Sweet Maple Brunch Restaurant Brings ‘Millionaire’s Bacon’ to Santa Monica | Eater LA

"I'm excited that beloved Bay Area brunch restaurant Sweet Maple is opening its first Los Angeles location today, December 8, in an opulent Santa Monica space. I was drawn to its Asian-inspired takes on brunch classics and its trademark Millionaire’s Bacon — a thick, sweet, and slightly spicy candied slab of pork — which has helped build the cult following from its San Francisco, Palo Alto, and Cupertino locations. Signature dishes include the Pimped Up Ramyun (a deconstructed Shin Ramyun with fried egg, sautéed vegetables, and a slice of the thick bacon), the Tornado Galbi Omurice (a silky, twisted omelet dolloped over galbi fried rice), Soufflegg Skillets that recall gyeran-jjim, and croissant-dough waffles that echo the croffle trend; the Short Ribs Pot is a milder, untraditional spin on galbi-jjim topped with a poached egg and sautéed kimchi, and the Marnier french toast at this Santa Monica spot is more citrus-forward with a thicker crème brûlée crust and extra-fluffy milk bread from a local bakery. The space—taking over the former Joan’s on Third on Ocean Avenue—features high ceilings, polished table decor, shimmering chandeliers, and Korean plateware designed by owner Hoyul Choi’s wife Jiyeon to convey airiness and approachable luxury, and the menu also leans into heartier lunch options like the Jam Juicy Lucy Burger with housemade bacon jam and a crab sandwich with garlicky Dungeness crab, apple, celery, onion, arugula, and frisée. Sweet Maple is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1705 Ocean Ave., Santa Monica, CA 90401." - Cathy Park

Sweet Maple Opening in SFO for Millionaire’s Bacon at the Airport | Eater SF

"One of San Francisco’s most popular brunch purveyors, Sweet Maple will open an airport outpost in Terminal 2 (after security) in March, offering travelers a last (or first) taste of San Francisco. I know it as the home of Millionaire’s Bacon — a thick-cut, brown sugar and cayenne glazed bacon dish that owners Steven and Jiyeon Choi have even trademarked — and its original Pac Heights location opened in 2010. Choi cites his education in molecular and cell biology for the quality of the Millionaire’s Bacon, and the menu isn’t short on other classic American plates with a touch of Asian influence, including the “big hip” deep-fried French toast as well as breakfast sandwiches and scrambles." - Caleb Pershan

Breakfast with an Asian fusion twist! The wait was around 20 mins on a rainy Saturday. We ordered the breakfast shots with bacon, omurice, French toast, and the skillet. Food was out in about 10 minutes which was so fast for being so busy! Absolutely loved everything we ate and highly recommend.

Google
Asian-fusion brunch?! Yes!!! There's a long list of dishes that I want to try. This morning, the 3 of us shared several dishes. My favorite was the BACON sampler and mocha waffle. The eggs Benedict with bacon was okay. So was the egg scrambled. Just okay. I think I'll come back and try more of the Asian-fusion items that's unique to this place. Pricey ($$$) because of the prime location on the corner Ocean & Olympic, just south of the 10 fry and the SM Pier. But a great place to entertain and impress.

We visited this breakfast restaurant on a beautiful Saturday morning. We enjoyed the bottomless mimosa and food, the decor of the restaurant is bright with comfortable seating, There is seating indoors as well as outdoor. The patio area is from the front of the restaurant the side of the restaurant. The food was good. I had the killer Cesar salad and my guess had the BLT sandwich with fries. Nan was our server on this busy Saturday afternoon. There is bar seating area, which we opted for while waiting for the patio seating. Once there was a patio seating available to moved to the patio to enjoy the weather. The guava mimosa is a show stopper. One of the waiter suggested this mimosa and it was a great suggestion for us. Parking is meter street parking or parking at a near by parking lot. I recommend you made reservations for the# restaurant.

I had an excellent brunch at Sweet Maple in Santa Monica. The crouffle 🧇 (croissant waffle) was truly a standout—crispy on the outside with a fluffy interior, topped with fresh fruits and a drizzle of syrup that added the perfect sweetness. The Millionaire 🥓 bacon was wonderfully cooked, sweet and spicy, balancing nicely with the sweetness of the waffles. To complement, I ordered an Espresso Martini, which was expertly made with a rich espresso shot combined with smooth vodka, delivering a sophisticated kick to start the day. Overall, the combination of flavors and quality ingredients made for a delightful and satisfying brunch experience. Highly recommend this spot.

A group of 6 of us went there for lunch. Our server was personable. Our food presentation was amazing. Tasty too. Millionaire bacon was yummy. As long as you order the food as it is listed on the menu, it’s great. Substitutions was an up-charge. I was thankful they could substitute my deep fried potatoes for a house salad that came with the Blackstone. I can’t eat deep fried food. My friend asked for no onions, but it was made with onions, but other than that we had a great experience. Thank you!

Google
A quiet and pleasant place, just a 4 minute walk from the Santa Monica Pier. The place was already full of people in the morning, and I even had to wait in line for about 10 minutes, maybe because I came on a Sunday morning. Nice atmosphere and a menu where everyone can find something to eat. Dish prices are around 25-35 USD.

