18 Best Restaurants on the Outer Banks | Eater Carolinas

"Swells’a is a brewery, yes, but it’s also a community space, a fundraising venue, and the Outer Banks’s living room. Open year-round, go to Swells’a on any given evening there will be longtime neighbors mingling with tourists. Perhaps there will be live music, perhaps there will be a small market of local artisans, or perhaps (like on a summer evening last year) there will be a talk about surf safety featuring some of the sport’s most accomplished athletes. Oh, and the beer is great too — heavy on easy-sipping ales, lagers, and IPAs that are perfect for the beach." - Matt Lardie

The Best Restaurants In The Outer Banks, North Carolina - Outer Banks - The Infatuation

"Swells’a Brewing has just about everything you could possibly want in a seaside brewery. You’ll spot local surfers who stop by for weeknight drinks, friendly puppies running around everywhere, and you can even catch a slight view of the ocean from the outdoor deck or second-story seating area. The rotating tap list also features a wide variety of beers, but just about everything on the menu tastes great while playing cornhole on the brewery’s lawn or after enjoying a full day of water-based activities." - anne cruz

Beer is delicious. Place is very modern. Clean and nice. They have beautiful backyard and roof top. Very kids and dog friendly.

Amazing beers and classy digs! Swells’a is a modern brewery with surfer vibes, indoor and outdoor seating, and an upper level deck with great views! Plus the Jimmy Buffet Ruined My Life is the best IPA in the OBX! 🍻

Average beers at best and not welcoming service. This was a disappointment as we heard this was a great spot. We got a flight and of the 8 beers one was something I’d drink again. The Grapes of Wright was it, the others were drinkable but not anything we’d want to take home. The staff behind the bar seemed annoyed we were there and there really wasn’t any atmosphere for a brewery.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Outdoor seating was awesome and we were lucky enough to stop in when they were having music by Bird Dog. Very talented couple of musicians! Stay Afloat fruited sour was amazing! I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the coconut but it was perfect. I would definitely come again!

Loved the Chill Spot option from our lighter flight choices. The seltzer slushie was also so refreshing on the 100 degree day! Super friendly staff and everyone visiting there seemed to feel at home and happy!

This brewery has a nice outdoor seating area and outdoor roof-top seating too. We went on a Thursday when they had live music (so so performer) and had a beer. They don't have a restaurant on site and I actually prefer a place that concentrates on beer vs food.

Got a flight to taste a few beers. None of them blew me away, but none of them were bad either. Bartender is nice. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck upstairs. Plenty of parking. Plenty of i door and outdoor seating. You can bring your own food. Overall a nice pick to grab a few drinks and bring a lunch.

Favorite brewery in the outer banks. The place is really cool, it’s right on the main road and easy to get to. Beers are all good, the head dipper is probably my favorite IPA I have ever had actually. They are also dog friendly and the back yard becomes like a dog park at times. After going a few times I learned they swap out beers often, so if you really like something buy a bunch to take home.
