"Pie savant Joyce Goldstein’s neighborhood bakeshop Sweet Adeline makes its pies with a sampling of fruits from the Berkeley Farmer’s Market, which means flavors like cranberry-pear and brown butter pecan will always be bursting with fresh, local flavor. However, its best pie may be the one without any fruit at all. The chocolate cream pie is a luscious, cocoa-rich confection piled high with house-made whipped cream." - Dianne de Guzman, Becky Duffett, Eater Staff

My favorite cake of all-time is the carrot cake and Adeline makes the best! Let it sit out for a few hours at room temp and serve with a large cold glass of milk. It's perfectly cinnamon-y and moist cowboy bread with a velvety whipped cheesecake pudding frosting. So delicious. Thank you for making my birthday special.

Google
If you or someone you are buying these for do not like a super sweet tasting cupcake then the mixed cupcake batch is perfect. The cream cheese frosting is perfect and the cupcake bread was rich and delicious. I had to call because my order was forgot about after the scheduled 4:30pm time but it was quickly taken care of after a phone call with acknowledgement from the person who picked up that it would be fixed quickly. I respect the honesty, my item was delivered quickly and was also give a free cookie which was also delicious.

My absolutely go to for everything. Coffee, cakes, cupcakes, you name it they got it also my go to for gluten-free pistachio cake is to die for. Love the daily fruit muffin. Best carrot cake in town. They also did my wedding cakes. That good.

I ordered the Pavé Torte from this bakeshop and had it delivered to my mother as our family's Christmas surprise for her. The ordering process was very smooth and easy and Amanda has been easy to communicate with as I verified that my order was received and then delivered on the date I had requested. Overall, I experienced great service and the price of the torte was very reasonable along with the delivery charge. I wish I was a local so that I could try their offerings which all look delicious. I will visit for sure when I am in town.

Google
Tried this bakery for the first time and it was delicious!!! Went with a quiche for the morning, which had an amazing texture and flavor. The holiday desserts (eggnong cheesecake and hibiscus lime tart) had great flavor. Pickup was also easy and the staff was friendly. Definitely a repeat. Update: repeated! Still delicious. The cake is so light and fluffy, and the pie has great berry flavors. Will definitely be back!

Delectable cakes and pastries and pies. All freshly made on the premises and when they run out, they run out. Somewhat expensive but definitely worth visiting if you're in the area. The carrot cake is always a winner. As with many bakeries, go early to get a bigger selection

Google
I thought the shop was super cute and the staff was very welcomecoming of all of my questions! When a place seems to stand for quality over quantity, it’s just nice to know a little bit more about what you are paying for! The strawberries and cream cake slice was light yet perfectly filling (vs being a sugar bomb that gives you a stomach ache), especially with a cup of quality decaf! Thank you for making this a nice first visit!

Google
This place was sooo good. Not pictured are the chocolate stout cupcakes I had later that were ~heaven~. I don’t live here, but I want to fly back just for this gem. The ricotta pastry is one of the best pastries I’ve had in a good while. I was skeptical about the apple fennel scone, but it wasn’t dry and the taste worked so much more than I thought it would. I don’t think anything here could be a bad choice. Staff was super nice and service was quick.

Yelp
I have always loved their quiches but I'm not a berry person until I had the opportunity to taste their cherry pie which by the way the cherries were hand picked. I confess my tastebuds were thoroughly enjoyed!!!! Usually I don't eat the crust but I did eat it all!!! Excellent!!!!

Yelp
A MUST-VISIT if you're in the flats of Berkeley. The glass cabinet of pastries is a cavern of wonders, and they are as good as they look. Normally I don't like a carrot cake much, especially if it doesn't have cream cheese icing. But the tea cake here is so good I didn't mind it had no icing! And the banana chocolate tea cake is also excellent. The cherry pie ... the cinnamon rolls ... the list goes on and on. If you loved baked goods, this place is for you. But I haven't even mentioned what I think is the killer item: I'm a big iced tea guy. The iced tea here might be the best in town. I'm crazy about it, I could drink a whole pail. I go to yoga at Adeline Yoga and then immediately march over to this bakery to get myself a treat for being a good boy. Friendly service, beautiful sunlit location, easy to park: highly recommended!

