"Instead, on Sundays they’d spend most of the day in bed, ordering in Sweetgreen if they couldn’t remember the last time they had vegetables." - Meghan McCarron

We were greeted by whom I assume was the manager, and told that someone would be with us in just a moment. I usually prefer to create my own bowls, but I was disappointed that you could only pick four toppings at which I assume you would be charged for additional toppings. As someone who likes a bowl full of veggies that was disappointing. So I went with One of their bowls it had quite a few of the toppings in it that I wanted. I got the barbecue chicken bowl but I subbed the tomatoes for cucumbers. I asked for extra dressing, but I should have made sure I liked it first. Lol. It wasn’t horrible, but I wouldn’t get it again(The dressing). Everything was fresh and had a nice crisp. I really enjoyed the chicken. I was quite dissatisfied with the portions. I definitely felt like I could have used more greens. There was too much empty space for the price. My fiancé got a different meal and he enjoyed his especially the honey? Mustard dressing. The potatoes were great as the chicken. He would have gotten the wild rice instead of the quinoa. The manager came to our table to ask how everything was and we had a nice conversation with her. Customer service was great, everyone was friendly. Prices were expensive. We paid $42 for two bowls and two bottles of water. My fiancé did get extra chicken.

Food is everything. It’s a chain but an absolutely amazing one

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sweetgreen at 14th St, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked in, the restaurant's cozy and welcoming ambiance drew me in. The cheerful decor and the soothing background music set the perfect tone for a relaxed dining experience. The star of the show, of course, was their incredible selection of salads. As a health-conscious individual, I'm always on the lookout for fresh and nutritious options, and they made me feel a great experience. The variety of salads on their menu was impressive, offering an array of flavors, textures, and unique combinations. I got the chicken teriyaki which is served with blackened chicken, roasted zucchini, yellow squash, spicy broccoli, raw carrots, basil, shredded cabbage, baby spinach, and sesame teriyaki dressing. I added pesto dressing and it was simply amazing. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Another aspect that impressed me was the restaurant utilizes eco-friendly packaging and sources its ingredients from local farmers whenever possible. It's heartening to support a restaurant that values the environment as much as it does its customers. In conclusion, Sweetgreen is a gem of a salad restaurant in DC and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Whether you're a dedicated salad lover or simply looking for a healthy, flavorful meal, this restaurant will not disappoint you.

I ordered delivery via Caviar. For $17.25 this was a poor man’s bowl that looked like it cost $5 to make. Half an unseasoned avocado (not even cut up), overcooked salmon, giant chunks of cucumber that look like they were cut by a 5 year old, pickled red onion and a bunch of rice (more than 1/2 the bowl). Very unimpressive and overpriced for what it was.

Google
Love the salad here and how they make healthy foods so delicious!

Google
Literally paid $18 to get 3 pieces of chicken in my buffalo chicken salad… like what? I paid extra for the steelhead fish, but there is like basically no chickento be found. What a waste of money.

Google
Sweetgreen really has its act together and this location is a prime example This one has massive cafeteria seating which makes it less "cozy" than other locations but I imagine they need it for peak times (I've seen it mid-full at mid peak, I can imagine what it's like during peak ) If you've never done sweetgreen you might want to consider it Fresh and when possible local ingredients in a "as healthy as one can be" in large turnover environment Tasty too Staffed well

During my visit, I encountered a server named Tonya Ramaya who provided me with extremely poor customer service. She initially informed me that my pickup order would be ready in 5 minutes. However, despite the restaurant being empty, I ended up waiting for over 15 minutes before my order was prepared. As I watched other online order being prioritized, I informed Tonya that I had been waiting for quite some time. In response, she laughed and casually mentioned that it would be another 10 minutes before my order would be ready. This flippant response caught me off guard and made me question the level of professionalism and customer service being provided. Feeling dissatisfied with the situation, I decided to proceed with placing my order in the walk-in line instead. However, as she handed over my order, she attempted to scold me as if I were a child, saying "don't ever do that again." This condescending tone further added to my disappointment. As a loyal customer who values prompt service and respectful communication, this experience fell short of my expectations.

Yelp
It's the Best in food and Customer Service around town. The layout and ambience is quite nice in the Capitol Hill location, as well. Thanks to the Staff for everything . . .

Yelp
I come here once a week and get a delicious harvest bowl. The food is fresh, the service is efficient and friendly, and I like being able to eat healthy for fast casual. My favorite staff member is Jay who always cheers me up when I come through with her friendliness and personality. Even the music is pretty nice. Never had a problem and I'll keep coming.

