Utah’s ‘Dirty Soda’ Craze Will Hit Dallas With the Arrival of Swig - Eater Dallas

"Swig, a Utah-based drive-thru soda shop known for its 'dirty soda,' is opening its first Texas location in Fairview on May 6. The shop, starting in St. George, Utah, offers unique soda mixes, energy drinks, boba teas, and snacks like sugar cookies and salted pretzel bites." - Adele Chapin

Is a place to try once and then you are good. Pretzels are salty, store bought cream cheese. Sugar cookie and lemon cookie is the same with different icing/frosting. Lemon candy was not good. It was my first time here after all the hype went down. The guy taking orders wasn't helpful at all with the menu. They have boba on the menu, but don't sell it. The drink was tasteless. Maybe try it once and see for yourself. 2 stars because cookies were good, but enough to go back. Also they ask for tip in their tablet too. 🙄

Google
Lovely place to grab a refreshing drink before or after going somewhere. Fun seasonal flavors, and they even have pretzels and cookies. Service is great and I keep coming back for more!

Google
I’ve been a swig fan since this location first opened, but like when literally any chain comes to Texas, the quality simply doesn’t last. The revolving door of employees haven’t seemed to grasp the service aspect for the last 6 months or so. Even ordering ahead we’re looking to spend at least 15 minutes in the drive through for a soda. I wanted to make a point to come in during October for your Save The Cups promo, and regret it entirely. We’ve been locked into the driveway 20 mins already, no where to go. We ordered food elsewhere thinking this would be a quick stop, it’s sitting getting cold on a counter now. I should know better by now swig. Open a walk up window for orders made ahead PLEASE.

Google
We went to SWIG on the first day of their Grand Opening to try out the drinks and cookies - my kiddos got the 16oz Shark Attack & Hula Girl (they loved both, but my preference was the hula girl). We also tried each of their cookies. The sugar cookie was especially yummy. but I also really enjoyed the coconut cookie. It reminded me of an Almond Joy! 😋 Definitely a fun treat especially with summer around the corner!

Google
Service was quick and friendly. However, I did not enjoy the drink I selected that the associate said was popular. I should've went with my first thought of ordering a tea instead of trying a refresher. I'm not able to have drinks with carbonation and all of the refresher and dirty drinks have a carbonation. I will return to try something else, I won't order the Strawberry Breeze again.

Google
I’m a long time Swig fan- as far as taste goes I love it. For some reason I’ve had an issue with too much ice at this location (I saw this in an earlier review as well). The drink I got yesterday was filled up 3/4 of the way with ice and I think that’s just unacceptable. I was done with my drink after just a few sips! I wouldn’t even complain if it was halfway full but when it takes up most of the cup I think you’re kind of getting ripped off. :( I’d maybe give this location another chance but if it continues I think I’ll just swap locations.

Google
Fun and refreshing afternoon stop today! Would of liked the cookies to be warmed up. Staff was kind and the line went through pretty quick.

Bianca

Google
First time here! The hype got us waiting in line for 45 mins but it’s all good. The workers are super nice. We were just hoping it was worth it. However, maybe we just didn’t order the right thing? We got Strawberry Breeze, Chocolate Chip cookie, Sugar Cookie, and Pretzel bites. …they were all okay. The drinks were refreshing but wasn’t worth 45 mins wait for, the cookies were just ok (I didn’t like that it was chilled, flavor wasn’t good) and the pretzel bites was also ok (bread was hard). Overall was an okay experience.

Yelp
While I was in Texas I heard they had Swig and I was so excited to try it! Swig has something for everyone, whether you drink sparkling water, soda or energy drinks. They use Reviver Energy in their energy drinks - I tried the Weekender reviver - this was absolutely delicious with Reviver energy drink, sprite, strawberry, coconut and coconut cream. Refreshing, a little creamy and energizing - everything I hoped for when I tried Swig after hearing about it through a reality tv show (LOL). It's a drive thru only. Service was fast and staff was friendly. I went a couple of time during my 7 day visit to Fort Worth, TX. If you're looking for a jazzed up soda, sparkling water or energy drink, Swig is the place to go!

