"One of the newer gluten-free bakeries in D.C., this place has pastries, pizzas, and more. They also do a lot of custom cakes." - Missy Frederick
"This gluten-free bakery has a big display case stacked with treats like banana bread, cupcakes, and lemon bars. Grab something from the case in the colorful Hill East rowhouse—but get it to go because the kitchen takes up three-quarters of the room and there are only a handful of seats. Make sure to try their chai-spiced donut, coated in a sweet, spicy glaze that crumbles gently in your hand." - tristiana hinton, allison robicelli
"This gluten-free bakery has a big display case stacked with treats like banana bread, cupcakes, and lemon bars. It's impossible to leave the colorful Hill East rowhouse without a bag of treats—but get it to go because this bakery is so serious that the kitchen takes up three-quarters of the room and there are only a handful of seats. Make sure to grab their chai-spiced donut, coated in a sweet, spicy glaze that crumbles gently in your hand." - omnia saed, allison robicelli
"This gluten-free bakery serves the greasiest donuts we’ve ever had, and we mean that in the best way. Their chai-spiced donut is coated in a sweet, spicy glaze and crumbles gently in your hand. It’s one to get your jaw around because it’s as thick as a double patty cheeseburger. Pop into the Hill East rowhouse to grab a couple and a cup of coffee—but get it to go because this bakery is so serious that the kitchen takes up three-quarters of the room and there are only a handful of seats." - tristiana hinton
"Sweet Crimes Bakery is best known for its gluten-free baked goods, which might be why the kitchen takes up half of the Hill East rowhouse. But you don’t want to skip the coffee, especially the espresso that’s rich and strong without being overpowering. The brightly colored space is tiny enough that you’ll be bumping into other folks in line as you crane your neck to see the chalkboard menu. Given that, most folks take their drinks to go, but there is a fenced-in patio out back for nice days. Just make sure to ring the bell before you cut through the kitchen." - tristiana hinton
