The 19 Best Places To Eat In Reading Terminal Market

"You’ll probably take in a lot of great smells in the market, like sizzling chicken or espresso from Old City Coffee, but the cinnamon-y scents coming from this Black-owned bakery beats them all. They have almost everything made with sweet potatoes that you can think of: sweet potato pie, cheesecake, cupcakes, and pound cake, and it’s all delicious. Come here for a treat to end your day, a quick pie run when you’re on dessert duty for game night, and every day in between. " - candis mclean, alison kessler

Google
Sweet potato cheesecake is good, and I love that they use real ingredients such as butter and eggs! 😋 I'm seeking and reviewing the best local businesses in every geography, for Localverse (from Bethlehem, PA). Now adding Mia & Maddie's Bakery to the list! You may freely reuse all photos and text in reviews contributed by Localverse, and make them better. License: CC-BY

I had an amazing trip to Philadelphia for the first time. To end the trip I decided to have dessert at Sweer T's bakery. The owner was very friendly and give me the history of the bakery and gaining access to the crowds at Reading Terminal. My favorite pie has always been the sweet potato pie. I tried his pie and quickly realized he added a twist to the pie I'm use to eating. His crust was made from graham crackers, though different it added to the amazing taste of the pie. I'm sure the rest of the desserts are also amazing. If you are in the Philadelphia area, you must give this place a try.

Google
This family-run bakery is the first black family-run bakery in Reading Terminal Market. We saw so many types of sweet potato pies and just couldn't decide. Then I saw the sugar free sweet potato pie. It was the sweetest sweet potato pie and i still cant figure out how it was sugar free. You stand in line along the the food counters, order, pay at register, and receive your order. Great service!!! Free wifi. Accessible restrooms in central market area.

I saw this business on Instagram and I'm down with supporting a Black Owned Business. I roll into Reading Terminal Market and it isvright there. I told the sister it was my first t ice and I came to support the business. What does she suggest. Well she never lied@., the duo pack Sweet Potato Pie and Sweet Potato Cheesecake was AWESOME! I will definitely be making this a frequent go to spot when in Philadephia.

Google
Sweet T's is a must stop. Not just when your visiting the market, its a must stop when visiting Philadelphia. I met the owner (Mark) and told him I will spare no expense on the judging of his pies. To make a long story short, I bought pies everyday from him. His pies are truly special and brings me back to my childhood!

Google
First time purchasing from them and I enjoyed the mini sweet potatoe pies. They aren't too sweet. Will be purchasing again.

Google
Stopped at Sweet T’s while in Philly. Their sweet potato cheesecake and sweet potato pie are the best I’ve ever had. If you are in the area, you gotta get your sweet fix from Sweet T’s.

Google
Lots of sweet potato goodies: pie, cheesecake, pound cake, cupcakes. There were a few other flavours of mini pie as well. I couldn’t decide between a the pie and the pound cake, but since the pies are only sold in packs of 2 and I was just buying for myself, I went for the pound cake, which I was very happy with. It wasn’t too sweet or oily (a lot of the desserts in the market looked like they were going to be both of these, so this was a relief to find), had a dense but tender texture, and mellow but very pleasant and natural sweet potato flavour. Even though it was a big piece of cake it didn’t sit too heavy with me. I was helped by one of the owners who was very kind.

Yelp
Sweet T's sweet potato pie has become quite famous in the revered list of places to check out in Reading Terminal so when I had the opportunity to stop by on my latest Philly visit I had to check it out. The young woman at the counter was very friendly and kind. The double small pack of sweet potato pie was $6.50, Have I had cheaper? Sure, but I don't think pricing was unreasonable and I felt fully justified in my purchase one a took a bite of this slice of heaven. This sweet potato pie was perfection and here is why: - The crust was moist and flavorful in graham cracker texture, but still provided substantial crunch. Love the balance of what I believe was brown sugar baked into the mix. - The sweet potato pie was indeed sweet, but not overly so! What was highlighted was the sweetness of sweet potatoes and not a bunch of sugar. - You could taste the texture of actual sweet potato in the pie mix. - The pie was perfectly baked. Not undercooked or burnt. Truly if you're curious about Sweet T's sweet potato pies you just need to come to service and live this religious foodie experience yourself. Even better is that you are supporting the first black owned bakery in Reading Terminal too! I can't wait to come back...

