The 16 Best Restaurants in Torrance

"This strip mall spot is a very good place for affordable sushi. They’re open for takeout only, so marvel at the Dodger bobblehead-decorated bar going in, and order the No. 8 Special. It involves nine pieces of sushi and two rolls, and at $18, it’s the most expensive thing on the menu. Add on an order of the fantastic, salty mirugai (giant geoduck clam) if they have it. Sushi Yoshi Review - Torrance - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This strip mall spot is a very good place for affordable sushi. Try to grab one of the five seats at the Dodger bobblehead-decorated bar and order the No. 8 Special. Google
It’s a sushi takeaway restaurant run by an older gentleman who’s been doing this for years. He’s great at his craft, food is excellent and priced very reasonably. Lots of Dodgers memorabilia, restaurant feels very homely.

Google
Truly incredible sushi for an unbelievably cheap price. We will definitely be returning. The owners just celebrated the 30th anniversary of their restaurant! Congratulations on such a wonderful accomplishment and here’s to many more!!

Staple for decades in this area serving the Torrance and Gardena communities. Lovely Japanese couple behind this business always with a smile to welcome you and treat you as family. Try their sushi for yourself and order for your trays for your next party!! We love this place!

Google
Sushi Yoshi is totally under rated, and this is one of the OG sushi spots been in the area for more than 15+ years as Nov 2022! They are one of the best sushi places in the area with very reasonable price for the quality and hidden gem in Torrance. They are very simple and done everything right. Sushi there are very fresh and delicious and always hit the spot. Quick tips: This place is mostly takeout, and you should phone in to place your order. They always make their sushi fresh, and it will take some time during peak lunch/dinner hours. They are in the same plaza as Starbucks and next to another OG Japanese Teri’s Place.

This place only do togo/carry out only. No waiting area. Messy chairs and tables everywhere but that’s fine by me. I come for food not atmosphere. Upon walking into place an order. The lady stop me from order because she was packing 1 order which is ok by me. But after I paid for the food and still putting money in my purse, she wave me like she wave a dog and said go wait outside. Whaaa I don’t even treat homeless like this. Terrible service and will not recommend.

Great little sushi restaurant run by a Japanese couple. Affordable high quality fish!

Google
Been craving for authentic Japanese nigiri sushi so I decided to try few different places for takeout. Today’s lunch visit is a mom-pop store hidden in an old plaza off Torrance area. I have been here years ago and recall the owners passion for singing karaoke and baseball. While decoration is no-frill but the sushi was very solid and price is affordable. I ordered the nigiri sushi combo #1 Togo. Good quality of seafood (better than supermarket takeout for sure). Their tuna and white fish (halibut) as well as house marinated Saba were better than some dine in restaurants quality. The rolls were tasty too. One thing that stood them up than most is the rice. This places sushi rice does taste authentic Japanese sushi rice with the right balance of vinegar in it while many fast food chain or non-Japanese chains failed to understand the importance of rice. Overall, a very solid sushi takeout place with affordable pricing. Recommended.

Google
I finally made it down here today for the first time. This location is so inconspicuous but I read a great review and wanted to check it out. It was $23 for these two items. I think portion sizes, fish quality, and service was great. I opted for takeout but there is definitely room to seat a handful of people.

Yelp
Literally just finished eating my meal and went straight to Yelp just to write this review. My bf and I ordered salmon, yellowtail, California roll, and spicy tuna roll. We looked at each other after we finished eating and knew we had to go back for more LOL. For our second round we got spicy tuna roll and spicy yellowtail. Everything tasted really fresh and it was reasonably priced for good it was! We were the only customers there and we waited around 10 mins for each order. The owner is so nice and even let us pay with card on our second order even though it was less than $20. Salmon - 10/10 Yellowtail - 10/10 Spicy tuna roll - 12/10 (our fave) California roll - 9/10 (not my usual, but had to try because everyone said it was good. It's one of the best I've had!) Spicy yellowtail - 7/10

