Delicious tarts. Very reasonable prices and helpful staff. I tried 3 of the tarts; guava, pineapple, and cheese. All of the tarts were flaky and delicious. The cheese tart was surprisingly spicy and savory. For three tarts was $4.50 which is reasonable. Cash and credit are both accepted. No public bathroom available. Very limited spaces inside so not a dine-in location, but more of a takeaway spot. They do offer food for lunch and dinner and are open early for breakfast. However, there are limited options when going early like I did, which was around 8:30 AM. Definitely would come back and try more of the food. 01/2025

I decided to try Sybil’s carrot cake after seeing it on my TikTok feed. It was my first time having carrot cake, and while I wasn’t sure about it at first, I quickly grew to love it after a few bites. The frosting was great, though I wish there had been more! The cake was soft, moist, and less sweet than most cakes I’ve had, like those from Whole Foods. I also tried some puff pastries, which were decent, but the carrot cake definitely stood out. I’ll be back for sure, and I might try their hot food next time.

BOMB! Found them through TikTok. I ordered late through GrubHub so I wasn’t aware that chicken fried rice was a lunch thing but wow! First time trying Guyanese food (I only know Jamaican and Dominican Caribbean food) GUYANA TOPS ALL OF THEM! The chicken roti (I probably didn’t eat it correctly lol) was GOOD! MEAT FALLING OFF THE BONE! ABSOLUTELY delicious! Their Butter Flap is soooo good! Their Mac and Cheese is so different from how Jamaicans make it! So unique! I can taste the mustard I guess that they use? My least favorite was the bread pudding. It tastes like perfume but again, I’m not used to Caribbean food. 😭 Customer service PHENOMENAL! The lady was sweet to call me and to make sure I was satisfied with my order (and to let me know they had ran out of the fried rice). So so sweet! I pray this restaurant continues to be abundant. I will order again!!! If you can do pick up, do pick up because Grubhub of course gonna charge those fees! Loveeee! Thank you to this restaurant! 🥹🥹🥹🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

Sybil's Bakery & Restaurant makes everything fresh and seasoned properly. When you walk in, you feel like you're home. Very welcoming and just good positive vibes. The food is always on point! The staff is super friendly and extremely courteous! I had the curry goat with peas and rice. By the time I finished my meal I was ready for a good nap. I drove almost two hours to get my fix that I can only find at Sybil's. Until next time my friends, stay on the lookout for the next tasty meal.

Avoid Doubles here: they are always premade and cold. Avoid avoid avoid!!! Their patties are a little better, but after the double experience I’ll be staying away. if you do get any patties, get the oxtail patties, which is my last picture

Delicious and HUGE portions! The chapati they gave me was bigger than a large pizza! The jerk chicken tasted more bbq sauce-y than I expected but it was still delish. I ordered a side and the portion that came could have easily been a meal with some rice. Curry chicken was delicious, too, and came in massive separate plates for the rice & peas and the chicken & sauce. Would definitely return! Been here a few times their bake goods always on point. So I decided to try the chicken fried rice and some pepper pot patties. Both were delicious flavor was their in fried rice, chicken wasn’t dry but cooked to perfection. The patties were amazing adding the sauce added another layer too. Their homage juices are great as well. Overall I recommend this plate if you looking to try something and looking for something affordable as well.

There's a $10 credit card minimum. There are a few tables and chairs. It's clean and they have an A grade. I tried the chicken curry with white rice. It was good, and the meat came off the bone. Overall flavor was good. The rice was soggy. They have interesting Guyanese beverages.

The food we got was delicious and the peanut punch is outta this world. My only complaint and hope this helps them improve is the bones in their jerk chicken sandwich. Instead of fully enjoying the sandwich, I spent most of my time fishing out the bones. This wouldn't be ideal if you're on the go and wanted a quick bite. Nonetheless, food is still delicious and made to order and the ladies behind the counter are sweethearts. There are two locations, this one on Hillside and the other on Liberty Ave. both locations you must double park unless you're lucky to find parking right there. Order ahead to make it easier.

