First time ordering to go. So much food for the price. Three rolls w cran rangoon and soup was $15. Hibachi steak lunch w crab rangoon and salad was $12.25. Dumplings was $8. Ready on time. Soup was spicy and my favorite.

Had an incredible lunch with the family at Sushi UNI. We love the spicy crab salad, and all the options for their sushi rolls especially during their lunch options. 3 rolls, a salad or soup, and 2 crab rangoons for $13 is a great deal! You won't go away hungry and will definitely want to come back again! Just wished I lived a little closer, but definitely worth the drive every time!

We had an amazing experience at Sushi Uni! We were fortunate to sit right at the sushi bar, which made the visit even more special. Being able to chat with the chefs and ask for their top recommendations turned our meal into a full experience and every suggestion was spot on. The sushi was incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. You can truly taste the quality in each bite. We also enjoyed some delicious Japanese beer, which paired perfectly with the meal and added to the authentic vibe. The service was great, the atmosphere inviting, and the attention to detail really sets this place apart. If you love sushi and want the full experience, definitely try to get a seat at the bar. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite spots for lunch! Service is always good, they have good lunch specials that include two fresh crab Rangoon and a soup or salad, and one of the best dragon rolls that I’ve had. I highly recommend trying this place out for lunch!

Came here on a whim, been eyeing this place for a while, heard a lot of good things about it. They have the best tempura and sushi I’ve ever had in Kansas City. The food is super fresh here, super friendly and attentive service. 😊 pssst They also have plenty of room for sushi bar experience and great sake!

Sushi Uni is our favorite sushi restaurant. We are seated nearly immediately every time we get there. The service is better than many restaurants I’ve been to, the staff is always friendly and happy to help. We get our food very quickly and the appetizers and rolls are amazing. 10/10 recommend and I don’t usually leave reviews.

This hidden little GEM seems to be a fan favorite for the locals! We stopped by while in Lenexa for dinner and this place did not disappoint! We were promptly greeted and sat at a cozy table, our waitress was warm and quick with service. We tried gyoza, fried rice and sushi; everything was delicious and fresh! Many other tables around us enjoyed the several offerings from their large menu. I'm looking forward to returning again to try more delicious dishes from this popular place! Highly recommend 👌

Great energy with the staff. Amazing fresh selections of just about anything that fits your taste. Presentation is on point. From steaks to sushi it will not disappoint. Sushi UNI has somewhat of a cult following in the KC metro. It's nestled into an unassuming strip mall in Lenexa, and is well known for offering spectacular lunch deals. Over a year ago I tried it out for the first time but it was so packed at lunch I couldn't get a table and had a just okay experience. I'm glad I came back and had a chance to really take it all in. Knowing it fills up for weekday lunches I met my sister here for an early lunch around 11:15 and we were able to get right in and snag a seat. It should be noted that even on a Monday this place filled up and by the time we left it was at capacity with a wait forming. Their website is a bit misleading as when I checked this week it still had the old lunch prices of around $10 for two rolls, soup or salad, and two crab rangoons. I was in awe of this deal so when I saw that the prices had bumped up to $12 I was not surprised - I still think $12 is a great deal in today's economy for TWO sushi rolls, soup, and two crab rangoon. You also get tons of rolls to choose from so it's a really fun lunch experience. When our food came out it was a lot so I think next time I might even go for the one roll lunch, but it was such a great meal and even after tip was good value. The servers were nice, the hot and sour soup was honestly some of the best I've ever had, and I loved the sushi. I'll be back!

Food - A solid contender for Best Sushi in town. Service - Good. Ambiance - It's a sushi place with tables and a 6 seat sushi bar. Haven't been here in what seems like years, glad to be back, ordered my "not-so-usual". Spicy Crab Salad, 87th roll and UNI roll. SC Salad is a very generous portion, and mighty tasty, especially with some low-sodium soy sauce. Plenty of crab stick, seaweed, cucumber, and some very mini-croutons aka crunch. Both rolls are delish, each containing their own unique flavor and texture. They also have a wide variety of sake, beer and wine to maybe throughly pump up your bill. Luckily even as of 9/25, their prices are still pretty reasonable, compared to others in KC

Ratings don't lie, this is the best sushi I've had in KC and I think I have to say one of the best I've ever had. They also have excellent soups and crab rangoon. Broad menu, very attentive staff, and most importantly, fresh and flavorful sushi. My only critique is they might need some heat warnings on some of the rolls because their fresh jalapeños were very spicy. Looked very popular with to go orders as they had a line of bags with people coming in as we were being seated.