Yelp
Look, food is expensive nowadays and I cringe going to restaurants. I came here because my usual spot (Kanpachi) was closed during Thanksgiving weekend. Surprisingly, really really good. It's slow to get the order (it's a small mom and pop), but quality is really good. But the best point about Yoshi is the price. Can't beat it for what you get. The freaking sushi from Tokyo Central cafeteria is more expensive LOL. I'll be coming here more, and less to my usual spot because price matters. I got the sushi combo #1 and the chirashi. Magnificent. Here's the other thing about Kanpachi that I don't like: They stopped serving Yakki Battera for dine in. Why? Because the chef wants you to eat the more expensive sushi. Greed loses loyal customers every-single-time.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming here for over 20yrs. The sushi has always been amazing and the quality has not changed in those same 20yrs. It's in a small store front. He is an avid Dodgers and Hanshin Tigers fan. He and his wife have worked together at this small family owned business for more than 25yrs and he is still providing quality sushi that you want to eat as soon as you pick it up. My favorites will always be, Tuna, Otoro, Salmon, Halibut both the Unagi (fresh water eel) and the Anago (Salt Water Eel). Trust me when I say, don't sleep on the California Roll.

Yelp
What a delightful mom & pop sushi spot offering delicious, made to order sushi. What sets them apart is their superb quality at prices comparable to supermarkets, if not better. Despite competition from local japanese grocery stores like Nijiya, tokyo central and mitsuwa, this hidden gem holds its own. This location accepts take out orders only.
google avatar

Judy J.

Yelp
This mom and pop spot is so underrated! It's take-out only. I highly recommend calling ahead; we arrived around 6:30pm on a Sunday and waited about 25 min for the order. The only worker was the older gentleman sushi chef. He was friendly and hard working. SUSHI We ordered the Sushi Combo #1 ($14), Sushi Combo #8 ($18), Eel Roll ($9), and Spicy Tuna Roll ($6.50). I was very impressed with the quality! The fish was soo soft, including the squid! I've read this old restaurant has been around for YEARS. I will definitely be back for high quality sushi for low prices!

Yelp
We love this place! Staples for decades! Lovely Japanese couple serving the local community for more than 3 decades with consistency in their food quality and friendly prices. We've been coming here for years but sometimes our busy schedule gets on the way for us to come more often. Always friendly smiles that welcomed you every time! If you haven't try you're missing out!

Yelp
One of few remaining affordable sushi place in South Bay. Everything is freshly made for to go order. It's a neighborhood gem.

Yelp
Review only for take-out spicy tuna roll. I tried this place during my lunch break hoping it was good and IT WAS and is! I called in my order and initially the man seemed confused because I was only ordering 1 roll so I clarified that yes, I'm only ordering 1 spicy tuna roll to-go. Paid with a card, however, it's cash only for orders less than $20.00. He was nice enough to give me a one-time pass since it was my first time there. Very reasonably priced. Tuna melted in my mouth and the sauce it was mixed in was tasty! Wasabi and ginger are good as well. I've been back since and I've only dealt with the older Japanese sushi chef who is nice. I call my order in and it's ready when I get there, usually 10 minutes. The place is quite small. There are bar stools available for eating there but I have yet to see anyone actually eat inside.

Yelp
Happy Mother's Day! The resto is open for pre-orders. Hopefully, you ordered earlier in the week. We were just at the resto and they turned away customers as they could not accommodate new orders.