Yelp
It's hard to rate a place's food quality when I couldn't even place a freaking order! I was having trouble with online and asked (via text after 10 minutes navigating an unhelpful phone system) if I could place an order via phone and was flat-out told NO! I'm like, adios, I'll find another restaurant! I hope that business model of telling a customer NO works for ya.

Caroline A.

Yelp
I love sweet greens. No matter the location. The taste and quality is consistent throughout. I always get the crispy rice bowl and sometimes add avocado. The service is great, even during the lunch rush they are working hard to get people in and out.

Abraham H.

Yelp
Love sweetgreen. Hate it however, when a tatte is next door. Identical prices and more interesting salads plus more to offer. Never returning to SG.

D A.

Yelp
I've had better salads. I've had better salads. I've had better salads. Sorry that's all I have to say. Specifically, the chicken was rancid. The veggies were mediocre. The dressing tasteless. I've had better salads.

Chelsey J.

Yelp
The customer service was good, the employee working stayed with us and completed our order and was very patient. As for the fish bowl, it was really good. The food overall was really refreshening. It was light but it still fulfilling. I absolutely love that they added the salmon and shrimp bowls to their menu and will be back to try the others.

Real R.

Yelp
It always smells so good here. Customer service is important to me. And I appreciate it when get it. Thanks Martina.

Da C.

Yelp
They are extremely expensive. They won't substitute bread for crumbles. They charge $1.50 for extra toppings. They have a water fountain but don't offer any complimentary cups. I deleted the app. I don't order online. And it's the only way to get points. No sense in having it.

Monica P.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years however never had any issues. However they have a new system typically I had scanned the app on my phone to pay. Now they have a new set up and apparently ask for a tip no problem. However I do have a problem with the lady who decided to add herself a tip to my salad without my knowledge. I told her the reader was not working . She pressed a button give herself a tip without my consent.

Gabriel A.

Yelp
Yummy salads! I got the chicken parmesan salad and my significant other got the fish taco salad and we were both really satisfied. My favorite things about it was the size and how many ingredients were in the salad. They really make eating healthy delicious! I also love how I don't feel bloated after eating here. Not only does the food taste amazing, but the presentation is simple yet really appetizing! Something that can be really hard to achieve with salad bowls these days. My only complaint is that I wish that it came with more dressing, I just don't think that one little cup is enough to cover all the greens. But this is easily fixed by just making sure you ask for another cup when you order.

Molly K.

Yelp
I have been a sweetgreen devotee for nearly 10 years. I am horrendously disappointed in my order today. I ordered two salads, one was incorrect and both were only half full. The most disappointing was the customer service which does not exist. Their only mechanism for service is a text bot that doesn't respond.

Rachel W.

Yelp
This place seems to just close whenever it feels like- really frustrating for your loyal patrons who order online, show up and store is closed! I get it things come up, but this has been twice now I have been able to order and pay online and its just lights out there :(

Meaghan J.

Yelp
I love Sweetgreen and I really keep trying to make this one work since it's so close to where I live. But every single time I order from here, something is wrong or missing. Every. Single. Time. Whether we order online or in the store, it makes no difference. After 3-4 very frustrating encounters I'm finally done with this location.

Ikeem F.

Yelp
I've had sweet greens many times and this was the worst experience ever. Order a door dash order and it was COMPLETELY wrong. I ordered a Cobb salad and did not get that. I added blackened chicken and did not get it. I have no salad dressing added. I spend money on a salad that is completed wrong and was made with no care.

Katherine L.

Yelp
I like sweet green because it's locally-focused on produce and has exactly what you want for a salad stop. However, I was unexcited and a little disappointed in this location. There was 1 person dining in and half a dozen people in line for ordering. There were 4 staff working the line and/or in the back. However, it was the most unorganized, messiest and slowest sweetgreen, ever. On top of that, sweetgreen has a focus on salads, right? Turnover is high, right? Greens should be fresh, right? The arugula base for my salad had so many yellowish, wilted and/or black spotted leaves, I was shocked. Shocked. I expect that from other non-salad focused establishments where salad is a bad word. I do not expect that from a sweetgreen. The end of the weekend in springtime, when everyone is on their health kicks for more salad, it would be ok if they ran out of items (some of the containers of veggies were noticeably empty or practically depleted), but to serve what I consider un-serveable arugula?! I was picking them out of my salad about every 3-4 bites, and I do not pick up huge bites of salad at a time. Perhaps it's just this location, but with so many sweetgreen choices in the DC metropolitan area, I am unconvinced in ever seeking to return to this one.