Yelp
Exactly what I'd hoped for. I go to them for all my bakery needs. Not only did they make my cakes for my wedding. But just got two pies this past thanksgiving. They were delicious and pick up was perfect. Fast and on time. Even got some delicious muffins and cookies for a snack. A+! Best carrot cake I ever had. Updated: My absolutely go to for everything. Coffee, cakes, cupcakes, you name it they got it also my go to for gluten-free pistachio cake is to die for. Love the daily fruit muffin. Best carrot cake in town. They also did my wedding cakes. That good.

Yelp
The negative reviews I see on here are mainly based on poor service through phone calls, but interestingly enough I didn't feel I was given much attention in person either. I thought maybe it was just one of those days and they were tired so I tried to look past it. However when I asked questions about the pastries I wish I would have gotten more thorough responses or maybe even some suggestions. When I went to pay the employees were talkative with each other so I was like maybe they were just shy with me? also saw a sign when I was already paying that there was BOGO on chocolate chip cookies that I wish I could have known about before. Anyway I've been trying to find some good vegan cookies in the Bay. I tried their tahini chocolate one and it wasn't bad. It had a crunchy border with soft melt-in-your-mouth middle that was a nice combo. Maybe I'll give this place another try soon as it has many shops nearby and a farmers market in the area.

Yelp
Was in the Berkeley area and I was looking for something sweet. I also had a friend who wanted me to pick something for a Holiday party either Pie or Cake. I had seen this place and was curious about the their selection of Baked goods. I had taken my "sweet" time perusing their cake selection until I noticed a line forming behind me. I had bought a dozen cupcakes which were Pecan Carrot cake and ginger bread cupcakes . I also added a Bourbon Pecan slice, as well. People were Super friendly and very helpful. Parking was easy and I was able to be in and out quickly and definitely will be back for more of their Baked goodies.

Yelp
Wow. Sweet Adeline's carrot cake is a must for all you carrot cake lovers! I was in search for a stellar cake for my brother's 40th birthday and after much investigation, Sweet Adeline won me over. I hadn't tried it before but the reviews and pics from my beloved Yelpers really helped me - kudos to you all! Ordering was easy online and I wanted to add all the things- writing, flower decor, and candles. Communication is solely online - there is no phone number listed but Amanda was very quick to reply online. I picked up the cake before they closed at 3pm and it was beautiful. The cake itself was absolutely scrumptious and made well with all the layers of moist carrot cake and addicting and not too sweet cream cheese frosting. My brother said it may be the best he's had and he's a die hard carrot cake fan. Thank you Sweet Adeline for making my brother's birthday cake so memorable. I can't wait to try your other desserts!

Yelp
I try bakeries all over the Bay Area. No where is there a Cherry Pie like the one that is made at Sweet Adeline Bakeshop! It is completely off the charts. It is seasonal and rare to get one, which pains me. They use sour cherries which keep thier form, and the cherry juices carmelize into a bit of a crunch at the edges of the crust. They are plump with a soft bite-you-back tartness. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and unparalleled. I dream about them all the time.

Maryam B.

Yelp
It was my first time here . I went on a Thursday afternoon around 3 pm . It was easy to park around the store. They had some chairs and tables outside for customers to sit and enjoy coffee and pastries. Employees were super nice , friendly and welcoming. They had different kinds of pastries. I bought a chocolate muffin and a piece of apricot pie. None of them were good unfortunately. Maybe I picked the wrong items . I went there based on their great reviews . The pie crust on the apricot pie was so wet and mushy . I will definitely go back again to try something else and hopefully I can update my review. I can't believe their pastries be like this . There was something wrong I guess .