Yelp
VERY GOOD sweet potato pies! And a local business. Was my favorite business in the Reading Terminal Market.

Yelp
It's the perfect concept: A mini pie to eat right in the market. This sweet potato pie is perfection. Seriously this might be the perfect sweet potato pie. Perfect texture, perfect level of sweetness, it just hits every level. I've had the apple and I love that too. But I might just get that sweet potato pie every time I go now.

Yelp
Walked by this the first day I was in town for a conference and made a mental note to come back by the time I left - boy, am I glad I did! The woman working the counter was very nice, and the pies were delicious! I bought a double pack of the sweet potato. They could have less sugar in my opinion, but I always half mine in recipes and know that's not the norm for the general public. It was still delicious (love how you can taste the cinnamon), and I would definitely recommend them to others and come back to get them if I'm ever in town again! I had one for dessert and saved the other for the next morning with coffee.

Yelp
The sweet potato pie is very good. I found the cheesecake to be bland however, with very little sweet potato in it. Also, this is the first time I ever was charged tax for baked goods, which I don't understand.

Yelp
Located inside the Reading Terminal Market, Sweet T's is a great place to stop by. Friendly service, delicious pies, and decent prices! I tried the sweet potato pie, which came in a two pack. At first, I was wondering why it was the only one (I think?) that came in twins. But after having one, I get it. It's so good. Wonderful spice flavor throughout the pie and crust. Texture was silky smooth too. I finished it in 3 bites. Definitely a must try if you're in the area!

Yelp
Best sweet potato pie i have had. Also got the pineapple upside down cake. Both super delicious! Highly recommend! Excellent with coffee.

Yelp
I love the mini sweet potato pies! They have a good sweetness and hold a good crust texture.

Yelp
Sweet T's made me leave my insulin at home. I have never had mini sweet potato pies taste good like this. I was almost on my hands and knees pleading with them not to sell me anymore pies. These things are addictive. Honestly, I purchased 8 mini pies, and my wife ate 5 of them. She told me that she was just looking out for me. When I come back the next time, I am bringing my chair, a pillow, and a blanket! I am camping out right in front of the counter. The service was excellent. The staff was friendly, courteous, and understanding of my addictive ways. The place is in the rear of the Market, in a cozy area, and my experience was so fulfilling. I will be back, trust and believe!

Yelp
I met one of the owners, Mark and he was such a great guy! I came for the sweet potato pie and it did not disappoint! It was my second time being in Philly and my first time ever to Reading Terminal Market. I was so impressed by all of it. The sweet potato pie was creamy and delicious. I ate one of them in the two pack right on the counter. I had to know! lol It was so good! Like really really good! I took the other one home with me on the plane and had it the next morning for breakfast. I added some whipped cream on top. Oh yeah! When I was done, I was sad that it was over, but happy that it happened. If I was in Philly all the time, I would certainly be a regular. Super awesome is also the fact that Sweet T's is the first black-owned bakery in Reading Terminal Market. Makes me even happier to support such a great business. Thanks for the pic, Mark! See you again in a couple of months! Like Arnold said, "I'll be baaaaccck!"

Yelp
Delicious mini sweet potato pies sold here. We enjoyed the original and the cheesecake sweet potato pies. Great customer service!

Yelp
Their sweet potato pie was incredible, I definitely will be back soon to try more. They take EBT which is great and the woman at the counter was so friendly.

Yelp
Wish I could have tried one of each pie but our time was limited and there was so much to try all around. I appreciate the variety pack. My suggestion is to try the variety pack and then go back and decide what you want to buy more of. I liked the sweet potato pie but my son liked the sweet potato cheesecake more. Both are good but not overly sweet which I really like. The crust was hard to cut with the plastic spoon so I suggest you pull the entire pie out and eat it like a tart. After sampling the pack I went back and bought 5 more to share with my family later. The person working was so nice and kind enough to explain everything on the menu. I definitely would come back and try the other pies. Great service and yummy pies!