Emmanuel E.

Yelp
Can't wait to order this honey hot chicken salad again! Plenty of chicken, extra dressing and arrived warm

Alexia H.

Yelp
Pretty good salads, I always go for the harvest bowl. My one complaint is it's not filling. The location is convenient being right off 14th st but not literally off 14th it's in the cut like on a side street. The inside is really clean which is great. The staff is cool, not the best but they've never been rude. The drinks are TERRIBLE, like don't waste your money. If you're tempted to try them then do just that, ask for a sample. They're really watered down and not flavored.

LaKisha B.

Yelp
Love, love their salads! I could eat one everyday but of course I would go broke lol. Ordered my salad via the app and it was nicely prepped and waiting for me.

Rut N.

Yelp
This Sweetgreen location is one of the worst locations in the DC area, if not THE WORST. I'm talking about food quality and FRESHNESS. Today is the third time I ordered here and it's NEVER great. The chickpeas are really hard and bland -- it is supposed to be GOOD. The vegetable isn't the freshest. It is really SAD because they should have a standardized supply chain. If you don't mind detouring a bit from this location, go to the Dupont Circle and 19&L locations.. they are much better! So sad that this location is lacking quality and freshness. I would avoid this sweet green location at any circumstances.

Jina S.

Yelp
Just take all my money, why don't you?! I am here at least once a week since I work a few blocks away. My colleagues and I will usually place online orders. However, I've gone in during peak lunch time and there is never a long wait. The food is really fresh and I always feel pretty good after eating one of their salads. My favorites are the chicken pesto parm or the kale salad. Just a warning - go light on the dressing or on the side. If you say medium, it will literally DRENCH your salad. I get that people have different dressing preferences, but I will never get medium again. The service is always so good. I could tell the manager really pays attention to all the employees. Everyone is positive and smiling. I once re-used my paper bag to pick up a few salads for the office, and the employee who took my order didn't charge me for my extras! I will point out that they did forget to put tofu in my colleague's online order that I picked up (and didn't notice), and they gave her a $10 credit as soon as she complained through her app. OK, and finally, I am so glad they have compostable bowls and utensils. Perhaps they can come up with a way to have more eco friendly lids instead of the plastic.

Domonique B.

Yelp
My Lunch of convenience & honor but of COURES I'd much rather devour something super savory. Service is usually good and the produce is ALWAYS fresh. NOTE: They do NOT accept cash so pack a card!

Jewelle M.

Yelp
They are a salad restaurant Chipotle style. You pick your greens, and add your veggies and proteins. They mix in the dressings to your liking and you can have added premiums to your salad and there you go! I love that they have their staple salads and their concept is farmers they know and trust! What a concept! Healthy food that tastes good! They even put the grams of sugar on the signs of their drinks. Even though the daily recommended dosage is 8 grams a day. We consume way more than that. 15 is not bad but, it's better than worse! I hope they can make their way down to Richmond, VA. But, I can look for parking for this place!

Ling X.

Yelp
SWEET: If you're looking for a healthier but filling meal, this is the place to go. There are a lot of options to choose from, or you can just build your own..and each salad comes with a piece of bread just in case you aren't quite full from all those veggies and grains. There's a blackboard wall that shows you where every ingredient is sourced from, which is cool. BUT NOT SO GREEN: I wish they offered a more sustainable option for dining in - I would prefer to have an actual bowl to reduce the amount of waste afterwards. The utensils are compostable, but certainly not the plastic bowls/lids (different bowls are used for the warm bowls, but still have a plastic lid). I'm pretty sure I was asked "for here or to go", so this seems to be a pointless question if I was getting disposable container either way.

Brandon H.

Yelp
I LOVE Sweetgreen. I'm a bodybuilder and I eat Sweetgreen while prepping for a show. The salads are so unique and delicious that I actually consider it a treat to get one!

Mashell B.

Yelp
Talk about salads- this place has it all! Sales with meat, salads with fish, salads with salad - all kinds can be here for a small fee. The fee is not standard so be sure to look at the sign before your order. Some salads are relatively inexpensive and some dollars can be up to $5 more expensive. All of them are delicious though! If you don't like salads, it's not really a welcoming place. My husband cannot eat anything he gets from here because he doesn't like the color green. The thanksgiving bowl was good for him, he had some of the sweet potatoes and also liked the gravy dressing, but in general he thinks I order sweet green too much. You should too!

