"We’re big fans of this sustainability-first spot, which is growing like crazy. The focus is on local farmers, proper sourcing, and environmental respect, which is also reflected in the hands-down delicious food. Besides the build-your-own salad bar, the bowl-centric dishes range from Mexican-inspired salads to basic cobbs—and in the true spirit of transparency, they reveal calorie content, too. Come lunchtime, the lines extend around the block."

I frequent sweetgreen and am a huge fan of healthy establishments like this. However, I placed a pick up order for two custom salads totaling $50+ tonight and am very disappointed with the quality. FYI neither salad was mixed in, so the funky color on the salads are not from the sauce. Really off putting when a salad restaurant puts out ingredients that have gone moldy and slimy!!! 🤮🤢 1 - 1 of the avocados we got was simply moldy. The other avocado is on the verge of turning moldy. You know when avocados are so old they are yellow/brown? Well mine had a layer of gray covering. 2 - salad was yellow, brown, and slimy. It had clearly gone past its prime and had spoiled. I’m quite livid they were able to serve this to customers. Fresh salad can get expensive and have short shelf life, but even the ones I keep in my house don’t turn slimy and yellow until at least after a week. Also, with the volume of salad SG goes through, I’m shocked they let their salad get to this state. 3 - bread several days old. Now, I can tell from most of the sg locations I’ve been to they have been paying less attention to the quality of their bread, but this one just tasted like it was at least 2+ days old. 4 - portion size. I’m not sure if this is bc I placed a pick up order, but I feel that when I order in person, I get way more food. It’s just laughable when you pay $3-4 for the three different warm extras and they give you 3-4 pieces for each ingredient. I usually frequent the midtown (56th+broadway) location and have not had problems. Besides decreasing portion sizes and increasing prices that seem to be plaguing SG, I don’t believe I’ve ever had an issue with food quality and quality control, but this experience was so poor idk if I’ll want to be returning for a while. See pics for your reference. This is a food safety & health hazard, sweetgreen.

Very nice salads, fresh, hearty, tasty and healthy. The Menu is confusing but I just took what I wanted and it was good. This is a place, I will add to my Menu, Expensive though!

Manhattan Girl

Google
These were the nicest workers I have ever encountered at a Sweetgreen. The girl who made my salad was so sweet and informative! Great customer service and space to sit and enjoy a salad indoors on a very hot day.

Great place to get a salad. Fast service, plenty of options, reasonable price. Gluten-free bowls too.

I just paid 18$ for this old looking avocados! Portions are off quality went down so much . They took off sweet pass

Google
I love this lunch spot! This is my favorite salad spot. The various options of veggies and protein are great, and the food is always delicious and fresh. The staff on this location is so so, when I was there for the first time I felt very rushed and wasn't informed of any of my options by the staff. The other time I ordered ahead and wanted to check my order was done with the cashier but she was talking with another worker and just ignored me. The biggest downside is there are not enough tables? There are plenty of sitting areas but no tables, which is just super inconvenient. Do keep in mind this place gets packed during lunch hours!

Google
Our guy that took our orders was grumpy. No smile, no help, and didn’t want to be there. He couldn’t speak up and we couldn’t hear what he was saying about the sauces and nuts. It was 7pm. It was my first visit in a sweetgreen and he ruined the experience. I got crispy rice bowl and the new steak bowl. He gave one small scoop of everything. The chicken were tiny pieces. Steak was barely there. For $40 I expected better quality and service. Just got mostly arugula. Stale cold bread is unappetizing and chewy.

Google
I got the salmon bowl (i think it was ginger or miso i don’t remember now but delicious with the cashew sauce!) Loved this location! I was well informed about my options and the person who helped me was really kind. The location not too far from here uses only kiosks which was an experience I didn’t enjoy. The real people who offer real service at this location are awesome. I really hope they don’t make this one into a kiosk dominant ordering system like they did the one on 7th Ave.