This place is popular for a reason, that's for sure. We have only been here once since there doesn't seem to be a way to make a reservation and the place is always crowded. We got lucky the other day since we wanted an early dinner and we managed to snag the last available take before the big rush. Our server was friendly and prompt. The food portions were very generous. I am a big fan of lemon rolls that were popular in California, but hard to find here. Sushi Uni has both a salmon and a tuna options. I'd love to come back and try the tuna.

This place never disappoints. We usually come in for dinner, but Friday for lunch. They have a great lunch menu, which offers high value for not just sushi, but even hibachi style entrees. My favorite role, KC roll, was not part of the lunch special, so I had to obviously order that on the side as it is a staple every visit. The servers are very friendly. It gets pretty busy, so immediate seating might not be guaranteed.

Awesome place to get some sashimi and sushi. Add this place to your list of your favorites now. The fresh cut of fish are reasonable big for the price and worth it. Can't go wrong with the platter so you can get a bit of everything. It's good to share with your love one so you can experience the delicious together. Love coming here and oh the salads here are good as well too. Can't go wrong with anything here. Will come back.

Huge sushi roll menu with tons of creative options ... like the KC Chiefs themed roll with mango (yellow) and red raspberry sauce drizzle (try it, trust me!). Be sure to look closely because many full rolls have half-roll versions (like the Dinosaur vs. Dino), which makes it easy to sample more. Fresh, tasty, and fun spot to mix and match rolls. Casual dining, fast, friendly service.

The lunch special can be pretty darned good! Finding a parking spot and a table is not easy 11:30-12:30, but wait until 12:45 and the place opens up again. The service is extremely fast and attentive. I have eaten there about five times and it was always a good experience.

We love Sushi UNI! The food, the staff, the quick service. It's a very pleasent atmosphere and the best Sushi we've found in the KC Metro area. I give it 4.5 plates!

Outstanding sushi! We went here with some friends off of their recommendation (their favorite sushi in KC) and it certainly lived up to expectations. Their menu is quite robust in terms of sushi options but they also have delicious soups, salads, and appetizers. I enjoyed the gyoza but my favorite was the stuffed mushrooms. Great flavor. I highly enjoyed the dragon roll as it was perfect for my preferences. We all left full and happy. The service was quite good. Make sure you have a good amount of time, however. We went at 6:00p on a Monday and it was a 20-30 minute wait. We were not bothered by this but I just want to give prospective diners a heads up.

We've been patrons of Sushi Uni since the very beginning . I would say hands down this place is 5 stars and #1 in our opinion The owners run a great business The quality of sushi and all items are consistently excellent in quality The owners are friendly , knowledgeable and always attentive as is staff! ! It is clear that it is important to the owners that staff treats customers with courtesy, efficiency and respect as we've experienced this every single dining experience. I have had a LOT of sushi... When the description says generous sashimi, they mean it! This is some of the most amazing, melt in your mouth pieces of sashimi I've ever had. Everything from price to presentation is unbelievable. I also really loved their Miso Soup and house salad with ginger dressing. I got to sit at the sushi bar where I couldn't help but appreciate their artistry. I will be back here plenty in the near future!!

Went here for the first time and this is now instantly one of my favorite sushi places in KC. We got the sushi and sashimi platter and it's plentiful. The cuts of fish are nice and large and they really do give you a lot for 40 bucks. If you want to try a little bit of everything this is a good value. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. Also got the miso soup and crab Rangoons and thoroughly enjoyed those as well. It was very busy when we went but we still got seated pretty quickly and service was prompt. Will definitely come back soon.

Stopped inside for a lunch special and ordered their three roll lunch special; this includes a soup/salad and crab Rangoon. I chose a delicious miso soup and crab rangoons. I highly recommend their Daikon Maki roll; this is consistently one of my favorites and always yummy! For an establishment with a great lunch special, friendly staff, and welcoming environment , I highly recommend this place! Will be returning.

I loved the sashimi so much. It was cold and had so much flavor. My husband said it tasted freezer burnt, which I didn't notice, but wanted to point that out. He couldn't finish his because he was so disgusted by that, and he loves sashimi too. The sushi was great as well. The seaweed salad is generously portioned for a great price. Good flavor too. The only thing we disliked was the lo mein-- it was quite unlike other places that serve it and was incredibly sweet. Service was okay but they sat us at such a small table, our order couldn't fit. Will be back for the sashimi!

