We had to give this Long Beach landmark a play since we were in town and it did not disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed all the baked goods We purchased. The staff was pleasant, friendly, and professional. There is a small seating area if you choose to dine in, however, we did take out.

My to go for coffee cake and snickerdoodle cookie. This place has been in SB community for ages and been here for decades. It’s small shop with plenty of sweet goods and coffees. There is not much of seating inside but there are benches outside. The smell of baked goods upon walking in just want to get all of the goodies. Service is very friendly and helpful. Not much of decor since all here fill with baked goods. Definitely come back for more soon.

Sweet tooth dreams come true! Tried the Dubai cheesecake and it was incredibly creamy and flavorful. Their cinnamon rolls are enormous and truly a must-try—ask for them warm and with nuts for an unforgettable treat. The mini cookies are delightfully crisp with just the right touch of sweetness. The peanut butter brownie is heavenly, especially after a quick 15-second zap in the microwave. Note: cash only, but totally worth it!

When I see cash only, I have high expectations. This place exceeded my wildest bakery dreams. Just when I thought I had my mind made up with the delectable dessert another caught my eye. Definitely the best American style dessert place I have been in a long time.

Let me first say the cinnamon rolls are the best and a special treat. I stopped by today specifically for a piece of cake for my birthday. We chose the yellow cake with chocolate icing. The cake in the case had yellow sprinkles on top. When we got home, our pieces had orange sprinkles on top. Appears we were given two old slices which had been boxed and set aside. The cake was course like cornbread and dry, yet soaked with an ultra sweet syrup that had puddled in the bottom of the containers. The frosting also ultra sweet was thin and tasteless except for what I assume was corn syrup. Better frosting out of a can at the grocery store. Bad cake is one thing, but a bait and switch is something else. This was an old cake sold to be the fresh cake from the case. Have a cinnamon roll - 6 stars. I went in the following morning with our uneaten cakes and they weee good enough to exchange them for another slice. I got German Chocolate. Soooo much better. Cinnamon rolls still your best bet. I think the baker was offended, but I know old cake at sight. I baked cakes professionally for several years. The baker said they didn’t use simple syrup to moisten their cakes. That means the liquid in the container was weeping from frosting placed on a cake that has not completely cooled or the grease in the icing was breaking down from being in the heat of the bakery, setting for several days, or both.

This place is legendary. They go extra on the good stuff! Great place to grab a gift or treat yourself every once in a while.

I visited this bakery today with my kids and the experience was amazing. Everyone was so kind & the employee helped us to make the best decision when it came to our choice of cake. The employee let me know the cake they chose for us was moist and they were absolutely right. This bakery has the best carrot cake I've ever tasted in my life. I also bought my daughter the most beautiful Christmas tree sugar cookie which was suprisingly soft. Excited to try their ginger bread cookies one day 💛

I just ordered a red velvet cake for my girlfriends birthday and it was so rich, flavorful, amazing consistency, just overall delicious! Best red velvet I've tasted in years. I also got a carrot cake cupcake and that was so yummy too. The coconut flakes and flavors were so good. Service was quick and easy and my order was ready when I got there. Such a vibe!

My wife and I saw this place on TikTok and we gave it a shot, I got myself a carrot cupcake and my wife got a cinnamon roll. moments after eating my carrot cupcake it gave me food poisoning and my wife's cinnamon roll was good but do be aware what you get and make sure you ask when items were made and placed. Sweet Jill's has been a Long Beach staple for as long as I can remember. I grew up coming here for treats as a kid and it always felt like pure sugary magic. So coming back as an adult, I was low key excited to relive that nostalgia. Me and my girl went full dessert mode after dinner and decided to load up we tried the Oreo brownie, cookie dough brownie, coffee cake, and a pumpkin cheesecake. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing really wowed us either. The pumpkin cheesecake was pretty bland, the cookie dough brownie was overly sweet in a not so great way, and while the Oreo brownie was definitely the best of the bunch it still wasn't something I'd come back specifically for. The coffee cake was solid but again, not memorable. Maybe we played ourselves by not going for their classic cinnamon rolls or maybe the bakery just doesn't hit like it used to. Either way this visit was a miss for us overall. 3 stars love the nostalgia, but the flavors didn't live up to the memories.

