A hidden gem on the Upper West Side. I had walked past a few times without noticing it since they don’t have a big sign outside yet, but I finally gave it a try. So glad I did. The omakase was fantastic. Every piece was fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and Chef Peter explained each one with care. Didn’t feel rushed at all. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. It’s a cozy, intimate spot, so definitely make a reservation. Highly recommend if you’re looking for high-quality sushi in a relaxed setting.

One of the best hidden gems in Hells Kitchen. Sushi Yolo is an omakase experience like no other — an intimate venue, top of the line creative dishes that rotate seasonally, and most importantly the most welcoming team. It’s become the go-to spot for my family and friends to celebrate milestones in our lives, and it’s always so lovely to have everyone in the venue just as excited to share in our joys. Will definitely be going back!

If you are looking for a well curated omakase course with sashimi, great cuts of fish and some kitchen items AND a host that makes it an unforgettable experience sushi YOLO delivers ! The ambience is cozy, unpretentious and the chef makes changes for preferences - the focus is completely on making it a great dining experience. Our favorite pieces were sea perch, smoked king salmon, the chutoro/otoro combo and the clam but all 14 pieces in all were great. We will surely come back for more 👍

Google
We randomly snagged a reservation at this omakase spot, and it exceeded expectations. Though we had a slight delay getting seated, the host gave us a bottle of sake on the house, which was a nice gesture. The 10-course menu was on the pricier side, but the quality of every piece was excellent. Service was outstanding, and both the owner and chef went out of their way to make the experience special — even surprising us with a few of our favorite pieces at the end.

Google
Had such an amazing dining experience at Sushi YOLO the fish’s as so fresh and each of the omakase courses were carefully selected and served. The staff was so kind and knowledgeable, Alex the owner was so gracious to tell us a little bit about the background of the restaurant and even offered us some free sake in our celebration of life. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend.

Google
Beautiful and friendly atmosphere. The omakase (fixed course) selection is excellent and delicious. Service is outstanding. Pricey but the quality and the atmosphere is, in my opinion, worth it!

Google
The quality of the food is great, and the service is superB as well. Already recommended it to some omakase-lover friends and will be back myself. The place could use some more work on their "atmosphere" or decoration, but the place is clean and nice, just very simple. Definitely in the top 5 of my Omakase experience.

Google
I would like you to know that giving 5 stars to this sushi restaurant doesn't give it justice. It is not on the same scale, they might well be 6 stars or 15. The sushi is so good that is an experience I just recommend to make if you can. Trust me, it is a once in a lifetime meal, it is that good, it is a walk to the mountaintop. In addition, the service is also great and the people are very friendly, kind, and accommodating. As I said, 5+ stars, it is really the level above.

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday at Sushi Yolo with my friends for a fantastic girls' night out, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and friendly service that made our night special. The sushi was absolutely delicious--each piece was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We indulged in a variety of rolls, sashimi, and nigiri, and every bite was a delight. The menu offered a great range of options, and everything we tried exceeded our expectations. One of the best parts about Sushi Yolo is that it's BYOB, which allowed us to bring our favorite wines and bubbly to celebrate. They also serve alcohol, so there's something for everyone. The atmosphere was perfect for our girls' night, with a lively yet relaxed vibe that made it easy to enjoy our evening. The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, Sushi Yolo made my birthday celebration unforgettable, and I can't recommend it enough. Five stars all the way!

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. It's a casual but fun atmosphere. The food was really simple but good. The quality of the fish shined through and it wasn't over dressed or overly complicated. They allowed the fish to just shine through. The sake was well priced and pretty good. The manager/ owner was always available asking how things were. They ran pretty much on time in terms of the seating if not slightly over. We will definitely be going back! Uni was outstanding

Yelp
We sat right in front of the chef in this tiny little omakase spot and what a wonderful journey it was. From the very first second everything was on rails. They recommended a sake which we absolutely loved. They put course after course in front of us that just blew away our expectations. Highlights for me: the toro caviar, the toro hand roll, the yolo special, and believe it or not - the black sesame ice cream for dessert. They pair it with a hot brown rice tea that for some reason compliments the ice cream in a crazy/beautiful way. This place is such a goddamn slam dunk it's crazy that it exists and I've only just now found it. For $109/pp you'd be hard pressed to find a better option in NYC. For the record my wife and I have been to many of the top omakase spots in the city. We've spent $400+ per person at Oya, Yasuda, Nokazawa and so many more. Those places are spectacular for sure - but are they 4x better? Absolutely not. Find an excuse to eat here and make a reservation asap. yolo!

