Sarah was our server and she did the best job she could given the circumstances. We ordered the sausage bites as an appetizer that came out after our meals. They were a clump of doughy something. I had the mixed peach bbq chicken with mashed sweet potatoes and French fries. The chicken was about 2 days old, dry, cold and not at all edible. I didn’t finish 1 piece. The sweet potatoes were cold, did not finish. French fries were cold and had no flavor. Everything was garnished in parsley which, was odd. My son asked for ranch dressing for his fries and grilled cheese, which they were out of and had to make that came out after he was done eating. No flavor. The kitchen staff berated our sever yelling “We are doing the best we can do” even though there were maybe 6 other people in the place. Overall, it was a bad experience and for $75, the app was taken off, definitely not worth the trip.

Great find. The food was excellent and different. I had the black and Blue Pork chop with corn pudding. Both were fantastic! Dessert was out of this world! Banana pudding and chocolate toffee pecan pie were yummy. Our server Marley was friendly and attentive. Decor was fun!

Google
Best dining experience my brother and I have had in Savannah. We ordered the blackened catfish and peach chicken, plus just about all the sides, and Sweet Potatoes delivered. Honestly, you could order anything on the menu and it’ll be delicious. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender with the perfect sweet heat. Don’t leave without getting dessert. The pecan pie was our favorite. The service matched the food. Everyone was so friendly, and the food came out quickly. Our waitress Marley was hilarious and incredibly attentive—she had us laughing all night. We were lucky enough to have her special sweet tea blend, and she kept our cups full the whole meal. You can tell this kitchen cooks with love. Every plate that came out was hot, fresh, and made with care. You could feel the pride in the food, and we appreciated every bite. I’m honestly sad to go back to New Hampshire. No more sweet tea and southern charm. Thank you to Marley and the whole team for a meal my brother and I will always remember.

Google
A local recommended Sweet Potatoes as a good place to eat. I asked is it “Soul Food” she said “comfort food”. Being from Memphis, TN, I know good food and this is NOT GOOD FOOD! We drove all the way from Tybee Island 🏝️ to eat dinner. I wish I would have read the review’s before ordering. The meatloaf was served burnt, the garlic mashed potatoes were so stiff and served cold, the chicken fried chicken was uncooked in the center, the fried catfish was not seasoned and fried too soft, the pot roast portion was so small. Chef Ramsey needs to come and help them out.I do not recommend.

Google
Was hoping for amazing southern food while traveling, but this missed the mark. I had corn meal fried catfish. It was actually not cooked completely and some of the corn meal was not cooked all the way through either. The flavor was very bland. As you can see from the picture the amount of sweet potato fries with the catfish was dismal. My wife had chicken legs with an amazing BBQ sauce, but the texture of the sauce was chunky. For the price the portions were pretty skimpy.

Google
I had an incredible dining experience at Sweet Potatoes in Savannah, GA! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with charming decor that feels like a cozy Southern hug. The menu is bursting with creative, soulful dishes—The cornbread and was absolute perfection, packed with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The chicken sandwich with corn pudding was phenomenal! Don’t skip the sweet potato's banana pudding for dessert—it’s a game-changer! Highly recommend this gem for anyone craving comfort food with a modern twist.

Google
I cannot stress this enough— if you find yourself in Savannah, PLEASE COME HERE AND EAT!! You will receive incredible food at a rapid speed. Oftentimes, when it comes to food prices, there is a level of acceptance that you are paying for a “vibe.” Here, not only are the prices MORE than affordable— you are paying for satisfying, complimentary dishes, with service at a quality rarely seen these days (THANKS AL AND SHAI for hyping up the kitchen and being so attentive). My bestie and I were floored by the quality of food and positive customer interaction. I will crave this meal and remember the kindness in the building for years to come. P.S. dessert is worth it!