Yelp
Can't express my gratitude for one specific Sweetgreen here in NYC. I went in person to place a decent sized lunch order for employees at Disney and they went above and beyond to be accommodating and prompt. Panda & Komi were the leads of this location and their professionalism, energy and knowledge were super polished and up to par. This area has Google & Disney in a close range and these are the types of business's we need to accommodate the community! Panda even re-iterated that they care very much about the local community and always have their best interest at hand. I will continue giving our business to such a lovely and wonderful establishment at Sweetgreen the 315 Hudson Street address. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!

Yelp
Shroomami is where it's at! Tons of flavor with shrooms, tofu, almonds & all kinds of deliciousness Service was over the top nice making sure to ask if there was anything we didn't like, wanted more of, etc.... Huge bowl. Hugely filling. Get the shrooms!!

Yelp
Terrible found bug in salad don't go here. When I went back to tell them about it the workers started laughing and were amazed and how big it was instead of caring about my health .

Yelp
My opinion, they have best salads. I just love their Goddess ranch dressing. Staff is always amazing/ helpful. Business always clean.

Yelp
Love the location near grand central! All of the staff is always amazing and helpful!

Yelp
First time trying Sweetgreen and last. Picked up an order with the quinoa, chicken hot honey. There were barely any veggies and mostly quinoa! On top of that - long black hair! Disgusting!

Yelp
I'm genuinely frustrated after my recent visit. The food was overpriced for what you get, and honestly, the portion sizes barely justify the cost. It's like they think charging more means you'll get better quality--newsflash, it doesn't. And don't even get me started on the dressing. I asked for extra, and it's like they gave me a thimble's worth. Every single item seemed to come with an inflated price tag, and they nickel-and-dimed me for things that should be included. If you're going to charge this much, at least make sure you're providing something worth it! Would not recommend.

Yelp
I got the harvest bowl delivered from here two days in a row since they were close and the food is very healthy. I wish there was more protein and it was not as dry.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid Sweetgreen location. They are very fast in preparing orders. I got the chicken Parmesan bowl this time. It looked a little messy when I opened up the lid but it was super yummy. Would order from this spot again.

Yelp
As far as ambiance goes, this is my favorite Sweetgreen location I've visited so far. It's spacious, has plenty of comfortable seating, and has great visual decor. I've never had a bad meal at Sweetgreen, and the warm taco bowl I had was no exception. My only complaint is the server forgot to put warm quinoa in the bowl, and they had an attitude when I went back about it.

Eric H.

Yelp
Giant sign on the sidewalk advertising caramelized garlic steak. Multiple signs inside advertising the same. Waited in line. Created my bowl. At the last minute they tell me "no steak". Seriously? I just wasted 10 minutes on BS promotion? Do better, that's an FU to your customers.

Yelp
I Had the warm chicken and goat cheese bowl. I loved it but when reordering I would change to romaine lettuce or brown rice. There was a little too much arugula in it for me. Other than that the person who made the salad was very nice and helpful when asked questions about add ins and dressings. I even ate there it was cute and very clean. I'm def going back. Love me a salad!!!

Yelp
This is one of the only salad bar I go to in NYC. I have ordered harvest bowl more than 10 times and just got my sweet pass to get a $3 off everyday. Recommend order online to save time for waiting. It's a clean and spacious place that's good for hanging out with friends. I often tag along with my friends here.

Yelp
Do NOT order to-go from this Sweetgreen. I ordered a green goddess salad. I picked it up and my immediate thought was "why is this so light?" Upon opening I realized EXACTLY why. It's was all lettuce/kale with almost none of the included toppings. I got two tiny pieces of sweet potato, a few pieces of carrot, none of the chickpeas or broccoli and 1/4 of the container of included almonds. A waste of my money! What gives sweetgreen?!
google avatar

Soonie P.