Lucy D.

Yelp
Love this place . Just putting down 1 star to get your attention! I just stopped by to get a salad. I saw a roach near the grains and alerted my salad-maker-person. She was really embarrassed by it and apologized profusely. I did not want to make a scene for her -- still got a salad and paid for it. So did the long line of customers behind me. They saw the roach too. I'm a fan but I want to make sure the manager or someone got the message. Doesn't seem like something to take lightly... I lingered for a bit and did not see her talk to anyone about it.

Tati L.

Yelp
Rude manager.. I made a complaint and she had an attitude. I also agree with the previous review that the portions are smaller. I have seen a lot of turnover of employees at sweetgreen and when there is peak hours the mployees rush to prepare the salad due to being understaffed and the portions become even smaller since they don't want to run out of ingredients and cook more.

Erika M.

Yelp
I LOVE sweetgreen. I've been to this location many times and I've always had a wonderful experience. The staff is very friendly, the service is quick, and the place is always clean and in order. Lately, I have been on a Harvest Bowl kick. It's a delicious blend of kale, wild rice, apples, sweet potatoes, almonds, goat cheese, chicken, and balsamic. Unfortunately, today, whoever was chopping the kale must have been in a hurry. My salad had sizable pieces of stems in it. Really messed with the flavor and texture!

Sydney M.

Yelp
I love sweetgreen, but this particular location has left important ingredients out of my salad on my past several visits. I like to order through the app, so it's not until I get home that I realize it is missing chicken, goat cheese or avocado. I have never experienced missing ingredients so consistently at other sweetgreen locations. The good news is, if you let them know, they credit your account.

Marisa F.

Yelp
Sustainable food , healthy eating , next door to the gym ... Eating here just makes me feel good about myself . They have their mainstay salads and please try the falafel. After you try it , it's hard to go for anything else since you know it's just so good . They also have seasonal salads and a list of farms on a chalkboard that tells you where your food is coming from . The ambiance is clean and its self serve ( no waiters ) . There's a frozen yogurt window as part of the restaurant . The employees have always been sweet , warm , and welcoming . I also recommend their rewards program . You can get the sweet green app and it gives you three dollars for each referral and you get a free salad for every $100 you spend along w a birthday salad .

Sharett K.

Yelp
Extreme customer service! Employees push the salad and make sure you are knowledgeable of their food and nutrition. However I was a bit disappointed that their cold pressed juices are 10 bucks. Other juicers are half the price! I tried the detox which was an overload of ginger and hard to swallow. I will be back to try their salads and other options, but not overpriced juice. The one upside is that if you download their app, you get a $5 in store credit towards your purchase.

nikole s.

Yelp
When you have a complaint about this store. Clearly it's not a concern to the management team to respond back to the customer in a timely manner. Sad.

Pegah Y.

Yelp
I generally really enjoy sweetgreen, but this location was not up to par with expectations. I visited to order a Kale Caesar salad a few months ago and they seriously skimped on toppings! The salad barely had any chicken and they also skimped on the dressing. It basically felt like all they gave me was lettuce! And it was expensive! I essentially paid over $10 for just lettuce. No, thank you! I'll go elsewhere for salad in the future. Other sweetgreen locations have been much more generous with their toppings.

Kimberlee L.

Yelp
I have been coming here regularly for years and my first disappointment was tonight. I ordered a Kale Caesar and an Elote Bowl. The gentleman began making my salads when the girl behind me in line also ordered an Elote bowl. Hers got made faster than mine and then they had no roasted corn left to make my salad. They asked me if I wanted it without the corn. The whole point of the salad is the roasted corn. They did not offer to give it to me at a discount or even discount my Kale Caesar to make up for the inconvenience. And they set the salad aside to save for what or who?? I left very disappointed in their customer service. This place usually has stellar customer service but not tonight.

Sam G.

Yelp
Worst to-go experience since Covid began. Never will I give another $ to this garbage establishment. Piece of advice: when your salads suck, take my money whatever way I am willing to give it to you.

Leslie L.

Yelp
Ordered online. Super quick and easy. Had to wait a few minutes got my order to be prepared, but hey at least I know it was fresh. I had the create your own salad and it was amazing. For $9.50, you can't beat it.

NU E.

Yelp
Super COVID friendly. You can order on the app for no extra charge. They give you a time estimate - usually around 15 minutes. You go into the store for completely contactless pick up. In and out in 5 seconds. Food is ready quickly, is super tasty, and is very healthy. My new addiction.

