"When we're on the hunt for a custard-filled bun or hard-to-find mooncakes, Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe is where we get our sugar fix. While there are three metro locations, their Midtown cafe remains one of our favorites, partly because the trendy light fixtures above make the individually packaged grab-and-go pastries feel like glowing treasures, enticing us to take more than we came for. While it’s easy to pop in and out of the Peachtree location, you can easily stay awhile in the relaxed cafe's high tops and big booths to comfortably catch up on a week’s worth of memes. Sip some matcha frappes or milk teas while you're there. The Pan-Asian bakery draws a steady lunch crowd, too, thanks to items like their bulgogi cheesesteak and the mushroom panini on house-baked bread. photo credit: Candy Hom photo credit: Candy Hom photo credit: Candy Hom" - Nina Reeder

Google
BE AWARE if you order to go cake from this place, instead of packing the fresh cakes from their display counters, they put some aged ones in the box! As soon as I opened the box I noticed the cakes are not fresh, the strawberry on the top is dark red, and the cake had shrunk and dry as cardboard, far from the fluffy cake that we used to get and dine in the shop, they should've throw these away! What a dishonest place, definitely won't come back again.

I enjoyed my holiday latte. There were lots of places to sit for larger groups or individuals. I look forward to coming back for some sweet and savory treats in the future.

Google
Partner and I love this place and stop by pretty much every time we are in the area. We’ve tried a variety from buns to mousses to cheesecakes to drinks and are generally always satisfied. Expect the sweets to be less sweet than an American bakery (but they are all beautiful and still very yummy). Tonight in particular, partner got a cinnamon roll and bun, and I got a strawberry mousse. We shared a mint chocolate chip frappe. As a huge fan of mint chocolate chip, this frap was amazing and way better than my attempt to make it at Starbucks. Instantly addicted. The mousse is decently sweet and tastes mildly of strawberry cream cheese. It’s definitely a popular study spot and we always see college students with their laptops when we are here. Would recommend! I prefer this over 85 degrees.

Sweet Hut is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with the delightful aroma of freshly baked goods. The atmosphere is good and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing coffee break or a catch-up with friends. Their pastries are to die for—flaky, buttery, and just the right amount of sweetness. The staff at Sweet Hut are friendly and attentive, making sure every visit is enjoyable. The service is quick, even during busy times, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you receive. Overall, Sweet Hut is a fantastic bakery and cafe that never disappoints. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in delicious pastries and great coffee!

Google
I liked the items I picked up off the shelf. You have to warm up your your own stuff, though. I did not like the tea I ordered. It was listed as sweet- not really. It was bitter with a weird sweetish chemical taste, like I was drinking fragrance.

Sunshine

Google
Had the chocolate mousse cake. It had a great flavor. Really liked the lightness of the mousse. What a great way to celebrate!

Google
I love anything Mango flavored especially when it includes real mango!! The customer service and ambience is really nice! They place was really good discovery to stumble upon!

Google
Place is nice and spacious. I can see how it is a popular study spot. The cakes were very pretty and everything in the case looked beautiful and tasty. Was not able to get anything from there, but I would like to come back and try! I got some bread stuff and unfortunately it did not hit for me. I just did not like the flavor of the bread and I wish it were a bit more sweet. The variety of bread stuff they had were unique and perhaps I could give a different thing another try.

Yelp
What a Yelp find! After a less than amazing dinner date my hubby and I were looking for dessert and coffee + tea and found Sweet Hut. The concept is wonderful - grab a tray & tongs and indulge! They offer sweet and savory pastries and have a plentiful menu with coffee, tea (decaf & caffeinated) as well as boba. They also have small bites like chicken nuggets, sweet potato fries and the like. We were on a mission for sweets so we grabbed + Cinnamon Swirl Roll - the dough was so moist and sweet! We warmed it up and it was tasty. However, the cinnamon was lacking and there was no drizzle on ours. We ended up dipping it in the nutella that oozed out of my next pastry... + Chocolate Nutella Bun - amazing heated up! Wow! I had nutella dripping down my hand. The bun was a sweet dough and so soft it complimented the nutella wonderfully. I HIGHLY recommend this one! + Portuguese Egg Tart - my hubby wanted to try this and found it tasty. + Coconut Tart - my hubby likened this to a macaroon, maybe not as sweet, but good still. + Brown Sugar Ginger Root Tea with milk - my hubby loved this and it smelled delicious! We will definitely be back and next time we are bringing the kids! I may also wander in here to just grab a treat and a coffee some days too!

