Smash Burgers Are More Creative (and Delicious) Than Ever | Bon Appétit

"Chef Bob Somsith builds a Lao-inspired smash from a ground pork sausage base seasoned with lemongrass, makrut lime leaves, and oyster and fish sauce, smashed on the griddle to produce herbaceous, slightly sweet patties with caramelized, craggly edges; he tops them with bacon, American cheese and a jeow bong–mayonnaise aioli and serves rice-flour cucumber pickles spiked with Thai chili, garlic, fish sauce and sugar — a multi-component preparation that can take three days and has helped introduce Lao flavors to new diners." - BySam Stone

Best Southeast Asian Food in Austin | Eater Austin

"At South Austin food truck parked at Vacancy Brewery, chef Bob Somsmith serves what he calls his modern take on Laotian cuisine. The casual a la carte menu includes rib-eye steak skewers, chicken egg rolls, pulled pork steamed buns, and vegan crispy fried rice. Then there’s the tasting menu paired with beers from the host site. A la carte takeout orders can be placed online or in person; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas; and tasting menu reservations can be placed online." - Clara Wang

SXSE Food Co Review - South Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"SXSE is a Lao food truck parked at Vacancy Brewing on St Elmo Road in South Austin. They serve a regular menu of dishes like rib-eye skewers, crispy fried rice, and chicken wings with a caramel fish sauce. They also do a ticketed, multi-course chef’s table meal—reservations required—that’s paired with beer from Vacancy. photo credit: Raphael Brion" - Raphael Brion

Austin Gluten-Free Bakery Dream Bakery Is Closing - Eater Austin

"Laotian truck Sekse Fud Ko (styled Sek-sē•Füd•Kō and pronounced “sexy food co.,” and formerly known as SXSE) is popping up around Austin since its home location 4th Tap closed in late July. Owner and chef Bob Somsith writes to Eater that his truck will pop up at various neighborhoods and offices while he looks for a permanent location. Keep track of its service locations through its Instagram. 4th Tap filed for bankruptcy." - Nadia Chaudhury

This does not taste like proper Laotian food if you know true Laotian food. Nam khao is terrible. Lao sausage is limp, soggy, and flavorless. The brisket rice porridge is okay. I bet the chicken wings are good, but I definitely won't be back to try them

I got a pork bun. Unique flavors. Citrusy. Pepper is on the side. Very good.

Absolutely awesome food! The menu is small, so we tried almost everything on it – and loved it all. We are still debating which one we like best. It was either the chicken wings or the steak skewers, but the pulled pork bao were awesome as well. We also liked the crispy fried rice, which was really unusual and super delicious.

SXSE Food Co is a must-visit for chicken wing and skewer lovers. Their dishes are perfectly seasoned, resulting in juicy, flavorful bites. The chicken wings are delicious, while the skewers are tender and succulent.

One of my favorite food trucks located at one of my favorite breweries - it’s a win-win for me! I usually order their beef or chicken skewers with rice. (Last picture) It comes with a side of pickled veggies and fish sauce. Each bite is multi-layered and packs a punch. I recently heard from friends that they have chefs tasting menus and I ran over to their website to make a reservation. The reservation system is a little confusing and I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to book anything. I was contacted via email and someone assisted me with a reservation! The chef’s tasting took over half of 4th tap inside seating area. They blocked off the section and you were transported into an intimate dinner among friends. It was a multi-course dinner, each plate artfully designed and paired masterfully with a 4th tap beer. The harmonious collaboration between chef and the brew masters brings the entire experience together. I believe there’s a new tasting menu each season, so i’m already looking forward to the next event!

I was really excited to try this at Wanderlust Wine Co this weekend, but I wasn’t a fan. The presentation is great, but it’s a bit expensive, took at least 30 min, and I just didn’t like the taste. I was really excited to try the vegan scallops, the texture and presentation was great but they were pretty bland. The vegan crispy fried rice I think just wasn’t my style, but it also had SO much parsley. I will say I liked the spice level, but the all around flavor just wasn’t there for me.

This is a MUST stop situation. The food blew me away, incredible flavor, authentic Laos cuisine that I didn't know I needed in my life. Please make a trip here if you're in town, the food also pairs exceptionally well with a Vacancy beer 🍻

I can't speak on their regular food items on the menu, but their Lao style crawfish was amazing! Super mouth watery aka the spices was on point. Probably the best crawfish boil in Austin I've had so far. Will most definitely check out their other food item based on how good the crawfish boil was!