Ethan J.

Yelp
They don't accept cash. Used to love this bakery. Chocolate cream pie is good but oh well.

Annie L.

Yelp
This is a nice local bakery that makes everything from scratch on their premises. I have been the recipient of some of their treats when someone used to bring them into the office. They were always decorated beautifully and you can tell that it was from a local bakery rather than Safeway or Costco. I went there recently and got a ham and cheese turnover. Was a little disappointing as it seemed day-old rather than fresh.

Yelp
Got two pies for Pi Day at work. Coconut Cream and Chocolate cream. At first I was like, dang price is pretty high . But as soon as the gushing from my staff about how incredible the pies were and they still can't stop talking about them, I knew it was worth every penny. A great place to pick up special occasion pies if you're on a teacher salary like me. Or if you have more flexibility with price, I'd be getting a pie every weekend as a tasty treat. Feels so great to have a small business that makes these INCREDIBLE delightful treats . I'm looking forward to the next Pi Day at work.

Yelp
I had a difficult time trying to communicate with this business in regards to ordering a birthday cake. I called multiple times, left two voice messages, and sent an email. Eventually, I did get a response to my question but it was too late. I had already placed an order with another bakery. While I do understand that bake shops have a hectic schedule, my simple question should have been answered a bit more promptly and professionally. That being said, I cannot speak to the quality or deliciousness of their desserts.

Emilie C.

Yelp
Wow! Firstly, this is the bakery to order from for any special occasion. Their bakers are detail oriented and everything-- from cookies to cakes and pies look and taste delicious. Today I tried the Butterscotch Cream Pie and am now in love. There are layers of warm and crunchy pie crust, balanced butterscotch filling (much like their classic Chocolate Cream Pie) all topped with homemade whipped cream. My fiancé got a slice of the Hazelnut Chocolate cake and the flavors were very traditional Piedmonte Italiana. Yum!

john j.

Yelp
A great local bakery with lots of sweet and savory options. We tried the samosas 8/10 the carrot cupcake 8/10, marrion berry and apricot pie 7/10. Lots of filling for a pie, just needed a little more sweet for our tastebuds.

Lynda P.

Yelp
I don't know what happened to this bakery. Pandemic maybe? Staff shortages? They don't make special order event cakes anymore. Baked goods are pretty much gone by 10 except for the wayward cupcake, cookie or sad remaining piece of ginger tea cake- and person at the counter not apologetic at all for it. It was said with a sense of pride. No old standards like the harvest cake or blueberry muffins. Sigh. This used to be a five star, reliable go-to bakery and has gone the way of many Berkeley/Oakland bakeries that don't seem to be interested in optimizing their business. After being a customer for over 12 years, disappointed and not planning a return anytime soon.

Sherelle L.

Yelp
You walk in this place and you can smell the goodness! I wanted it all! I ended up getting a matcha latte and a cake for $10 and I thought that price point was great. They have two tables outside and I sat at one and got to enjoy my items. No complaints at all, service was friendly as well!

