Intimate speakeasy bar with 150+ rums & craft cocktails

"South Beach has no shortage of margaritas the color of nuclear waste, but Swizzle is a cocktail haven. This dark bar sits just below sea level, down a flight of stairs past a hotel lobby, and is always a reliable place to hide from crowds while sipping pleasantly sour swizzle drinks buried in crushed ice. The seven-page cocktail menu covers all the bases, and even has something called “the garlic cocktail” for $75. You probably do not need that in your life. We’re always happy enough here with something from the “swizzle classics” section of the menu, like the hurricane that features two kinds of rum, housemade grenadine puree, lime, and pineapple juice." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"There’s something about being in a dark room below sea level that feels particularly martini-appropriate. This is the case at Swizzle, which is why they’re on this guide even though they (technically) don’t have a martini on the menu. This place is in a South Beach hotel, but the space feels more like a Manhattan basement bar. As the name implies, Swizzle focuses on rum and swizzle drinks. However, the bartenders are quite talented and will be more than happy to make you a martini to enjoy." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"Swizzle is a bar that feels like a cross between a tiki bar and a speakeasy—or a tiki-easy, which is a word we just made up that’s as fun to say as this bar is to drink at. Even though it’s only three short steps below a hotel lobby, Swizzle is dimly lit and makes you feel like you're well below sea level in the hull of an old wooden ship. Underground atmosphere aside, this place also makes some of the best cocktails in town. The drink menu is extensive and unanimously excellent, especially the swizzle cocktails." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

"In Miami Beach Swizzle Rum Bar & Drinkery treats the Rum Runner with reverence, stocking more than 150 rums and earning a reputation—according to local cocktail aficionado Alexa Delgado—for some of the best rum cocktails around." - Carrie Honaker

"Tucked into the far back of a South Beach hostel, you’ve got to hunt for this Prohibition-style bar. As the name implies, rum is the star at Swizzle, with a versatile cocktail list focusing on classic and contemporary cocktails and a mix of spirit-forward drinks and tropical libations. The decor even boasts a mural and walls lined with photos highlighting the history of rum, which is meant to be museum-like. The wooden bowtie-clad bartenders will give tours of the space when they aren’t too busy. There’s also a newer outpost in Fort Lauderdale along the river." - Amber Love Bond