Yelp
What a fantastic meal. Both decadent and delicate. Prefix meal served bar side. 16 courses over, and an amazing experience throughout. Sushi chef was fantastic. Friendly, atrentive and explained each course. Couple that with a nice bottle of wine and the evening was perfect. Venue is small so recommend a reservation. I suspect they only turn the tables once or twice an evening due to the length of the meal. But definitely worth it.

Yelp
This omakase spot does a well thought out 14 course that includes everything - from apps to nigiri to desserts at an affordable price. What I really enjoyed about Sushi Yolo compared to other omakase spots in this price range is how it's nicely paced with your entire meal spanning 1.5 hours (other spots are usually churning out guests within 1 hour). As I said before, all the dishes were so well thought out and the pieces that were presented were so beautiful. My absolute favorite was their steamed egg topped with ikura and uni - it was so warm, smooth, and custard-y with the ikura and uni providing the perfect umami balance. As expected, service was amazing and Alex, the host, was so thoughtful to offer me tea throughout my meal as I was the only one in my party who was not partaking in sake. Highly recommend for a date night or a fun outing with a group of friends.

Yelp
The ingredients ay Sushi Yolo are extremely high quality. No frills, no overly decorative toppings, classic nigiri and fresh fish. While all the nigiri were super fresh, I docked one point for: -Appetizers: somehow, the tuna in the appetizer did not taste as fresh and the chawanmushi was only mediocre. -Rice: the rice was a huge letdown. It tasted extremely bland and a bit like brown rice --not vinegar-y enough and super thick. My favorite pieces included: the uni, cherry smoked salmon (super unique!), double layered toro, and of course the toro handroll. It was also a bit expensive for the price considering the quantity of food, but I guess that is the price you pay for high quality fish.
google avatar

Hajir S.

Yelp
I love omakases, and I love BYOB. This being both is just such a treat. for $109 you leave very full with some solid apps, a good number of nigiri, and a hand roll. None of the pieces are boring, and there is everything from untouched to smoked included. I've come on multiple occasions and they've remembered us each time, the vibe is much more chill than some of the counterparts downtown. Honestly I would keep coming here if given the option - it's a really great spot. The staff is friendly, the prices are right, and the BYOB is even better. Also the dessert is just fantastic - it's not like you can choose to get less, but trust me you'll appreciate it.

Yelp
My friend had a birthday meal here last week. The staff was very friendly and stored the cake we brought until the end of the meal. There is no cake cutting fee. Every bite was so fresh and flavorful- highlight that day was the Japanese mackerel as the chef told us it had just come in that day from Japan. I like that the course had some appetizers and a dessert instead of all nigiri. It is also byob and they gave us buckets of ice to keep our sake bottles cold. We also purchased a yuzu sake from their drink menu and it was dangerously good. We poured the chef a couple of shots of sake and he drank with us :) great atmosphere Would definitely return

Yelp
It is hard to put into words how incredible this restaurant is. I went to the French Laundry last year, and this experience was reminiscent of that because it really feels like you are being welcomed into a home-style, unfussy environment where true hospitality and absolutely delicious and creative food is front and center. I think it will soon be impossible to get a reservation here, and I cannot recommend it more highly. Better than Nobu.

Yelp
It's been a while since I tried a new omakase restaurant and I'm glad this was my first in 2024. For $109, you get 3 appetizers, 9 nigiri pieces, one hand roll, and a dessert. Everything was delicious but the standouts were the smoke-infused salmon, squid with rainbow sesame, and the fried fish appetizer (it was fried to perfection - not too much batter and extremely crunchy). The portion size was pretty generous (uni was served twice, the hand roll was stuffed with tuna and the otoro nigiri was double layered). This place definitely has the potential to be a 5/5 but a few reasons why I docked a point: 1. There was only one sushi chef serving 9 people so the wait time between each piece was longer than other places I've been to. This probably wouldn't have bothered me if I wasn't starving. 2. The sashimi platter was blah and could be replaced with something else. I'm surprised they didn't make this dish more interesting given the creativity of some other dishes. 3. The toro nigiri was marinated with soy sauce. WHYYY Was the fish not fresh and they tried to mask it?