Yelp
Why am I constantly singing my own rendition of Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" with the lyrics "Sweet Adeline" in its place? At Sweet Adeline Bakeshop it's all about the sweets being offered up five days a week. Located appropriately enough on Adeline Street near the Berkeley Oakland border in a small area of shops called the Lorin District, Sweet Adeline Bakeshop is a quaint local bakery that has been serving up all sorts of sweets, from cakes to cookies to cheesecakes, to savory treats from scones to loaves and sandwiches, to coffee drinks, to the local community for decades now. I have wanted to peruse the quality baked goods that Sweet Adeline Bakeshop has been making for years now but never got the chance to get to their location until a recent weekday, in which I was looking to order a cake for a dinner that I was attending by twelve or so people and one of the more affordable options locally was none other than Sweet Adeline Bakeshop. When it came to full cake options on their website, they had three more traditional sweet cakes with Chocolate Stout Cake, Confetti Cake and Carrot Pecan Cake; two tortes with Rose Pistachio and Pavé Torte; and three additional cakes including their Cornmeal Almond Cake, Buckle Cake, and a Pecan Coffee Cake. All of them sounded amazing and before I ordered, I made sure to ask a dining mate for our upcoming dinner what flavor they thought that everyone would prefer and they suggested chocolate. Ordering their Chocolate Stout Cake was super easy on their website, and made sense as the day I ordered it was the earliest day that I could pick it up, which was forty-eight hours. For 48 dollars, I ordered a cake that was 8 inches in diameter and a dense and moist chocolate cake made with local stout beer, with two layers of cream cheese buttercream, ganache and finished in chocolate buttercream and chocolate bits lining the entire circumference of the cake. Once I have completed my online order they send you a confirmation email that says they have received your order and are in the process of making your cake with your pickup day and time. Finding parking in front of Sweet Adeline Bakeshop was actually easy on the day that I arrived for the pickup as they have a limited number of spaces in front of their bakery along Adeline Street. All I had to do was give their associate my name and my order was ready for pick up. Since I decided to put an inscription on the cake, which cost no additional charge, they allowed me to check the top of my cake before they sealed the box. Since I was there, I also wanted to make an additional order of cookies to take home with me, and although there seemed to be a number of delectable options in their glass pastry case, I opted to order three cookies, their Snickerdoodle, Chocolate Chip and Walnut Whooper. The total for my cookies was $8.25 before tip. Taking home my huge cake, I made sure to bring it with me to dinner, and as we cut into it, I made the mistake of putting it in the refrigerator a second time after I had done so after bringing it home. This only contributed to the cake becoming quite difficult to slice into, even though they do suggest that you use a hot dry knife with every slice, we opted to just try with a regular serrated knife, and it was very challenging to do so. Every bite of cake was lovely to taste, as it wasn't overly sweet at all with the highlights being the bits of chocolate on the side of every slice providing that extra crunch, but overall the cake was too dense for us to truly enjoy as a whole. Luckily, there was also plenty of cake for us to take home, even though we had twelve people in our party, there was more than enough extra to go around. The cookies that I bought were truly exceptional, with my favorites being the Snickerdoodle and Chocolate Chip. The service and overall quality of baked goods being sold at Sweet Adeline Bakeshop was so exceptional that I plan on returning during the holidays to purchase that accessible dessert that would cap off any meal, and this includes returning in March for that extra special slice of pie for pie day! At Sweet Adeline Bakeshop, they have become a local institution for high quality baked goods, a majority of which are sold at affordable price points, and I guarantee you that their baked goods will have you singing "Good times never seemed so good!" every time you leave their store.

Kim B.

Yelp
Very cute shop with awesome staff. They have an assortment of baked goods from cakes to pastries and quiche. Delicious lattes - get the honey cardamom (delish!). I'll definitely be returning.

Kat L.

Yelp
Sweet Adeline Bakeshop is our new go-to bakery for cakes, offering lots of options for any celebration or occasion. They also serve a great homemade chai tea latte. The friendly service always makes our visits enjoyable.

J B.

Yelp
Top notch baked goods. Hard to find in lots of cities but in the Oakland-Emeryville-Berkeley area there are more than a few. But you have to let your high standards guide you. This place passes and then some!

Christie T.

Yelp
I've been to this place a couple times and was always underwhelmed by what I had. Thought I was just choosing the wrong items but I went today for the last time and was excited to see they had bourbon pecan pie. Quite pricey for one slice (almost $7) but I love pecan pie so I was willing to try it. Unfortunately it was extremely strong on the bourbon, so much so that I couldn't make it past one bite. It was almost medicinal. Not at all what I was expecting (and I've made bourbon pecan pie before). Tasted like the alcohol was not baked out of it. Perhaps that's something others might be looking for but I think I'll steer clear of this bakery in the future.