Had an amazing brunch experience at Sweet Maple in Santa Monica! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming — we felt truly taken care of from the moment we walked in. The menu had such a large variety that we were honestly spoiled for choice. We ended up ordering four different breakfast items, and each one tasted absolutely heavenly. I can still remember the flavors! The ambience was warm and inviting, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in the area — it’s a brunch lover’s dream!

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but I can't. The food was a little hit or miss for me. The presentations were beautiful, but sadly my omurice came out barely warm. We also ordered Brussel sprouts but I guess it wasn't what we were expecting. We thought it would be halved Brussels but they just came out shaved and a bowl of all crispy leaves. Basically not to our tastes. Now as for the good. Service was fantastic. We had a very friendly server. I had a lavender latte which was perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. I wouldn't have changed a thing. My husband ordered like a spinach and mushroom eggs which were really good with the potatoes on the side. The real winner here was the bacon jam. That made the entire dish soar. The kids liked the mini pancakes but they looked exactly like the ones from Costco so I wouldn't be shocked if that's where they were from. Overall not bad. Service was definitely a win as was the coffee and vibe. I couldn't give it the 5 stars though because the food wasn't consistent. Probably won't be back but was worth a shot.

Yelp
Visited Sweet Maple today for breakfast. For myself I ordered the Hass omelette that has Avacado Bacon and Monterrey Jack Cheese with a side of Pico de Gallo(really small portion). Comes with a side of potato medeley and a scone. As well as a Mernier French toast. My girlfriend got the BLTA sandwhich W/Fries and the Korean chicken wings. The Hass omelette was delicious soft and crunchy with the bacon bites. The potato wedges were crunchy with a soft interior. Well seasoned a must have. The mernier French toast was a delicacy. Toasty outside with a soft inside that melts with every bite. To drink I had a standard coffee that was too strong for my liking. Above all service was friendly and approachable. I think the price was a little high. But we all deserve to splurge a little. The entire meal was a little over 100 smackeroos. Highly recommended. Bring an empty stomach leave with a happy full stomach. Will definitely revisit again.

Yelp
Booked this spot on a whim as they looked really tasty from pictures and accepted reservations through Yelp and wasn't disappointed! Really loved the location (a block from the beach and within walking distance to the pier). The space was so nice and so bright, but super super busy. They take walk ins but I recommend getting a ressie as they sat us immediately. It's a delicious Asian Fusion brunch spot so not your typical brunch, but still having a spin on brunch classics. They offer bottomless mimosas, but your entire table needs to get it. I opted for the Millionaires Mary because it comes with their famous bacon, which was super delicious and thick cut. We also got the Who wants to be a millionaire shots, which comes with 2 shots per order and some of the delicious bacon again. My buddy got a Spicy Micheladas which came with the crispy rice paper snack on top. Food wise, everything was a hit, from the Sizzling Stonepot to the Jam Juicy Lucy Burger, but the standout for me was the Tornado Galbi Omurice. A must get as it was super hearty, delicious, and sharable, but the same could be said for all the dishes we got. The Marniers French Toast and Crispy Brussels sprouts were also a hit. My one critique of the Brussels would be that as opposed to full Brussels sprouts, they use the leaves, which makes it not have as much of a bite and is more crispy. It comes with mochi and bacon, which were excellent touches, but are served in a small bowl with a serving spoon, but with the volume of leaves, bacon, and mochi, everything falls out onto the table when you try to scoop. It was still a good dish, but should be plated differently to not make a mess. Everything else was great, from the service, to the location, to the food. 10/10 will come again.

Yelp
Came without a reservation for Sunday Brunch and there wasn't too much of a wait for walk ins. The atmosphere was nice but the food was lacking. Maybe we just had high expectations from the other reviews or we ordered the wrong things. We got the millionaires bacon, sesame einspanner, tornado omurice and the blueberry French toast. The sesame einspanner was weird as the sesame foam didn't completely melt into the coffee after mixing and it just coagulated into chunks that floated on the surface. The omurice was ok, with the sauce tasting more like bbq than demiglace. The French toast was honestly kinda gross, it was akin to deep fried funnel cake you'd get at the fairgrounds, but topped with cream cheese. Very very heavy and smells greasy. The best thing we ordered was probably the bacon.

Yelp
I found this place on Yelp because I was heading to the airport to drop off my niece and we wanted to grab something to eat before I dropped her off. This place popped up and I had never heard of it nor have I ever been in this area to dine and it looked really great from the reviews. We definitely were very impressed by the food and the presentation and the service of this place. I would've given them five stars but they messed up on my niece's entrée and added cheese to her omelette and we didn't have time to wait so thankfully she ate it. They also forgot to tell me they validate so some time was wasted walking back and forth since we had to head to the LAX on a rainy day. This place is secretly on the bottom of the ground floor of residential condos and there is parking downstairs conveniently underground. Make sure you validate before you leave. I didn't know they validated it and had to return back to the restaurant to do so I definitely will go back and I recommend trying out the delicious food. You won't be disappointed! Everyone was ordering the famous French toast so I will have to try that one next time. I ordered the fried chicken on the waffles which was really a specially made croissant with Real maple syrup. Such beautiful and delicious order!