First off, Sybil's on Hillside Ave I is my home. Lately I have been disappointed last week. I bought black pudding and it tasted old and oily and rank. This week we bought cassava pone and I was chewing on paper inside the pone. This really saddens me I hope it can change for the better

The customer service here is horrible the girl was very rude and both ladies was helping a man and when she decided to help me she was so into their business she gave me the wrong patties . And the other girl was complaining about being sick . then proceeded get the next customers pastry and then take the money with the same gloves on

This sybil's location prices are higher then the one on liberty. If you are looking for a large pan of curry goat or curry chicken,you may want to go to the liberty ave branch of sybil's. You will save $20.00 ,off your bill ,the hillside location is $20.00 higher for the same size pan of food.Thats my only gripe with the hillside branch.but overall the food is good ,you get some good guyanese food. This branch is also a smaller restaurant.

Awful service! I saw this restaurant on a local news program and decided to support this business in my community, which I was born in. As a lifetime resident I'm trying to support local shops and restaurants. I was never acknowledged when I entered, I was the only customer. A woman with glasses just hollered to another woman who I didn't see I the kitchen area. I left after several minutes.

Amazing food and great service. Food is a little salty but really delicious. It may seem like the lines are long but they work fast to get you served . The roti is New York's best!

Rounding up to 3.5 Stars because of the great customer service! I recently participated in a virtual Yelp event where Sybil's owner/baker, Ken Bernard, demonstrated how their Coconut Drops are made. Well, those Coconut Drops looked so good that I just had to come to Sybil's for the real thing. (Also, I was just too lazy to make my own lol). It was well worth the trek to Sybils because those Coconut Drops were delicious! Great coconut flavors; toasty on the outside and billowy soft on the inside. They sell these Coconut Drops with or without raisins. I opted for the ones with raisins. (3 for $2.50). They also offer these in loaf form. In hindsight, I wish I had purchased a loaf. Next time! Sybil's has so much to offer! They have an array of baked goods, as well as pre-cooked food (kept hot in a steam table). We tried a variety of items but sadly, not everything was "great". I definitely enjoyed their baked goods more than their hot entrees, but I would be willing to give them another try if I'm in the neighborhood. Here are the other items we tried: - Guyanese Beef Patties: completely different from Jamaican beef patties, which they also sell. These were very small @ $1.95 each and were just ok. Mild flavors; didn't wow me. - Goat Curry: a large order is $16.50 This dish looked and smelled delicious. However, the meat was not tender and probably should have been simmered for a much longer time. Flavors were good but I had to recook this dish to tenderize the meat. - Oxtail: a large order is $23.00 Ditto to my above comment about the goat curry. The meat needed to be simmered for a longer time. - Sybil's Tennis Rolls (6 pcs): these were complimentary (thanks!), since my order came out to $100. These rolls didn't look like anything special but wow, they were terrific! They were slightly sweet, dense yet soft, and delicious. What a nice surprise! Overall, the baked goods were the obvious winners on this trip to Sybil's. Needless to say, the meats were disappointing. Customer service was excellent! Friendly and accommodating. I really appreciated how they packed all the hot entree containers in individual plastic baggies, so that if anything leaked, it wouldn't make a mess.

Delicious! The people behind the counter were super helpful with helping me chose what to get since it was my first time having Guyanese food! It is probably more of a take away type of restaurant but there are some tables inside. Will definitely be back.

*sigh*. There are two Sybil's locations. The Liberty location I love. Great Guyanese food I used them to cater my mothers repast. This location sadly is not up to those rave standards I placed a fairly large order for delivery excited it showed up since Sybils is generally out or delivery range not realizing it was for the Hillside location. I ordered Pepperpot, chicken patties, codfish cakes, guava tarts and cheese rolls. The chicken patties had an odd mushy quality and was flavorless. Pepperpot was bland and watery. I ordered on Boxing Day, the Pepperpot should have been especially good. The tart and cheese roll was fine. I was left sad and disappointed. And i was annoyed since I asked for the pepperpot not to be placed over rice since I prefer to eat it with tennis rolls. All in all a disappointing meal.

Food is amazing, got the jerk chicken sandwich. Staff were friendly like always. Highly recommend this location.

Love this spot. Curry, Cookup, pastries, chowmein, are all great. I'm a regular customer and this is my go to when I have cravings for chicken patties and cheese rolls!