Yelp
We were here for my wife's birthday. The way the staff made it a great night was exceptional. The food was fantastic, especially for the price of this location. The ambience was nice but pretty basic. Would return with anyone not needing fancy treatment. It was really a great time.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
It was okay at best but unimpressed by the quality of the fish and the preparation. Comparable to similar spots serving the same thing. Some pieces were still cold and not room temperature. Could be that I'm just tired of eating this mid range quality of sushi. People were super nice though.

Yelp
Food(4 stars): I really enjoyed the omakase experience here! This place is a little more causal than other omakase restaurants. The staff is very sweet and made the experience so enjoyable! Favorites: Golden snapper Mackerel Scallop Salmon Roe Uni from Maine Double Toro Tuna hand roll Black sesame ice cream

Yelp
Tried this new omakase spot and was not disappointed! The service is friendly and entertaining, and the fish tasted fresh. Sushi Yolo definitely adds creativity to their omakase menu, which many unique flavor combinations. High recommend!

Yelp
I've been back to Sushi Yolo and given the excellent experience across hospitality and food quality I have to update my review. The meal here is delicious with good variety and value that will satisfy veterans and newcomers to omakase alike. Do not hesitate to try this great spot.

Yelp
Came with a group of friends on a Friday night, we had a large group so 9:30 pm was the only time slot that was available. We were seated slightly late, since the previous group had a birthday they were celebrating. The restaurant is very small, seating ~10 people. Two chefs work in unison on the same dishes, each serving the food for their respective halves of the table. It's a very intimate setting, like if you had a hibachi chef in a private room, but much more elegant. I had never been to omakase, and for $110 I definately expected really good quality, but I've never had fish this good before. Each piece of fish was so high quality and the flavor was outstanding. The chefs were very friendly and answered all the questions we had about the food/their experiences. The restaurant is BYOB and we brought a couple bottles. We arrived slightly early and the host offered to take the bottles and store them in their fridge. When we began eating, the server brought our bottles on ice and poured rounds for us. No corkage fee! I don't have any frame of reference since this is my first omakase, but this blows away any sushi/sashimi I've ever had before and is in the top meals I've ever had. In terms of quality for price, I'd say this was worth it and I'll keep this place in the back of my mind the next time a special occasion comes up.

Yelp
Strong 4 stars. Rez for 3 with the family. They have 90 minute seatings. Wasn't exactly rushed out but there isn't much time to linger especially if you add on bites. Space is clean and well lit. Sparsely decorated. Room was a bit warm. Ventilation might be weak so you'll know when they're grilling or smoking the next plate. Nice touches in the bathroom like a shelf over the TP preventing stray drops, good napkins and a waste bin close by the door. Food is solid if unspectacular. I appreciate the relative restraint but if you're looking for the current NY style of heavily garnished bites, you might be a little disappointed. Still, the quality is good enough, even if I find some of the garnishes out of place or overpowering (pickled jalapeño, fried leeks). I actually preferred the chutoro (marinated in soy I believe) over the double toro caviar bite that might have been too cold. They have nodoguro, my favorite bite, but it's a bit of a flop here. I couldn't figure out what the flaw was but I didn't get the richness or sweetness I normally expect. Disappointing, but take it with a grain of salt because my expectations are sky high for this fish. Maybe it's too early in the season. So what makes them stand out? Hospitality. Alex, the host/owner, works the room like it's a personal dinner party. Drinks and conversation. He heard my sister's concern that the yuzu sake we were ordering would be too sweet (it wasn't) so he offered us tastes before we committed. And even after we ordered the bottle, he still brought me a pour of something else. Very nice touch. Honestly, the hospitality is what makes this place special. It should go without saying but the service was top notch. Highly recommended, especially if you're in the area. Seems like a good place to be a regular. I feel bad not giving them 5 stars given the obvious passion and enthusiasm from the chefs and host, but if they shore up a few more of the bites then they're golden.