Yelp
Not sure how this place isn't blowing up with 5 stars! Boy have I been sleeping on Sweet Maple. Don't let the construction deter you from this incredible brunch spot. Ambiance is mid to upper level casual so you'll get away wearing something nice or something comfortable. Very clean establishment with modern furniture, fixtures, and lots of seating options. Service was excellent and attentive. Now.. the FOOD. Lots of options for brunch that are carefully crafted to infuse Asian inspired flavors and ingredients- even the drinks! I can't believe I've only now experienced the concept of Asian inspired brunch! I had the Phuket coffee (incredible) and the savory egg soufflé with a side of potatoes. It was a very generous portion that was all cooked to perfection with the right amount of seasonings and spices. Other dishes looked intriguing so I'm very excited to try those out in the future. All in all, I literally have no negative feedback to provide -- I was even able to find parking on a Sunday when visiting !

Yelp
First time here and I had a great experience. Parking sucks, but it's downtown SM, so expected. They were quite busy on a Sunday at noon. When arrived the hostess greeted my party promptly and led us right to our table. Service was great, very attentive. I did notice I feel like people dressed a little more hip/nicer than maybe your regular local brunch place. They do a very loud birthday celebration if you want to bring a friend to the embarrass. The hojicha latte was delicious and the espresso martini was the BEST I've ever had. Keep in mind I don't usually like espresso martinis. Theirs was sweet and lots of foam. It wasn't as alcohol forward as others which is probably why I liked it. Food time; Oscar Benedict was delicious. Perfectly poached eggs, decent amount of crab meat, and the wasabi hollandaise sauce wasn't overpowering. Potatoes were well cooked and crunchy. And the garlic in the crab also wasn't overpowering if the delicate sweet crab flavor. I will definitely order this again. Millionaires bacon not pictured. If you like pork belly/thick chewy bacon with a touch of maple syrup this is for you. I loved it. Mariner French toast was delicious. One review thought it wasn't good with the bread being so thick. I thought it was pretty perfect. The balance of soft center and crisped exterior was great. It was a little one note and ultimately just a really fluffy piece of French toast. Korean Fried Chicken, we got the honey garlic flavor. These were perfect. Big, crispy, saucy and meaty. The chewy rice cakes are a nice complement to a he wings. Croffle w/raspberry and Brie was not my choice. I did like it a lot, but it is definitely a sweet savory mix. I would have preferred a different sweet dish. But the dish works. If you like brie, this is the dish for you. Tornado galbi omurice not pictured. This was good, but not mind blowing. The short rib was tender and soft. Gravy was solid. I didn't care for the rice underneath. I think it might have been kimchi fried rice cause it had a red hue. I felt like plain rice or regular fried rice would work better. I probably wouldn't order again.

Yelp
Sweet Maple is a refreshing brunch spot with innovative Asian fusion dishes that leaves you wanting to come back to try more. The decor is really nice giving the brunch/tea party vibes. The prices are higher, but the intricate dishes and flavors I think are worth it. Even with minor hiccups, this has become one of my favorite brunch spots in West LA. We started with a Millionaire's Mary which is a pre-mixed drink so when we asked for extra spicy, they weren't able to do that but gave us tobasco to add ourselves. The bloody tasted very faintly of any alcohol but the bacon was amazing. There's something delicious about eating cold meat and the fat from the bacon gave that extra savoriness to the drink. I also for the Sesame Einspanner, which had a very strong sesame flavor with the sesame oil but definitely needs to be mixed thoroughly before taking a sip. It is quite small too. Tornado Galbi Omurice $26.00 - the egg was more scrambles than silky but was still thin and tasty. The demi-glaze was delicious and the fried rice underneath was flavorful. The braised short ribs was mildly tender but nothing some sauce can't fix. Pickled onions was a nice add on to bring some sourness. Oscar Benedict $34.00 - I really loved the wasabi hollandaise here. Gave the creamy sauce a little kick. There was a decent amount of crab on top and it was overall a delicious dish. Coconut Moffle with Brie Cheese $20 - The moffle were incredible! Soft and chewy and the brie on top was an amazing compliment but I wish there was not than just a middlesliver. One of the best sweet brunch items I've ever tried.

Yelp
We found this place while charging my car in Santa Monica walking around. We looked at the menu, and decided to go in. Upon entering, your eyes automatically go towards the decorative lighting to the left, and the cream themed open floor plan with the bar like ambience in the middle. We were greeted by the host and sat down. We noticed that this restaurant gets beautiful lighting even with the construction of the building that is currently being done. So upon further research (of asking the employee questions),I found out that this restaurant is Korean fusion (I love Korean food!!!). I ordered the Balsamic Burger (with impossible meat) served with greens and water with lemon/lime. Just something simple for a quick lunch while charging my car. It's loved the burger! Nice and juicy!!! The greens were fresh and light!!! Definitely will be back!!!!

