Our weekly go-to spot for a seafood fix. Lovely staff. Just wish they could address the fruit flies. Other wise food is consistent and fresh.

Food is brilliant and service is quick. I came for my birthday with loads of my cackling pals and the atmosphere was perfect and buzzing with equally chatty groups on a Sunday night. Fish and chips are huge, could share between two if you’re not a big eater. Can’t be 5 stars because I’d need to be by the sea for that. Ultimately, fab for a date night, catch up or a rowdy bunch of mates. Super cute location near the 24 hr bakery for dessert and Abney Books (iconic second hand book shop!).

I went here for the oysters and ended up ordering a couple of other items. I wasn’t disappointed. Everything I ordered was cooked so well. The oysters were so fresh and presented well. Had a nice Prosecco to go with them. The white bait was nice and crispy.(great finger food with beer) The batter on the calamari was so light and crunchy without being oily. The mussels were so juicy and succulent. And the grilled sea bass was so perfectly grilled and seasoned just the right amount so that you can taste and appreciate the full flavour of the delicate fish. I can’t wait to go( edit - I will ) go there again to try the lobster and scallops and maybe the other sides.

Had the smoked fish pie - SO good! And the haddock and chips was 10/10, too. Plus the chef was really friendly - thanks for making such yummy food!

Great food and great value for money. We just opted for classic fish & chips, but there are plenty of veggie, vegan, and restaurant standard options too. All the staff are so friendly, you can’t help but leave happy!

Most amazing fish and chips I had in years. We had crab toast for starter and it was really tasty and made with fresh crab meat. Then, we shared vegan ‘fish’ and chips. It was good and tasted like artichoke. The regular cod fish and chips was absolutely delicious, fresh and the batter was perfect and light. And best of all, everything is good value and the staff is super friendly.

Have this restaurant in my list for a very long time and finally got a chance to visit. Very friendly staffs and professional service. Delightful and casual dining space. Tables are clean and air is not stuffy or with strong smell. However, the floor is very greasy and slippery so my foot always slipped away from where they first stayed. Could be better on this part. Definitely well done and fried dishes. They even asked us which dishes we wanted to have as starters. And the dinning orders are not normally a small fish & chips restaurant would asked. We and chilli crab fritters which is simple amazing. Filled with rich flavors of crabs and the outside skin is well fried and taste like fried soft-shell crabs. Scampi is okay, not bad but not the most impressive one. Fish (plaice) & chips is well done especially the deep fried plaice. Chips are the soft kind texture not the crunchy fried one. But potatoes are fresh. There’s only one toilet and could be brighter, cleaner and less smelly. Looking forward to see the improvement of this part. Definitely will visit here for their well considered and made traditional foods again.👍🏻

Had the cod and chips. Really nice chips. Some of the best I've had. Thick and soft in the middle with a good crunchy bite on the outside. Excellent! The fish was also really nicely cooked, beautiful crust and hot and juicy in the inside. The only downside to the wonderfully cooked fish was that it didn't quite taste of anything. No spices, vinger, salt, etc. It's as though they've perfected the cooking but decided to remain noncommittal as to what it should taste like. They provide condiments for self assembly, but I was a bit disappointed by it.

Two separate meals. Takeout fried fish and chips with onion gravy was excellent. Dine in: grilled fish very nice. Mushy peas ok. Service was a little spotty.

For some really fresh fish and fun staff, head over to Sutton and Sons in Stoke Newington. This was the freshest tasting fish that I have had in a long time. I ordered the haddock and chips and it was amazingly tasty. The croquettes are good, but really recommend the fish and chips. I saw a beautiful oyster and cold seafood platter that some other customers ordered that looked divine. I kicked myself for not ordering it. If you see the oysters and seafood cold appetizer-- definitely try it with Prosecco. Great staff, a really fun bunch that make you feel like you are eating at a friend's home.

Looking for some Fish and chips and possibly a sausage roll? This is the place. We came in for some authentic British dishes with a friend and this place is so good. Easy sit down and staff is friendly.