Yelp
Besides the price point, this place doesn't deliver anything else. Yes, it is 109 bucks, but you'll know why. The place looks like it used to be a bar that's been converted. You can see all the unkempt equipment and plugs and whatever behind the sushi bar. There are some things seriously wrong with the practices they have here: 1. they pre slice the fish (netas) and keep them together, including the anago. Anago is precooked, so to keep it with the raw netas is definitely not standard practice, nor is it hygienic. 2. The sauce for some of the dishes is much too thick and is closer to Chinese soy based flavors than Japanese 3. The shari (rice) is kept in one pot. That's fine, but they return the rice they've been using to make sushi into the pot if there is some leftover. They then reuse the rice. This is highly dangerous and obviously something they shouldn't do. They use raw fish to make the sushi so think about some of the rice the chef touched with raw fish contminated hands going back into a pot that is kept warm; yes, that's how bacteria proliferate. 4. The drink menu is limited, and the host goes around drinking with the guests. He is friendly for sure, but omakase experience is not driven by such forced festivity at most establishments. Yes, it is more affordable, but it should still be kept more reserved so the guests can focus on the food. After all, it's affordable but still more than 300 bucks for two; sometimes, you just want to be left alone with your dinner guest to enjoy the food, not to take shots and make smalltalk. Obviously, I won't go back. Nothing they do is truly authentic nor worth the time.

Yelp
Sushi Yolo just opened near us and we have been so excited to go here and the hype was met and exceeded. Alex (one of the owners) is so friendly and made the dining experience more like meeting up with friends. After the meal, i really felt like we were BFFs. It is a small place seating about 10 people but there is plenty if space. Intimate but not uncomfortable. We made friends with others sitting next to us. The food was great and fresh and made right in front of us. It truly was dinner AND a show because presentation was beautiful. For everything we got, it was so reasonably priced . We will definitely go back! Also, it is BYOB, which we didn't realize until we got there. There are many liquor stores in the area if you forget, you can grab something for yourself and to share with your new friends.

Yelp
This was a really fun experience! A little different from the usual omakase where they're usually just fish courses. There was a chawanmushi, cooked crispy fish, and sesame ice cream that were all delicious. The fish was really fresh, the chefs were really friendly, and they brought out sake and cheesecake for my friends birthday
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for omakase! Good deal and friendly staff/chefs. I enjoyed my dining experience here sitting at the bar! I would recommend making reservations ahead of time via Resy.

Yelp
Sushi Yolo is one of my favorite omakase's in NYC if not my favorite. It's an extremely affordable experience at 109 dollars and the quality of both the sushi and the service is quite high. The sushi itself is on par with more expensive omakase's in the city. They do 4 seatings a night here so it shouldn't be too bad to get a reservation. It's also a BYOB which makes it a little more fun. I look forward to returning here next time I want a nice sushi experience in the city.

Yelp
Went to Sushi Yolo based off of a friend's recommendation for a bachelorette dinner. I've had a lot of sushi in NJ, CA, MD, and Philly but this location hands down is probably the best tasting sushi I've ever had! There were two sushi chefs in the restaurant who attended around 6-7 customers, our chef primarily attended our Bach group which had 6 people. They gave us a complimentary glass of sake for celebrating the bride to be which was nice. The restaurant checks in with any food allergies which was nice. The first course was a selection of sashimi, followed by the nigiri sushi curated by the chef. My favorite was the cherry wood smoked salmon which had a wonderful wood flavor and the double layer toro. The dessert course came with a black sesame ice cream and toasted green tea which complemented itself very well. Would definitely come back here again with friends in town when finding a solid omakase place!

Yelp
High quality fish and best vibes, recommend smoking king salmon and double toro and caviar top.

Yelp
I love this new place in the neighborhood and I'm so glad it's here! - Ambience: cute little place where you get to see the chefs make the sushi in front of you. Very interactive and fun, also at some point you end up talking to the guests near by - Service: really attentive and even gave me a little cake as we celebrated my birthday here. The server was very helpful and the chefs were engaging us in conversation and the whole experience was interactive. They were doing so much with the food to make it meticulously in front of you! - Food: absolutely delicious and packed with so many flavors! Loved the scallops, the salmon, unni, tuna and really everything! Everything was made with so much attention and care. - Value: the price point for an Omakase of this quality in the city I think was really good, also it was byob with a wine shop right next door! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Experience: 5/5 Came here on a date and had an amazing experience. Sushi Yolo is quite new to the neighborhood, but in a great location along with amazing food, I hope they are here to stay! Everyone was so friendly and attentive. The host is very bubbly and fun and made our experience even better! The chefs were incredible and curated some unique pieces that were very soft and flavorful. I had never had some of the dishes they serviced, but I thoroughly enjoyed every piece of this meal.