The food is decent, but the portions are ridiculously small in comparison to other Guyanese restaurants. I just had a delivery of vegetable roti - $13 for this?

Something always not ready. Don't waste your time coming. The older lady is nice and the bake is good (if they have it) The dark skin one forever rude. It's like no management or something.

I ordered through their website thinking it's the liberty sve location. Upon picking up my order I was the only customer, so it was quick. I drove home and opened up my order. It was completely wrong. I ordered a chicken rotti with channa and got just channa & potatoes. They usually package ot separately. Here it was together and dry. So disappointed. If I didn't live so far I'd go back, but I just know to not come to this location anymore. I'll stick with Liberty Avenue.

Today I bought some pastries along with 1pack butter flap bread. After about 2 hours when I opened the bag of bread at home, I had to throw it away because mold was on the bottom of each bread. I noticed when I picked up a pack of butter flap and handed it to the cashier she said do me a favor give me another pack. On the rack there were 2 different identification. Some were in bags that were knotted at the top and some were tied with a green tie. The first one I picked up was knotted at the top. The salesperson had me picking until I picked the one that had a green tie which she placed in my bag and didn't give me the original one I picked up. When I asked her why she did that she said because I want to give you a fresh one. That was her strategy to get rid of the stale bread. I immediately called the restaurant and happened to speak to the same person who was the cashier. I told her about the mold on the bottom of all the bread. I took a picture of the bread and she told me whenever I go to the store they will refund or replace it. This is so wrong. She knew that the bread was not good. Her explanation was that the bread is going bad very fast because of the weather. I had to end up at Kassim's bakery on Jamaica Avenue only for bread. Please don't do this to your customers

Not a fan of Guyanese and Trinidadian cuisine, my only interest at Sybil's is their pastries, narrowing it down to the mouthwatering cheese rolls and pine tarts. The service is great. I recommend the pastries.

By far the best Caribbean bakery in NYC! They have 2 locations but I prefer the one on Hillside because it is bigger and easier to find parking. Sybil's is known for their fresh bread & pastries, their signature plait bread (similar to a challah bread) is undeniably better than any other West Indian bakery in Queens. My favorite pastries are the pine tart & salara bread (coconut bread). They also make really good beef patties, Jamaican & Guyanese style. They offer a full menu of Guyanese/Chinese fusion such as curries, fried rice, lomein. I recommend the goat or chicken curry with roti or dhal pourie. Large drink selection with signature Caribbean beverages, sorrel, peanut lunch, champagne kola, & mauby to name a few. Staff is very friendly, and efficient, you can even see the bakers in the back thru the glass door & window preparing the baked goods, so you know its fresh!

These people are really really kind! I was in a weird situation where the driver tampered with my food and when I reordered it, they blessed me with their amazing extra sweet plantains thank you guys. My favorite lunch meal!

Came here on the whim for some Caribbean food. Ordered three rice and peas and the oxtail. The oxtail could use some more flavor but overall pretty good. The only thing was how long it was for them to offer us the rice and peas as an option. It was hidden in a ride maker so we asked like 3 times before they were like, oh and yea rice and peas also an option. Their menu was vast so I am sure I'd find something just as tasty next time.

$2 double = fried roti sandwich with daal inside. Yummy. Wish roti was alil crispier, maybe it is when first made. Bought early afternoon and ate in evening. Tens to sell out by evening. Worth it

Chicken and beef patties (and FYI I highly recommend the mini patties) are just plain heavenly. I was blessed with a box of these that were brought to a meeting that I attended. Now I have to find a way to get myself back there to buy a thousand more for dinner.

Sybil's is an amazing Guyanese eatery that serves up some of the best Caribbean food you can find this side of the Atlantic. Whether you have carnivorous or herbivorous tendencies, Sybil's has something for you. You should try their special Guyanese patties that are shaped like mini-cupcakes, filled with the most savory of meats (your choice between chicken and beef), and baked in the most flakiest of crusts. They make for a perfect quick breakfast or lunchtime snack. On top of the great food, the service is warm and welcoming, making you want to come back for more. But don't take just take my word; go and see for yourself...make sure you tell them that I sent you!

