"No one messes with Florida’s favorite dessert as impressively as Sweet Delights Key Lime Pies in Florida City. This little one-baker operation takes the classic pie and infuses it with local tropical fruits to make flavors we’ve never seen before. Here’s how a visit to Sweet Delights Key Lime Pies goes: you walk into a small storefront and are greeted by the baker. She leaves and then returns with a big tray of samples—like banana key lime, mamey key lime, sweet potato key lime, and more hybrid slices that work exceedingly well. There are about a dozen more options, and they’re all, in our opinion, the best key lime pies in the state of Florida. This is strictly a takeout operation, so prepare to eat in your car or bring a cooler to protect your pies on the drive home." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino

"Here’s how a visit to Sweet Delights Key Lime Pies goes: you walk into a small storefront and are greeted by baker/literal angel Debra Allen. After welcoming you, she conducts a brief interrogation about your pie interests, then returns with a big tray of samples—like banana key lime, guava key lime, mamey key lime, and coconut key lime. There are about a dozen more options, and they’re all, in our opinion, the best key lime pies in the state of Florida, which is why we're including this place even though it’s in Florida City. Sweet Delights is an essential stop for anyone who’s even remotely into key lime pie or just wants to hang out with Miss Debbie." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino

"Take a drive to Florida City (it will be well worth it) to this unassuming pie shop and sample Debra Allen’s key lime pie, which regularly gets national recognition. Unlike others that are dense, this rendition offers a custard-like filling paired with a buttery, crunchy graham cracker crust. It is topped with a beyond-fluffy meringue, which explains why diners often refer to Allen as the pie queen." - Alona Martinez

"This city has a lot of places claiming to make the best versions of key lime pie, but no one messes with Florida’s favorite dessert in such a beautiful, Miami-specific way as Sweet Delights Key Lime Pies in Florida City. Sweet Delights takes the tart, creamy classic pie and infuses it with local tropical fruits, like guava, mamey, and the owner’s own backyard soursop (AKA guanábana). Most ingredients are local, and the owner Debra Allen (who, by the way, is an angel) might even point out that the lychees in the sample of pie you’re devouring came from the man who’s standing at the register. Miss Debbie, as she is affectionately known in the area, is generous with the samples (they are all but mandatory for customers), but she already knows you’re going to walk out with a toddler’s weight in frozen pies to take back home with you (or eat in the car, since this shop is a to-go operation)." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