Yelp
Wow. Just wow. My friend brought me to Sushi Yolo last night for dinner and I would say this omakase experience was different (in a good way) and special. The interior is spacious with great lighting. We went on a Thursday night so it was honestly less busy and really peaceful. We got to know the owner, Alex who was super friendly and serviced us well. Our chef, Jake was a master at what he does because you can see the effort he puts into each slice of fish. With so many omakase out on the market today, what stood out most to me about Sushi Yolo is how it embodies traditional sushi. I feel like many places nowadays use a lot of sauces to add flavor and mesh things together which I also love, but I would say it's definitely less authentic. At Sushi Yolo, I really tasted the freshness of every piece. Some of my favorites include the yellowtail belly, king salmon infused in chili butter, scallop with yuzu, chutoro and double layer otoro. Chef Jake definitely didn't skimp out! For $109, you get 3 appetizers, 9 nigiris, a handroll and dessert. I would say it's worth it :)

Yelp
If you've been paying any attention at all to The Sushi Scene in NYC you'll know that Manhattan is currently The Omakase Capital of the whole, entire globe. And I'm here for ALL of it. Covid created an "opening" in the restaurant business that has allowed all sorts of chefs to take a shot at owning their own spot. A lot of these people are young and not only are they WERKING at owning/running their own spots, they are also eating at every new place that opens up and learning everything they can. They've worked at all the "big" "fancy" places and they fill in all over the city, as needed, to support fellow sushi chefs. There is an amazing sense of community and support and serious love for the craft of sushi in this group of twenty-somethings currently, mainly staffing the Omakase counters at whatever spots you have been to. How do I know all this?? I talk to people and, more importantly, I LISTEN to people. And, I make connections. When I returned to NYC "after" Covid I ate at SushiLab Rooftop on W 47th. The location was just perfection and when they opened The Chemistry Room down on the first floor I started also going there. And I talked to my sushi chefs and we all followed each other on Instagram and I dialed directly into the whole Omakase scene and young, sushi chef life of NYC. I met Jake Weng at SushiLab/Chemistry Room. Jake is now head chef and co-owner at Yolo Sushi. I made a special trip from Vermont to Manhattan on 4th of July just so I could eat at Yolo as soon after soft opening as possible (Pro Tip: If you want to visit The City, 4th of July is a GREAT time to go, because everyone else is NOT visiting the city...just sayin'). In all reality I have no right to say this, but I am SO PROUD of Jake and Yolo. Opening your own restaurant on the whole Upper West Side at the age of 26. COME ON NOW!!! Let's be straight: I am HERE for the chef owned, independent restaurants. I am HERE for Generation Z finally taking over this beleaguered planet/country/society/restaurant industry. They are everything we older generations failed to be! As entrepreneurs, workers, bosses, co-workers, artisans etc etc etc. Yolo Sushi is an Omakase Counter offering 3 seatings each night. As far as I know they are the ONLY Omakase spot in this area (Columbus Circle, Lincoln Center, UWS). The location is FANTASTIC. Yolo is aiming squarely at the $100 Omakase trade in NYC and, may I just say, shots have been FIRED. Because, again, if you've paid even a scintilla of attention you will KNOW that there is a proliferation of $100 and less Omakase in NYC right now. Don't get me wrong. I kind of also think this is pretty great. Because it's "gateway Omakase." People can dip a toe in these here Omakase waters without breaking the bank. You don't have to make a huge financial commitment, but you can still try Omakase. And 99.9999% of those spots are serving the exact, same pieces. Which, again, are FINE for the whole toe dipping thing. And the more people who try Omakase and LIKE Omakase the better. Because y'all are going to eventually be supporting the spots the rest of us want! Here's the whole thing about Yolo: They are pricing themselves right at that $100 "sweet spot" and offering you an Omakase experience unlike anything else you will find for that price point. I feel pretty confident in saying there is no other $100 Omakase out there in all of NYC that can hold a candle to Yolo. Jake and Nikki Zheng (GUEST STARRING a few days a week right now fresh off a few years at Masa...!!!) are serving up fresh, seasonal, inspired, creative. SKILLED Omakase unlike anything you will get anywhere else at this price point. They spent their time working EVERHWERE In this Greatest of cities and soaking in all the knowledge and learning all the skills and now they are using all that at Yolo. Here's the thing about food and cooking and the restaurant biz and Omakase: if/when you've lost your fire and curiosity and creativity it's over. I personally do not want to eat anywhere that the chef/owners have lost their fire for food. AND I OWN A RESTAURANT. AND I'M THE COOK. You can TELL when the people cooking/serving your food to you don't care. Yolo is a REVOLUTION at the $100 Omakase price point. There is NOTHING else out there that even comes close. Honestly?? This Omakase could easily be $200. THAT is the quality, creativity and skill level being served up at Yolo. Oh wait! I forgot to mention the playlist!!! BEST MUSIC PLAYLIST I HAVE EVER HEARD AT ANY OMAKASE. Vibe Perfection!! GET HERE.

