Sweets & Things - Review - Cypress Hills - New York - The Infatuation

"Sweets & Things is a Cypress Hills spot with Dominican treats. The dessert spot is from a baker who got Instagram-famous for selling cakes out of mason jars, and they’ve got a variety of tres leches, as well as other desserts, and imported Dominican coffee. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

I stopped by Sweets and Things in New York and had one of the most delicious espressos I’ve ever tried! The flavor was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced — bold without being bitter. You can tell they really care about the quality of their coffee. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the service was warm and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely my new go-to spot whenever I’m craving a top-notch espresso in the city. Highly recommended!

We visited this place after watching an instagram video. We were very excited about the tresleches and those were not disappointing at all. We were suggested to have the Lychee Coconut tresleches by the person on the counter which was amazing and we also had the Strawberry cheesecake tresleches with it. We even ordered the hot strawberry white chocolate drink and a latte. The service was amazing and the place was veryy cute and pretty. A must visit for tresleches lovers!!

My first time trying these delicious cakes, tres leches is my favorite kind of cake. I had the cookies & cream and coconut. I bought an extra coconut for my mom and she loved it as well. Let’s not forget to mention my daughters also loved (kid approved) delicious 🤤 it was worth the hour drive. Can’t wait to try more flavors soon 🙏

We went all the way from Jersey City to visit this place, and it was really worth it. The moment we walked in, we liked the vibe. The place looks nice, feels cozy, and is kept very clean. You can tell they take good care of it. They are well known for their tres leches, and they have many flavors to pick from. We tried the lychee coconut tres leches, and it was amazing. It was soft, creamy, and full of flavor. The mix of lychee and coconut was different but very tasty. We also ordered a strawberry shortcake. It was soft and fresh, with just the right sweetness. Along with that, we had a strawberry white chocolate coffee. The coffee was smooth and sweet, and it went well with the desserts. The staff here were also great. They were friendly, polite, and happy to help. They explained the menu to us and suggested what we might like. It made our visit even better. Overall, this is a very nice place to enjoy desserts, especially if you love tres leches. The food, the service, and the clean, cozy setting make it a spot worth visiting.

Wow! This is the most delicious farm to cup coffee we have had all week visiting New York! Exquisite comprehensive and cute interior and graphic design complement the carefully curated snack and dessert options. The drip coffee is richly flavored with hazelnut and chocolate tones; hints of Caribbean mountain soil and ocean breezes. We will be back to try the award winning tres leches cake for sure!

I knew exactly what I wanted to get even before I got there because of all the amazing reviews and this flavor being the most requested... 4 leches. I knew there was excitement around this tres leches, but I didn't realize until I took a spoonful just how delicious it was. At that moment, I wished I didn't decide to share it with my wife because I could have eaten multiple of them. Not only was the 4 leches a perfect sweet treat, the owner was literally so welcoming and easy to talk to. I was so impressed with everything she has been able to do and I'm looking forward to when she begins shipments of these tres leches so I can try all the flavors. If you don't follow them yet, definitely do so. And definitely check them out. I'm sure you'll find a flavor you love!

Yelp
Sweets and things is an authentic Dominican bakery specializing in tres leches. The owner Yesenia does an amazing job at making flavored Tres leches like Guava (hot menu item), Biscoff, 4 Leches, And Much More... Before we talk about the sweets, let's talk about the decor. From the pastel walls to the colorful furniture to the holiday/seasonal decor. The ambiance and aesthetic of Sweets & Things was unmatched. I tried the classic cuatro leches, guava, and biscoff. Each one was creamy, sweet, and succulent. If you have a sweet tooth this is the SPOT. Many clients were coming in and asking for guava, which was selling fast! Also, flavors tend to be seasonal so make sure to stop by if you see a flavor you like and availability. Staff are really nice and helpful. Make sure to say Hi to Yesenia. The bakery also offers a variety of other sweet treats and if you're looking for a unique gift, they offer custom cakes and coquito (fun flavors). During my next visit I hope to try the Ube Flavor. Overall, I highly recommend Sweets and Things to anyone with a sweet tooth. The combination of delicious treats, beautiful decor, and friendly staff makes it a must-visit destination!

Yelp
My sis in law curated a little tasting for us. We tried the Guava/Pina Colada and Original flavors. Presentation and quality were great. I enjoyed all three but my favorite was the original. The recipes here aren't as sweet as a traditional tres leches so keep that in mind if you plan on making a visit. I prefer a really rich and sweet tees leches myself so that would be the only thing that would have made it better for me.

Yelp
Best coffee I've had in NYC! If you're looking for authentic and unique tres leches this is the place to go. Highly recommended in the Brooklyn area

Yelp
Atmosphere is nice. I can see people coming here in groups for a small getaway from the neighborhood. But my issue is the price of the 4 leches and it's taste. 12 dollars for one is pretty steep. And to be honest , I wasn't blown away by it and have had better. Maybe the packaging is the issue. It's inside of a to go cup so everything is mushed together. You don't get to appreciate the presentation of this desert. The coffee is good. Fresh tasting and decently priced. Everything else seems to be decently priced except for the 4 leches. But def give it a try. Support small and local businesses.