Yelp
I would give ZERO star if I could. BE AWERE if you buy cake for to go from this place! They packed some aged cakes instead of the fresh ones in the display counters. As soon as I opened the box I noticed the cakes look different, they are dry as cardboard, I can't believe how terrible they taste. Dishonest place, won't come back again!

Katherine H.

Yelp
Love the cake and late night hours! Service is friendly and fast. The cakes are beautifully decorated and packaged so nicely. We ordered a strawberry short cake and the cake layer and cream were very fresh. They were packaged neatly and even included candles, cake slicer, and a small chocolate that said happy birthday we placed on the cake.

Newly P.

Yelp
I stopped here for dessert. Picked up a mango mousse and a Black Forest Swiss roll. The roll wasn't overly sweet, which is exactly how I like it. I haven't tried the mousse yet but it looks great! There were quite a few people when I stopped by around 7:30 pm, but the line moved fast. Clean restaurant and plenty of seating space.

Samantha C.

Yelp
Ambiance: fast casual/counter order. Plenty of seating Specialities: Asian baked goodies, and drinks (coffee/teas/bubble teas)- lots of options Service: SO friendly Recommendation: I absolutely loved the pineapple bun ("bolo bao") here. I was craving some and could not find it anywhere in the DFW area, but here! This place hit the spot

Kristina W.

Yelp
This is a bakery PLUS. They have quick bites to enjoy with your boba drinks & dessert. It has HUGE selection of sweet treats, and decent selection of savory treats. The interior has modern design. The staff is friendly. It's a nice place to hang out with friends, but you would need earbuds to block the noise if you plan to study or do some work. We had the creme brulee & taro boba. I would suggest 50% sweetness level if you don't care for super sweet foods or drinks. I had 75% & thought it was still a bit too sweet.

Saemyi L.

Yelp
Tried it for the first time and I'm a fan! I liked their selections and everything we tried so far's been yummy. I went on a Saturday night and it was PACKED! I don't know if there were any seatings left but we weren't planning to stay anyways so that was okay. Definitely will return!

Min T.

Yelp
My favorite is the Hong Kong Milk Tea. This is a very popular study space/work cafe because it is opened until midnight. Never had any issue with the wifi, service, or the food. This is a very solid work/study location if you want a great boba tea and typical Asian pastries on the side.

Yelp
To walk in stilettos takes guts So I hold Barbi's hand while she struts Her figure is art But so is this tart With custard, @Plano's Sweet Hut! We came here looking for a treat And Barbi to show off her feet And her shiny high shoes But you'll never lose When you come to the Hut that is Sweet! If it were full of Swedish people, it'd obviously be Swede Hut. And if it had a dirty floor, it'd be Sweep Hut. Whereas if it had no working AC, it'd be Sweat Hut. Thankfully it's not. What to get: Custard Tart! Yummm. The wife cakes. Free water. Free microwave. What not to get: Taro Smoothie - very popular but overrated. The best thing about Sweet Hut is the hours and the fact you can come in here at any given time and just hang out, do work, use WiFi, tons of people, lots of flirting, young people, older people, whatever you want. It's mostly kids from the nearby UTD, but it's eclectic. Barbi always says, she wishes every city had Sweet Hut, where you could come, hang out, get pastries, get drinks, any time, all the time. The downside is, everyone knows about it now, and it's even busier than the ones in Atlanta. No matter what time of day or night, you'll find it hard to get a table or chair or outlet, and some of the kids are very selfish (5 chairs, 1 big table, 4 outlets, 1 person, bags in all the seats, type thing). But no matter. Let's rap. Welcome to my studio, I call it the BEAT HUT One of my balls is posh, the other is a STREET NUT ATL is too warm, I'm stuck in a HEAT RUT And I can't play golf cuz I have such a WEAK PUTT So I go way up to Plano, trying to MEET THOTS Put my window down and blast the RHCP's ROBOTS Drop my tea and all my pastries, I'm such a TREAT KLUTZ Better go back to get replacements from SWEET HUT This chain is from ATL, and has 4 (I think, maybe more by now) very popular, wildly busy locations in the North Burbs there, as well as one right in the heart of Midtown too. I love the ones in ATL, especially for people watching, but lately, with Atlanta dying down a bit and Dallas coming up, this has become my fave location. It's packed with cute people and great for people watching. Or if you're a schoolteacher who brings his or her class here (mistake?), Pupil Watching. I was excited to try the first-ever SH outside of Georgia. I've been to every single one in Georgia, and have reviewed them too, and even taken my cats there (Harley and Mochi, check the pix out). They are amazing places to hang out on a Saturday night, and after a tricky start, that has become the case here. As Atlanta has scaled back hours and become less of a late night destination, this location has slowly morphed into what Atlanta used to be, and it has become our go to destination in DFW for hanging out at night. Now I need to get in bed, or as I call it, my Sheet Hut. And I need to get some Sleep Hut. While listening to No Doubt, Don't Sweet (Hut). And if you don't like this review, I don't give a Sheet Hut. Also, my fave pastry here these days, along with the custard tart, is the lovely flaky wife cake, which isn't called that here, but you'll see it in some of the pictures, so you'll know which one to get. Now I need to go and find my AC remote because it's getting a little Hut in here. Or I could take off all my clothes.