Yelp
The food was delicious and fresh. A delight to have for lunch. We ordered out but it was the best. My daughter's fave go to place for food. We ordered and the estimated prep time to pick up was 25min. Totally worth the wait to receive these delightful boxes of nigiri. It was a very friendly place to pick up food Thank you

Yelp
Within the realm of small family-owned, takeout sushi restaurants, this spot is pretty good considering the price point. The sushi rice has a tendency to fall apart but taste and freshness wise, the sushi is good. The older sushi chef is quiet but kind.
google avatar

Yelp
All the other reviews are correct - this place is super underrated. It's a very small shop that's take out only. I came around 530-6pm on a weekday and didn't call ahead. Ordered once I entered and waited about 15 minutes for my order. Super quick. Prices were amazing. I love when the value is this good!!! Filling rolls, fresh fish, sushi rice is good, and it did not break my wallet. Can't wait to come back and order more sushi!!
google avatar

Yelp
Humble mom and pop sushi shop with yummy, fresh, made to order sushi. Best part: at supermarket prices! They have to compete with the likes of Nijiya, Tokyo Central, and Mitsuwa nearby, so they have brought their A game. Bonus: the interior decor is a must for any baseball fan! No interior dining yet since Covid, so don't be late to your potluck with your mom and pop sushi! Let the adorable sushi clock lead you
google avatar

Julio G.

Yelp
Love the freshness, quality and service as always! Miss the fact they are only take-out only still.

Yelp
Big Bang for the Bucks Category Yoshi Sushi has always welcomed Take Out. That's because since the past, Yoshi Sushi's business model has always been based on such practices since the eatery is minuscule having only 5 counter seats, 4 tables seating 8 which doesn't seem being used due to the long on goIng Corona virus pandemic.  In a hard to see strip mall on Artesia Boulevard, Yoshi's is very clean, whimsicaly decorated with baseball regalia from Japan, and mostly the U.S.A. Down home and comfortable, it's unpretentious, friendly, casual. We ordered Chirashi Sushi. Chirashi is various slices of mostly seafood on a bed of Shari/Japanese rice vinegar scented steamed rice.  1) Chirashi: 1) Kihada Tuna 2) Hamachi Yellowtail 3) Hiramè (hee rah meh)  Halibut 4) Saba lightly vinegared Mackerel 5) Èbi (eh bee) Steamed whole Shrimp 6) Tako (tah koh) Steamed Octopus 7) Masago Smelt roe 8) Tamago (tah mah goh) Sweet egg omelet 9) Kyūri (kew ree) Japanese cucumber 10)  Gari (gah ree) Sweet pickled ginger 11)  Wasabi Japanese Horse radish Chirashi here is the cheapest priced I have ever seen in Socal. Total deal. You aren't going to get ultra premium quality nor huge thick slices, but Sushi Yoshi is an amazing deal. Of course there is the typical individually hand shaped Èdo Maè Nigiri Sushi as well as traditional Japanese Maki/rolls, but NO outré rolls involving county fair ingredients such as mayonnaise, sriracha, "eel sauce", cream cheese, etc. that would mask the delicate, nuanced, oceanic flavours of the seafood. 2) The #8 Special Premium Nigiri (nee ghee ree) Sushi is also a great alternative. 3) Combo of Inari (ee nah ree) Sushi better known as "footballs" by Japanese Americans and Futo Maki "fat rolls" are also good for vegetarians though not strictly vegan.  If you want good Sushi but at a rock bottom price in a laid back, extremely clean, tasty hidden gem, Yoshi is the place for you.   4 stars. PS Bring CASH.  Credit card for $20 or more.
google avatar

Dustin B.

Yelp
For under $15 you get about 10 pieces of super fresh sushi to-go only. Nigiri and mini rolls. It is best if you call in your order because every order is hand made by one person. I didn't use soy sauce because each piece had a perfect flavor all by itself, preloaded with wasabi.
google avatar

Cindy S.

Yelp
Basic sushi done right. No frills takeout mom n pop sushi joint at affordable prices! No omakase. No fancy rolls drenched in mayo sriracha eel sauce. No teriyaki or tempura. Just nigiri and simple rolls meticulously prepared by Yoshi-San and his lovely wife. I love the ratio of rice to fish. I love the sushi. This place is down home and unpretentious. No more no less. Bring CASH or iOU plastic for 20 bucks and over. Wonderful prices and good quality fish!
google avatar

Jay ..