Best Sushi in Johnson County KS! Service can be inconsistent but generally friendly and responsive. A very small space with everyone sitting close! Typically there is a wait so plan for that! It's our go to for top Sushi!

Great food and service! The is a quaint spot that has a very extension menu for all sushi pallets. Beyond having to make a choice on which rolls to get, the service was fairly quick and timing with appetizers moving to entrees and on to dessert. Family friendly but also a great date night destination.

I didn't get any pictures of my meal, but I've been to Sushi Uni twice and both times I was very impressed with the quality and freshness of the sushi, the quick service and the prices. The crab Rangoon was phenomenal too. It's always super busy so it's a little bit of a tight space, but it's clearly a very efficient and popular business because everyone loves it.

Sushi Uni was a pleasant experience and very cute date spot where the food is good and the vibes are pleasant. Food: My friend & I split crab rangoons which were average. I probably wouldn't get them again just because it was meh. We each got two rolls. I got the candy cane roll which had a surprisingly hefty amount of fish and a fried crab roll which was huge. Both were delicious. They also gave us a crab salad on the house which was delicious with a hint of spice that was not overwhelming. Ambiance: More upbeat. Seating is a bit closer to each other and the tables were small so getting food on it was a bit of a tetris but it was doable. I could hear the people next to me and what they were talking about but I love eavesdropping so I didn't care. Not a fine dining experience but definitely a nice dining experience. Service: Our waiter was attentive and very nice.

Sushi Uni is a gem. Amazing fresh fish in land locked KC. We get sushi all over the country and compare it to our Sushi Uni Bar of Excellence. Dine in for an intimate neighborhood experience. Carryout or delivery for the best at home sushi you'll find. And don't be surprised when a free spicy seafood salad arrives with your meal. It's a house specialty. They call us by name when we walk in the door. If you wanna be the 21st century "Norm" at a sushi restaurant, Sushi Uni is your place.

I have never had PHATter pieces of sashimi in my sushi eating life! Sushi Uni always delivers the best sushi! Their crab salad is pretty tasty as well. I did not care much for the seafood udon we ordered but the shrimp tempura is awesome! It can get pretty busy in here but worth the wait. Of note, We went recently and the smells emanating from the bathrooms / plumbing were pretty bad.. not sure if this is a OP problem in general, I don't remember it smelling like this in the past...

oh my gosh 1000/10 recommend. they have been out fave in KC for several years now. i do not know how they handle the mad rush they experience daily, but this place is always packed. people are willing to wait 20-45min to get in. mind you, they have often gotten a smaller group of us seated at a shorter time frame if you are not picky about where you want to sit. their apps, sushis, and handrolls are top notch. ingredients always taste fresh and proportioned (carb:protein:sauce) very well. the service is efficient but always friendly. i highly recommend their seaweed salad and literally any sushi/nigiri that sounds good to you because it is! all the apps, entrees and a-la-carte orders have never disappointed.

I almost don't want to tell anyone about this place because it's so good I feel like I want to keep It my secret sushi place! (But that would be selfish of me ;)....It's a little hard to see tucked in a small business strip mall. I have never had a better sushi roll in Kansas City with prices so affordable I could eat here all the time! Recommend ordering the Jayhawk roll (delish deep fried roll) and don't forget egg drop soup.. I even took some soup home for lunch tomorrow! Service was perfect and I loved how everyone there worked as a team to make sure everyone were taken care of.

Clean, fast, love the sushi counter..not fancy but it is good, and consistent and has great lunch deals. Love the spicy octopus roll and the daikon roll is delicious! Good combo deals and sake. AMAZING Lunch Special: 2 Rangoons & a soup or salad served with all options: 1 roll for $9.95, 2 rolls for $11.95, 3 rolls for $13.95. This is the perfect lunch spot if you are on a time crunch! We went between work meetings & made it back to the office just in time. The service is quick & attentive. They even prepare the sushi in front of you at the sushi bar. Ingredients were fresh and everything was delicious. I'd highly recommend checking out Sushi Uni!

We had a great time. The sushi was fresh and the appetizers/soup were nice to tide us over because there was a busy crowd with lots of orders ahead of us. The service was professional and efficient. The space is relatively cozy, but we got a table in a corner so we had a little extra elbow room. They also seem to have a lot of takeout orders if that's more your style.

(6/3/24) Great place to have quality sushi. I rate 5 stars for the quality of the sushi and the staff. Atmosphere may be more of 3-4 as well as size. No reservations accepted however get to know the staff and ownership and you rarely wait the expected time. Many options available (including other than sushi). Have been many times and rarely do they not have items listed in menu, and/or the quality less than par. Excellent date place although not overly romantic. Family friendly. Will continue to enjoy and definitely recommended amongst KC places...