Yelp
This is the perfect brunch spot after a beautiful Santa Monica half-marathon. The ambiance is incredible, with lots of seating, and service is great and food came fast! I'll start with the drinks. I got the hot matcha latte, which was one of the best I've had--it is so creamy. The hojicha latte had such a deep, rich flavorful. Food wise, our table of 6 ordered a lot, so strap in. I had the Francis Souflegg, which had great texture and flavor, reminds me a lot of Chinese steamed eggs. The omurice and croffle were also delicious. I would definitely come here again!!
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
Sweet goodness. Best brunch we've had in LA! Chicken Croffle - two pieces of crispy delicious fried dark meat chicken on a sweet croissant waffle. Loved the fruit and pecan melange on the plate too. We stole some hot pepper jam from the Soufflegg dish and it was epic! 5+ stars! Juicy Lucy Burger - generous amount of arugula and tomato with melty cheddar and a spattering of bacon bits, spread of hot pepper jam and lemon aioli on a sweet brioche bun. Flavor reminded me of a Father's Office Burger, but just missing the blue cheese and with more spice and a citrus note. Will get this again for sure. 5+ stars! Blackstone Benedict - delish roasted asparagus and cherry tomatoes with perfect poached eggs and Meyer lemon hollandaise and the fantastic millionaires bacon. The scone was slightly sweet and worked so well. Loved the colorful potato medley. Excellent dish. 5 stars! Millionaire Candy - what it lacked in crispiness it made up for in flavor with the sweet, salty and spicy. Definitely worth trying. 5 stars. Coconut moffle with Brie cheese - two pieces of Belgian style coconut mochi waffles with two melty pieces of Brie and a tasty housemade blueberry marmalade (more like a syrup) with truffle honey on top. They didn't mention the raspberry replacement for strawberries but it was a welcome change (and there was only a handful) although the pink sprinkles might had been dried strawberries?? I appreciated the creativity of the dish but it seemed like there were too many competing flavors between the coconut, Brie, berry and truffle. 4 stars. Mariner French toast - brûléed on top with a slight grand marnier taste. The bread is very thick so only half of it really tasted like French toast. It's good if you feel like eating a piece of good bread. It could had used a grand marnier whipped cream or marmalade jam...something. 4 stars. Savory Soufflegg - the egg was a little dry and had a slight dashi flavor. Would had preferred a more custardy flavor and texture. Nice shrimp and crispy bacon. Scone with truffle honey would had been preferred to the pepper jam. 3.5 stars. Shaken black cacao truffle - tasted like cold chocolate milk with some truffle flavor. Since the caramel was served on the glass itself it seemed like this would had been a more successful warm beverage. Very elegant drink with the gold leaf, but I guess I prefer paying for flavor over fancy. 3.5 stars. Longer wait times without reservations but excellent service and special shout out to the hostess for her friendliness. We've already been back and we'll see you again soon!!!

Yelp
Stepping into this charming establishment, one cannot help but be impressed by the meticulous attention to aesthetic detail. However, while the presentation of the dishes is commendable, the flavors unfortunately miss the mark. The premium pricing of their Korean-infused brunch dishes sets a high bar, yet the culinary execution falls short. This cozy spot is undeniably a delightful venue for a brunch gathering with friends; the decor is visually pleasing, the staff is attentive, and the service is swift. Despite the challenge of finding parking, the overall concept is intriguing. However, the disparity between the price point and the quality of the dishes leaves much to be desired. The Galbi Egg Benedict, in particular, was a letdown. The Galbi arrived partially cold as if it had been left out and hastily plated without proper reheating. Additionally, the choice of a crumbly biscuit as the base for the Egg Benedict was puzzling, and at $35, the expectation for a more thoughtfully executed dish was justified. While the concept holds potential, the execution is lacking. The only highlight was the Korean Fried Chicken, which, though enjoyable, isn't enough to entice a return visit. In conclusion, this establishment needs to refine its culinary approach to match the allure of its setting.

Yelp
Beautiful presentations. Average in flavors.. I first tried Sweet Maple in SF. I was happy to see one here in Santa Monica. It was my friend's BD. She asked me to pick a place. I recommended this place to my friends. We parked in the parking structure, which said 90 minutes free with validation. My friend made reservation for the morning. We arrived and were seated in 5 minutes or so next to the door. One of my friends asked to switch table because she felt cold. The waiter was like he had to ask the host, but never did. I even recommended to put the other two tables together and move us to the middle. The waiter refused..odd & lame. Since it was my friend's BD, I didn't want to make a big deal. We move forward with ordering. Galbi omurice - we loved the presentation. This was the only item that we all fully enjoyed. The flavor was on point. Very flavorful, meats were very tender, eggs were great, and the rice was cooked just perfect. Francis (soufflé eggs) - we were all laughing when we realized what we ordered. There was nothing special about it besides the presentation. Like it was just puffy/cloudy eggs with some meats inside. They placed some potatoes on the side with a scone. The egg was pretty plain. I took a piece and done. I guess the potatoes were alright. We enjoyed the scone with butter more than the soufflé. Petite pancakes- very cutesy right? That was all to it..pancakes weren't fluffy or anything. Like eating mini flat breads, but a bit more chewy. Very plain. The sauce & butter do add a bit flavor to it. Marnier French toast - again, it was presented beautifully. Yet, it was boring. Inside the toast was a bit dry. The maple syrup was very sweet. It was like eating bread with sugar. The top burnt glaze (brulee) tasted pretty good. I only tried the black sesame Einspanner. This was good :) The waiter said he validated our parking tix, but we were charged. We left before 90mins. Weren't even close to 90 mins at all... Will I return? Maybe to another location