Yelp
Sweet Adeline is the most underrated bakery in the Bay Area. Their cakes and pastries are always made fresh and delicious. If you are in the area, I highly recommend a visit. The wifey and I always come back for the Confetti Cake which is our go-to birthday cake. We have tried other bakeries and even the Milk Bar, but Sweet Adeline is wayyyyy better. Even better than Caroline I would bet. Too bad you can't hear the song on Spotify anymore. One touching one. Reaching out, touching me, touching you... good times never seemed so good. So yes, if you like tasty desserts like brownies, cookies, scones, etc., I highly recommend Sweet Adeline. I do wish they had a separate pick up window for online orders. After all, Sweet Adeline is not in the nicest of neighborhoods. Every time I visit, there are at least one or two mentally ill or drugged out people in front and the tents across the street seem to have become permanent. I guess the good times really never seemed so good.

William C.

Yelp
Great place for fresh pastries and cake. Definitely recommend if you have a sweet tooth.

Courtney C.

Yelp
My favorite bakery, hands down! In particular, the apple harvest cake (seasonal) and rose pistachio cake stand out.

micah f.

Yelp
I always missed this place, trying to come in a dozen times when it was closed. Not a Neil Diamond fan, I was always curious and always worried. Finally, one time last year, they were open. I was looking for something sweet, and they were ready for me. Super cute, super tempting, the display cases offered hit after hit. I went for the chocolate cream pie. I don't get enough CCP as it is, and this one was really good. That perfect flaky crust to contrast the smooth, sweet puddin,' what's not to love? I was looking forward to today's visit, but then J told me that we were going to get cupcakes at her fave cupcakery after her appt. Pregaming a cupcake afternoon by getting a turnover, a brownie, or a slice of pie seems off, but I wasn't going to let that stop me. As I walked in though, weighing the chocolate stout cake, the apple frangiapani turnover, and half a dozen other delectables, I realized that I hadn't really had second-lunch. So, why not try something savory? The scone is prob pretty perfect, the foccacia looked even better, but that hand pie might be plan A. Veggie curry? It depends. Maybe it's onions, bell peppers, and leeks. I'd skip it. "What's in that?" I pointed and slurred. "It's got potatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower." The glint in the server's eye bespoke of joys imminent. I got it. It's fantastic. That first bite into the toothsome crust released a whiff of tangy, unctuous curry. And now the full realization of a satisfying second-lunch, second siesta.

Yelp
I've given this bakery 4 tries, and I have to say I don't think it's a 4 or 5 star bakery. The staff is pretty wonderful and there's a lot of variety, but there are many bakeries I'd recommend over this. I just haven't truly liked many items, and it's expensive even for the area. General Pros: +Variety - there is something for everyone between cakes, cookies, savory, baked goods, pies, and espresso +Very kind and helpful staff +Easy parking +Generous portions on a few items, namely the key lime pie and chocolate cream pie General Cons: -Expensive cake slices for pretty average taste ($5 for a small slice) -Unremarkable scones -Espresso drinks don't taste very good -Slow service. Last time there was only one person helping folks on a weekend. The other day it was better since there were 2 people. Most bakeries have 2-3 people working the counter to get through people I would recommend the savory galette, and the key lime and chocolate cream pies if you don't mind things on the sweeter side. I've tried 3 types of cake (confetti, chocolate torte, and salted butter pecan) and think they're average and expensive. I would not recommend their corn cherry scone or chocolate orange scone - both were disappointing. Go to cheeseboard for corn cherry.

Anthony B.

Yelp
Very good. Especially like the Marion berry Cheese Danish.Chocolate Stout cake was good, not too heavy. There are a few seats where you can sit inside, unlike Crixa Cakes that is now take out only with very limited hours. This will be my new place. Be aware there are lots of homeless wandering around outside, although they did nor bother me.. parking is street only and not too bad. Cupcakes looked good. Bought some for my mother haven't tried.