Yelp
Its been years since I've been back to sushi Yoshi, for the price point and quality of food it isn't bad. The nigiri, the fish to rice ratio isn't that great but isn't bad, the rolls are not bad also. Again for the price point you cant go wrong. Best to call ahead to pick up. Its the stereotypical mom and pop shop. Parking is easy. Remember that this isn't a high end sushi restaurant, for what they charge you, you get good value for your money. The sushi chef will ask if you want the wasabi on your nigiri which I prefer. Their combo deals are pretty good value. Give them a try.
google avatar

Yelp
Sushi Yoshi is so delicious! If you're looking for a chirashi bowl or some fresh nigiri, Sushi Yoshi is the spot to go to. Currently this restaurant is takeout only but there are 2 tables inside to wait for your meal at. The fish is fresh and tastes very yummy. Choose your pieces on your own or pick from a pre-chosen combo. The owners & sushi chefs are very nice. You can tell they love baseball and the Dodgers because there is so much memorabilia and trinkets on the wall. There's free parking in front of the restaurant. I would recommend this place to other people.
google avatar

Yelp
Needed a quick bite on the go and finally had the chance to check this place out! First, the parking is decent, a medium-sized lot shared with other businesses and it's not too busy during peak. The shop is run by one older gentleman and once he saw us come in, he quickly walked to behind the counter and took our order. I believe we waited around 10-15min as estimated and the food was neatly packed and fresh. We were surprised this place wasn't more busy because the value and quality is very good, so much that I kinda wanna keep this place hush hush haha. This is definitely a great small business that deserves more business, just be patient when you come and tip well! Also, the shop itself is pretty small, more of a grab and go situation.
google avatar

Yelp
If you didn't know this place is here, you would miss it. Sushi Yoshi is a great little sushi place with a good selection of rolls, sushi, and sashimi. While it's plain on the outside, the interior is beautiful and clean. Service is good - always welcoming and quick. I really enjoy eating here

Yelp
Two words to describe Sushi Yoshi: Simple & Delicious I finally tried Sushi Yoshi and am glad I did! Sushi Yoshi is straight to the point, no fancy offerings like some other spots. You won't find wagyu topped with uni topped with caviar, but what you will find is fresh, simple, delicious sushi. The menu is straight to the point as well - either order by individual pieces of sushi or they have an option to choose from 8 different combination orders with different assortments of sushi and rolls. // SUSHI // Combination Number 1: Tuna, yellowtail, halibut, shrimp, mackerel, squid, egg, tuna roll (3 pieces), cucumber roll (3 pieces). $12 Combination Number 8: Tuna, yellowtail, halibut, shrimp, mackerel, squid, egg, tuna roll (3 pieces), cucumber roll (3 pieces). Similar to number 1 but you also get a salmon egg and a smell egg sushi. $15.50 Scallop Sushi: Hotate scallops which was flavorful and fresh! $3 The sushi was very good and I felt the prices were reasonable for the quality and freshness of the seafood. I will definitely come back to order another one of the combinations (most likely the number 8 again) and add on a few other pieces of sushi like the scallop again.

Yelp
Gardena is home to a lot of old school sushi spots that have lasted for years. Sushi Yoshi is a small restaurant that resides among them. It's a small mom and pop shop that is filled with Dodgers memorabilia. Yoshi-San isn't very talkative unless you speak to him in Japanese or about the Dodgers. I got to have a conversation with him in Japanese, he's very kind. He mentioned the restaurant has been open for 15 or so years. I used to come here a lot years ago, and while the prices have gone up a bit, they are still very reasonable for the quality and the amount of food. I had the Combination 8 that includes 9 pieces of nigiri, and 6 pieces of hosomaki. The nigiri had very good quality, with some of my favorites being the salmon, egg, mackerel, along with the salmon and smelt egg. I also ordered inari and scallops a la carte, and both of them were also delicious. The restaurant is mostly takeout now, but I will return for superb prices and good quality fish.
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
We were in hurry and found this place from yelp review. Food was great, specially considering the price. Service was barely ok. It's a take out place. Still owner, the chef could be little nicer than his very dry , unfriendly manner. Ambiance - it's a simple take out place. Not important to me as long as food is good being a take out place. I do recommend this place for simple , good sushi with very reasonable price.
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
Service - absolutely ridiculous. I would NOT recommend this place. We went it for the first time, asking questions - he stated yelling to us, took the menu out of our hands, and told us to get out. This place is ridiculous. Worse customer service experience.
google avatar