Beth S.

Yelp
The best variety of baked goodies both sweet and savory. Can't beat the price or quality. The service is always good regardless of whether it's busy or slow.

Raine B.

Yelp
One of our favorite bakeries in the area! Bread is so wonderfully soft, and the fillings are flavorful. Service is good! It can take a bit for drinks and food to come out on busy days, but that's to be expected! On weeknights, there's a lot of students so it may be hard to find a table!

Bianca D.

Yelp
Love this place! Got the spicy chicken nuggets and was good and hit the spot. Also got the egg tartes and really liked!

Lucie N.

Yelp
FOOD + DRINKS Matcha Latte with boba - The Matcha latte was pretty mid overall. The flavor is very reminiscent of drink mix and it was not super well mixed. Also the boba was pretty hard. Bakery Goods - really good overall. Great flavor, fluffy, soft, and just delicious. Great snacks for studying! I had the Taro Butterfly which had great texture. It wasn't super paste-y as other Taro snacks I've had have been. Very nice and soft taro flavor. The other two buns, the Hokkaido Milk and the Violet (something) were also yummy! VIBES Great place to study or catch up with friends. The Wi-Fi here is pretty decent so a great place to do some work. I had some meetings and there wasn't any lagging or cutting out. It does get pretty crowded with students throughout the day but there is plenty of seating and outlets. SERVICE Service was nice. I ordered boba in my drink and it didn't come out with boba when I received it so I let them know. They were very polite about it and added it in.

Monica B.

Yelp
Delicious coffee and milk alternatives. Great for doing homework or work, day dates and they have to go goodies with your pick ups. The inside is spacious and has plugs for your electronics and comfy seating and tables for loners and for extroverts. Service is kind and fast. The teas menu is enticing so I'll be back to try some of those too.

Angelos I.

Yelp
Overpriced, rude service , I got the first day cake and it was old. You cannot even eat it. It's very dry.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Food (3.8/5): Pastries are alright. The piggy bun and blueberry cheese tart were the best! I've tried better pork sung buns, red bean buns, and egg tarts at other bakeries. The fruit tart mini was overpriced. The chocolate buttercream bun was not so sweet, yet sweet-feels like a very light rich taste which I was not expecting. Drinks: Strawberry latte-Good, but the sweetness supported the sweetness. The matcha itself was alright. Definitely not artificial, but also not traditional-in the middle. Mango slush-it was good! Definitely artificial, but I loved how fragrance it was. Service (-/-): No opinion, short cashier interactions. Ambiance (4.2/5): Very spacey, casual, lots of people studying, chatting, etc. Normal, nothing unique.

Alisha D.

Yelp
This place is totally a vibe and it's easier to lose hours here. There's a good variety of food options and plenty for those with a sweet tooth. Personally, I like the tofu.

Andrew H.

