I came across this place by accident and walked in on their planned Omakase seating (they had a space and welcomed me).
Let me set the scene, this is a tiny place with I believe only eight seats at most. You sit around the chef's counter and the sushi chefs put on a tremendous 15 plus course sushi and sashimi tasting menu. It was nothing short of spectacular and in line with what I have experienced in Asia. You can tell that the chefs are trained in the formal sushi chef Style and the food is prepared right before your eyes with surgical precision. I would suggest you secure a reservation (do not do what I did and just walk in lol). You clearly need to make reservations, and trust me it is worth it. This is the kind of rare fine and Gem that Anthony Bourdain would have loved on his travels, the setting isn't fancy rather it is functional and cool (utilizing the small space), it has amazing food, is not pretentious, and the dedicated team is on point with respect to service and presentation. As I left my seating (full and in awe of the cool place I had found), there was another group of people patiently waiting outside who were only admitted to the restaurant once everyone else from the previous seating had left.
Bottom line, it was truly an amazing experience and I cannot recommend it highly enough, in fact if you love really good sushi with amazing fresh fish prepared in the traditional style, this is the place to go and you will feel you have found one of those places that has yet to be discovered. Also, the serving and presentation style is as attentive as it is beautiful. Omakase is $R500+pp plus saki and/or wine tasting, but there is also an a la carte option if you prefer.