Yelp
After reading the great reviews, my husband, friend and I went to Sweet Potstoes last night. We were not disappointed. I got the fried chicken (only available 3 days of the week). Usually I just eat the yummy crispy outside and some of the meat when I get fried chicken, but the here meat was so tender and delicious that I ate the whole thing. The dilled lima beans and garlic mashed potatoes were very good too. My dinner companions were quite happy with their dinners also. Of course, we couldn't leave without trying the banana pudding. It was absolutely delectable! I tried to wriggle the recipe out of the server and owner but only got a few hints. I also have to mention that our server was a very nice young lady - smart and cheerful, with no problem offering her opinions on the food when asked. Everyone we spoke with there was nice, in fact. The ambiance was fresh and comfortable and very clean. It's a great place to go for some delicious southern cooking. I look forward to coming back the next time we are in Savannah.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch a few weekends ago and had no idea this hidden gem would be the perfect lunch spot!!! We were greeted by incredibly sweet staff who were positive and welcoming. We were sat quick, as the dining room wasn't too full. I cant remember our servers name, but she was super nice and helpful too. She talked us through the menu and some of her favorites - we LOVE recos!! We took her up on the meatloaf sandwich and lima beans per her feedback, and couldn't have been more pleased. We also got a wedge salad. The Meatloaf was delicious and hearty and the sweet potato fries were delicious too. But the lima beans... OMG!! By far the best I've had in a while. They were a little lemony, with some dill, and perfectly cooked. My mouth is watering thinking about them right now!! The Wedge was also a great portion with fresh bacon crumbles and loads of blue cheese. YUM!! We will definitely be back!! thanks to the staff for a lovely lunch!!

Yelp
Sweet Potatoes Endearing Foods is an absolutely amazing southern cuisine restaurant. Their meatloaf actually ranks within my top 10 best and that is saying a lot because, I am a true Mealtoaf connoisseur.! If ya'll ever find yourself in Savannah Georgia, I highly recommend this little hidden jem! Oh, and the chocolate pecan pie is absolutely wonderful as well! This restaurant definitely recommends reservations during peak times and weekends, I visited here on the late Tuesday evening and it was not busy at all. Everyone was super nice and it was a very relaxing atmosphere.

Yelp
All Good things must come to an end. 90 A health score. The vibe wasn't the same as my previous experiences, The restaurant felt damp and Old, and update is in order from the floors to the ceiling and in between. As always the food is tasty. Service a plus. So again I'm not going give up yet, one more try later this year to see if my feeling improves the perception on good old Sweet Potatoes Kitchen.

Yelp
I had no idea this place was here! The ambience took me back in time with the decor and colors. The staff was really nice and really joyful to be around! Our waitress was really funny and helped us order our food letting us know which ones was her favorites. I got the wedge salad which was good.
google avatar

Connie L.

Yelp
Marley was an excellent, friendly waitress. Large portions, loved the roast with gravy and the sweet potato with pecan butter. My husband enjoyed the banana pudding! The restaurant is in the back past the house. Just a suggestion to paint the ceiling black; it would make the other colors pop.

Yelp
Don't come here if you're expecting good food. Absolutely awful- for the record, I'm white and this food had no seasoning. 10/10 don't recommend for a good dining experience, you might end up with dysentery- I was so sick after eating here.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here with my husband for a dinner on a Friday night. They were out of their fried chicken pieces, which was really excited to try so instead I got the deep fried cod with a side of mashed potatoes and the corn pudding. My husband got the fried chicken breast with mashed potatoes and french fries. For dessert we shared the banana pudding. Overall, everything tasted really good! The corn pudding was too sweet for my liking, but still good. They run pretty lean with staff so service was slow but still kind though.

Yelp
I came to this place to get some chicken gumbo and they were out. Bummer but I understand that happens. I wasn't wowed by this spot but it was ok. Parking: Our GPS took us to a back lot that I assume is for employees. I'm not sure what the parking is like in the front.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the barbecue page chicken and it was absolutely delicious. The lima beans tasted as though they came out of a can without seasoning. The Harvard beats were small dried beets without the vinegar sugar butter clay seasoning that make it Harvard beets. It was very disappointing. The vegetables used to be awesome. I don't know what happened.