What I Ordered: -Cinnamon Roll I asked for recommendations, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They suggested most people order the cinnamon rolls without nuts, but it's up to your preference. I went without nuts, as they suggested, and added frosting for an extra $0.50. The cinnamon roll was good, but it was a little too sweet for my liking, even though I do enjoy sweets. The cinnamon roll is great; it's nice, moist, and soft. I would have preferred sharing it, but my wife doesn't like cinnamon rolls. I would be happy to try other items at Sweet Jill's if we ever return to Long Beach. FYI, they are cash-only, but there's an ATM inside.

2025 Updated review: I went all in and tried their carrot cake, a frosted brownie, an Oreo brownie, and their famous cinnamon roll -- and wow, they don't miss. Every bite tastes like it was made with unapologetic love for sugar and butter. The cinnamon roll is the undeniable star: thick, dense, and generously slathered in frosting, with tons of walnuts packed into every layer. I love that they don't skimp on the nuts -- it adds the perfect crunch and balances the sweetness. Also their iced coffee? Genius move -- the ice cubes are made of coffee, so it never waters down. Small detail, but it shows they care about the experience from first sip to last bite.

Cheap, easy, and fast desserts! Love that they are open early til late at night, its always time for dessert. They have all sorts of cakes, pastries, baked goods, and more. The bakery products were relatively good. But the service was the worse I had seen. So impersonal, so dry so cold and close to impolite. There is no bathroom for the customers, no latte and no credit cards. What???? Is it 1960's???? The next time I will be there will be never.

Opened late and on 2nd Avenue makes this favorite spot popular and a life saver for sweet cravings. The cakes and cookies are excellent here. The frosting used on many of their desserts are overly sweet, and perfect for those with extreme sweet tastes. The brownies are not best, but the homemade-ness of it is reminiscent of supermarket baked goods. Cash only and simple is what makes folks returning.

The spot is yummy and perfect to get some goodies for the holiday season. Their baked goods are baked in case every morning so can't get any fresher that than.

I walked in and asked about one of the unlabeled items, he told me it was a 'chocolate chip cookie with fudge in the middle' so I bought it. It had peanut butter. It was peanut butter chocolate chip. I dislike that flavor and ended up throwing it away. The service was from a guy with blonde hair. Very rude and I was so excited for my dessert until I tasted it. I won't be back.

They're known for their sticky buns and their cinnamon rolls. I got a pecan cinnamon roll this time. It was cooked very nicely and the bread was moist. I've had times ordering where the bread was not very moist and it was pretty dry but this was a good time. The icing is overly sweet. I love frosting and icing but I wish it wasn't that sugary. Overall enjoyed it but would've preferred for a less sweet icing and more of it. The cinnamon cake was fine but fairly bland because we only got one small swirl of cinnamon through the slice.

Little shop on Second Street in the shore. Day or night you cannot escape the enticing aroma of freshly baked goods and have to make a stop in. The place gets pretty busy in the evenings, but it's worth waiting for. We get the chocolate macaroons as they truly are to die for. Crispy outside, smooth inside and oh so flavorful! REMEMBER! Sweet Jill's is Cash Only. You're welcome.

This place reminds me of the old time bakeries that bakes by sheets. Everything was very good. We tried the Dubai chocolate cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake, brownie, chocolate chip cookie, and cinnamon roll with frosting. They are cash only so make sure you bring cash. It was all very reasonable priced, about $5 each. We will definitely make these our regular stops when we have a sweet craving! It's worth trying!

$27 for 3 cinnamon rolls and 1 cookie seems awfully pricey and for that reason it gets 3.5 stars. The gingerbread cookie was good, but a little dry. The cinnamon rolls were on point. If you want something sweet for the splurge go for it, but at that price I will opt for the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

Dessert heaven! Ordered the Dubai cheesecake which was rich and delicious! The are known for their cinnamon rolls which were huge! Get it warm and with nuts you won't regret it! We also tried their mini cookies which were crunchy and the perfect amount of sweetness. The peanut butter brownie was yummy but I recommend putting it in the microwave for 15 seconds...divine!! Whoa!! I never had such a sweet cinnamon roll...it was super super sweet. I didn't even add all the icing on it. It was fresh for sure...I enjoyed the fluffiness. I really wanted to take a few more bites, but I had to stop. I wanted to get other items, but I was worried that it would be extremely sweet as well. Few bites of the cinnamon roll was enough. Service was ok. I don't think I will be returning..