Yelp
I wanted to try something new at the RTM because I always get the same exact things . I've had sweet potato pies before and I've always really like it .. so I got the sweet potato pie and sweet potato cheesecake mini pack and I was not disappointed at all . This was perfectly sweet but not too sweet and delicious . Will deff be getting this again in my next stop there !

Stefani K.

Yelp
They're known for their sweet potato pie which was very good but I was a huge fan of their 7 up pound cake! So moist and not too sweet with a crumble topping

Yelp
I REALLYYYYYYYY love sweet potato pie. I REALLLLLYYYYY love the Sweet T's sweet potato pie ... so much so that I've followed this business from a small shop in South Philadelphia on 22nd St to a food truck parked at 24th and Passyunk to a food stand in the back of Reading Terminal and now to the beautifully decorated space at the front of Reading Terminal . The owner would often encourage me to try her other products but all I wanted was that sweet potato pie. One day I stopped by Reading Terminal intending to shop shop shop so I stopped at Sweet T to get my sweet potato pie and a "walkable dessert" . Yes ... a little on the go snack. I ordered a slice of 7 up cake then started my rounds but 2 stops in, I realized my "walkable dessert" bag was really light, oh that's because it was GONE. So I backtracked and got two more slices of the absolute delicious 7-up cake (with a light lemony drizzle) continued my rounds and headed home with my a small piece of my second favorite dessert.

Jonathan F.

Yelp
Got the sweet potato pie with graham cracker crust. By far the best thing I've eaten in Philly. 10/10 recommend. One of the best pie crusts I've ever had.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with Sweet T's. I bought a little sampler box that had an assortment of treats. It was so good!

Yelp
She was selling her lovely bake goods on a Friday holiday afternoon- I purchased the sweet potato pound cake and 2 lil mini cheese cakes!! HONESTLY DELICIOUS. Both taste like a secret RECIPE TO DESIRE!! . TY!

Candy O.

Yelp
You NEED to go to Sweet T's Bakery in Reading Terminal market!!!! I got the sweet potato pie and sweet potato cheese cake combo pack!! First of all, the total for both was like $5!! So, it's affordable to try something new, if you're at all weary of sweet potato desserts!! They both were INSANE!!! Soooooo delicious. My two friends and I actually went back to the counter to talk with Miss T (the baker and owner) about how AMAZING her desserts were! Now, I'm planning to go back during Thanksgiving week, and pick up a couple full-size pies to take home for our celebration! Be sure your time in Philly includes Sweet T's Bakery! You will be so happy!

Lorraine G.

Yelp
I have been going to this bakery since it opened and each time I am hoping it will be better. The cake is dry dry dry!!! I always get the 7 Up cake. Mine taste 10 times better but I do not enjoy baking. The sweet potato pie has a good taste but it has strings in it which is a big No. No fun eating and pulling string out your mouth. Listen I enjoy eating sweets at my age 73 and when I splurge for this stuff and at this price it should be darn good. I think Friday was my last morning giving my money to sweet t. I have to bite the bullet and make my own. Also the guy waiting on us is very nice but he always ask if I have EBT?? WHY???He says EBT, Credit or debit. No I do not have food stamps. I pay with CASH!! I wonder if everyone is asked how they will pay in that order. I do applaud Sweet T for having her shop in Reading Terminal and wish her all the best.

Robin S.

Yelp
My sweet potato pies were so delicious they were made to perfection. Very very good. You will not be disappointed.

Autumn D.

Yelp
Friendly and patient service, absolutely delicious sweet potato pie. I got the combo pack of sweet potato pie and sweet potato cheesecake; next time I'd skip the cheesecake and have two of the regular pies. They offer sugar free varieties but I didn't try those because... sweet potato pie, come on

Kelly M.

Yelp
Just tried the mini sweet potato pie and the sweet potato pound cake! AMAZING! Make this a reg stop on your RT run.

Margaret D.

Yelp
My first sampling from Sweet T's in the Reading Terminal Market was a sweet potato cupcake with cream cheese icing. The cake had a light and delicate texture with just enough sweetness to feel celebratory. I did opt for the cream cheese icing on top and it was rich but not cloying. The only disappointment was that I had finished it all before I could blink. Now I have my eye on the delectable-looking sweet potato pound cake on their menu at sweettsbakery.co.