We tried the fish and chips and grilled salmon. The food was fresh and perfectly cooked and the service was exceptional. This is a must try when in London

Amazing vegan 'fish' cakes! Some of the most delicious bites we had in London. Great staff- friendly, attentive, great space. We ate at the one table outside. Inside decor is fresh. Take-away Walk-Up window available. Highly recommend a visit if you're even remotely in the area!

The worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. We ordered some food to take away and the male waiter could not find my "mac and cheese" in their system so he just selected miscellaneous. All good so far, the problem was that we paid for it and some other stuff and we didn't get the "mac and cheese". We realised when we got back home so we called the restaurant. They just replied: "there is nothing we can do, talk to the owners" and hung up. After that, I called back again to ask for the contact information of "the owners". A lady picked up the phone and asked me to wait since she was going to call the manager. I waited for a long time with and nobody came back to me so I hung up and called again. The line was busy and they never contacted me again. On a different note, the food was quite disgusting and VERY oily. I will never go back to that place. I mean, I do respect if you like the food from there. that is a matter of taste but the way they treat their customers is outrageous.

**Cash only** Great place for a vegan "fish" & chips fix and the vegan prawns are just amazing! Service was friendly and pricing was very modest. The only reason it's not a 5 star rating is it takes a little while to get your food when you order.

I'm still salivating over this yummy fish and chips we had last night. We went to their location in Shoreditch at Boxpark and what a fun vibe! So many small restaurants to choose from and large farm style seating in the center. Their sign 'best fish and chips around' lured us in and we were not disappointed. Chose the haddock and the light crispy coating was delicious! Not too thick like the U.S. The fries were also delicious. Staff was helpful and friendly. We plan to go again during our visit.

Food is good. Service is decent. But the overall experience is lacking. After a meal you want have an easy stroll home and not run around stock Newington road looking for a cash machine that works. This is 2018. There are many card payment portions available for various business sizes. Its not cool not to take cash. You are e potentially turning 50% of business away and annoying the rest. And it's embarrassing if multi site business like ours can't hire a consultant to get you setup with card service. No excuse.

It takes a lot for fish and chip place to get 5 stars from me but this one really is fantastic! They are actually a fishmongers that have branched out - that's what makes this place so damn great, the fish is so fresh (and that's tough to find in London) It's not the cosiest of restaurants but it's clean and modern and actually quite pleasant to sit in, by that I mean that the smell of stale oil doesn't stick to your skin like it does in other places around here. If you are looking for real fish and chips, this is the place to go, I think it's even been given an award or two. Oh I forgot... they do take out in biodegradable boxes, which is lovely and convenient at the same time. I do miss it wrapped in newspaper though - remember those days!

This is honestly the best fish and chips I've ever had! It's fresh and you can take away or sit in. We've also bought fish from they're fish mongers slightly up the high street and cooked it at home (obviously not as good!) It's a tiny bit pricier than a normal fish and chip shop but it's completely worth paying the extra couple of quid.

I like the food. Had the fish and chips. It's nice that they have a selection of fish to choose from. Also a few specials and other types of seafood. Next time I think I'll get the mussels instead. Really cool cozy feeling place. Staff were friendly and helpful. The fourth star is missing because of the seating. Blasted benches!! I hate em. Forget trying to look cute or graceful getting in and out of those things. Or when you have to ask the five other people to stop eating and pull the bench out a bit more for you and your non flexible ass. STOP putting benches in your eateries. I know you don't want us to get too comfy and take a long time but it really just makes me not want to come back at all.

This is for their Boxpark location in Shoreditch. Fantastic cod, beautifully cooked and moist inside, thick crunchy golden batter and absolutely no greasy excess. It almost felt healthy, if not for the ocean of chips that accompanied it. Chips are standard and vinegar and tartar sauce are provided free. For some reason they also sell 25p packets of mayonnaise and tartar sauce by the counter... Wish the cashier had told us the latter already came on the plate before we bought it.