Yelp
I knew I walked into the right place when the owner Alex greeted me with a hug! This place is so spacious, clean, and upscale, yet playful, fun, and energetic. . The sushi was amazing. The sushi chef Jake is super knowledgeable, and created such delicious items. For instance, they have a salmon dish that is smoked in house right in front of you! And oh my, the OTORO was also out of this world!! YOLO and go check this place out. Thank me later

Yelp
Wow! It's an omakase style restaurant that just opened and will probably blow up soon. Everything was fresh and delicious. My favorite was the smoked New Zealand salmon which is smoked right in front of you - it's a bit of a show but works. They're priced the same as the 1 hr omakase places in the city but the seating here is 90 minutes which feels much more relaxed. The host, Alex, is also very engaging and he helps to create a really fun atmosphere. Service was great and we never felt rushed. Definitely worth visiting!
google avatar

Julian S.

Yelp
So I used to think Omakase Korami was the best value omakase in the area but Sushi yolo takes the crown now! Absolutely the highest quality sushi at a bargain of $109 per person for 16 courses. A lot of the fish are direct from Japan including sea urchin from Hokkaido and golden eye snapper

Yelp
10/10 all around for fish quality, taste, service, and vibes. This is around the $100 mark for omakase (vs the places that are under $80) but this was well worth the price point. Its still BYOB right now and if you do forget to bring alcohol, theres a liquor/wine store 2 doors down. We got served promptly at our reservation time and every piece/course was delicious. I've been to so many of these budget omakases and Sushi Yolo might be my new favorite. Starting with the sashimi appetizer, everything that came afterwards was amazing (quality and topping that came with each fish paired well together). Alex (one of the owners) was so friendly and attentive throughout our entire time. As others have mentioned, they allow 90 minutes vs the standard 60 minutes so you don't feel as rushed and can actually enjoy your meal. The only disappointing part was that they didn't have any wagyu, but hoping they constantly change their menu, so when I am back I can order it then :)

One of the best omakase experiences in NY. I went with my husband . We are really amazed at how the chef designed the sushi. Most of the sushis were well-balanced in flavor and taste. Good food and great service

Yelp
My husband and I ate there. We LOVED it!! But honestly speaking, I am extremely reluctant to share my great experience online. Why? For selfish reason haha I don't want to help to attract too many people and I can't get a seat in the future. Everybody at the restaurant treat us like VIP. They are fun and friendly. The fish is fresh and yummy!! The price is reasonable. They are at a very good location. I hope they serve lunches one day soon. This place will definitely become very popular:

Yelp
i had my birthday dinner here and alex and chef peter made it extra wonderful! i loved every single course. each piece was so fresh and flavors were on point! i loved that this is a 1.5hr sitting and byob. my favorite pieces were the marinated tuna and sweet shrimp (additional piece, not part of omakase)! the dessert at the end was the perfect finish, the ice cream was so good! highly recommend checking this place out, because the price for the quality is incredible!