Yelp
Came here for some lunch w my parents, my mom said she'd been here many times for work lunches and such, and said it was very good. I checked out the menu and I loved the look of it. Although the reviews, not very nice. Being in the F&B industry you know how it goes, but seeing how this restaurant handles stuff was a little chaotic. They got very busy and the host kept sitting people, they should've gone on a respectful short wait to catch up. Our server was literally running to her tables to take orders and deliver food. From what I assumed, I see the manager come out and go behind the bar and make himself a drink (idk if it was alcoholic) but that's the last thing he should've been doing. Help run food, bring waters to tables, refill drinks, clear plates out of the way. The food was decent, the vibe is good, they just needed a little help. I would love to give this place another shot because I can see the potential.

Yelp
The last time I went, the food didn't seem as fresh as I used to be when it was toucan café, but I had the Moroccan salmon which I always used to get, but it was missing the orange pieces. Hopefully, the next time I go back, it'll be a delicious as I remember.

Yelp
Southern Comfort Food Done Right This place has become my go-to spot for lunch when I'm at the firm. Every dish I've tried here has been fantastic! I've sampled several of their entrees, including the hamburger steak, country fried chicken, meatloaf, and ham steak, and each one was absolutely delicious. They all come with two sides, and I always opt for the dilled lima beans - they're honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten. I also enjoy rotating through the other side options like black-eyed peas, collard greens, side salad, and Brussels sprouts. They do an excellent job with takeout orders, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming.

Yelp
Oh, how the mighty fall!! This restaurant for many years provided a delicious twist on "meat and three" concept by offering a variety of foods in traditional ways but with a little something extra like an unusual blend of spices or a slightly different ingredient to a staple. But when it changed hands recently, the name remained the same and some items on the menu stayed but the prices went up, the portions became smaller, and that little extra flair was gone. It became MUNDANE. Last night we ate here for the first time in several months. Although we did come early (before 5 pm) we were only a party of four and only one other small party was there. The service was VERY slow despite several servers the few customers. The second thing we noticed was the prices were up at least $2 or more for each entre. Okay, we could forgive that one---prices are just going up. But when the plates arrived, the food looked lonesome on the plates. Each item seemed segregated to a portion of the plate presumably to make the portion appear larger, but in effect it brought attention to the smaller quantity of the food. Under the previous owners, I could count on taking half of my food home to enjoy again, but last night I left food on the plate because there was not enough to take and it lacked the enhancements and proportions that made it worth taking home again. I know it is hard making a living in restaurants, and this was such a good one for simple fare cooked right. I somehow hope you find the right balance to make this place work for you.

Yelp
Mixed reviews on this place. People are super friendly and willing to share recommendations. The food was flavorful; I had the pecan crusted chicken (comes with one breast for all chicken dishes), garlic mash, and Brussel sprouts. The garlic mash was delicious but the roasted Brussel sprouts were mushy. We asked for corn bread and we should have skipped it. The texture was crumbly and not in a good way and was drier than the Sahara dessert. Also, not sure why some of them were an inch or so thick and others were a quarter inch. All of them were the worst corn bread I've ever had. After we ordered, we waited about 20 minutes before they came back and told us they were out of some of the sides. Three of us had corn pudding but they came last minute to tell us they were out. While the chicken was good, we all mentioned that we wished it came with one more piece to make the meal feel full. The saddest part, in my opinion was that they have on their menu and website they have a top rated banana pudding, which is the real reason we were excited to come, but they were out. Would have loved to know that at the beginning as well. Wish they were out of the cornbread instead of the banana pudding. Plenty of parking.