Yelp
Yummmmm! We will always love the different flavors and drinks available at Swig and our go to drinks are the Texas Tab and customized Soda with strawberry puree, vanilla syrup and vanilla cream. We also had to get the Pretzel bites which are buttery and soft and they come with a side of warm cheese to dip them in! If you haven't been here it is a must try!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Swig out since it's always so busy when I past by it when I go to the Gym. Their blender wasn't working for I ordered a Mystic Mango & Pretzel with cheese. Although it was refreshing, I couldn't taste any mango at all, only dragon fruit. Maybe that's what make it mystic? The pretzels were okay, they tasted like they were just microwaved
google avatar

Erin L.

Yelp
I finally tried it out and the drinks are so good, a lot of options and the pretzel bites were a favorite! Need to go again!
google avatar

Johnny T.

Yelp
There is not transparent pricing on the menu. For a drink that is "starting at $2.55" it can come close to $5. Also the place lacks seating. It only has two tables. The pretzel bites taste like they are microwaved and are very salty. Also kinda sad there's no diet options. I don't always need diabetes in a cup.

Yelp
Severe decline in service, the last four times we have visited the wait was 40minutes plus with five or six cars in the drive maximum. I just cannot fathom how it takes 40+ minutes to make a couple drinks? We came back so many times because we hadn't had issues in the past and the wait was always apologized for. The turnover also seems EXTREMELY high I have not seen the same employee there longer than two weeks. This seems to be a systematic error, and at this point I don't blame the employees on the front-end but rather very clearly the upper management of the establishment. So to whoever that may be- I suggest figuring out what's causing your insanely high turnover rate and poor success/ motivation from your employees. Until then, we will not be returning & referring others elsewhere. A $4 drink is not worth a 40minute wait.

Yelp
My first experience with Swig was very disappointing! First off, it takes way too long to order, then when you do, they don't show you the prices, they just ask you if you want small, medium or large, then after it's ordered, you realize that Wow it's expensive!! Then if you don't pay attention, you can get hit with a $5.00 tip. I had the strawberry coconut drink and it tasted like water with a hint of strawberry and coconut. It was a waste of money! Salad and Go has an amazing strawberry lemonade that's made with real strawberry and not chemicals like swig and Starbucks and it's a whole lot cheaper!!!
google avatar

Quentin R.

Yelp
How absolutely careless do you have to be??? We normally come here once a week and is normally a great choice. HOWEVER, this go around was just ridiculous. My girlfriend had ordered our regular drinks, to our surprise, there's no ice and zero fruit (strawberry breeze).. We questioned either they were out of products or they just DID NOT CARE.. Found our answer a couple hours later when I had gone to dump the rest of the Brand New Swig (Stanley Lookalike) Cup we paid $30 for.. THEY LEFT THE INSTRUCTIONS PAPER STILL IN THE CUP !!! That's someone who just does not give a s**t.

Yelp
Safe to say i am in love! I am a sucker for a good beverage and the same goes for any food with a good sauce so if ya know ya know. It's not for everybody, that's for sure. I would be here more often if it wasn't 30+ minutes away. Yes the drive thru can be difficult to navigate during busy times but not a big deal. I really love all the options they have here at Swig. Sure you can get many of the same drink combos at Sonic but i really don't think Sonic has every flavor pairing you can get at Swig. Swig boasts flavors such as Guava, Lavender, Passion Fruit, Pear, Butterscotch and so many more. I mean come on?! Not only do they have Soda, but you can also whip up a concoction with their Reviver Energy, their refreshers with sparkling water as well as tea! All of the pricing is really reasonable too, ranging from $2-$4
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little drive thru drink place. So many varieties of drinks and flavors. Prices are fairly cheap and you're served quickly. Drive thru could be a little wider, clearly lots of people hit the curb, but that would be my only complaint ‍
google avatar

