I don’t normally leave long reviews, but Szechuan Restaurant Cityview absolutely deserves the recognition. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm hospitality and a subtle, elegant ambiance that makes it perfect for a casual lunch or a cozy date night. It's tucked into the Cityview area in Fort Worth, and if you haven’t been yet—consider this your sign to go. Let’s talk food—because that’s where this place shines. The menu is an authentic tribute to traditional Szechuan cuisine. Every dish is crafted with bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of heat to make your taste buds dance without overwhelming them. I highly recommend the Dry Fried Green Beans—perfectly blistered and loaded with umami. The Mapo Tofu is hands-down the best I’ve had outside of China. It’s silky, spicy, and packed with that deep, savory Szechuan flavor that keeps you going back for more. Their Twice Cooked Pork and Dan Dan Noodles are must-orders too. The pork melts in your mouth with a smoky char, and the noodles are perfectly chewy, with a chili oil that’s aromatic and rich. If you like spicy food, this is paradise. If you don’t, they’ll gladly tone it down for you. The spice level is customizable, and the staff is always happy to explain dishes to make sure you’re comfortable. Speaking of service, the team here is attentive and knowledgeable. They truly care about your dining experience and make great recommendations if you’re unfamiliar with the menu. They’re quick, friendly, and efficient without ever making you feel rushed. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and you can taste the quality in every bite. Whether you're dining in or ordering takeout, Szechuan Restaurant Cityview is consistently excellent. To top it off, the restaurant is always spotless, with a calm, clean, and inviting atmosphere. Plenty of parking, easy to get to, and never a long wait—even during peak hours. In a city full of dining options, Szechuan Restaurant Cityview is a standout. It’s authentic, flavorful, and run by people who clearly love what they do. Five stars all the way—I’ll be back again and again.

Google
Not good I was switching up my panda express trying to find a good place and this is not it! I order take out got the sesame chicken and it’s like the chicken has been overcooked and mushy or sitting in a heat warmer or something rice dry the only thing that was good was the egg roll.

Google
Great food options. Everything I've tried I've enjoyed. I eat there frequently and do take out quite a bit too. Take out comes well packaged and organized.

Google
Beautiful restaurant with great service. Soft relaxing music and gentle theme. Generous food portions and family friendly. Kids can easily share plates Immense flavors and fresh tastes on all dishes, orange chicken, general tso, lo mein, lamb, Szechuan chicken Highly recommend.

Google
This was our first time eating here. We like the ambience, the staff was very nice. We were seated right away. We ordered tempura shrimp, It was tasty. I had the Kung Pao scallops, it was good however my complaint was that it was almost half of green and red peppers. Every Asian restaraunt has their version of a dish so I get it but this place had too many peppers in their Kung pao. My wife ordered shrimp with vegetables. It was very good. Se both ordered fried rice. The rice is well cooked. We liked it also. My wife is kinda picky so I was afraid she wouldn't like it but she enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

Dine-in and pick up here a lot. Sesame chicken great. Recently tried jalapeno chicken and jalapeno beef. New favorites. Reasonable price. Good service. Kids love the chicken fried rice.

Google
Nothing was edible. Ordered $60 worth of take out. Crab Rangoons were yellow on the inside- no idea what it was. Everything had a burnt after taste including the soup and especially the chicken. Before even eating it smelled up my apartment of burned bad Chinese food. Very disappointed. Looks like we will need to go grab another dinner since we arent able to stomach this. The bad reviews are all true FYI. Also this was an accidental order with the wrong location/ the other location off camp Bowie is way better :)

Yelp
It has been a long time since I had been to this restaurant. The food was good and portions were large. The poo poo platter appetizer looked really neat at the tables next to us. Open flames are always fun.

Yelp
We liked it. This was our first time here. It was a Saturday night around 6pm. The place wasn't too busy yet. We were seated right away and a server came by right away and took our drink order. When the waters and hot teas arrived, we placed our dinner order. We had: - Moo Shi Pork with Pancakes (wraps), Plum Sauce and Fried Rice - Kung Pao Mandarin Special (Beef, Pork and Shrimp) and Fried Rice The order took about 10 minutes to make and serve and was served hot. The flavor was decent in both meals. I would add more spice heat to my Kung Pao next time. We have a lot of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I'll add some chili oil to mine :) Cost with tax was $40.50.

Yelp
Been coming to Szechuan for lunch for many years. The restaurant has not changed. Very good service nice clean restaurant. They have a lunch menu with plenty to choose from. All the regular Chinese food to pick from. I get the Orange Chicken with fried rice and egg drop soup. Soup is included with the meal. I also get Moo Shu Pork very good I go back and forth. You get plenty of food to eat always hot and fresh. We get the hot tea with the meal also included.

