Meet the Bad-Ass Asian American Bakers Reshaping LA’s Desserts Scene | Eater LA

"Specializing in intricate buttercream portraiture and detailed designs, Christy Kong’s Unplug Patisserie creates cakes that incorporate flavors like black sesame chiffon and fillings such as mochi, taro puree, and jasmine tea–infused cream; Kong trained in buttercream drawing in China after attending baking school in North Hollywood and later worked across LA before launching the business. I note that Unplug Patisserie takes orders via Instagram DMs with pickups in Rosemead." - Jean Trinh

Sweet Piglet is an adorable Bakery + Cafe. My daughter had told me about this place and brought me here for brunch. The rice bowls were so delicious, Their giant Macroons delicious and my daughter loved the Tiramisu as well. Reasonably priced, quick service, polite team and super Adorable atmosphere. Loved all the 🐷 🐷 Would recommend to anyone looking to try somewhere new to go, to anyone looking to try some incredible protein rice bowls or delicious desserts. I have been back since because its well worth it.

i love this place so much! i would go more if i could. i stop by whenever im around the area (usually after one of my doctors appointments), and my fav item has got to be a sweet piglet in a box (spam version). everything they have in there is phenomenal. i also requested a custom cake from them to celebrate my graduation from dental hygiene school, and they succeeded my expectations of what i received. it was super cute!! not to mention, all staff have been nothing more than welcoming and kind to all that have come in (especially myself and my boyfriend and friend who were staring at the menu for a good minute) if you are nearby or visiting eastern massachusetts, this is a definite must if you live for delicious pastries you might not find elsewhere (such as pandan, ube, etc), love tea, and a little rice meal. i could not recommend this enough.

A super cute cafe in the middle of south MA. There is a good number of seats with cozy atmosphere decorated with cute piglet items. Recommend sitting in and spending some time there while enjoying sweets. Recommend yogurt smoothie and a macaron as well as other dessert and food items that look tasty - saving for the next time.

Food was great in the gem of a bakery. They have open faced sandwiches and rice balls. Coffee and smoothies were good too. My only criticism is that they use too many disposables. Even when eating in, we ate out of a box with individually wrapped disposable utensils straws and plastic wrapped onigiri.

We ordered a cake from Sweet piglet for my nephew’s 1st birthday. Although the email correspondences took 2-3 days, the emails always contained sufficient information ab the cost, the design, the options. The cake turned out so beautifully and tasty. We had a duck free style design with pandan flavor. All of our guests loved it, and I loved it. I also tried the chestnut cake, which was AMAZING! Their muffins are great as well, my personal favorites are the blueberry and ube muffins.

I ordered a custom cake for my daughters 9th birthday. I sent them a picture of what I was looking to do, and picked out the strawberry shortcake but with buttercream instead of whipped cream. It was BEAUTIFUL. and so delicious. The cake was firm but not overly dense, the buttercream was also firm, silky & not super sugary. It had a very very light barely perceptable coconut taste which nade me wonder if they use coconut cream or something instead of butter. The buttercream was the exact shade of blue I needed and did not taste like food dye at all. The strawberries inside were super fresh, not wibbly and squishy. The inside of the cake did have the whipped cream which was light & not super sugary. It was really the best cake and I will definitely always order my custom cakes from them. The cost was $64 and it was really worth it. I am including a picture. Please note that the decorations came from me, I did not request them. My son went to get the cake and told me that the inside is very cool & uniquely decorated. He ordered an onigiri, a tea, and I think a treat but I cant remember which. Knowing him it was probably a macaron. He said the onigiri was perfect & everything was delicious. It is now going to be a staple for when he and his friends are looking to eat fairly priced food. 5 stars, go here.

This bakery is a hidden gem! My family and I have loved everything we’ve bought from here but my personal fav is their ube cheesecake. The interior is cute as well.
