they had a robot cat deliver desert and sing happy birthday!!! So yummy and a good all you can eat place to go:) def will be coming back. Also the service was super nice all the waiters were super sweet. And lots of good vibes all around.

Shemin L.

Yelp
really clean and great staff! i like how the portions are small so you can try more rolls. i wish the website menu showed that certain items are only available for dinner ayce such as the dessert & certain nigiri

Jess H.

Yelp
Sushi Taku Rotary is a great spot for an all-you-can-eat sushi dinner! For $36.99, the quality is excellent, and I recommend adding yourself to the Yelp waitlist ahead of time--it gets busy. We came as a party of six on a Saturday night and waited about an hour, but it was worth it. Having been fans of the original Sushi Taku location, we were excited to try the rotary option. The sushi was fresh, with a perfect rice-to-fish ratio (not too much rice). You can grab items from the conveyor belt or order specialty dishes directly from the menu. Highly recommend this place for both the food and experience!

Danielle J.

Yelp
I don't always write reviews but I felt inclined. I have been at STR sushi for over an hour and a half and I love this place so much I had to take a break from sushi to write this review. I'm still here. If I could describe everything I wanted in a restaurant it would be this. AYCE sushi rotary, BYOB and amazing quality. Amazing service. There is a rly cute robot named Bella that brought us sushi. There was also a super cute choo choo train that brought us sushi. I can't stop eating the scallop and seared white salmon sushi. It's part of the reason I haven't left yet. It's so good. Love this place.

Bryan B.

Yelp
The sushi was all super fresh and tasty, I liked the new items compared to the other sushi taku I've been to. Service was fantastic, very quick and attentive. Someone checked on us at the end to see how everything was which is always a nice touch. They have a robo server named Bella that played music through the restaurant. Very fun place!

Maya M.

Yelp
Food was very good!! Not a huge variety, but pretty big for AYCE Fast service and nice staff!

Marcin S.

Yelp
The takoyaki was lacking, but I enjoyed the sushi. There's also a dolphin crashing through the ceiling. I spoke to management about this but they just stared blankly at me. I would visit again with friends!

Perla T.

Yelp
The staff was amazing! We were celebrating my daughter's birthday and when we got our dessert the little robot came in singing a happy bday song making it that more special! Will definitely come back again! All you can eat sushi plus other things in their menu is amazing! They do offer kid prices depending on kids age.