Yelp
Swig is apparently really popular in Utah because they have a large offering of caffeine free drinks. Here, it really doesn't make a lot of sense to pay $4 for a soda with some coconut flavoring in it. They have very limited offerings beyond soda and energy drinks. Cookies and pretzel bites are about it. I tried the "popular" dirty Dr Pepper. It's a Dr Pepper with coconut syrup added. And it tastes...just like that. It's alright, I guess, but I don't see anything special about it and I wouldn't order it again, despite liking both Dr Pepper and coconut. Sonic does the same thing so I'm very confused at how this place will survive here. Plus when you order through the app at Sonic, the drinks are half off...so you can get the exact same thing for a lower price. I'm not sure which of the two had more flavor options, it's probably a toss up there. The cookie came directly out of a fridge, so it was cold. Not a great cookie either. Whoever designed the drive thru window is an idiot...when you're at the window, you need to make an immediate hard right to leave and depending on your car, you may still hit the curb. It's also mildly amusing that to get to the drive thru, you've got to weave through the parking lot of a fitness center. Service was quick, I went at noon on a Monday and there weee only 4 cars in the drive thru. Must have been giving away free drinks to generate the crazy lines just last week. I'm not sure I'd return. Let me make this clear....I'm a huge soda fan...and I get sodas often. Too often. But these? This is a once in awhile treat for a child, if they need to have a raspberry cream sprite for some reason. Or I suppose, daily addiction if you're of a particular culture that won't allow caffeine.... Swig is an overhyped sonic, with no food. Food/drink: 2/5 Service: 1/5 Price: 2/5 "Ambiance": 1/5 - It's drive thru only but the location of the window and curbs are the worst thing I've ever seen.

Yelp
I take back my good review, my husband and I stopped by for a late night drink and were met with the worst attitudes from teenagers we've ever encountered. We'll go to sonic instead
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
Refreshing drinks & the girls at this location are always the sweetest! My only regret is allowing myself to believe this was akin to Sonic, it's so much better!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Swig is so yummy! TX tab is the best!!! We are not fans of the cookies, but the Whoopi pies and pretzels are delicious!

Lynette D.

Yelp
Swig is absolutely my favorite dirty soda! It's the original and no other knock off can compare to the first dirty Diet Coke I ever had! Nobody does it better! Swigs Dirty Soda is the BEST!!!

Colin H.

Yelp
Waiting 35 minutes for a soda is crazy. The line had less than 10 cars in front of us and it took forever. And our order was wrong
google avatar

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Sonic tastes better! The drinks are overpriced and do NOT get the Berry Nice, because it tastes horrible!!! Trust me on this. You'll be waiting in line for at least 20 mins and the store hasn't gotten a system down with efficiently handling the line like Chick-fil-A does. The strawberry breeze is decent, but nothing to write home about. I definitely won't be back, unfortunately. This place doesn't live up to the hype.

Raegan B.

Yelp
My friends and I have been LOVING swig! such a great place and they have so many promotions! Definitely go check it out!
google avatar

Emily N.

Yelp
Tiktok sent me here. I do not drink soda very often nor am a huge creamer fan. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how these utah drinks tasted. It did not make me feel like sh!t after so that was already a win in my book. I suggest everyone come try a dirty soda atleast once in your life!
google avatar

Taylor K.

Yelp
I was so excited to try Swig after all of the Tik Tok hype, but was disappointed. The drive through is not clear at this location so they have a really confusing cone set up to get you to the line. They also have employees standing outside to take your order on an iPad, similar to Chick-fil-A. Personally, I hate that, especially at a place known for having so many options and customization flavors, because you feel pressured to know what you want and order quickly rather than being able to drive up to the large menu and take a second to choose. Definitely look up the options online ahead of time so you come prepared. Lastly, when we got our drinks they didn't have much flavor - maybe only 1 pump was in our drink. Compared to Sonic, I would choose Sonic every single time.

Yelp
Totally worth going to! Such a cool spot and SO MANY OPTIONS! I got the endless summer and loved it, I will be back!
google avatar

Jen G.

Yelp
It has a great drink menu has really nice workers and is in the cutest little shipping container

Suzanne U.

Yelp
A great place for a refreshing soda stop. Fun combos and flavors. Their refreshers are so great for the summertime. We go at least one a week !! Try the drinks blended !