Came in on Sunday night at 9:10, love this place had super enjoyable experiences previously. We drive from Huntington Beach, we come to this one because it has a bigger selection than seal beach. This time, did not make the cut. The workers were so rude to us. We felt super rushed, we were not greeted as we entered. Other people walked in after us and they were greeted. Truly felt not welcome this time around. The employees were on their phone trying to figure something out while we were trying to order. We bought a bunch of treats, we love the food but the service this time sucked. When you're spending $100 you'd think they'd be more willing to help. It was still an hour until close. I could understand if we came in 5 mins before closing, but That was not the case.

Mixed reviews here but mostly good. I've had some pretty dry cinnamon rolls, which was disappointing. I think their icing is way too sweet. Some of their cakes are pretty good though. They're cinnamon swirl is a little bland unless you get an actual swirl it's more like vanilla cake. They're blueberry almond with yummy. The palmier was just OK. Would keep coming back

When you're crazing something sweet, this place has it all. Walked by earlier and just the smell at the fresh baked cakes and cookies was all it took. Didn't pop in right away as I was heading to grab something to eat but it was a definite afterwards. Right when you walk in, the fresh aroma of sweets catches your senses. The selection of cakes slices, cookies and desserts were amazing. Price wise, it ok but some could stay its pricey. The gentleman working was very sweet and patience as I was trying to figure out what I want. They all looked amazing. At the end, it was a slice of the coconut cake and raspberry cake of some sorts. They were amazing and fresh. Each bite was moist and fluffy so it must have been made earlier. It's a must if you're looking for something sweet to satisfy that sweet tooth. Heads up, it's cash only.

Decided to come here after seeing a video online. Was mesmerized by how good the cakes,cupcakes and cinnamon rolls looked. I got an apple cinnamon roll warmed up and was pleasantly surprised. It was the perfect combination of cinnamon to apple! I ate some of it there and brought the rest home to drink with milk :) service was great! And the inside was so cute and cozy.

A lot of variety of cakes, cheesecake bars, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, chocolates you name it! We've tried a few different cakes and cheesecakes that were solid, but the cinnamon roll is by far the best thing they have! Warm, ooey gooey, soft, fluffy, sweet, decadent - truly the perfect cinnamon roll. It is QUITE sweet, but what do you expect from a cinnamon roll? We can only take a few bites a day and it's very sizable, so it lasts a few days. Still just as good a few days later - just pop it in the microwave to warm. Service is quick and friendly, and the interior is small but full of colorful tasty things. Always fun to see what they have when they walk in. If you're a cinnamon roll lover, look no further! Will definitely be back

I absolutely love the cinnamon rolls from this place, and we always order all of our family cakes here. Claudia is amazing--she made our favorite strawberry cake (with extra strawberries) absolutely perfect! It was so delicious and made my sister's birthday extra special. Thank you, Claudia! This place was pretty busy for a Tuesday night at 8:45. All the baked goods looked amazing. The server suggested the carrot cake and the cinnamon rolls. I went with the carrot cake and it did not disappoint. A good place to get some dessert after dining at one of the many restaurants on 2nd Street.

We were just walking around Belmont shore doing some bar hopping when we stumbled upon Sweet Jill's. It's soooo rare for a bakery to be open until MIDNIGHT so I was shocked by this to start! There were a few couples in line who are locals and they recommended the cinnamon bun. We also ordered the German chocolate cake , churro cheesecake & pumpkin muffin. OKKKKK. So the cinnamon bun WAS A 10000 out of 10 recommend have to get it. Best cinnamon roll of my life it was insanely delicious I can't even describe it it was so good. I also loved the pumpkin muffin (which was recommended by one of the employees) my third favorite was the German chocolate cake. It was very delicious but very sweet and rich. I didn't love the churro cheesecake but my cousin loved it. Def worth a stop. It's such a cute spot and they have an insane variety of desserts. I love the cupcake bike rack outside, how freaking cute!