Yelp
My daughter went into the Northbrook, IL location on Sunday afternoon, July 7th, and was told to leave, because they had too many online orders and could not take any walk-in order. This restaurant actually turned away walk-in customers over online orders. How idiotic and unprofessional!

Tommy T.

Yelp
If no stars were available, that would have been my choice Absolutely disgusting, filthy place. Food scattered all over the counter and floors. Absolutely no Customer service. Waited 15 minutes to order then another 20 minutes and still no food. Walked out and will not be back. HORRIBLE

Yelp
I have been a Sweetgreen customer for years, particularly when I was living full-time and working in NYC. Now, when I come back to the city I look forward to getting my favorite salad, Guacamole Greens. For several months every time I've gone online to order my go-to, I find that there are no avocados available. Not much of a Guacamole Greens if there isn't an avocado. I usually find myself disappointed and end up with a lunch that isn't what I craved! So yesterday when I went online and placed my order I was so excited to see that I didn't get a message that there was an item not available. So here I go, $25 for a salad and a Spindrift. A lot for lunch, but I'm psyched! 20-25 minutes later my order gets delivered and first I find that there's no Spindrift then I open the lid to find no avocado and a pretty measly salad. I reached out via the website and got a $5 credit. C'mon! Hardly a concession for my lousy and disappointing lunch with no drink and no "Guacamole" in the Guacamole Greens. I don't understand how as a nationwide chain, they don't have avocados always available. I never have any issue getting them in the grocery store and surely they work with suppliers who have them readily available. It feels like bait and switch to have something on the menu where the key ingredient is missing, especially when you don't tell the customer. Sadly, my craving for Sweetgreen is gone!

Yelp
Ordering seemed a tad chaotic. Most salad places I've ever been to the workers move in single file, but these salad artists kinda switched around so people who were in line a few places behind me wound up in front of me somehow? Also, one of the people I came with, the woman who took her salad order just.....disappeared without a word which made the girl who ordered confused and a bit concerned. Lol. Regardless, the line moved fast. Interior was cute. I got the Super Green Goddess, which had Black lentils, chickpeas, roasted sweet potatoes, raw carrots, spicy broccoli, shredded cabbage, raw beets, roasted almonds, baby spinach, shredded kale, and green goddess ranch. The salad's here are a bit hearty and heavy (I was surprised to see that there were only a few strictly vegetarian options available on the menu). This was the perfect thing on a summer's day. The dressing was creamy and herby but still on the lighter side. There were lots of textures. The sweet potatoes were roasted a little much, but overall, the salad was well-balanced, and HUGE. Would order it again. Committed the cardinal sin of Yelp and forgot to take a picture before I ate. But trust me, it was pretty! I really wish we had this chain (or, just more salad chains in general) where I live. A great place to come for a light lunch or dinner quick when you're in NYC!

Yelp
I used to get a salad from the Vanderbilt Avenue Sweetgreen location 1x week. There customer service is terrible. On multiple occasions they have been out of key ingredients to their most ordered salads and when you ask if you can substitute for something else they tell you that you will have to pay extra. Today i ordered their harvest salad and they told me they didn't have wild rice or any other grains. They were cooking in the back. I asked if i could add something else for the missing wild rice - and they told me i would have to pay extra since the rice is "free". How is the rice free to me if i don't get it in my salad and have to pay the normal price??? The manager also didnt seem to get this. When i go the car dealership and I ask for a certain model with a sunroof - and they tell me i can have that same model but with no sun roof - i would get a lower price. Sweet Greens hasn't figured this out yet apparently.

Yelp
So I heard so much about this place so when I finally got a chance I was excited... :-/ Yeah I wasnt impressed. Got the guaco greens salad no avocado. This salad is supposed to come with a jalapeño vinaigrette. This " jalapeño vinaigrette " does nothing to your taste buds. Its very citrus-sy ( yeah I made up that word) I was expecting a spice or kick to the vinaigrette. The chicken wasnt dry its roasted. If I come back I will try another salad but definitely with a different vinaigrette.