Karen L.

Yelp
we've been enjoying Sweet Adeline Bakeshop for over 10 years. I don't know how long the current manager has been in place, but there have been several times now when concerns have been met with a nearly eff-off tone of response. This most recent time, the attached cake ($43) was, as you can see, about 60% cream cheese frosting. It looks like they took one single cake layer and sliced it horizontally into three wafers. When I brought this up, and then provided photos as requested, I was asked if I would like 25% off my next order. Absent any assurance the next cake wouldn't be the same, this doesn't seem like much of an apology. We have had lots of delicious products from Sweet Adeline but their "take it or leave it" attitude is a big bummer.

Ann Marie D.

Yelp
Decent ambiance friendly service excellent gluten free options. I especially liked the almond cake and their teas.

Denis A.

Yelp
Stopped off on 8/14/21 for some strong coffee and always have such a good experience here picking out a sweet treat. Trouble for me is that usually turns into a box full of pastries. The good women and men working behind the counter are attentive and patient as I select my goodies. On this morning, I picked up a chocolate chip cookie, scone and a slice of carrot cake to share with my 10 year old. This place has been here as long as I can remember and so glad I can come by as often as I do for my morning fix. The shop is conveniently located on the corner of Adeline and 63rd St. and has plenty of parking.

Jim G.

Yelp
This is a small local bakery that serves ready-to-go cakes for any occasion. I got a special chocolate cake for my wife's birthday! Make sure to order ahead if you want a special cake. Their cake and handwriting are both so beautiful! The lady who gave us our cake was friendly and answered all my questions. I would definitely come here if I want a delicious slice of cake or a whole cake!

Anthony E.

Yelp
I love this place it's a real neighborhood place there chocolate mouse pie is awesome I have been coming to this place for years.

Dominic G.

Yelp
Cute bakery on the corner of Adeline and 63rd, the shop has a open interior plan that allows patrons to see behind the scenes work that goes into the goods. Limited outdoor seating available and wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon. Street parking around the premises, friendly staff, and option to order ahead of time pick up. That was what I did when I ordered a 8 inch carrot cake through their website. Process was quick and easy; went up to the counter with my order and name and they came out with the cake. Carrot cake was great: texture was slightly spongey, noticeable spice favors from each bite, and a dense cream cheese frosting. It was so good that friends were even getting seconds. Something that doesn't tend to happen often. I also got three other things to try since this was my first time here. Hoi Polloi Chocolate Stout Cupcake, Hibiscus Lime Cupcake, and a mocha. The cupcakes were a bit on the light side in terms of flavor. Really faint hints of chocolate for the Hoi Pollio Chocolate Stout and didn't really notice the hibiscus for the Hibiscus Lime. Mocha also on the lighter side. This one was more coffee forward with a chocolate flavor lingering in the back. These aren't necessarily bad points, but if you prefer to have desserts that aren't too sweet, Sweet Adeline's is your shop. They will also pair well with some tea. Tl;dr: street parking, goods are lightly sweet, friends enjoyed carrot cake so much they went for seconds.

Alfonso F.

Yelp
I highly recommend trying the Carrot Cake and Rose Pistachio Torte if you haven't already. I'm sure you'll love it as much as we do.

Jenn S.

Yelp
Pros - yummy pastries, seasonal ingredients Cons - no trained barista on staff, drip coffee is no bueno, they expect a 20% tip for handing you a cinnamon roll.

Janet H.