Was looking for a good cookie\cupcake establishment not to far from me, great quality and not the size of a penny. Looks like Mrs. Jill's is the winner.. So when we first went in wasn't sure if we where in the correct placeno greeting, no nothing, finally someone appears and all could be said was what can I get for you with a grumpy look on her face. To get past the dry and it seem like I was bothering you for a little customer service, I made a little joke to get a smile from that customer service lady, I guess you could call that customer service. Anyway I ordered 1 chocolate cupcake, 1 red velvet cupcake, 2 chocolate chip cookies and 1 cinnamon roll, mind you later after being home for a while I decided jump into my yummy sweets. Well unbelievable I'm missing my chocolate cupcake that I paid for. well decided to eat my red velvet cupcake, it was great and the chocolate chip cookies ahhhh perfect crunchy on the edges nice and chewy on the inside perfect 5 on those 2 items. I saved the cinnamon roll for later, which I'm glad I did because it was delicious also. Things would have been better if I had gotten my Chocolate Cupcake I'm just saying, another thing about the customer service if someone tips at least say thank you and maybe a come back or come again!!! I almost wanted to take my tip back!! I guess being courteous to customers is a BAD thing. I'll be back and I'll check my bag before leaving, ask for a receipt, have a nasty attitude and not tip next time I go there. I gave 3 stars only because, her attitude and not getting my other cupcake, but I'll be back

this is def an overdue review i come here regularly, totally thought i had a review! i only ever get the OG cinnamon roll here. i remember when they were $5!!! just a few yrs ago, now its $6.75, cash only and they dont put as much frosting on it. if you ask for a little extra its $$. BUT!! they do have the best cinnamon rolls, IMO they do also sell the cinnamon roll with walnuts a dated bakery. but offers really scrumptious sweets service is average there is a few seating options inside and a bench outside there is also a location in seal beach parking: metered street parking or metered parking lots

First time in here. I'd go back to try a red velvet cupcake or a pumpkin spice cookie as those looked pretty tasty. The portion sizes of everything was so big I left with just two items this time. Carrot cake - meh. Wasn't so much a carrot cake as a pineapple upside down cake minus the pineapple plus shredded carrots. The cake to frosting ratio was also off. For a slice of cake that big they should've made it two layers and put frosting in the middle. About the frosting - I couldn't tell if it was cream cheese or not. It didn't taste like buttercream, but I didn't taste any cream cheese either. I wouldn't get this again. Peanut butter brownie - delicious. Peanut butter to brownie ratio was on point here. Brownie was dense and chewy. The only way this could've been better is if peanut was baked into them instead of just spread on top. I would get this again.

One of the Best Bakeries in town Chocolate Chip Cookie 10/10 - very soft - creat amount of chocolate chips - perfect amount of sweetness Carrot Cake 10/10 Oreo Cake 10/10 Chocolate cake 10/10 - cakes are very moist - large variety of options - great flavor - perfect amount of sweetness I have tried a variety of their items and none of them have let me down. This bakery provides a large variety of baked goods, you're bound to find one that peeks your tastebuds. Customer service is great! Jesus has helped me out before and he is very sweet. He was easy to talk to and even gave us his recommendations! All the workers have been so kind and helpful. This bakery definitely has a home-y vibe, makes you feel well taken care of.

Popped into the best bakery for a little treat! They've unfortunately stopped carrying my favorite item (RIP chocolate chip brownie) but they were super helpful recommending a few alternatives close in flavor that I might enjoy. Ultimately we ended up pivoting completely and going the classic cinnamon roll (a must-have). I love the relaxed and welcoming feel of this shop. Overall love Sweet Jill's every time!