Yelp
Friendly staff and really good boba, all of the drinks are good, the hot chocolate is one of my favorites. The only thing holding this place back just a smidge are the Pastries, most of them are just kind of meh, otherwise it would be 5 stars. Perfect place to play board games and bring a big group of people. And it's open late so that's a big plus!!

Kristy S.

Yelp
I am sorry...however Chinese pastries have never been my gig...it is something about the flour they use. However, so many people love these pastries. Sweet Hut offers dozens of sweet and savory options, wrapped individually and safely in cellophane bags. They have gorgeous cakes and other delicious looking desserts in the case up front. And...you can also order French fries??? Just not my taste, but very clean.

Yelena S.

Yelp
They have the cutest desserts here and the tea is good too. I tried the non-caffeinated berry one.

L M.

Yelp
Tasty pastries and good coffee, Wifi is intermittent. They stay open late until midnight I think, so that's great. Lots of college and high school kids, so it gets pretty noisy, so bring headphones with noise cancelation

Pari P.

Yelp
Cute dessert spot! They have fun unique dessert options, they aren't extremely amazing or anything but for a fun bite! They have free wifi and many people study here.

Missy S.

Yelp
Great cafe for remote work. The ambiance is comfortable and casual. The coffee is the perfect blend of bitter and sweet. The service is great. The pastries are delicious, especially the pineapple pastry.

Tosha R.

Yelp
I'm not sure what area of Plano this bakery is located but like that it's easy to get to. It's located in the corner of a shopping center between a market and Baskin Robbins. Inside is very spacious and set up with comfortable seating and wifi. Most of the items are individually wrapped which is so convenient! There's a display case of tarts, cakes and other desserts though which is provided by a staff member. I picked up a variety of buns on this visit. I liked all of them, but the Mozzarella cheese bun and the mini Japanese cheesecake are dear to my heart. The mozzarella bun has this buttery, gooey center that is enjoyable. The cheescecake is more like a souffle and also very good! Light consistency and in flavor as well. The taste reminds me of a pound cake. I also ordered the Lavender tea (Light sugar) with boba. Yummy! I've had the piggy bun and the Nutella bun - wasn't a fan of either. I was really hoping to like the Nutella one bc I love the stuff but it was more of a hard block in the bun and didn't taste like Nutella to me. I've ordered a few times and what I enjoy about the desserts are they're really good despite not being very sweet. Traditionally, I've not liked Asian desserts. Sweet Hut changed that for me but the only place I'll grab one at! :)

Katherine P.

Yelp
Korean bakeries are an acquired taste. There's very little sugar and all the baked goods have a sponge cake texture to them. Savory items have good flavor but I personally find the cakes and pastries too similar in taste and texture to really care. They are always clean and friendly but the parking lot is a scary experience. Not their fault just letting you know.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
I went here with a friend to grab pastries for a road trip and we both fell in love with the place. I wish we had time to eat there. We got a coconut butterfly, Red Bean Bun, Pork Sung Bun and Red Bean Mochi. We loved it all and will certainly be back. Staff were nice, the cafe looked clean and people seemed to be having a good time.

Nikki S.

Yelp
Food/Drinks: - Pineapple bun (bread is average, could be softer/moister; topping is wonderfully buttery and crumbly) - Pork bun (pork filling was flavorful and seasoned but not as tender as could be) - Creme brûlée milk tea with coffee jelly and honey boba (50% was the perfect level of sweetness for me, boba was the right chewiness and flavor, I enjoyed the coffee jelly) - Oolong milk tea Ambiance: - gets very busy with students, friend groups, young families, or people working - noisy, music is somewhat loud - seating is not very comfortable - layout is very open concept Service: - Fast, polite Other: - toppings are free/included in drink price! makes the drink prices pretty good - one time, the boba was very clumpy and not as fresh tasting but fine

Chun P.

Yelp
This place is good for meeting I have been there a lot of times Always sweet bakery and good taste

Sophia F.

Yelp
We haven't tried it, but it looks great and has great ambiance. The food looks ok. The service was decent

Arzina M.

Yelp
This spot is soo cute! They have a huge selection of pastries, cakes, and drinks. We bought a birthday cake here and could've not have been more satisfied. The cake box was wrapped with a bow, included a happy birthday sign, cake cutter, and candles. The cake tasted amazing!! We got the midnight lady and yummy yummy!! Will definitely be back again.