Alixandra G.

Yelp
This location has the best customer service hands down! Nelly at the front is so kind and patient, recommended my new favorite salad! It's clean and has a good location for finding parking.

Alexis T.

Yelp
The food is great and the staff has usually been friendly. Staff member Yeimy and manager Ruby were super short and rude to me when asking about a customized salad. I won't go into detail about the incident because I have already contacted their corporate office, but I'd like people to tell me that I need to pay more for my Miso glazed vegetables with a lot less attitude. It was unnecessary, and the Ruby the manager was unhelpful, equally short in tone and sent me off with a super sarcastic "have a nice day". Not my favorite experience here...

Ana-Maria J.

Yelp
My favorite salads in DC! I come here at least once a week. I order online 30 minutes before picking it up and make my modifications. It's so easy, the ingredients are always fresh and delicious. This place actually makes me crave salads which I never used to do! I love it! I recommend the pesto chicken and the harvest bowl.

Ashley M.

Yelp
I love this Sweet Green. The salads are great and the makers take such care. They have the right portions and they can also make recommendations. Especially Keith! I eat SG 3-4 times a week. Sometimes I want to try something new other times I just want to eat what I'm used to.

Dolly V.

Yelp
Oh my gosh the salad here was amazing!! And it was especially good after Super Bowl Sunday because I had eaten so much pizza, wings, and soda. The salad was refreshing and flavorful! Exactly what I needed after a day of grease and carbs. I ordered the OMG Omega--lots of avocado and steelhead fish (tastes like salmon). I went light on the dressing but that was perfect for me cuz the dressing is so flavorful. They ran out of arugula which is what they usually use for the OMG Omega but it tasted just great with spinach! The portion is great also. I will definitely be back to try more of the salads because I didn't get to try the mushroom one this time and I LOVEEE mushroom. Oh! And I like how they use they are earth-conscious. They use ingredients that are fresh and in season :)

Kendra T.

Yelp
I went to sweetgreen for the first time two weeks ago and have been 6 times since. I can't get enough of the food. I usually make my own bowl of kale, broccoli, sweet potato, tomato, cucumber, blackened chicken, and spicy cashew sauce. It's a medley of perfection. Also the staff members are really nice.

Mariah S.

Yelp
Pricey, but tasty! I literally order the same thing every time I go....I'm surprised I'm not tired of eating it. The pesto vinaigrette is unmatched!

Fabi D.

Yelp
This location is very convenient but they're very slow and act as if you're bothering them :( Salads are always great tho

Jesssie M.

Yelp
I already LOVE sweetgreen. You can see my rants and raves in earlier reviews. The new salads (CURRY CAULIFLOWER & QUINOA) are awesome! This location is very clean; the employees are really friendly and do a good job. It's really nice to have a sweetgreen in my hood now. It's rarely overcrowded, despite being connected to a gym and next to many residential buildings. Keep up the great work!

Judith R.

Yelp
Love this sweetgreen! They do get crowded since it's located next to (and kind of within) the YMCA but they know how to handle rushes! I come here every Wednesday after my run club of 30 + people and they move through our line efficiently and taking care to make sure our salads are exactly what we order. Props to the staff and thanks for always having a smile to greet our sweaty faces!

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
They make great salads. Very fresh ingredients, creative combinations, seasonal variations, etc. But, honestly, a lot of other places are doing the exact same kind of thing. Sweetgreen might have the best execution, but the differences between their salads and those at Chop't or other similar places are, in my opinion, not that significant. However, where they really impress is customer service. The people who work there are mega competent and very friendly. The other day they had run out of one of the ingredients in the salad i had ordered (it was right in the middle of the dinner rush), so they insisted on giving me the salad for free. They truly care about the customer experience.

Jeff T.

Yelp
When I try to make a salad at home, it usually tastes like water and then I have this giant bottle of salad dressing that I never want to use again but I refuse to throw out until it grows enough mold to literally become sentient. And when I try to make a salad at a grocery store salad bar I always seem to hobble together a pound of more competing flavors than I even knew existed. Which is why it's inexplicable that Sweetgreen has devised such delicious and texturally interesting salads. The Misoba (with avocado, soba noodles, and miso dressing) is my favorite - awesome with either tofu or shrimp. The Spicy Sabzi (with kale, raw beets, and an incredible carrot vinaigrette) is a close second. Pair anything with a strawberry mint lemonade for a light and refreshing meal that says, "I prefer to spend my precious calories on alcohol."