Yelp
One of the tastiest and prettiest brunches I've had! My husband doesn't usually like brunch and he said this was his favorite. We went on a Monday morning and it was super busy still, I can only imagine what weekends must be like! Tornado Galbi Omirice: hands down the most unique flavors! The egg was perfectly creamy around the delicious rice with sauce surrounding it. The tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and the pickled onions were the perfect side! Cloud blueberry French toast: so amazingly delicious! It was crisp on the outside and velvety soft on the inside! Kids pancake: they made it Mickey shaped with ears and it came with a side of perfectly cooked eggs. Even my picky eater ate the whole thing! Drinks are so unique here! I got an espresso with passionfruit and banana foam. Definitely want to return to this spot to have allllll of their other awesome drinks and foods!

Yelp
Cute place in long beach not far from the beach. The area has spaces for walking and seeing the parks nearby. Inside the restaurant is white with touches of color. We sat at a small table and the service was patient nice and came to check in on you. For a birthday, a loud song emits through the speakers and the staff dance around the table. It is cute. I got a blue curacao mimosa, which was a sweet sip

Yelp
I lived in the Bay Area for many years, and Sweet Maple is a well known, Tier-1 breakfast and brunch spot in the bay. I'm so happy that they've expanded to Santa Monica! Pricey? Sure. But top-notch quality and service? Absolutely. The prices are justified. Sweet Maple is a treat. The concept is a fun, elevated brunch experience. And everything is so fresh, flavorful, unique, and delicious. You can expect some of the most mouth-watering and original breakfast plates here. Let's get to the service. We were seated right away, were served by hospitable, attentive, and friendly staff members, and received our meal within 15 minutes after ordering. Exceptional service. We did have reservations, which is definitely the move if you want to avoid waiting. This goes without saying, but I highly recommend Sweet Maple for an excellent breakfast/brunch experience.

Yelp
I'm glad we got here early because they got busy quick and there was a long line waiting to be seated by the time we left. A fun twist on American breakfast. Everything on the menu sounded amazing and everything we ordered did no disappoint. No dish was safe with us. I absolutely remember coming in for brunch if you're in the area. The vibe was clean chic and all the staff was professional and friendly. Our food came out in a timely manner. Don't skip out on sweet maple.

Yelp
Overall: Hard to rate this place because it is quite expensive for food that looks great but is really very very typical. I think given how expensive the food is and how little imagination/creativity went into them I unfortunately couldn't justify a higher rating. Food: billionaires bacon was you'd expect just a chunkier piece of bacon probably baked with maple syrup. The ramen it came with was decorated quite nicely but again the dish itself is nothing extravagant or different. The mini stack pancakes were quite pleasant to see as there was many tiny layers cooked quite well but still just pancakes. If the food looks good but is no different than its original form then it's hard to get the appeal. Lastly the omurice was perhaps the one highlight. The flavors captured were a little extra than your typical Demi glacé curry esq sauce. The eggs were cooked quite fluffy but again nothing too out of the usual. Ambience/Decor/Service: the restaurant itself is decorated quite nice with nice white countertops and tables like a European seaside restaurant. The service was quite quick and accommodating for the various things we needed.

Yelp
Went here with a friend recently because we were drawn to the idea of indulging in typical American brunch items with Asian influences. Pros and cons listed below but tldr: overall good/okay food but steep prices, esp compared to other surrounding brunch spots. But hey, it's Santa Monica so I also wasn't really surprised. Pros: - We loved the ability to reserve ahead of time which turned out to be pretty convenient given we ate here on Sunday and the walk-in line often wraps around the block on most weekends - My latte actually had ube flavor (you'd be surprised how many places slap the ube name on their food/drinks and it doesn't taste like it at all) - Staff were welcoming and friendly - Inside was clean and the ambiance was lively/bright with all the big windows - Plenty of parking nearby (in the downstairs garage which can fill up quickly on busy days or metered street parking) Cons: - This place is pretty expensive. Again, I am aware of the location but $19 for a single piece of bread in maple syrup is pretty ridiculous (imo). Also, I usually enjoy the sweet+salty combo but the marnier french toast was a bit too salty - There wasn't really anything phenomenal about the flavors in the items we ordered ): I do give credit to the presentation though This was my first time at Sweet Maple and I know they're known for their millionaires bacon. I will probably give them another chance to try a different item on the menu to see if the price is justified~

Yelp
I finally had some time to stop by this place for a delicious brunch with my friend! It was in my bookmarks for a while. But the server left us waiting over 45 minutes for our check. Food Millionaire bacon: Delicious. Recommend getting this. The souffled egg: Fluffy but could be a bit more moist. Blueberry cloud french toast: SO good. Get this. It is sweet though, so if you have a sweet tooth it's perfect. The raspberry lemonade was decent. It tasted like raspberry flavor more than real fruit. The peach juice was alright. It was sweet, but may be best for cocktails. The server forgot about us as soon as we sat down and for the whole meal. When he finally came by, we had to flag him to look in our direction to ask for the menu and the check. He took another twenty minutes to produce the check after we asked. He didn't apologize and the whole exchange was awkward. Parking is offered in the garage. There is outdoor seating which is great. There are heat lamps which help with the ambiance and warmth. I wish the service was more standard.