Em J.

Yelp
This is my go-to place for HK bakery goods. I enjoy the Chinese bbq pork buns, the custard buns, and the polo bao. When you walk in, you grab a tray and tongs, and pick up whichever bakery you want. When you are done, you wait in line to check out. At the register is where you order any cakes or drinks. It's always pretty loud here. There are lots of students hanging out or studying. It's pretty crowded, and music is loud too.

Brianna T.

Yelp
It's the moon festival and I can't buy those boxes of mooncake at the store, as I am one person and cannot finish it. So seeing their mooncakes pop up on Facebook from another fellow user of a food group, I had to run out in the rain the get it. It was meant to be. To my serendipity, I see even more baked goods I love. The mooncake was the reason I was here, but I'll stay for the other reasons. They have a wide selection of Chinese baked goods. It's super roomy, and they're open until midnight. Students looking for a study location this is the place for you. The lotus and salted egg was delicious. They are $5.95 and it's the size of my palm which for me is perfect. For some it may be too small, or too pricey, but for a gal living in the city it's perfect!

Emi S.

Yelp
Very cute cafe! The place is very clean and cozy! The foods I try were all very delicious!! Service is a plus! Five stars from me.

Catherine C.

Yelp
This review is based only on the food. The interior is spacious and seems like a great place to hang out or do work but I only stopped by to pickup a few buns to try. Custard bun: 7/10 solid Specialty pig custard bun: pretty much the same as the custard bun but pig shaped, I thought this was really cute 7.5/10 BBQ pork: had a very generous amount of filling, satisfactory 7/10 Taro butterfly: this one was dry and I wish there was more taro 5/10 Bread with matcha custard and red bean: the matcha custard really didn't suite my taste and normally I do like matcha flavored items. 4/10

L H.

Yelp
Our first time here and impressed. Super clean and welcoming for coffee and sweets. So much to choose from and friendly young cashier in the morning.

trvp s.

Yelp
I love coming here. I came here a long time ago, probably a year or 2 ago. I recently just started coming here because I remembered their name. I would 100 recommend this if it's your first time(for drinks) strawberry milk tea!!!!!

Avery P.

Yelp
The pastries and drinks have so far been alright but it's a great study spot or to meet up with friends. They have a bunch of tables and some outlets to do homework

WaNesha J.

Yelp
I love this cute little spot. They serve my favorite treats: the bubble teas, their milk puddings and custards, the savory and sweet buns. I get carried away because the buns are reasonably priced so it's easy to load your tray with all these interesting buns that you're curious to try. I've been coming here a few years and they always surprise me with some new interesting flavors. The staff is also friendly and quick to offer recommendations if the selection becomes to overwhelming. Again this is my go to spot so of course I recommend this place.

Suki B.

Yelp
I go here like maybe once or twice a year because it's cute and aesthetic inside and a great hangout place. But every time I go, the drinks and time to get them are so so awful. I love that the toppings are free, but not even the toppings can save the drinks. So far, I've gotten a chai tea latte and it tasted.. fake and plastic-y. Like if you told me the chai spices were made from cinnamon-scented paper, I would believe you lol. The lavender milk tea was straight up green tea with a tiny splash of lavender and milk. The mango green tea tasted stinky, like they over-brewed the green tea. Taro milk tea was watered down. Custard pudding topping is immaculate. Honey boba...not so much. It definitely tastes like cheap boba, rather than the nice quality brands (Possmei, Red Sun, etc.) at regular boba shops. And wait time. You guys have a whole station behind the register but it takes 20 min to get a drink please- Pastries are ok, but nothing that pops out/tastes great to where I HAVE to get it. The strawberry cream puff was way too sweet for an Asian dessert. It tasted like straight up American sweet to where your tooth hurts. Violet taro mochi bun was fine. The pandan cake is excellent. I haven't had a bad experience with their cakes (yet) like the other reviews. BUT I'm not giving up on this place just yet... I still love to hang out here, but it just sucks that I can never enjoy a decent food/drink no matter what I try. I heard their popcorn chicken is good though so maybe I should try that next. I hope to raise my review up by a few stars next time I come here.