Yelp
Nothing special, food was mediocre, my order was wrong. Very friendly service but I would not come back

Yelp
Without reservation we decided to "come early" for dinner on a Saturday evening. The place closes at 8, so we arrived slightly before 6.30. Smoke parking and there's no line which is a good sign. There were 2 other parties in front of us though. Soon after they seated the 1st party and we were told to wait (no specified amount of time). We were probably waited about 20ish minutes before we got out table. The place is packed. Lots of people came after us and had to wait for tables as well. I was getting worried as I read past reviews while waiting but decided to stick with our venture. We were not disappointed! My fried chicken is super moist even though it was chicken breast. The taste is spot on and the right crunchiness as well. The catfish is flaky and light. My husband enjoyed his Jerk chicken. This is super rare because chicken is his least favorite meat, so for him to compliment a chicken dish it must be VERY good

Yelp
We stopped here on the way home from nc and it was SUPER FAST! It was great so we could eat and relax for a bit and get back on the road. I ordered the buffalo sand which and it was SO good. My boyfriend loved all of his food! I was not a fan of the garlic potato's so my boyfriend ate them up lol. Super quick service and kind waitresses. The place is super cute.

Julie H.

Yelp
Sweet Potatoes has a pleasant atmosphere and a very nice staff. However, I ordered the blackened salmon to go, which was a mistake. I was given a small piece of salmon, sweet potatoe was soggy, and green beens were old and overcooked. Perhaps dining in would be better...I've been intrigued by this place for a while. I'm disappointed that they did not live up to my expectations.

Yelp
Was immediately greeted at the door with a warm welcome and hello. Justin the server was very attentive and understanding of his guest taste and needs. Food was freshly made and had that authentic southern homemade taste.

Yelp
Sigh. This place is not good. At least it wasn't good on Memorial Day weekend. Despite being empty they tried sitting us in front of the kitchen. Then they put us at a tiny table against a wall. Our food took forever and was quite sad when it arrived. The catfish po' boy BLT was piss po' small, soggy and missing bacon. The buffalo chicken salad was barely a salad and the chicken was tough as all get out. At least the sangria was good. The waitress took it in stride, apologized and said it'd do better if we came back during the week. Don't think we will.
google avatar

Sandy A.

Yelp
Wow! Traveling I-95 and saw the reviews of this wonderful place for lunch! Definitely worth the distance from the interstate. Had the Moroccan Salmon and the best banana pudding ,since I was a child, for dessert! Our waitress was awesome too
google avatar

Erin L.

Yelp
I waited to be sat outside. I ordered a drink and also asked if I could put in a food order. They said someone would be back. I waited another 15 minutes and still had no drink not did anyone come back. When I went inside to see what was going on a shorter lady with gray hair commented, " we can't be everywhere". Very inattentive and rude service.
google avatar

Yelp
I saw them on a YouTube video and wanted to try them out. I had the chicken leg quarter, green beans, garlic mashed potatoes, cheese grits, cornbread, and banana pudding. It was all great and I didn't need to season anything. Dianna was my server and she was also fantastic. We had some interesting conversation and she made sure everything was perfect. The other staff were also friendly and welcoming. I wholeheartedly recommend Sweet Potatoes Kitchen!

Ina K.

Yelp
It used to be quite good. I understand there is a new owner now and the quality is way down.I was there with eight other people recently. one friend had to send her food back three times because it was either way overcooked like shoe leather, or nearly raw, nearly still mooing. Everybody agreed the quality and serving size was really poor. We were there at 6:30 on a Saturday night and we were one of just three tables. You need new cooks and management that cares.
google avatar

Ashlyne T.

Yelp
You ever had your mouth watering for food ppl raved about and be disappointed. Walked in was greeted warmly, great colors on the wall, read the "home message " was seated. Great so far. Waitress was friendly and warm. Excellent, even if there's no pink lemonade. :( ordered my food... mouth watering...lol. It's here, yes, I'm digging into this potato salad first Nooooooo, dill pickle taste, why ... not happening. Bite of the catfish, noooooo pure salty. Sip my Arnold Palmer mmmmmmmmm tried the potato salad again and catfish yeah this is wrong for my pressure that I don't have. I was scared to try the biscuit and fries but I actually enjoyed that. When my waitress asked " do you need a box" the look I gave her said it all. I paid for my meal, tipped and left. I should've ordered the salmon lol
google avatar

Bombshell B.