Yelp
As a Bay Area native, I was stoked to discover that Sweet Maple opened a location in Santa Monica. This spot is a true San Francisco gem. My boyfriend and I came for brunch. I'm usually not a fan of bacon, but their Millionaire's Bacon is chef's kiss. I highly recommend trying this if you're a first timer here. I ordered the Blackstone Benedict, which comes with the bacon, and it was absolutely fresh and delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed the BTLA sandwich. Bonus points for their bottomless mimosas - they have multiple flavors and our server let us switch it up after every refill. Their service is undoubtedly good and super friendly, truly reminiscent of the SF locations where they radiate family owned vibes. We also did not wait long as there's ample seating and outdoor too! 5/5 recommend.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place, but unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations at all. On a busy weekend brunch day, I decided to try it out. I was able to get a seat, but service took so, so long and my server wasn't the nicest. I ordered an Ube latte and received it pretty quickly, however, when it came to the food, it took forever. First of all, they gave my order, the Farm Fresh Egg Plate with Millionaire's Bacon, to the woman next to me and she kept complaining that she didn't order the Millionaire's bacon and she didn't like eating it either. I had to ask my server for where my order was twice and then they gave me the other woman's order, which just had regular bacon. Finally, they figured out what happened and they had to completely remake BOTH of our dishes. When I finally got my Farm Fresh Egg Plate, it was disappointing. The plate wasn't anything special and sadly, I don't think the Millionaire's bacon lived up to the hype.

Yelp
Great service, great food, & great environment. This Korean inspired brunch location was my absolute favorite!! a much visit spot to eat for a nice brunch. Perfect for birthdays, gatherings, or a nice brunch date. The service was fast & attentive. Now for the food/drinks: Cinnamon shaken espresso 10/10: great flavor! Great tasting coffee & not took milky or sweet Oat hojicha latte 10/10: never had anything like this before! Huge matcha connoisseur & absolutely fell in love with this matcha! Blueberry waffle appetizer 10/10: great play on flavors! Basil, blueberry, with cheese! Amazing! Chicken& waffle 10/10: chicken was breaded & cooked to perfection! The waffles were a perfect size & cooked nicely Beef ribeye & egg 10/10: the gravy mixture with the egg & rice was delectable! The ribeye was a tad bit dry, but the gravy helped it! Overall great GREAT brunch spot! We came on a Sunday around 11am & sat at the bar. They had outdoor seating under the construction where you are protected. Inside was very busy & advise to look into reservations for larger parties! They played music for birthday celebrations (happy birthday song) & brought out a dessert! So cute!! They really care about their guests absolutely will visit again

Yelp
This is my new favorite brunch place! Totally worth the 1 1/2 hour drive to Santa Monica. We ordered the Tornado Galbi omurice, Gardena soufflé egg skillet, millionaires bacon, earl grey blueberry croffle,, ube latte and a Rose latte. Everything was delicious but I especially loved the croffle & earl grey blueberry sauce! I'll be dreaming about those til next time! Another great aspect of our visit was that they allowed us to bring our Dog, I truly appreciate that! Overall I love this place! Great ambiance despite construction going on. Music was at the perfect level to have conversation and still not hear neighboring diners. A truly satisfying experience! Well worth the energy of getting there! Our server Darren was right on with his suggestions! Thank you! Can you all open up a place in the San Gabriel Valley!?! ;)

Yelp
First time at this restaurant yesterday. Waitress Nancy was amazing! Great service, tasty food and the aesthetic was awesome. Definitely recommend this place. Everyone has to buy the bottomless mimosas at the table to get this service and it's for 1 hour only

Yelp
I had reservations at noon on a Saturday, but it didn't seem necessary since it wasn't crowded. The service was friendly and the restaurant was really cute. I love that this is an Asian inspired/fusion brunch spot. I had the iced oat hojicha latte was really good and strong flavor. It's so good that I could see myself swinging by here just to pick up a latte if I'm not hungry. I also tried the coconut waffle with Brie. I liked that it was nice and light. I also had gardena soufflé and added on crispy bacon. The egg was super fluffy and yummy. Solid brunch spot.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast! First of all, parking is underground the building and you need to enter on Ocean Avenue- the first 90 minutes is free with validation. Menu is so expansive- I ordered the Maple Scrambled eggs - way too much Hollandaise sauce on the eggs, scone was good, roasted potatoes were cold- 3 stars. The haas omelette was good. The best was the millionaires bacon - that was absolutely delicious-4 stars. Ambiance- the room was spacious, everything looked very new.

Yelp
My two favorite things about an establishment more than the food sometimes are comfy seats and temperature. This place had all three. My hubby ordered the "millionaire"s bacon" cuz all the servers were wearing it on their shirts. Touch of Korean spicy paste. I ordered the Korean fried chicken --original. We both thought our meals were okay, noting extraordinary. My chicken wasn't dripping with flavor and my hubby thought the bacon was bit over seasoned. But we will be coming back because it's a great place to eat and sip delish coffee (not bitter at all) and do some writing. My only major complaint - tip options. The lowest was 20%. I regularly tip 20-25% because it's a tough job working in the food biz. But when they make the base 20% it makes me not want to be so generous. I'm giving this place 4 because of the friendly service and ambiance. Ciao mein till the next bite!