Yep yep yep, I think we found it boys and girls, the fish and chip Holy Grail! Wonderful selection of fish and seafood, everything was super, super fresh. The chips were to die for. The staff are really friendly. Decent selection of drinks as well. It's the opposite end of the city for me but Sutton & Sons, I will cross London again many times in my London life for some more of your delectable fish and chips! Enjoy, c*

This may well be the best fish & chips in London. Probably the best I've had. Also: great local beers, friendly service, fresh fish (like thatyou can take home and ocok on your own), non-greasy batter, excellent chips. So why no fifth star? Some of the other stuff is distinctly mediocre. Grilled oysters are OK, but drowning in breadcrumby-parmesan powder. The lobster roll at £11 was three-star-underwhelming. Fine, but why bother if the fish & chips are so bloody good? Just don't eat any of that other stuff and chow down on the top-quality - think McDonaugh's in Galway on a really good day - fish and chips. Just have that. Not any of that other stuff.

I've never given a 1 star review before but I am so upset. Myself, husband and 3 year old son who are all vegan were meeting our 2 non vegan friends here for lunch. They ordered standard fish chips, we ordered the vegan fish and chips and vegan battered sausage for my son. Food all came, we ate it all, we all tried the sausage and decided to order another as hadn't ordered chips for my son. When the second vegan battered sausage arrived it was completely different. We all immediately felt dread like you only understand when you don't eat meat and realise you may have accidentally done so. We called the waitress, she said she'd check. Came back and said yes the 1st sausage was not vegan. When my husband said how awful this was and what did the manager say she said she'd go and check. She came back and said she had told the manager and he said "there's nothing we can do about it now". No apology, no understanding. When my husband called her back over and asked to speak to the manager we were waiting for about 5minutes. Turned out she hadn't told him before, he'd only just been informed. He was a nice guy and it's really unfortunate but at the end of the day DO NOT serve vegan food if you can't properly segregate. We trusted what we were eating was vegan. I've been vegetarian for 15 years and vegan for 2 of those - to know this is the first time I've eaten an animal in 15years is pretty upsetting- and to know my 3 year old has too is gutting. My husband had never eaten pork before. I feel quite devastated considering nasty ground up who-knows-what sausage meat is probably my biggest nightmare for any of us to have eaten. WILL NEVER TRUST THIS PLACE - a definite no for vegans/vegetarians.

Came in on a Saturday evening to grab some takeaway to sit in the park. Takeaway menu is smaller than the sit in - will def have to pop back in to try everything I missed out on! Service was quick and food was yummy. Lost a star from me because they charged for ketchup and tarter - I don't know about you, but I think if you're serving fish & chips, you should include the condiments. I'm assuming if you sit in, you get them on the house.

I had fresh grilled mackerel and chips. Delicious! Mackerel isn't standard, but it is what looked the freshest. The meal is straight forward, take the freshest fish, grill it fast and serve it quickly. The staff was helpful and were really good at discerning what would be best. Great fish, great chips, great beer.. really is there more that you could ask for at a seafood place? Bring cash!

Great food, best fish and chips in London! Just wish that they would let you pay by card, it's a lot of cash for a chippy.

Best fish and chips in East London without a shout of a doubt! Awesome little eat in restaurant feel but also quality for takeaway as well!

This place is fantastic - my favorite place in London. They have a fishmonger across the road, the produce is so fresh. They do great fish and chips, and also do some other really good options such as fish pie, pan fried fillets with samphire etc. You can take away but it is also a good place to sit down and enjoy a meal - they're licensed too.

rip off not traditional fish and chips large or regular portion of chips is small the chips where extremely dry and disgusting they use 1 fish and just cut 3 portions, the fish was small and tasted like they use a cheap batter, dark brown style not golden, and I know about fish and chips go to leeds they will show you, and correct the prices on your menus and add small medium large, the tartar sauce tasted more of watered down mayonnaise and supply what you should supply, and you are way over priced for what you give, and it definately is not good quality was better of not ordering it taseted soggy the restaurant is all show looks nice but food wise no way