As you get closer to the shop you can smell it. That sweet aroma is definitely in the air. Then walking in, it's honestly the perfect sweet treats vibe...like, it's pink and the baked goods in the cases are just so beautiful and aesthetically appealing. I feel like it would be a bakery shop they would use on a Hallmark film or something--simple and pretty. LOL. I feel like their most famous selections are the cinnamon roll and the carrot cake so of course I had to try those. The cinnamon roll is gooey and moist and most certainly a very sweet treat. If you don't want an overload, try sharing it...I don't know if I'm being a big sweets coward, but I would say you could easily split one of their slices between 4 people. Unless of course, you have a power sweet tooth game--then I say go for it and enjoy. :-) The carrot cake is delicious and I would most definitely get that again...if you love carrot cake as a general practice (like I do), I recommend giving this one a try. They also have other varieties of sweets to try depending on one's mood--again, if you have a sweet tooth, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy most anything they have. On the opposite coin, if you don't really groove on sweet things, this place is not for you. The service is efficient, helpful and friendly. They prefer cash.

Came to sweet jills late Monday night. It was pretty busy here and it's no surprise. Their desserts are all a really delicious treat. The cinnamon roll was buttery, soft and fluffy. Also tried the carrot cake and that was just as good. Definitely recommend coming here for a sweet treat.

I've been to sweet Jill's a few times now and have tried something different every time. I will say the price just does not make it worth it. I always have cash on me so I don't mind the cash only rule but most of the pastries are $6+ and I'm a girl that's gonna wanna try more than one. I've had their cookie dough cheesecake (dense, wouldn't buy again), German chocolate brownie (just average), blueberry Bavarian coffee cake (ok), orange cranberry muffin (absolutely would order again).

Get the cinnamon roll! Do it! It's delightfully gooey. We loved it. There are so many fresh baked items to choose from. The scent will call you in from the street.

Staff is so friendly and always makes a great experience- the cinnamon rolls are my favorite - I have been trying a different sweet treat every visit- of course in addition to my CR with extra frosting- so far my 2nd fav is German Chocolate Cake

Ambience is cozy, similar to local bakery's vibes. Kind of reminds me of the bakeries in the Philippines. Lots of options for sweet tooth peeps like me, cinnamon rolls served warm with icing. Worker's friendly and they also serve coffee/hot cocoa. Do bring cash when you come in here, they only accept cash. Highly recommend this place for comfort dessert

The name say it all, "sweet" place for all the right or any excuses reasons. They got all the bake goods. I used to come here for years but after all the sugar rush die down and I moved therefore I paused. This week, it just about sweet things for me. This would be my #8 store in 4 days. I love the cookies here, especially snickerdoodle. You ca smell the bake goods from the street and it's irresistible to ignore the displaces of the goodies at the glass window, it just like calling your name to "come in and try me". The name says it all, they all are sweet (the older I get, it's getting abit too sweet for me) but once in awhile, it just hitting all the right spots. The staff/baker are sweet, friendly and honestly adorable. They do have seating area inside, which I call the "alley" cause it does look like it. Also a bench outside. It's a cute, colorful sweet shop for sweet things. The prices are reasonable and portion is huge. What more can you ask for. Yum!

This is our favorite cupcake place on 2nd Street. And it's not just cupcakes! I love their chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganache, so rich and decadent it takes me a couple days to eat it. But I also love their brownies with different toppings. The s'mores brownie and german chocolate brownie are the best! Also super rich so just eating a quarter at a time is a treat. My husband had turned me on to the delicious cheesecakes. He loves the chocolate chip cheesecake, but I think I prefer the classic plain. It's a nice compliment to all the rich chocolate. Remember, this place is cash only!

This place simply is the best around. If you're lucky enough to cash the cinnamon rolls as they come out the oven don't hesitate grab one maybe grab two make sure they put that sauce all over that nice glaze. The staff is friendly. There isn't too much seating.

Both were so good, they should come with a warning label May cause taste buds to explode with joy! They do have an outdoor bench so you can people watch while enjoying your desserts. Parking can be a bit of a treasure hunt, but trust me, it's worth circling the block for. Whether you're a dessert aficionado or just in the mood to treat yourself, Sweet Jill's is the place to be. Come for the cakes, stay for the charm!

Caramel apple, cinnamon bun and their personal mini cakes are my go to items whenever I'm around second street area. The smell of freshly baked cakes and pastries will definitely smack you right before you enter the place. Can't complain about that. The team members are friendly and welcoming. Definitely patient too waiting on people waiting to decide what to get since there are so much to chose from. Highly recommend after a hearty, greasy meal around or if you want sugar rush while walking along the area!