Yelp
One star too many for this bakery who was not only unable to provide decent customer service, but also added insult to injury by hanging up 6 times on phone calls made from 2 different phone, claiming "you were breaking up." Their music and background noise was so unbelievably loud, we could barely hear them. After 12 minutes on hold for the manager, they also hung up. All but one of the products purchased on 9-4-22 were stale. Finally, after such incompetent phone service, we drive to Berkeley from East Oakland to speak in person. The owner did not apologize for the hang ups and instead chastised me for my phone. The denied the hang up after 12 minutes on hold waiting for manager--who is actually the insolent and condescending new owner. No apology for stale baked goods, just arguing and defending. ANY decent business goes out of their way to please the customer. Replacing the items was the appropriate thing to do, but being gracious, decent and professional clearly is not an option for this bakery. As a former professional chef, food writer, restaurant critic, and cookbook author, I'm acutely aware of high quality food and good customer service. Neither was experienced with the new ownership at Sweet Adeline Bakery. I long for the previous owner/baker.

Lucía d.

Yelp
I ordered the chocolate stout cake for a birthday and it was superb! It was thick and rich but not heavy, sweet but not overly sweet, creamy and fresh. It was easy to place the order online. Love this place! Their pecan Mexican wedding cookies are to die for!

Lourdes C.

Yelp
So excited to return after a long break. My favorite go-to is the Apple Frangipane turnover. Sadly disappointed with what I got today. Did they change the recipe? The pastry was slightly burnt all over and the ends were especially dried out because there wasnt enough Apple filling, actually there was no filling at all at the two corners of the triangle. The filling in the middle was also skimpy. I remember biting into this pastry in better days, flaky crust and all, and the filling oozing out from the center. This one was definitely dried out and lacked the filling that I so loved about this pastry treat. Iʻm giving Sweet Adeline a 3 ʻcoz I still support them. Dunno what happened today, may be a fluke. Iʻm gonna give it another try. ʻTil then, Please bring back the flaky and the filling!

Jana C.

Yelp
Just ingested their galette! Puff pastry delight with mushrooms, egg, and what tasted like feta. Nice experience-- filling was 70% what I expected in terms of quantity inside. Gougère was a nutty, salty, cheese ball of satisfaction. Polished that off yesterday. Also happy and pleased to have gotten the last one! Love my work neighborhood bakery!

Nnena U.

Yelp
They have amazing gluten free options. The cookies are a dream. The cakes are tasty. And the staff are kind.

Yelp
Major props to Amanda and her whole team for quite an experience during the pandemic! Stellar communication and outcome! I was referred by Kelly From Bancroft for local bakeries and quite the referral it was! My then-fiancee first journeyed into the bakeshop and had no idea how to go about a cake testing but still glad we did what we did. :) We initially visited on an early Sunday and already there was a line of people. I spoke/met Amanda then and asked to try all the cakes they *would* offer for a tasting. There, I had their main features: the Carrot, Hoi polloi, confetti, and the pave torte. OMG they were all so delightful. The fiance and I had so much trouble choosing. It definitely solidified we wanted their business. I also ordered a latte and loved how well it paired with each cupcake. They had seasonal flavors, one I KNEW I had to try was the strawberries & cream. (Spoiler: that cake was too delicate to be a wedding cake but my GOODNESS it was to die for. Would order anyway as it was so GOOD). I reached out a few months later via email and initiate the reservation and to see if our wedding date was possible for them. Luckily, they were able to work with us! So excited but still had to select our flavor. When we paid for the deposit, Amanda mentioned that the payment included for a tasting box. Great! Second chance to decide the flavor. Picked up the box and that's where we chose without a second doubt, our wedding would have Hoi Polloi for all of our guests to enjoy. From the picture, the cake fed our *about* 40 guests and they all ENJOYED the heck out of it. I made sure to drop a line and remind them where we got it. My now husband and I LOVE small businesses and great ones at that. The wedding was not the last time we visited their shop. Loved working with Amanda and loved their bakeshop.