Jamie D.

Yelp
Nestled in a plaza right next to the busy Artesia Blvd in Gardena, was this little shop that sells sushi. Always walked by here and wanted to go inside but I never knew if it was open or not. A few weeks ago we decided to go inside and we were greeted by this cute older gentlemen. He was so nice and patient. I believe the husband and wife owns the business and makes the sushi right when you order. He told us to wait 15 minutes so we decided to check out other stores in the plaza. The first time we ordered the sushi combo 1, Chirashi, California roll, and yellowtail roll. This place was so good we couldn't wait to go back. We went back recently and ordered the same thing but instead of yellowtail we ordered the spicy tuna roll. If you have ever been to Hawaii and ate at maguro, this place is an alternate when you crave for sushi. It's not the exact as Maguros however this can do in the mainland. The interior was filled with baseball collectables, I wish you were able to dine in but due to Covid it's been take out only. I really hope this review gives everyone the opportunity to try sushi yoshi. Everyone needs to check out this absolute gem.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
This is a mom and pop sushi restaurant that offers takeout only. We thought the spicy tuna roll was really good. The chirashi and special were definitely good for the price. Affordable and quick spot. When we went on a Saturday morning there was no one else and the chef made everything to order in 15 minutes. There is no seating in the restaurant and there is not really anywhere to sit in the plaza. We ended up getting a drink at Starbucks and eating at a table there.
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
This is another great find that I'm afraid to review as I want to keep it all to myself! But since we're all here to share our great discoveries, here is one that you don't want to miss. It's a little hole-in-the-wall in Gardena - aren't those usually the best? It's in an unassuming strip mall with Starbucks being the most well-known occupant. Plenty of parking is available in the shared lot. This is definitely a take-out only place, as there are only several seats available at the bar - literally just 3! I called in my order, and it was ready 15 minutes later. They have some awesome combo specials if you want to try a variety of sushi items, but I opted to select the ones I had my eyes on: 1 salmon $2.50 1 salmon egg $3 1 mackerel $2 1 salmon skin roll $5.50 1 plum paste roll $3 Total $16 Note that the cost is for 1 piece of sushi, not 2. The fish and ingredients are all fresh, fresh, fresh! The rice to fish ratio were spot on. All of the sushi I ordered was delicious, and I couldn't believe I got that amazing lunch for just $16 plus tax and tip. Their sushi rivals some of the best sushi restaurants in the area, I kid you not. Service was spectacular. I believe that it was Mr. Yoshi himself who took my order, made my sushi and welcomed me by name when I arrived. He's a humble and friendly fellow! Where have your been all my life, Sushi Yoshi? I'll definitely be frequenting your establishment more often!
google avatar

Christopher M.

Yelp
Great sushi and great selection. If you're in the area give it a shot. It's take out only, the unagi is great. The spicy rolls will leave you wanting more. So don't be afraid to over order and try it all. Also, awesome selection of Dodgers bobbleheads to look at if you get there a little early.
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
You can't beat these prices and food quality. I love Torrance sushi and Sushi Yoshi is quality AND great prices. Even though they are takeout only, inside has a collection of MLB Japanese players on the walls that are great to look at as you're waiting for your order. Again, you can't go wrong with Sushi Yoshi. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Violeta M.