Yelp
I'm going to be honest. I WANTED to like this place. I really did. But the concept just doesn't seem to work as well as you would think. Let me explain...... If you grew up in Texas, you are fully aware of Sonic drinks. You can mix flavors with any kind of soda you want and boom. You have a unique drink. *Swig enters the chat* I saw this place pop up on future businesses coming to the area and thought to myself this place looks cool, but is basically a Sonic without all the burgers and fries. Screw it. I'm going to try it anyways. I pull up to the drive thru, and a young lady is there ready to take my order. To my surprise she has no menu to show me, which makes ordering kinnnnnnnd of hard if you don't know what the heck they offer. So we have to ask her all the questions about what kind of flavors do you have, what kind of drinks do you have, etc. etc. This took a good couple of minutes. Overall the drinks were over priced and very just "eh". Not the worst thing I've ever had, but totally not worth a trip over here when there is about 85 Sonics to choose from closer to home.

Erin S.

Yelp
Drinks are okay overall, although there aren't very many low sugar options. The traffic situation at the Fairview location is ridiculous, and today I went at 10:00 am when the store is supposed to open at 9:00 am...and no one was there operating the store. So, I probably won't visit again. It's a nice concept, but the idea execution needs work.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Well, took me a couple times to get into it but.... I sneaky love this place. I'm a Diet Coke lover, so naturally I gravitate toward any of the drinks containing DC. I recommend; The Founder, Save Me Jade. I love that they offer sugar free alternatives too. Reviver is great for the caffeine junkies, as you definitely feel a clean energy buzz afterward. I tried SF Daisy Duke! Otherwise, I almost always keep it simple and grab a 32OZ Sparkling Fruit Water. I recommend trying some of the flavors in a small size and going "tapas style" with the family until you find your favorite.
google avatar

Don D.

Yelp
Not very good value for the $$$ lots of hype and I bought in, I would say that Sonic is a better value. Just being honest.
google avatar

Noelle C.

Yelp
I drove out of my way to give this soda-shop a try. I moved to the area recently and we have these shops where I'm from and it exceeded my expectations. I did a customized drink and it was literally so good. Staff was super friendly and the drive thru line got through quickly.

Paige N.

Yelp
The drinks are good but the way the drive thru is set up is such a mess. There are cones everywhere and it's just so confusing. I've been twice and neither time there's been a line so I dont even understand why it's set up like that. They have people taking orders with iPads but they don't have menus with them so I recommend looking up the menu in advance. I ordered the founder and the raspberry Dr Pepper one. I liked both but I think I preferred the raspberry. The founder didn't have a ton of flavor. The sugar cookie was not very good. It tasted like one of those chalky iced sugar cookies you get from the grocery store. The pretzels were much better than the cookie but honestly nothing too special.

Kimberly M.

Yelp
All things! Yum! Their drinks and cookies are delicious! Quick and efficient service.
google avatar

Leah S.

Yelp
The drinks were okay and service was great, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here.
google avatar

Saxon M.

Yelp
So refreshing on a hot day! Try the dirty dr. Pepper or the fighter refresher. Yum! You can even add fresh fruit in your drink.
google avatar

Erica J.

Yelp
Omg this lived up to the hype. So refreshing and delicious! The workers were so sweet too. The line was at least 30 cars long but I would wait again! I got The Fighter and will probably be back tomorrow!

Cindy K.

Yelp
Out of ingredients to make Hula Girl. This is like the third time in 4 times of trying to order it. I'm giving up on the place. Also, trapped when you find out they don't have what you want as there is a concrete curb all around. Totally crap experience.
google avatar

Henry R.

Yelp
This was very refreshing on a hot 95 degree day. I got the Texas Tab and it was delicious. They were very quick to get my order and I used my loyalty number from my last time trying swig in Oklahoma. Great place.
google avatar

Portia W.

Yelp
Boujie Sonic with great drinks tiny drive thru! This is the only one in Texas for now originated in Utah. Has cookies sugar free options sodas pretzels bites. Full menu of drinks select choices of snacks.

Paul K.