Yelp
The Ambiance Was Smooth. The Service was ok/Felt A Tab bit rushed. The food was ok.Some things Was hot and somethings was cold. The biscuits was the STAR! I didn't complain!I just dealt with it. My visit wasn't bad to the point where I can't try it again. It was for the most part clean but there was a few flys hanging around but it wasn't overbearing.
google avatar

Yelp
Saw this place on Utube channel JOLLY. Stopped in today around 1:30 pm. Overall experience was 3.5 stars. Cucumbers were amazing. Vegetable plate was just barely warm, corn pudding was too thin, brussel sprouts were old ( been cooked and sitting in warmer too long. Fried chicken however was very hot, moist and delicious. Had their FAMOUS banana pudding for dessert. It was hands down the best EVER. It is unique. Will most definitely stop by again to get Banana pudding to go, wouldn't eat there again. Oh and sweet tea was good, right amount of sweet and tea flavor.
google avatar

Leah K.

Yelp
Love love love sweet potatoes! These guys made my family feel so great when we walked in, some of the waitresses were a delight with my children never made us feel awkward for bringing Littles in. But the real star here was the food. Just phenomenal, good southern fair everything was great! Can't say enough good about this place.
google avatar

Renee L.

Yelp
This is not what the reviews show. The people were very nice but the food just wasn't what we thought it would be. The jerk chicken is literally small cut pieces of chicken breast with jerk seasonings. I was expecting bone in slow cooked jerk chicken. Portions are small and they don't even have the fried chicken anymore.
google avatar

Darwin M.

Yelp
Let me just start with not a bad looking building on the outside, but the inside is very dated.. The hostess was nice and polite . She recommended the jerk, chicken and sweet potatoes, which I ordered. And she also said that their biscuits were very delicious.. but to my surprise, my food was not desirable. I was very disappointed in my jerk chicken it lacked flavor and size. It look like three little chicken tenders that they gave me from the kids menu. The biscuit that she raved about. Was dry, cold with no flavor. Sweet potatoes were okay I guess , but that was about it.
google avatar

Diana R.

Yelp
Good food, good service. Home cooking at its best. Biscuits melted in my mouth. Pecan chicken was tender and moist Restaurant did not dis appoint Great waiter. Ill be back for more comfort food!

Yelp
Local to Savannah now for 3 years and finally made my way here to eat. I've heard good things and also a fan of Man vs Food so I was excited. That slowly faded away as it took almost an hour from walking in to food being served. This was a Tuesday at 1pm so it wasn't slammed busy. The meatloaf was very loose and almost runny and on the small side. The sweet potato was nothing special and also on the small side. I noticed all the plates were to come with a biscuit and my plate didn't have one and I had to ask. So underwhelming and with the long wait I didn't even bother with the banana pudding. I unfortunately won't be returning.
google avatar

Rachelle A.

Yelp
Sweet Potatoes is one of our favorite spots to eat in Savannah! I actually daydream about their banana pudding . Great service , a Savannah local treasure The ambiance is quaint -clean & always crowded
google avatar

Yelp
We just moved to Savannah and our 3rd night here we visited Sweet Potatoes Kitchen the food and service was excellent. It's great to try out new restaurants that aren't chains. I totally recommend SPK!
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Sorry but I don't understand how this restaurant has such a high Yelp rating. I had high hopes going here for lunch but what a disappointment. Service was friendly but kind of slow. I ordered the fried catfish w/potato salad, side salad and biscuit. The potato salad was tasty but a very small portion and the biscuit was the smallest biscuit I've ever seen. The fish, again good, but just one medium size fillet. All for $18.50? I left hungry after spending well over $20 with tax and tip. Not a good value.
google avatar

Gina D.