Yelp
We have ordered Sweetgreen salads at work for four years now. In the last year, the quality of the chicken meat has drastically changed. It went from yummy grilled chunks of white meat to a dark, fatty grizzle. It's literally inedible. Every location served this "chicken" now. We wont order from there again.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good but overpriced salad, Sweetgreen is your place! I usually choose one of the salad options from their menu, since it is always more expensive to make your own, and then I make a few modifications. I like the green goddess salad without raw beets (their raw beets are just too "raw"/crunchy) and substitute the dressing for the spicy cashew dressing. Pictured here is a make-your-own salad that I based off of the shroomami salad. It has kale, quinoa, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, tofu, raw beets (would do raw almonds next time), mint, and spicy cashew dressing. It was really good! When getting salads delivered, I typically ask for two dressings on the side since one is never enough. I actually prefer the prices and salad options at Just Salad, but I enjoy Sweetgreen from time to time too.

Yelp
This was my first visit to a Sweetgreen. It was a Saturday at 10:35am. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Plate. I enjoyed my meal while watching pedestrian traffic and listening to what may be new age techno tunes. The staff was pleasant and helpful. At that time, I was the only customer with a few others coming in for pick-up. It was great tasting and plenty of it.
google avatar

Yelp
Sweetgreen is always a good choice, especially if you want something delicious with a good amount of vegetable. Their menu changes with the season, there are some staples like the harvest bowl, if you want more flavor then the chicken pesto bowl. In the summer I like the watermelon bbq chicken bowl. There is something for everyone and you can even create your own bowl. The food is always fresh and very filling.

Yelp
Confession. I love sweetgreens almost as much as I love y... anyways, a sweetgreen a day makes the bad health go away. Or at least I'd like to believe. Good? Yes. Healthy? Yes. Overpriced? Af. It's become the new norm to pay 18 bucks for a salad. But what can we do. Think of it as an investment in your life. Either pay 8 bucks for chicken over rice at a cart, tastes good but destroys your health. Or pay almost 2.5x the amount for something that actually tastes GOOD and is good for your health. I realize the older you get, you have to start investing in yourself, your relationships, your career, and your salads. This is an investment with delayed gratification. Your 40 year old self will thank you for the thousands of dollars you spent on salads not on drinking. Btw, shameless plug, that online shopping habit is costing you thousands a year. If you had invested that, think how much your money could grow. Joindough.io lets you buy stock on every website you shop. Invest in salads, invest in stocks, invest in yourself, and invest in reading my reviews. All of these will result in exponential returns

Yelp
Ordered the Brussels and chicken seasonal salad as well as the hot honey chicken and they were both delicious and a good portion size.
google avatar

Gloria F.

Yelp
I was really nervous at the resoundingly bad reviews for this sweetgreen but I think it's better than that. I'd ding a bit for cleanliness, restocking of items on the line and the too much focus on online orders. But in general a very good salad and super healthy ingredients. Compared to chopt, toasties and just salad, I'd go with sweetgreen all day long.

Yelp
The SG flagship in Flatiron, their first ever location in NYC. I remember reading about DC's Sweetgreens years ago, and wishing they'll open one in NYC. Fast forward to now, you can't imagine the NYC landscape without SGs everywhere. I enjoy this location for their efficiency and convenience. I don't go during prime lunch hours, so am able to avoid the crazy lunch crowds. I tend to order in-person during off-hours, and see the bowls being assembled, which is the best way at avoiding mistakes. Ingredients are fresh, taste great, plenty of toppings so you can get something different every time. I'm a DIY fan, and usually opt for the blackened chicken, sweet potatoes, beets, avocado and their green goddess ranch or miso sesame ginger dressing. Typically feel great after eating a bowl, too! SG is pretty innovative and always comes out with new seasonal flavor combinations. Overall, an excellent salad or bowl option, that's still one of my go-tos in this great cityscape.

