Horrific experience. Usually there are no issues as many of our colleagues go to this place for lunch. However today, October 20, 2022, at around 4:20pm, went to order a salad. While in queue, I questioned the service staff why he is making my salad so slowly when other patrons before me had already gotten their salad, paid and left. Instead of the person I inquired answered, a colleague of his, a female service staff spoke very unprofessionally and questioned my inquiry noting he is new. Her behavior is unacceptable especially working in an area such as Hudson Yards. Instead of apologizing, she raised her voice and defended the male staff. Is this appropriate behavior for a staff at Sweetgreen at 10 Hudson Yards to give half the portion while spooning items to the bowl, consistently chattering with their colleague, not take heed that patrons are pressed for time while ordering and speaking to a patron out of line when not being addressed. A regular patron such as myself questions the ill intentions of both staffs. No harm intended for being new, but not even being apologetic for the delay or explaining the person is new is unacceptable, unprofessional and should not be tolerated. Both staffs need to be educated on etiquette especially they are in a service industry. Gratefully , I spoke to two highly reasonable and professional managers who understood my sentiment and situation. I suggested to them that the two two staffs, especially the female staff who had an atrocious attitude, demonstrated bad behavior and acting in defense for her colleague without understand the situation should be educated in manners and hospitality. A very disappointed customer after today's experience.