Yelp
No more Salted Caramel Cake Overall this is an excellent bakery. Everything they make is good or better than good. I loved their Salted caramel cake. It was my favorite cake to order for my bday. Tried to order it and they are no longer making it. They suggested Salted Butter Pecan cake. It's like the salted caramel cake they said. Similar flavor profile but, I'm missing the caramel and the cake. Why get rid of a cake that seemed very popular? Please be a kind of place where you can always go to and get your favorite thing and have it always be that delicious thing you remember.

Yelp
Friendly and tasty! My only concern is their hours don't work for me, but it's always worth making it happen.

Yelp
I rarely post, but Sweet Adeline wowed me to the point of logging back into my account. from the moment I walked in, SA was welcoming, warm, with baked goods on point. Pros: knowledgeable professional and friendly staff - matcha latte so good, I'd go just for that - sandwiches! check my lunch box - cupcakes, cookies, focaccia, cake were all so good I want to order a whole cake there - standout: the whopper cookie! heavenly fudgy and all I want in a cookie.

Yelp
I've been coming to sweet Adelines for several years. Amanda and her team have a great selection of baked goods and their service is consistently great. The ambiance and the staff are quite welcoming.

Yelp
The team at Sweet Adeline is absolutely incredible - over the top customer service! I was unable to pick up a cake I ordered and they went out of their way to text me and make sure the cake got to me, first offering to stay at the shop late to wait for me and then offering to bring it to me personally. You can tell they love their craft and proud of what they create. Their cakes always taste incredible, and needless to say I will be a repeat customer. Thank you all!

Yelp
This is probably my favorite bakery in the Bay Area. Everything is good, many things are amazing. Pies, cookies, brownies, scones, cupcakes, quiches, tarts, turnovers... My personal favorites are the chocolate cream pie (swoon), coconut cream tart, chocolate stout cupcakes, walnut brownie bar, cheddar and scallion scones, ham and arugula quiche, and walnut whopper cookies. I'm not personally much of a cake person so aside from the occasional cupcake I don't generally get cake, but I know they can do it well because the raspberry chocolate roulades for Valentine's Day were pretty great. Their staff is generally sweet and helpful. I am not the biggest fan of their hot drinks but that's not why I'm there, and let's be honest, I'm there more than is probably reasonable. Highly recommended!

Yelp
After frantically running around the sewage tunnels all night, I somehow ended up on King and 63rd this morning so I thought why not get myself some pastries. I scurry in and don't hesitate to order the vegan focaccia (eggplant, kale, and leek), ham and gruyere (classic combo) turnover, and the new cake flavor - strawberries and cream. And damn, they were all fire. The vegan focaccia had a very nice expected soft texture with caramelized roasted eggplant, charred leek, and crunchy kale chips all sitting nicely on top. That deep char flavor was def there. Ham and Gruyere Turnover was a hitter as well. Make sure you have some baby wipes because that shit was greasy as hell - but that's to be expected when you melt cheese, ham, and buttery flaky dough into one component. Just make sure to not touch your steering wheel after without a wet wipe. The Strawberries and Cream cake slice was well-balanced and tasted very fresh with a nice savory cream cheese flavor. You don't taste any artificiality here. I love that it wasn't too sweet, which is a pet peeve of mine. I can eat a bucket of this cake but limited myself to just this one slice. I appreciate the efforts made in making the pastries, the cute display, and fresh air, especially after being hours in the sewer. Though, I do appreciate both worlds and scurried back to the manhole where I was most familiar. I'll be back for more.

Yelp
Perfect Lemon Cake and Chocolate Cake for my daughters birthday! We ordered a few weeks in advance and am glad I picked Sweet Adeline cakes because they had a great amount of info online so we were well prepared when we got there to order :) Customer Service was impeccable. We asked several questions and even got to do A tasting before making our choice! We also got to choose the decorations and we went with the curved shell decoration! Pickup was smooth, we got there and cakes were ready ! And very pretty . Overall a great experience we loved their Cakes :)

Yelp
Great neighborhood gem! Really delicious pasteries and unique flavors. I am always blown away by the prices and great selection they have!