Nina R.

Yelp
The glazed salmon bowl was not fresh. Also just a note on the atmosphere: very loud, on a busy street, with a 20 foot tall double door with a slow close mechanism, so every time someone comes in or out (every five seconds) there is a long blast of cold air, and I imagine that in the summer a blast of hot city air. Of course not the fault of any workers, just a symptom of the epidemic of a one size fits all lunch chain.
google avatar

Yelp
My first trip to sweetgreen and definitely my last. I placed my order ahead of time for pickup, and while the process was simple enough, from the minute I picked my bowl up I knew I was in for disappointment. It felt like there was nothing in it, and when I opened lid I was proven right. The portion was far from the filled, colorful bowls they advertise. My salad was also drenched in a ridiculous amount of dressing, though I asked for the regular amount. The flavors of everything weren't bad, but I was extremely underwhelmed and wish I had spent my $17 elsewhere
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
My first Sweetgreen experience because I don't believe in paying $15 for a salad. I just happened to be lazy around this time and am currently on a diet so this was one of the few options I had to stick to my diet. I ordered via DoorDash, but picked up the order. I ordered the Chicken Pesto Parm, which came with roasted chicken, spicy broccoli, tomatoes, shaved parmesan, Za'atar breadcrumbs, warm quinoa, baby spinach, Sweetgreen hot sauce, and pesto vinaigrette. Overall, this was surprisingly filling and tasted pretty good. Most likely will come back if I'm feeling lazy about making my own salad again.
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
I love sg. I used to order from there 3-4 time a week. This past few orders and they don't fill the bowl at all it's like half empty. Really disappointing

Mary Ellen P.

Yelp
did takeout. Order two kale Caesar salads with chicken. We had to throw them out. Salty, chicken was rubbery and fatty. Absolutely disgusting. I will never eat here again.
google avatar

Jack W.

Yelp
Don't usually buy salads, but I really wanted to give sweetgreen a try. Finally stopped by today to try the Spicy Thai Salad. The line was a bit long and the wait took around 15 minutes. The Spicy Thai Salad was really good and I loved the combination. I usually don't spend this much on salads, but I would say it's definitely worth it - filling and tasty. Definitely coming back here!
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and had no clue that they have different menu items for online and in person ordering. If you know all the ingredients to the salad you want you obviously can order it but who does that. Not sure the concept behind that but it is.... weird. The service is quick and unfortunately there weren't too many people in there due to Covid. The ingredients are fresh and for the price you get a good portion. The kale is my favorite since it holds up well to the dressing and other ingredients. These salad places are a staple of the NYC lunch scene and I hope Covid goes away so they can be packed again!
google avatar

Amelia Z.

Yelp
Taste: 3-4 stars Timeliness: 5 stars Portion: 1 star I ordered from here a few times this year. The portion has been so small this whole year. I used to love them. I gave them five star before. The UES location where I ordered the same thing recently, the portion was much bigger than this. This is $15 btw
google avatar

Jesus S.

Yelp
Great salads. Only thing I don't like is the price. A bit expensive for a salad. I get guacamole greens frequently and I like it a lot.

Leslie C.

Yelp
always fresh always clean. it's a busy weekday location but moves quickly. nice little seating area and haven't had a bad salad there ever. i go 3x a week!
google avatar

Derek M.

Yelp
Went for dinner tonight. Asked if my five year old could use the bathroom. They said no. Took him back to our apartment And then came back for food. They said everything was packed up so they couldn't make me anything. Maybe the food is ok but I didn't get to try it. The attitudes in the place are certainly awful.

DA M.

Yelp
Food was tasteless and sparse. I also ordered a side of focaccia bread and hummus. Bread was stale and hummus was tasteless. No thanks.
google avatar

Yvonne H.

