While some high-end sushiya can feel stiflingly formal, more like a library or a church than a convivial restaurant, chef Shimazaki puts all of his customers at ease (in English, Russian, or Italian, as well as Japanese). Amazing sushi. Was served four different pieces of tuna and it got better and better over time. Uni was fresh. Chef was a great host. Spoke English well and patiently explained every item as it came out.

We spent 13 days in Japan and this was by far the best meal we had. The owner and chef welcomes you in and is very accommodating. He and his staff explain some of the things you are trying. It is an omakase style meal and reservation only. Highly recommended.

Sushi Yuu Omakase experience was the best thing we did during our 2 week Japan trip! It was the best experience with around 20 courses of deliciousness. Chef Daisuke was so attentive and generous and explained every dish and how to eat it. Our favourites were the fatty tuna, the mackerel and bonito! But every course is perfection. It’s a must do if you are in Tokyo!

We had a wonderful time at Sushi Yuu last night. What an amazing experience. The food was first rate and crafted with care. We had a party of 6 and called ahead to reserve. There was a table waiting for us. We experienced the omasake menu and everything that was brought out was delicious. We all agreed that we had the best grilled mackerel of our life. Highly recommended!!

Sushi Yuu was a great choice overall, especially because the staff are very accommodating when it comes to foreign languages. If you speak a little Japanese or have plenty of omakase experience, there might be other places better suited for you. However, for first-timers—especially foreign visitors—it’s an excellent introduction to sushi culture.

The best Omakase in Tokyo. Daisuke is as skilled as he is friendly and welcoming. The sushi was fantastic. The restaurant is beautiful. If you are visiting Japan and want to check “amazing omakase” off your list of things to experience, this is the only place to go. Thank you Daisuke!

Tourist Trap and the worst Omakase experience my partner and I had. (We have been to Omakase around the world and can safely say that this was terrible) it really spoilt our entire trip. Expected a high quality meal for the price they are charging but fish was not fresh and hygiene was lacking. Just take a look at the photo of a vegetable sushi?! Their Tuna also had a foul taste. We were also seated in front of a large sink with water splashing constantly, don't think that is expected of a $50,000+ yen dining location. Their high ratings are from foreigners and tourists who have not experienced what a proper sushi Omakase should be. Save the trouble and your money, avoid at all cost!