Yelp
As a brunch enthusiast, I'm surprised I didn't know about this place earlier. With original locations in the Bay Area, Sweet Maple opened this location in Santa Monica just over a year ago. There appears to be some exterior renovation happening, but it's a beautifully decorated restaurant on the inside with fantastic service of asian-infused brunch offerings. Such creative and eye-catching drinks like ube latte, oat hojicha latte, and bombshell shaken espresso. All the food was phenomenal...blueberry cloud french toast, francis soufflegg skillet, galbi benedict. We're already making plans for our next brunch here so we can try other things on the menu. Sidenote: this is also a great place for a lively birthday celebration.

Yelp
I think this is my new favorite brunch spot Everything we ate from the egg soufflé to the beef tornado egg omelette dish was so good! Even our drinks the matcha latte and sesame drink... so good! I accidentally ordered the tornado rice dish bc I wanted to hot stone bibimpap, but it was really good! And this shows I was so distracted because of the decor and how lively it is inside! The happy birthday song is played really loud and a bunch of servers come out and swarm the table. It is a site to see. I think I heard 10 birthdays during my lunch experience haha! I had a great time will definitely be back. Oh and the biscuit from the egg soufflé holy moly that blew my mind! It was soooo good. Like a cornbread biscuit? Ugh!!!

Yelp
Solid brunch spot! I ordered the tornado omelette thing (check the menu) and it was great. Great flavors all around and left me stuffed. Service can be better - we got our water and coffee after our meals and we had to remind them. Had to ask for refills and ask for our wings that she forget to bring out. Location and vibe is solid too. We found parking a block away and used that opportunity to walk the park after our meal. Again, service may have been a bit off, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. 5 stars and I recommend!

Yelp
Was looking for a brunch place fairly close to UCLA and stumbled upon Sweet Maple in Santa Monica about 18 minutes away. We decided to go because of the Asian-inspired brunch options. We started with the hot Uji Matcha Latte, hot Hojicha Latte, and coffee. My favorite was the Hojicha latte which highlighted the Hojicha really well since it was balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. Service was attentive and quick (making sure to refill our waters and brought food out without much wait). We had to sit outside since there were a lot of reservations, but I had a peak and the interior was beautiful! Blackstone Benedict was really solid and filling with the millionaire's bacon. I like how their side of potatoes came with a variety of potatoes including sweet potato too. The Coconut Moffle was a surprising combo of flavor that we had never had together all at once. The Coconut Moffle (mochi waffle) was great on its own, but the addition of truffle, Brie, and raspberries gave the whole dish a complex flavor profile that was confusing but enjoyable! The Tornado Galbi Omurice tasted like Filipino Valenciana. I thought the gal I was going to be in chucks in the rice, but it was shredded on the side. Still tasty, but definitely my least favorite of the 3 dishes we got. Would love to take friends here for brunch and will be back again to try the other dishes!

Yelp
All the fruit was so fresh. The eggs were perfect, the chicken on the Croffle would have been better quality and the bacon was amazing

Yelp
Amazing Breakfast at Sweet Maple! We recently stayed across the street from Sweet Maple during a best friends trip to Santa Monica, and it became a highlight of our trip! We made reservations for breakfast on Saturday morning and had such a wonderful experience that we decided to go back again the next day before we left for the airport. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly kind, and the service was prompt. The food was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed an ube latte and great coffee, and shared several dishes including blueberry cloud french toast, mini pancakes, Oscar benedict, and of course, the famous millionaires candied bacon, which was a standout! We loved everything so much that we decided to return the next morning. Even though we didn't have reservations, we got in line before the restaurant opened, and the staff was able to accommodate us. They even remembered us from the day before, which made the experience feel extra special. This time, we tried more items, including the petite pancake platter, the savory soufflegg skillet, and the tornado gallo omurice--both of which were absolutely delicious. From the aesthetic to the food to the incredible service, Sweet Maple exceeded our expectations both times. If we're ever back in Santa Monica, we will definitely return!

Yelp
Sweet Maple is a cozy coffeehouse and brunch spot in Santa Monica, with additional locations across the area. They offer a classic American breakfast menu with a delightful Asian twist. First, a big shoutout to our incredible waiter, Fame, who provided exceptional service--truly above and beyond. For brunch, I opted for the egg plate, featuring scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes, bacon, and wheat toast. Whatever they do to those potatoes is pure magic--they were unbelievably good! I also treated myself to the bottomless mimosas, sampling every flavor. While the Tiffany Blue wasn't my favorite, the Floral Blossom was an absolute winner. My companion ordered the spinach scramble and judging by how quickly it disappeared, I'd say it was just as satisfying as my meal. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend Sweet Maple for great service, delicious food, and those endless mimosas.

Yelp
Came here with a reservation and we were able to get seated pretty much immediately when we arrived. All the food items were nicely plated and looked appetizing. We had a party of 8 and they were able to accommodate our large party. This is a perfect brunch/lunch spot to hang out and chill with friends at.