Sushi UNI is one of the best sushi places in KC/Overland Park. Metro. Food is consistently delicious. Recently my father came with me and said it was the best hot and sour he ever had. Service is great, feels like all the servers will help you. It is considerably busy all the time. I aim for opening when I want sushi. Only downfall, which I didn't take a star,is the floors are always slippery if you walk to the bathroom. Be careful.

Sushi UNI has plentiful sushi options, and at great value. I visited at lunch time with a friend and was pleasantly surprised at home much sushi I could order at great value via the lunch combo :) I enjoyed the meal, service was great, and the location itself is cozy. Be sure to arrive early as on a busy weekend, you may need to wait for a table - this is a popular place!

Honestly, I never thought I would come back and give this place a one star review, but it was more than earned. I have eaten at Sushi Uni more times than I count. Sometimes, multiple times per week for years. I recently moved back to the area and it was one of the first locations I looked up when I arrived a few months ago, and I introduced a friend to the place. However, she was not fan, since within a few hours of eating here, she was violently ill. I figured it was a one time thing, or maybe something else since I felt fine. I've gotten sushi from here a few times since then and everything was ok....until now. I recently stopped in at kind of an off time of day and was the only person in the restaurant. They seated me in a middle table in the room with the sushi chefs- out in the middle of the room (I felt on display), to eat. The entire staff hung out by the registers, so not only was I treated to an audience of about 7 strangers watching me take every bite, I was also sat under an air conditioning vent that was blowing freezing cold air on me to the point of goosebumps. But don't worry, I wasn't there long. Since they were watching my every move, I was rushed through my meal and paid around $30 for an experience that lasted less than 10 minutes. Oh, and a few hours after, I started feeling terrible and was violently ill the entire night. I am absolutely disgusted and disheartened at how this place is going now. I won't be back and would encourage others to look elsewhere as well.

My husband got take- out from Sushi UNi for my birthday a few nights ago and the sushi was delicious! It held up really well for take- out sushi and was really yummy still as leftovers the next day. We will definitely be coming back here again and are very thankful to have found a good sushi spot since we are newer to Kansas. Creative rolls, lots of yummy and fresh fish used, fresh veggies used.

I don't like leaving bad reviews for local restaurants, especially the ones that I've been enjoying eating at for years. The food has always been great--try the hot and sour soup and their affordable lunch sushi rolls. However, my last visit to Sushi Uni left me no choice but to stop going there. My friends and I visited during their lunch hours and ordered 4 rolls, an appetizer, and soup. We waited for 45+ mins and they've only served us soups. Parties that arrived after us were getting served sushi rolls and their main dishes. I asked the server for the status of our food order and we were blamed for being "impatient," saying other tables waited longer and that they were short-staffed. The owner finally brought out our food, but no apology for the delay or the rude service. Instead, I watched 10+ pickup orders go out while we sat there waiting. I've realized that they prioritize to-go orders over dine-in customers. It's one thing for a server to be rude, but for the owner to act like nothing happened in such a situation? That's where I draw the line. Sushi Uni is the only place that provides high-quality sushi at a relatively low price. Knowing that I'll have no other option than to get their sushi whenever I'm craving it, however, will just order pickup order instead.

Absolute benchmark spot for fresh sushi prepared by artists who excel at their craft. Really enjoyed the spicy crab salad which is a signature item I guess. Super crisp and tasty with a special added crunch from lots of tempura bits throughout. Perfectly light and fresh dressing. Loved sitting at the bar and watching the team of chefs practice their magic. Loved the uni sushi which is a rare treat being so far from any ocean. Very attentive and cordial service at reasonable prices. An all around A+.

Such a clutch spot. I have been coming for years. Their lunch specials, their shrimp fried rice, their sushi rolls, their crab ragoons, the list can go on but everything is tasty! Fair pricing as well. I have come for dine in (casual setting, chill relaxed) and i have also gotten to go often. Def try it out if you're nearby!!

First visit to Sushi Uni. Small, and once it filled up, it was pretty congested. I ordered the Sashimi Appetizer Plate for starters while my daughter had the Veg. Tempura and Udon. I added one order each of Sake, Tako and Uni Sashimi. The Appetizer Plate had enough food for 2 to enjoy. It had 3 slices of Tuna, Salmon and Octopus each. The sashimi were very fresh, well cut and pretty thick. The Salmon was especially good! The tempura was awesome! Warm, crispy and clean smelling. We had two young ladies taking care of us. As one moved on, the other was there. All in all, it was super satisfying. The food was certainly very good and so was the service. Sushi Uni could very well be my go-to the next time I'm in KC.