Yelp
This family owned shop deserves your business! Please note this is a takeout only spot! The sushi was delicious. When you walk in and smell that sushi scent in the air (you know the one) you know you'll be getting fresh fish and rice! I'm one visit this place has become our favorite. We got a Combo #8, California roll, and Salmon Skin Roll. The California roll was so good! Not your typical imitation crab and mayo California roll. This was by far one of the best. As a kid my step dad made real crab cali rolls and they were incredible and this is as close as I've found to those real fresh crab meat California rolls. The salmon skin was fresh and speaking of fresh, the rice was perfectly seasoned and perfectly sticky! The service is warm and experienced! It seemed to me this was a husband and wife team running this small shop and they were both so kind and sweet. I love giving our money to family owned businesses because we know exactly where it's going! Thank you, Sushi Yoshi. We will be regulars! See you soon!
google avatar

Andy M.

Yelp
I love coming here to do pick up sushi. Prices are reasonable and it is run by a mom and pop. This place is take out only and if you are having a sushi party with friends and looking for reasonable prices, I'd highly recommend coming here. Fish is fresh for the price. Not the best sushi you'll ever have but it's definitely a great budget spot.
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
I'm not sure you can get a better value lunch anywhere else in the city of LA than the combos at Sushi Yoshi. I walked in and ordered on a Sunday at noon and the owner/chef quoted me 15 minutes wait for my order but it was ready quite a bit earlier! The slices of fish on the nigiri are fat and substantial, and everything's made fresh to order - he puts wasabi between the rice and the fish if you approve, as it should be. Tuna, mackerel, halibut, and yellowtail were are incredibly tasty and fresh. The salmon and ama-ebi (add-on) weren't as flavorful as others I've had, but overall no complaints. Would come here regularly if I lived closer to South Bay.

Chi F.

Yelp
5+++ I and my daughter were craving for Sushi but we did not want to eat out then found this place!! Yay!! Everything was so delicious! Especially the Dashimaki tamago sushi!!! Very reasonable price. I mean very very!! Chef and his wife were there when I went to pick up my order. They are both very friendly :) I will definitely be back for their Sushi!!

Jeff ..

Yelp
My favorite sushi spot in the Torrance/Gardena area. My SO and I have been going here weekly for lunch for a few months now. Run by an older Japanese sushi chef and his wife, but both their English is good enough where non-Japanese speakers should be able to order without much trouble, and they are both super friendly. Sushi pieces are priced like Kura conveyor belt sushi, but it's made-to-order and they use higher quality materials. If you order their combos, they end up being cheaper than Kura too! Not comparable to high dining omakase places of course, but Sushi Yoshi is the best combination of quality and cost in the area imo. If you're in a hurry, I believe you can place your order on the phone and just swing by to pick it up.

Yelp
LESS IS MORE. This place is like a hole in a wall with some old chef behind the scene. The taste is amazing and authentic. The portion is generous and enough. When I come here I don't need to spend a crazy amount of money to get quality fish. Everything here is quality. From smelt all the way to the big tuna. I was impressed at how this place has been open for decades and yet their price and quality is unwavering. In the sushi scene in Los Angeles it is certainly rare to see sushi restaurants that are operated like Yoshi sushi. I'd rather eat here than Sushi Gen in L.A.
google avatar

Les S.

Yelp
Not bad for take-out sushi. Nothing fancy, but everything tasted fresh and price was quite reasonable. I think the best value items are either combination #1 or #8. #1 comes with tuna, yellowtail, halibut, shrimp, mackerel, squid, tamago, tuna roll (3 pieces), cucumber roll (3 pieces). #8 has the same items but also has salmon, smelt egg, and salmon egg. At the time of my visit #1 was $12 and #8 was $15.50. There are other nigiri sushi, most of which are in $2.50 to $3.00 price range. Please note that price is per piece, not two pieces like most other sushi restaurants. Due to COVID it's take-outs only, but I don't think there's much option for seating anyway because it's a very small place. I will definitely be back if I'm in the area.