Jenny T.

Yelp
Sweet Hut is the perfect place to study or hang out with friends. I used to come here often when I was in high school. It's very large inside with an ample number of tables. There is a wide variety of pastries, drinks, and snacks. Some of my favorites are the Jasmine milk tea, pork floss bun, and the popcorn chicken.

Lan N.

Yelp
Spacious cafe with modern seating. Food (like the popcorn chicken/salt and pepper nuggets) is yummy! No complaints about the service I enjoyed their season watermelon slush. Very refreshing. With real watermelon. Very sweet though but I don't mind Mango slush is also sweet but I enjoyed it. It's with mango purée. I love that this place is OPEN LATE!!! One of the few late night hang out spots that is chill enough for people to study on their laptops or play board games with a group of friends.

Yanhong S.

Yelp
I was here tonight at Sweethut in Plano, the waiter, Seth, was so rude. I ordered fries and chicken nuggets, and I have been waiting for more than 20 mins with no order ready. I saw 4-5 people behind me had got their orders out. I was confused where my order was. I started to ask the front desk waiter (curly black hair) where is my order, he replied still cooking. A few mins later, another waiter ( Seth) with a hat and glasses (Asian face) came out from the kitchen, threw the box food to me and screamed at me "Stop it this is your order". Actually it is not my order, his behavior is not accepted neither. I would never go there again! The service is horrible! If I could, I would vote 0 star for this shop!

Chelsey S.

Yelp
This is a super popular spot for local UTD students, and was definitely a regular hangout spot for my friends and I during college. Evenings can get pretty crowded, especially during the weekend, since you'll find a lot of students studying together or just spending time. Will get a little noisy during peak times, too. Can get a little hard to find seating during this time, especially if you're looking for an outlet. It's not too crowded during the day, though! Staff is always pretty nice, too. I like the milk teas they have here! Sometimes it'll be a little too sweet, so I'd recommend adjusting the sugar if you don't like really sweet drinks. The baked goods are also pretty yummy and priced well in my opinion. I don't really like the cakes too much though (they're a little dry to me). Even after graduating college, I still enjoy coming back to this nostalgic spot with friends! Definitely recommend!

Sam A.

Yelp
Great space for working, studying, meeting, etc. The pastries and food are very good. Drinks are good most of the time but the consistency of boba could be better. The staff are always courteous and helpful. Overall worth repeating visits for sure!

John N.

Yelp
This is always a fun place to hang out and enjoy snacks and drinks. It's always a treat for the kids to come here on a Saturday morning, play some jenga, and enjoy a slushie.

Cindy T.

Yelp
Came here on Saturday for dessert and visit with friends. Staff very friendly. This place is busy! Great traffic and business as there was a constant flow of people.

Amanda C.

Yelp
This review is purely for the taro butterfly! I walked in wanting a taro bun and the butterfly was the closest thing they offered. Wished they had just a normal round bun with taro filling. When the filling is spread out like this in a butterfly shape, there are a lot of folds that happen and usually not too much taro goes into it, there are just very thin layers of it. So, this pastry was a bit disappointing bc there wasn't enough taro for my taste. Not bad though. They could lighten up on the food coloring because taro naturally is a very pale color with specks of purple in it, so the paste should be a very light lavender almost gray shade.

Eri H.

Yelp
All the great reviews made me curious about this bakery store. And since it was right next to the cafe where I was about to meet a friend I quickly stop by to get some bread/pastries for my family. The store is very bright, clean with many seating options to your left as you enter. Their display of products is simple and inviting. Just grab a little basket and have fun shopping! I was impressed with all the options and got some of their milk bread, Nutella bread, red bean bread, cupcakes, and Hot Dog cheese bread. Something I thought my boys would love. (They love Asian bread and we are frequent shoppers at other Asian bakeries). But unfortunately, we were very underwhelmed by the taste. The bread tasted a little stale and the filling was way too sweet. The Nutella bread had so much chocolate that the proportion of bread and filling was not right. It was like eating a big chunk of chocolate and a little bit of bread. As the experience was great for shopping but not so much for taste.

Sandra W.

Yelp
SO YUMMY!! Service is always so amazing and quick. Will be coming back! Thank you sweet hut!!