Yelp
This time l took my daughter to Sweet Maple bc I told her what amazing food they had and how I truly appreciate the customer service. My daughter order the tornado Omurice, which she said it was very good. She also had a cold roasted matcha made with oat milk. I had the Fransci egg soufflé with scallions and chicken sausage on top. On the side an assorted potato's. It also came with a scone on the side, the scone was nothing to write home about, but the rest of the food was delicious. We will definitely be back again

Yelp
So glad we decided to come here for brunch!! We didn't have a reservation and a short line stacked up in front of the restaurant. Luckily, I don't think we had to wait more than 10 mins to get seated. We started off with coffee and a mimosa flight. The coffee was delicious and bottomless. The mimosa flight came with some interesting mixes - typical oj, guava, floral blossom, and Tiffany blue. I liked all of them except for the Tiffany blue. We tried the chicken croffle and galbi egg Benedict. Both were very good! Also, had to try the millionaire bacon and it did not disappoint!! Perfect amount of sweet and spicy. All in all, we had a great experience, thoroughly enjoyed our brunch, and left very full! As east coast dwellers, I hope Sweet Maple makes its way out to a location closer to us someday.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday at around 12 noon and it was packed! We had to wait on the waitlist for about 10 minutes so it wasn't that bad. I came here for my birthday and they sang a song and gave me a cake! 4 stars because of the food. The food, when compared to the Palo Alto location, didn't taste as good. They also didn't give you as much as they do in their nor cal location.. This place has great food aesthetics as well as has a cute inside! However, the food is on the pricier end. People bring their families here. It's a great date spot as well.

Yelp
Ok followers this place is amazing. The service the food and the attentiveness to what customers need. The billionaire bacon was amazing since I've tried this other places and they messsed it up they did very good French toast was very flavorful along with my pancakes Definitely a winner here check it out

Yelp
On my, what can I say? This is my new favorite place! Wow! Fantastic service! The ambiance and decor is clean, airy and bright. I LOVED my lichee drink. It was an experiment for me to order a non coffee drink. So refreshing and pretty. The blueberry French toast! Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside with a creamy blueberry filling! My husband's coconut foam coffee tasted like it had a cream brûlée topping!

Yelp
Sweet Maple in Santa Monica is so good I went twice in one trip. The menu is nearly identical to Berkeley Social Club, which makes sense since they're sister restaurants--but that's totally fine because everything is absolutely delicious. Their French toast is carb overload in the best possible way: crispy outside, soft inside, and perfectly indulgent with just the right amount of sweetness. It's the kind of dish you keep thinking about long after you've left. Of course, they're known for their trademarked "Millionaire's Bacon," and while it's undeniably tasty--soft, thick slices of bacon coated in a sticky sweet and savory glaze--it does feel a little overhyped with the branding everywhere, including on the waiters' shirts.

Yelp
I first walked in and was greeted. The restaurant is brightly decorated with flowers on the table, clean and welcoming. Food was served warm and very tasty. Coffee is hot and refilled without a promt. I will be back. Thank you Nancy!

Yelp
Came here for brunch with a friend and we had a good time. The ambiance is very quaint. The food was very good. I had the ocean salad which tasted great with the squid shrimp in and scallops. My other friend said the Korean wings were part of the top three best wings he's ever had. The million millionaire bacon one's amazing. Overall are very good brunch experience and will definitely be the back.

Yelp
Food + service always solid. Went on weekend brunch (aka rush) and staff are always so friendly. It can get loud though, so if you're really sensitive to noise outdoor patio may be more your vibe. Got the ramyun this time and loved the presentation (minus maybe the chopsticks sticking up, maybe there's still a traditionalist in me but that's a maj faux pas in the Asian culture) Blueberry cloud toast was as magical as went I first had it. Drinks are always so whimsical, tried the crazy rich Asian this time. Gold spoon, gin pearls and dried dragonfruit. Yep she is it. One of my favorite elevated fun Asian modern spot , now how do we get yall to open in the 805? lol

Yelp
Fantastic food in a nice clean stylish restaurant. Great service. Maybe one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Millionaires bacon was great!

Yelp
Super cute and chill place to enjoy your breakfast while in Santa Monica. Outdoor seating is relaxing and you can do some people watching as you enjoy your coffee, and they do have heating lamps to keep you warm; inside of the restaurant is modern and elegant. Service is impeccable, everyone is friendly and smiley, I felt so welcomed and well taken care of. Food is fantastic. I'd recommend getting the Oat Hojicha latte, it's smooth and creamy, and quite unique. Hass Omelette is a great choice for a healthy and filling breakfast, it comes with California sized avocado slices. All omelette comes with their signature warm scone topped with a piece of butter and potato medley. I adore the scone: moist, tender and flaky, honestly I'd be happy just eating the scone. Location is super convenient, less than 3 minutes from the pier. Come here to get your breakfast then have a relaxing walk along the beach.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday for a Monday morning brunch for my daughter 21st bday. We were sat at long table by the window quite a bit of construction in the area, but the interior took over our views. Very nicely decorated. Food was really great. Nicely presented and fresh. Staff gave us great customer service and they all (8) came out and sang happy birthday to my daughter. Was amazing I'm sure this place rocks on the weekends. Give it a try.