On the hunt for a new sushi joint in southwest KC, we found many positive reviews of Sushi UNI, and decided to "roll" in and give it a try! Yet again, my Yelp brethren have not let me down! UNI is UNO! We visited on a very busy Saturday evening, and the place was already packed at 5:00. While some people may balk when a place is super busy, those of us with a keen eye realize that's a great sign that something is going right! The dining room is a bit tight, but maneuverable. Of note: the sushi bar is centrally located for most to see, as it should be! We had on-par service; considering how busy it was, it might even qualify for "good", if a bit rushed. The fish, however, was TOP NOTCH! At our other sushi stops, wifey and I normally share four rolls, five if desperately hungry. We went with five here, and paid the price dearly! The maki rolls here are B E A S T L Y in size!!! And, all our selections were extremely good! Sushi-wise, this easily jumps into my #2 spot in the metro, but it has become our go-to, because #1's service is atrocious now, and #3's prices just took out a Starlink satellite. Yup, that high. We love sushi UNI! They have great sushi at an ever better price. All the appetizers here are great and they have the best lo mein, I always get it spicy. We ordered a sushi platter for a birthday celebration and it turned out great!

Great service good prices and excellent food! Some of my now favorite sushi in Kansas City! Easily recommend the dragon roll and jayhawk roll as probably my favorites! A must visit for a sushi lover in the area!

Sushi Uni is such a stalwart of the west 87th street area. They have quite the menu of different rolls, not all are winners but I admire the creative attempts to make new creations. The majority however are delicious, ingredients taste very fresh and and of high quality. The rice roll is so important and they really nail that aspect of the sushi roll. Price is exceptionally affordable which gives you the opportunity to try an extra roll or two without hurting your wallet. The setting and atmosphere are more service oriented. Make no mistake this place is designed for maximum table space. But the food is absolutely worth being in a busier setting. You don't have to take my word for it, Sushi Uni has a perpetual wait time for a reason! Put your name in and go over to Murphys Corner next door for a drink while you wait. Enjoy!

Sushi Uni is an unmatched combination of price and quality in the KC Metro. On top of having some of the best sushi in the area (including downtown), the lunch special is an absolute steal at two rolls for $10.95, including soup/salad and two crab rangoons. The only downside is that this place is *always* super busy at lunch, to the point where it's almost not feasible to drop by for lunch on a work day. If you want to come with a group of friends, I would recommend emailing the business a reservation request. I've done this before and you may still have to wait 10-15 minutes for a table, but you're guaranteed a table in a reasonable span of time rather than gambling. Will the sushi blow your mind? Probably not. But it's tasty and affordable, and I'm here for that. If you want to try the lunch special rolls, I would recommend the Spicy Crunch Tuna Roll, the 87th Street Roll, and the Spicy Salmon Roll. If you want to try one of the specialty rolls, I'd recommend the Aspen Roll.

This is one of my go to Sushi spots around KC. Their miso soup is my favorite in the area and they have a giant selection of rolls! (The KC chief roll is my favorite) Service is always attentive and nice! The building is kinda small and they are pretty popular so you might have to wait for a table, but definitely worth it!

Ordered the vegetable tempura as an appetizer, expecting the usual 3-5 small assorted pieces of vegetable tempura, NOPE...a heaping plate full of vegetable tempura, cooked just right! The Service was great, friendly and quick. The ambiance was nice as well.

We tried Sushi UNI last year and I may have forgot to leave a review. Everything we tried was fantastic, and I really liked the seaweed salad, and I usually don't like that anywhere! The service was fantastic! The place is small and gets busy fast, but they're very accommodating. The crispy calamari, spider roll, and the rock n roll are at the top of my list, and my husband really enjoyed the Snow White roll. This place is great for a quiet date or to come with friends.

I've been here two times now, and each time has been amazing. The staff are all attentive, kind, and polite! The food is amazing, and I really recommend the Unagi Maki. It has a wonderful, melt-in-your-mouth texture with a savoury eel sauce on top. The store was very quiet and intimate, especially if you sit at the sushi bar. Highly recommend if you're in the area. I'd go more often if I lived closer :').

This was easily the best sushi experience we have had in KC. We went for an early dinner on a Friday. The place was packed, the staff were hustling, and the fish was real fresh. We will definitely be back.