This place looked pretty interesting online so we decided to give it a try and pick up some takeout for dinner. Once again, disappointed by this tiny hole in the wall. The food was pretty disgusting. The oxtail was undercooked, really hard to chew, and served over over cooked mushy rice. The pepper pot beef was so dry, yet so fatty at the same time. How is that possible? If cooked enough, then the fat should've rendered out, I don't even know how you can stew meat so dry and still have a big chunk of fat on at the same time. At least the mediocre fried rice was not overcooked but it was inedible after the pepper pot beef sat on top of it. The chicken and the beef patties were disgusting as well. The crust was in so horrible but the filling on the chicken was inedible. The beef filling didn't taste so bad at first bite, and as you ate more, it left a horrible aftertaste in my mouth. Needless to say, we will not be going back. We will also be taking a break from experimenting with these hole-in-the-walls.

Food salty and potatoes hard not fully cooked. Dry hard ass plantains and channa. Missing item and wrong item sent. I will never order from here again these people don't know how to follow instructions. What kind of restaurant does this??? Why would u send food not fit for a dog to eat???? It's absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN. FIRST AND LAST TIME ORDERING. I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO THROW AWAY!!!

Garbage food and poor portions. This is what $18 oxtail gets you. I ordered delivery and was stuck with this.

Great carribbean bakery. I've been trying to get my foot in the door for years finally made it. I must say it did not disappoint. All food freshly baked on the premises. Currants, Sweet bread, patties all fresh and delicious. While I waited for my order pickups from Grubhub and Uber eats. If you have a large order I recommend calling in advance it can be very busy in there! Can't wait to go back for my sweet bread

I will not go here again. I ordered fish sandwiches. The fish was dried out and not fresh and very little. They stuck plantain in between the bread to make it look like there was more fish in the sandwich. And I found a hair in one of the sandwiches. Yuck. D+ for cleanliness and F+ for trying to get over on customers. All around, disgusting.

The BEST, moistest Jerk Chicken I have had in years! The rice and peas were also flavorful. My one complaint was the lack of Ginger Beer, but I can hardly fault them for being Afro-Guyanese instead of Jamaican. Clean, welcoming atmosphere and quick service. Yum! Yum!!

The mission was doubles. With my newly made yelp friends, we sought and did find. We walked in on a Saturday at 2 pm to get 5 orders, 3 to stay and 2 for me to go. As usher would say, oh my god...yes, that tamarind sauce is so awesome in a way I cannot describe. I loved my doubles. It was melty on your mouth good. The bara was thick and the inside were filled to the brim of chickpeas ans I mean totally packed, but not in a messy oily way. It was kind of the type that you better eat it while it's dang hot or else it is soggy and cold and sad. I wanted to take more to go, but I haven't figured out how to keep the doubles fresh for days. Any suggestions?

As someone who has had authentic Caribbean food, the food is very average. We ordered the curry goat, chicken fried rice, oxtail, the baigan, and a double. The food lacked authenticity and the double was dry and stale. I'm comparing it to some of the delicious double I've tasted. This place is not worth the hype. I really wanted to love the food..

I have eaten here for 4 years and the food was always tasty. However, since the very friendly, always smiling woman who recently gave birth to her baby boy left, the service has deteriorated. The food is no longer tasty, pastries are dry.... The older woman NEVER gets my order right, maybe she needs a hearing aid. The young round face girl is slower than a tortoise, acts she doesn't want to be there-check your change with her. Twice the pleasant tall gentleman in the back had to help her.... On the positive side, the healthy juice man, he's beautiful, in and out. He's always pleasant and repeats the customers order to make sure he's correct. Time to find a new bakery.

The best roti and dali puri roti period! Every time I get onto the Van Wyck and pass by I have to exit and get more. But I just wish the parking was better in the area. It's not impossible but it's not the best. I'll be back every time I get a craving. :-)

Unsanitary!! I thought a lot about writing this post because I don't like to hurt businesses but the employees don't seem to care about the basic sanitary needs of Their paying customers so why should we care ? I was in the store for approximately 15 minutes and not once did the employees change their gloves. They are using the same gloves, doing the register to collect cash / card and with the same dirty gloves Touch the food to share it out .. I ordered a patty and with the same dirty gloves she cashed out 4 customers before me she touched my patty with .. as a paying customer I deserve better ... covid around or not SMH

My favorite are the Guyanese chicken patties! They are made just right. I love that it's not spicy at all compared to the Jamaican chicken patties. They also come in beef flavor.