Yelp
So mad I didn't take pictures but this place was amazing! Not fancy but real home cooked southern food. Every dish was amazing! The biscuits were moist and flaky the sweet tea was perfect! The Jamaican jerk pork chop was out of this world and so tender not dry like a lot of places. The banana pudding is to die for. The first day we went the staff was A1 second day we went I think the waitress was new bc she seemed unsure at times and a bit over whelmed by our party it was 4 adults 2 kids a baby and a teen so 7 who ate but she did a good job even though she seemed to be new. I can't wait to go back bc the food was out of this world
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Place was super good. Getting it to-go I got smaller portions than I expected. I absolutely recommend the fried chicken, mash potatoes and collard greens. The grits were not that good. Overall I would come back, but I wish they'd give me more for how much I paid.

Paul H.

Yelp
After another try at our old favorite restaurant, I think we're done. Two chicken dishes were both dry and over cooked, and under seasoned. The portions were small and the prices have gone up on the new menus. Apparently all the other regular customers have also given up, as the parking lot was empty on Saturday night. The wait staff was very inexperienced, though pleasant. The owner/manager looked like a homeless person that had wandered into the restaurant off the street - not exuding any confidence in the preparation of my meal. The men's bathroom had a large puddle of urine in front of the urinal, where the drain had apparently stopped. Each dining room features a large computer monitor that flashes advertising as you enjoy your wine - something I'd expect to see in a truck stop. July 2025

Yelp
Marley was our server today and she was amazing. I had the mashed potatoes, collard greens, Lima beans, and mashed sweet potatoes. I think I would have liked the mashed sweet potatoes better if it had some pecan butter. The veggies were all seasoned well. All the food was hot. My husband had the pork chop and mashed potatoes and cheese grits. He said all was good but thought pork chop was small for the price. I would recommend better sign so people don't miss it. I would go back.

Yelp
If you like peach cobbler, banana pudding, and/or cookies, you've come to the right place!!!! Everything we got was fabulous! Variety is the spice of life, so we got the sample with two puddings and two cobblers. They were all delish! The cookies were also wonderful. Our son enjoyed their sweet peach tea as well.

Yelp

Yelp
The staff is amazing. On my first visit I had the salmon w Harvard beets. Then for dessert I ordered banana pudding . I'll be returning for more.

Yelp
Took a trip to Savannah, Ga and saw there were good reviews for this restaurant. My friends and I decided to check it out. The special that evening was fried chicken. None of us ordered it but we probably should have. I had a vegetable plate with marinated cucumbers, sweet mashed potatoes and cornbread, My food was okay. It was seasoned but didn't give me any major aha moments. Our server was really busy but attentive. She was very sweet and assisted us through the night.

Yongyan W.

Yelp
The pork chops still raw in the middle , wouldn't recommend at all , the waitress was very nice.

Susan H.

Yelp
Wow! The Moroccan salmon, sweet potato, and corn bread were the perfect choice for this out of towner! Service was great and the atmosphere was very relaxed.

Yelp
10/10 recommend and will be back many times before I head back to the west coast in a few weeks. We arrived 15 minutes before closing, not realizing they "close" at 8 pm. We were met with friendly greetings, assured it wasn't an issue and seated. Server, Jessica, was as friendly as could be and not the sickly fake kind. She helped us make our menu choices as we were undecided. Good was fresh and quick. The fried catfish was so crispy and flaky, large piece not several small ones, and the porkchop topped with blue cheese was so thick and juicy, cooked perfectly. The sides were . Garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potato fries, and corn pudding. Dessert... take a look at the photos, they speak for themselves. Homemade and amazing! Watch for next review of the next menu items and I assure you deserts again.

Yelp
We had heard about this restaurant and wanted to give it a shot. The location is kinda out of the way. The people were very friendly and the place was home town like. I just didn't care for the food.
