Saw an ig post from the Houston Chronicle and was intrigued! Suya Outpost is reminiscent of a Nigerian Chipotle. Walking in it's unassuming, nicely decorated, with plenty of seating to have lunch, grab a bite with family or friends or even get some work in. You can choose a bowl, burrito, salad, or sandwich with your personalized choice of meats, beans, veggies, and such. Everything was yummy. They kept asking me about my spice preference and if I had any peanut allergies so I guess beware if that's you. I ordered the beef empanada. It was delicious warm, flaky, with a tiny hit of spiced beef and veggies pastry snacky snack in route home. When I got home I devoured a 1/4 of the bowl, it's a large portion AND I'd eaten the beef empanada on the way home. I tried to eat it in sections to try everything individually, wonderful and amazing. But the perfect bite is the mix of sweet plantain, beans, and both meats! It's heaven in bowl. I was taken aback by the lack of cheese and sauce, because I'm accustomed to well Chipotle, but with the soft sweet plantain you don't need it nor will your mouth miss it. The lack of both cheese and sauce allows the bits to not get soggy and maintain their yummy integrity when you go back for more. The portions are definitely shareable. Next time, and there will be a next time, I want to try the plantain chips and the sweet potato cheesecake. Try something different, your tastebuds will thank you!