Yelp
My wife and I have been to many very good sushi restaurants in New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. But I'd have to say that Sushi Yolo in New York was one of the best. Every part of the meal was perfection. The flavors were excellent and innovative. The service was sublime. And the price is surprisingly modest compared to other excellent sushi places. I'll go again.

Yelp
I almost didn't write a review because there are so many other 5 star reviews, what difference does one more make? But I want to reward excellence and quality at an excellent price point (only $100 per person). The sushi was unbelievable, the service was amazing and attentive, and the BYOB with a liquor store next door (or the wine store on 9th and 56th) makes this a a steal. While I loved all of it, my favorite pieces were the double tuna (incredible oturo), sea bream with sea salt (very unique) and squid with lime zest, lime juice and sesame s Highly, highly recommend!

Yelp
Really affordable and delicious. I really hate tuna before, but this double tuna I posted is fantastic!

Yelp
This neighborhood omakase place is wonderful, and the cost won't leave you feeling raw, either. My wife's and my only problem was that we weren't accustomed to eating their full fourteen course meal, but there didn't seem to be an obvious polite way to stop early. Anybody got any pointers?

Yelp
My wife and I just ate at sushi Yolo for the first time this evening and really loved it! The food is top notch and the service is upscale and amazing. Jake was friendly and served delicious pieces. A special shout out to Alex, who is part owner and was incredibly fun, warm and attentive. We can't wait to return again in 2 weeks with our friends to celebrate a 30th birthday! Thanks Alex and everyone at Yolo!

Yelp
I like this restaurant because it is comfortable and spacious. Service is good. Food is good. Only thing I don't like is mackerel. Too fishy

Yelp
Wonderful sushi, outstanding service, laidback welcoming atmosphere. We had dinner here and arrived a bit early. Alex the owner welcomed us and sat us immediately, Chef Jake started us with a very delicious sashimi course. We could tell the fish was super fresh and the attention to detail was impressive. The other diners were all enjoying their meals and a lively conversation started. The excellence continued throughout the meal and finished with a light but tasty dessert. We are looking forward to our next dinner at Yolo Sushi!

Yelp
WOW, I had such an awesome omakase experience at Sushi Yolo tonight. A new Omakase Sushi experience on 57 St. The place was a total sushi party The sushi itself was amazing, so fresh, if it was any fresher it would be still swimming Alex, the owner, was a perfect host and the same goes for the chef, a part owner himself. Couldn't think of a better Omakase experience.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of eating here and let me say the experience was nothing short of spectacular. The food was carefully and masterfully made. The chef throughly explained each dish and how to properly eat it, the service felt personal and made us feel welcome. The rest of the staff is incredible as well, they are quick, friendly, knowledgeable, and I never had a chance to empty my cup. Inside the restaurant was cozy, minimalist, and clean, it truly felt like home away from home.

Yelp
Went here for dinner and we had a great experience. Watching the food being prepped and plated made it so much more fun and tasty. We got to talk to one of the Chefs and the parties near us. My favorite was the king fish! But all great dishes.

Yelp
Chef Jake has taken his years of experience to create a delicious and affordable omakase experience that truly reflects the quality of his craft. The fish, outstanding service, and attention to detail was masterful. Moreover the price point was outstanding for a 16 course meal!! Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
I came in for the late seating, I was the only one there, it was like having a private chef. What an amazing experience. The earlier seating was completely full, so it was well worth the wait for the late seating. The food exceeded expectation, and we had a wonderful time getting to know the chef. If I lived in this neighborhood this would be my goto place. While I was eating people of the neighborhood stoped in just to say hello as they were walking by. It is a very new, and very welcoming restaurant.

Yelp
We really did not understand the experience we were about to undertake and left amazed and satiated. Greeted and seated by the sweetest host who continued to circulate throughout the evening re-explaining what the chef presented, he made us feel welcome and valued. We sat at the bar where each setting had beautiful bowls, plates and chopsticks. The chopstick rest was a welcome touch and kept them off the table between courses. Sushi chef is an amazing artist who presented each meticulously prepared course with pride. Each selection was amazing, the fish fresh, toppings just enough to not over power but add what was needed. The pace was perfect and we never felt rushed but were ready to leave as the next seating arrived. The saki selection was ample and the host made sure you were choosing what you liked by asking preferences and offering tastes. There is nothing disappointing about Sushi Yolo, we can't wait to return!