Yelp
My husband and I were craving sushi today and decided to check out somewhere new. Like all the other reviews, I have to agree that Sushi Yoshi is a gem. The chef was so friendly on the phone and in person. The restaurant is fun, with a lot of baseball paraphernalia on the walls. We got 2 orders of the #8 and really enjoyed it. The sushi quality is amazing and it's essentially like an omakase box. The tamago was creamy and salmon was so buttery. The food is high quality and so reasonably priced. It's the perfect place if you're looking to pick up sushi to eat at home.

Yelp
Truly incredible sushi for an unbelievably cheap price. We will definitely be returning. The owners just celebrated the 30th anniversary of their restaurant! Congratulations on such a wonderful accomplishment and here's to many more!!

Sushi Yoshi continues to keep it real fresh and consistent. Still my favorite authentic Japanese sushi place in the Torrance - Gardena area which makes everything I love in the best way possible... negihama, salmon skin rolls, aji, hot ate, maguro, and hamachi nigiri. This is take out only, and I like it that way, it keeps the sushi chasing riff raff out. I love this place and will always keep coming back!

Yelp
Super disappointed at the treatment I received today. Apparently I didn't understand how to order from the menu. And when I asked for shrimp sushi I was laughed at and explained the sushi was at the bottom half of the menu. Well then I proceeded to ask for 4 cucumber rolls and he came around the counter, took the menu out of my hand and said I didn't understand. Who treats people this way.!! I guess my money or business was not important.

Yelp
One of the best sushi place in LA. The sushi here is very good. Get the $18 combo, it's decent size too. I feel like this place is better than some of the $60-80 omakase in Torrance. The only downside is that it takes about 15-20 mins to prep, so if you're in a hurry, don't order. But if you want to treat yourself to awesome sushi without worrying about your wallet, come here and be pampered.

Yelp
Take out only. Really Good quality fish, you can taste the difference compared to grocery store bought Sushi. The Price is comparable to the grocery stores so I Will just Go here for better quality and taste!

Yelp
I almost didn't want to write this review because I wanted to keep Sushi Yoshi all to my self as one of the best hidden gems in Torrance. It's Yoshi and his wife who run a tiny sushi restaurant in an obscure stripe mall that you'll likely miss even if you're looking for it. Since covid, he only served takeout now so call in advance to place your order. His sushi is one of the best I've had in LA even as takeout. His sushi is always fresh, buttery and delicious. My favorite is the toro, halibut fin, yellowtail belly, scallops and red snapper just to name a few. When I want a treat I'll drive from DTLA to just pick up sushi Yoshi! And don't forget to pick up sake at the Tokyo Central market on the next block. This sushi is well worth the drive.

Yelp
I wanted some sushi today wanting sashimi. Found good reviews about this place having fresh fish. So when I walked into the restaurant, I asked the older man who was preparing food at the sushi bar if he had any ocean fish or only farmed fish. He put his hands up and told me to leave and said, "Go...I don't have anything for you, I have nothing to serve you" It wasn't a kind gesture either he was pretty much telling "Get the hell out of here you ocean seafood lover, how dare you ask me such questions" lol. I thanked him and left. It's funny when thinking about it. I guess I offended him because I know my fish????? Lol. But then again why would anyone pay a fortune to have farmed fish instead of ocean fish?

Yelp
The best sushi I have ever had. Seriously. Yoshi never misses. Ive been several times now and each time I am reminded of how great sushi can be when done by true Japanese Artisans.

Yelp
The plaza itself is nice and quiet. The owner/chef is super nice and friendly. It's average price for sushi, maybe slightly on the pricey side but I've seen places which are pricier. I love that they gave us the option to have the wasabi inside or outside our sushi! The slices were sort of thick, which I appreciated. The owner was kind of elderly and he had a thick accent but in the end, the place is worth a try for a quick bite.