The chicken in the chicken lo mein was seasoned just right. That hit the spot. The channa was soooo good. I've been wanting to stop by but traffic made it difficult, so when I saw a parking spot, my wishes and cravings were fulfilled. So many choices look good to my palate. So each pay week, I'm going to have to pick up something for sure.

I wish there was no star. Because the customer services suck. I ordered my pick up from Door dash. So I called 20 minutes ahead of time to confirm my order. They said it's ready. When I'm Walking out the lady behind the counter like there was no More cod fish cakes. Ok so why u didn't tell me when I called ? She like but I gave u potato balls. WHERE IN THE MIX CAN POTATOES BALLS AND COD FISH CAKES BALLS BE SIMILAR AT ALL ? Very disappointed and fcked Up YOK CHARGE MY CARD FOR SOMETHING U DIDNR HAVE.

I gave this place another chance and NOPE! Fail again! The Pillori (dont know if that's how it spelled) tasted grainy. The tamarind sauce did not taste like Tamarind AT ALL. The guyanese patties are $2 for that tiny little dry patty. The bake was the only thing that tasted good, but the saltfish again...not at all! NEVER AGAIN!!!

I used to eat from here on a regular basis. I came today to enjoy a quick meal and I spent $11 for 3 oxtail. This is the most absurd thing I have ever witnessed. They used to give you the amount you paid for. I am NEVER eating from them again for being so cheap smh

Entered this establishment ready to partake of some wonderful pleasing carribean food. The food had been left to sit on top and dry. When I asked for jerk, I was told that there was no more by one person, there was more, by the other....Once I place an order, the lady sloppily threw my food in a pan.wotjput regard to where it lay. Not appealing at all. Walked out. No Customer Courtesy here. It's a No for me.

I had two other restaurants in mind that I wanted to try today but unfortunately they were closed today. Despite the good reviews, I am very familiar with Caribbean food so I am not expecting the taste to be off-the-wall amazing. But I was walking literally up and down Hillside Avenue for a while so this place came up on my Yelp radar. This restaurant was extremely clean when I walked in (hence the A+ rating). The assortment of food was nicely presented and looked very fresh. I asked staff what was included in a meal which was a meat, rice, salad and plantains for 8 dollars. I didn't want the rice; I just wanted a meat and two sides so I did have to pay extra for it. I chose curry chicken, pumpkin, okra and chickpeas; she also added some plantains to it which was nice. I paid around 12 dollars for the meal. The curry chicken was nicely cooked but I did find the pumpkin and chickpeas to be a tad bit salty (for my taste). The okra was okay; nothing to scream about. I wouldn't find myself visiting here again only because I am not in this area at all but I do think they have another location a bit closer to Brooklyn so I may check that one out if I'm in that area.

Don't be fooled by the unflavored "Guyana Patties" $2 for a small ass Pattie. Had no flavor and was smaller than half a dollar. First and last time I'll ever go in that store.

One word description of this place....TRASH!!! They lack common sense and professionalism, and don't give a crap about the food products that they are presenting to the public. I ordered a veggi Roti + Channa. All I got was a roti skin with no veggies, and a tiny container of chic peas. The Channa had no potatoes or gravy in it, it was just dry chic peas with a bit of onion in it. The second roti I ordered was a cod fish roti. What I received was a roti skin with a tiny container of dry cod fish. If I wanted cod fish with bread I would of made that myself. I ordered what was the poorest example of what any of the islands would call a roti I have ever seen. This place is TRASH!!!

$2 for Stale doubles, not buying here again! Also there food is over priced. Sybils on liberty food tastes better.

For some reason Liberty Sybils is way better than this one .. and i'm saying this because the pinetart from here was horrible. I never experienced a pinetart like this before there was a literally square chunk of pineapple in the middle and it was hard.
