Sweets & Things - Review - Cypress Hills - New York - The Infatuation

"Sweets & Things is a Cypress Hills spot with Dominican treats. The dessert spot is from a baker who got Instagram-famous for selling cakes out of mason jars, and they’ve got a variety of tres leches, as well as other desserts, and imported Dominican coffee. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

I knew exactly what I wanted to get even before I got there because of all the amazing reviews and this flavor being the most requested... 4 leches. I knew there was excitement around this tres leches, but I didn't realize until I took a spoonful just how delicious it was. At that moment, I wished I didn't decide to share it with my wife because I could have eaten multiple of them. Not only was the 4 leches a perfect sweet treat, the owner was literally so welcoming and easy to talk to. I was so impressed with everything she has been able to do and I'm looking forward to when she begins shipments of these tres leches so I can try all the flavors. If you don't follow them yet, definitely do so. And definitely check them out. I'm sure you'll find a flavor you love!

Very delicious guava tres leches! The place is very cute and the owner super nice, friendly and down to earth. Nice to have conversation with the owner and hear about upcoming collaborations and expansion of the business. Highly recommend! We will definitely return for more!

Wow! This is the most delicious farm to cup coffee we have had all week visiting New York! Exquisite comprehensive and cute interior and graphic design complement the carefully curated snack and dessert options. The drip coffee is richly flavored with hazelnut and chocolate tones; hints of Caribbean mountain soil and ocean breezes. We will be back to try the award winning tres leches cake for sure!

My experience was really good, the owner was very nice and sweet, she told us the most popular things and even asked if we were doing good. The flavors of the 3 leches were really good and there are more flavors coming up that I’ll definitely want to go back and try them. The texture was good, it is cake soaked in milk, obviously to expect. Pretty and simple presentation, as well as the place which is very clean, cozy, and colorful. Loved it!

Great Tre leche! Gorgeous cutesy space. I loved it, I would just be mindful of the prices as it costs $13 per cake cup and $16 for the Dubai chocolate. I saw somewhere that it said a different price. I thought it was worth it, as these are delicious delicacies, thank you! Strawberry shortcake is pictured and was sooo good that I didn’t even get to take a picture of the full thing.

Sweet and Things is a place you’ll want to come back to again and again. Their Dominican coffee is absolutely amazing — rich and full of flavor! And the tres leches cake is light as a cloud. The staff is incredibly polite, they remember your preferences and are always happy to help. True service with heart!”

If you're in Brooklyn and craving a sweet treat with a vibrant twist, look no further than Sweet and Things, the new Dominican bakery that's quickly making waves! From the moment you step inside, the colorful decor will capture your attention—it’s like stepping into a real-life version of the Color Factory museum, with every corner filled with vibrant hues and playful designs. It’s the perfect spot for a fun and lively atmosphere. The bakery’s selection of Dominican tres leche cake is truly a treat for the taste buds. I tried their *banana loaf* and *tres leches cake*, and they were absolutely delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and made with love. You can really taste the authenticity in each bite. The staff is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Whether you’re grabbing a quick snack or lingering over coffee, Sweet and Things has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn. Highly recommend checking it out!

Yelp
Sweets and things is an authentic Dominican bakery specializing in tres leches. The owner Yesenia does an amazing job at making flavored Tres leches like Guava (hot menu item), Biscoff, 4 Leches, And Much More... Before we talk about the sweets, let's talk about the decor. From the pastel walls to the colorful furniture to the holiday/seasonal decor. The ambiance and aesthetic of Sweets & Things was unmatched. I tried the classic cuatro leches, guava, and biscoff. Each one was creamy, sweet, and succulent. If you have a sweet tooth this is the SPOT. Many clients were coming in and asking for guava, which was selling fast! Also, flavors tend to be seasonal so make sure to stop by if you see a flavor you like and availability. Staff are really nice and helpful. Make sure to say Hi to Yesenia. The bakery also offers a variety of other sweet treats and if you're looking for a unique gift, they offer custom cakes and coquito (fun flavors). During my next visit I hope to try the Ube Flavor. Overall, I highly recommend Sweets and Things to anyone with a sweet tooth. The combination of delicious treats, beautiful decor, and friendly staff makes it a must-visit destination!

Yelp
My sis in law curated a little tasting for us. We tried the Guava/Pina Colada and Original flavors. Presentation and quality were great. I enjoyed all three but my favorite was the original. The recipes here aren't as sweet as a traditional tres leches so keep that in mind if you plan on making a visit. I prefer a really rich and sweet tees leches myself so that would be the only thing that would have made it better for me.

Yelp
Best coffee I've had in NYC! If you're looking for authentic and unique tres leches this is the place to go. Highly recommended in the Brooklyn area

Yelp
Atmosphere is nice. I can see people coming here in groups for a small getaway from the neighborhood. But my issue is the price of the 4 leches and it's taste. 12 dollars for one is pretty steep. And to be honest , I wasn't blown away by it and have had better. Maybe the packaging is the issue. It's inside of a to go cup so everything is mushed together. You don't get to appreciate the presentation of this desert. The coffee is good. Fresh tasting and decently priced. Everything else seems to be decently priced except for the 4 leches. But def give it a try. Support small and local businesses.