Yelp
The staff who served me pulled her mask down while working in the salad bar. She robbed her runny nose before putting her mask up and gloves on. I found a hair in my salad bowl when I ate half of the salad. I feel the overall sanitary in the store is bad and I didn't enjoy my meal from Sweetgreen as much as before and I would probably not buy from Sweetgreen again.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
ordered twice both times they didn't include any dressing for salad. $26+ dry salad meal - not tasty or acceptable. Told me to reach out to Uber. Never again.
google avatar

Lena V.

Yelp
I used to get lunch on a regular basis at Sweetgreen: It was expensive for a salad, but you got a nice salad. Over the past year, it has been worse and worse: the toppings portions have gotten tiny and I can't justify paying $14 for a bowl of kale. The penny pinching is sad and obvious: Shroomami salad is no longer using Portobello mushrooms. Making your product worse by penny pinching and driving away customers is counterproductive.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
I always get pick up here and have never had any issues. The bowls are huge, delicious, and well-worth the $13. I particularly like this sweetgreen because I think the customer service here is AMAZING. I pre-ordered a bowl on Veterans Day, but was unable to actually pick it up because of the parade. I waited 30 minutes but could not find a way to cross (an unfortunate situation, I know). Eventually, because I had to get back to work, I gave up on my sweetgreen. On my way home, I decided to drop by and see if my bowl might still be there. Unfortunately it wasn't, which made sense because I'm sure they throw out the bowls after a certain time to ensure freshness. However, the people there were SUPER NICE and made me a new bowl. I really appreciated that and haven't felt more positive about a sweetgreen than this one before. Highly recommend this location, and sweetgreen in general for a hearty, delicious salad.

Eric G.

Yelp
I Just left your Astor Place location, I was the only one in the store....ordered the honey chicken bowl, the server tossed it together in literally 2 seconds, had the personality of flea......didn't ask if I wanted a bag.....nothing. I guess he had something else to do?? Got home and the bowl looks half empty......seems like someone eat half already!!! Not the first time ordering from here but will certainly be the last time. I am not interested in policing a properly prepared food bowl. At $16.28 for a take out bowl of some quinoa, a few pieces of sweet potato, a mouthful of salad and at best a 1/4 of a chicken breast, i will need two bowls for dinner. NO THANK YOU....... !! Gets better, food is cold, salad is warm and the sweet potato is burnt!!
google avatar

Erica K.

Yelp
I'm a fan of sweetgreen and salad restaurants, as I'm pescatarian and usually wait in line to order it for lunch. But man oh man, this was such a bad experience. Sweetgreen needs to fix their online user experience when a customer is modifying their order because apparently this location ran out of avocados. When I told the guy at sweetgreen his attitude was like, "it's not my business, I can't substitute another ingredient for the avocados portion." The reason why I originally ordered the salad was because of the avocados, and now you're telling me that I can't substitute an ingredient because you ran out of something you were supposed to have? I think I might stick to Dig Inn.
google avatar

Sue S.

Yelp
Came here before going to a soulcycle class for lunch. the lines are always pretty crazy but goes by rather alright (10minutes maybe?) you can either customize your salad or go off the one that's preset on the menu. the salad itself is on the pricier side but they do give you a lot and it's pretty good! there's seating inside with a refillable water station so bring your water bottle. overall, the staff is alright but this place isn't amazing or "out of this world" like everyone hypes it up to be, it's just decent. don't mind coming back here.

AMY H.

Yelp
Harvest bowl was great. Want to come back and try other salads/bowls. A chain restaurant, but good for a quick healthy lunch.

Yelp
Sweet green in general has a way to make you feel so boujie and healthy. I love their quinoa. I always go for arugula with quinoa blackened chicken. The goat cheese is so good I wish I could top my salad with all the time. I don't recommend the bread it's not that good plus your there for the salad not the carbs. Let me not forget a notable mention the chickpeas are to die for.