Yelp
Don't want to pile up on Swig but a lot of room for improvement....llacking flavor (had the mango 'something' with the mango pieces at the bottom) and way over priced.... Oh the drive up through the Gym parking lot avoiding the orange cones was.... Confusing and cumbersome, to say the least....
google avatar

Marcus K.

Yelp
Have a great choice of specialty drinks and you can customize it to your likeing or just get a regular soda as well as maybe some pretzels or great cookie.
google avatar

Stephen T.

Yelp
Soda soda soda. Pop pop pop. Coke coke coke. Whatever you call it, Swig does a pretty good job when it comes to this sugary drink. Is it healthy for you? No. Is it delicious? Yeah. Is it a place where you can get sweet carbonated syrups with a huge variety? Yup. Give it a try, at least once, and let me know your thoughts.
google avatar

Angela K.

Yelp
I'm not a big soda drinker but this place sounded interesting and I know it's popular in Utah, so I decided to try it and I loved it!!!! I got the Texas tap and it was so good! I just got one and craving another one already. The coconut cream in there is the most perfect flavor of coconut! There was a long line but it went by really fast and the worker taking our order was super sweet!

Katelyn M.

Yelp
Awesome drinks! The service was super fast as we were the only ones in the drive through. Our fav was the big Al but with Coke Zero, yum!

Lawson S.

Yelp
Big fan of their energy drinks. Their drama queen reviver is my favorite. Parking lot is a bit wonky but it's worth the wait!

Christine K.

Yelp
By far one of the best places to get a drink and a snack! Whether it is cold or hot outside Swig makes it so much fun to go through the drive thru. The Allen location has the most amazing employees with the most amazing customer service! Thanks SWIG for being top notch in my book!!!
google avatar

Rylie R.

Yelp
At first I didn't see the hype in a new soda place, because I already had sonic way closer to open. I went to try it over the summer and was pleasantly surprised. I got Shark Attack my first time and it was delicious, people say it's too expensive but in my opinion I would be paying $4 dollars anywhere else too. The service is good, they have ipads to take your order but the downside is you have to know what you want when you get up to them. They have a menu standing outside the restaurant but it's not a complete menu, it only has a couple things. So looking online before you order is your best bet. However sometimes the employees push stuff on you, I went with friends and they asked if we wanted stickers too. My friend said sure and they ended up charging us $10 for 6 stickers (packs of 2 are $3), we didn't realize they were selling the stickers we thought they were just giving them out. It would've been nice to know before she said yes. There's basically no ambiance, it's a drive through. Except I would say that the curbs are almost impossible to get through and they have a stupid line of cones that are tough to not run over. Entering and leaving the drive though is a challenge, but overall the drink is nice and they have pretty good cookies too.

Savage B.

Yelp
I was with a friend and he told me about the place so we went there and I made a drink and it was so good I wish I found this place sooner it was amazing.

Natalie U.

Yelp
Employees are amazing and so accommodating!! it's the perfect drinks and the perfect blend of flavors to make the perfect soda great for any day #swiglove

Logan E.

Yelp
The soda at swig was kinda....bad? The coconut dr. Pepper was miles worse than what you can get at sonic, and it is cheaper and faster at sonic. The pretzel bites were a huge let down, they essentially taste like what you get at the movies. Sonic also happens to have a much better pretzel offering + all the other food they have. The drive through like someone else mentioned SUCKS. I see no reason for this to exist and doesn't have anything special. Just go to sonic, this is Texas.

Ra C.

Yelp
First time at Swig today. When we pulled up there was an employee outside taking orders. She went inside and then a different person came out to take orders. For some reason the second employee decided to take the orders of the people behind us and never took our order. She even walked by my car and asked me if our order was taken yet and I said no. She said hold on and walked to cars behind us anyway. We made it all the way to the drive thru window and had to place our order there. Then I got to the window and told the employee I have not placed an order yet and she said rudely "What do you want?" Obviously, customer service is not a priority for them. Employees need to be trained for customer service because that's what will keep people coming back. There are alot of places to get drinks these days - Sonic, Dutch Bros, etc. We did enjoy the drinks we purchased, but I'm not sure we will return.