Yelp
Food is good, people are friendly, prices are fair. Have been eating here for several years. Owners have changed over the time but quality as remain constant.

Yelp
WACK! Burnt no flavor. Don't trust any bbq items. Just not good. Tastes like burnt brown sugar and that is it.

Yelp
I love Szechuan. I've been there twice now since living in Texas and I can't wait to go again!!! I live in Granbury, Texas and there's not any Chinese food places that are good so it's worth a to drive to Fort Worth.

K Y.

Yelp
The service was great, very kind people in there! The restaurant itself is very cute, quiet and had nice lighting imo. The only thing I would say is, the chow mein isn't a noodle, it's like a little crunchy noodle cracker? I've never seen that so that was definitely surprising, but having a menu with pictures on it would help in that case or scenario! Crab wontons were yummy! Food overall: 4/10 but they could definitely improve

TM B.

Yelp
We love the orange chicken with the egg drop soup. Most recently we ordered the lunch special and it was enough to share between two people.
google avatar

Leslie L.

Yelp
We have eaten here for years and always enjoyed it. Earlier this week though we had two meals that we order often and something was wrong. The food wasn't very good and the strange flavor was in each ingredient on the dish. We ended up throwing them out. Strange flavor that I could not figure out. Don't know if they have new management or ownership, but we won't be back.
google avatar

Patrick T.

Yelp
My family has been coming here for years and we always make this the go to place for larger parties. Szechuan had some of the best lunch deals as well!

Linda F.

Yelp
This was our first time ordering from this place. We ordered eight items each one wasn't up to par. The egg roll was the smallest bland tasting as well as the wonton soup, the cream cheese rangoon was small with very little cream cheese, the house noodles no taste, the orange chicken was very sticky, the teriyaki chicken tasted old with maybe six broccoli florets, shrimp with garlic sauce tasted fishy , the chicken roll was also not tasty. We were very disappointed and will not go back. Please don't waste your money.

Kim A.

Yelp
Food was good! Service was good! Not a fan of how silent it is in there and how close they tend to sit people. There were only a handful of people there, but we were all kind of sitting close/ on top of each other, and with no music, it's not hard to hear everyone's conversations .
google avatar

Ellie R.

Yelp
This is one of my go to Chinese restaurants. They have a great lunch deal that includes soup and rice. I really like the garlic chicken, which comes with water chestnuts in it. I always get the hot and sour soup too. The service is quick and the food is good!
google avatar

Kelly T.

Yelp
In town for business and wanted some good Chinese food. First the Hot & Sour soup was probably some of the best I've ever had! The mushrooms in the soup were next level!! Sesame Chicken was crispy with just the right amount of sauce. Very friendly staff too! Thank you!
google avatar

Yelp
I was pretty disgusted that this was in my rice. I showed the staff what was in it. It sounded like it was a common thing.

Brooke B.

Yelp
Great drinks. Service good. We were actually able to turn a couple appetizers into dinner for two. Large menu. Pretty standard fare, but all taste fresh. Nice environment, casual but not like a fast-food take-out. Dress up or dress casual, you will be OK. Nice decor, low lighting and cozy without a lot of noise. Almost serene.

Yelp
Not super fancy, but always delicious Chinese food. Their menu is expansive, and everything we have ever tried at Szechuan has been good. You get a lot of food for the money, so be prepared to take home leftovers. The wait staff and team there are always super friendly. There's plenty of dining space and we have never had to wait for a table (although it can be crowded).

Yelp
My wife and I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant for a while now. We have tried a variety of restaurants and none have left us satisfied. We ventured to Szechuan restaurant in hopes to find what we were looking for. We found it. This is a fantastic restaurant and the food was surprisingly good. The egg roll was crispy yet juicy the rice was steamed to perfection. The vegetable lo mein was packed full of flavor and the vegetables and noodles were cooked perfectly. The sesame chicken was certainly the star of the show. The food is also priced very well and we had enough for a second meal to go. The service was fast and great. The only and main drawback of this restaurant was the ambience. We went on a Saturday night around 5 o'clock expecting it to be kind of packed. It certainly was not. It was awkwardly quiet in there. Don't let the awkward ambience stray you away from this hidden gem in Fort Worth.

Yelp
This is a place that needs a generous amount of elbow grease. It needs a good cleaning and refreshing. It is not anything like the other Szechuan Restaurant on Camp Bowie, which is a shame as it is closer to my house. We make the extra distance to the Camp Bowie restaurant as it is superior in all aspects except the name.
google avatar

Kimberly W.

Yelp
I'd never been here before, so we got some take out, for a family dinner: pork fried rice, beef & broccoli, chicken lo mein, steamed dumplings, and egg rolls. Everything was great. I'll definitely go back!
google avatar

Joe D.

Yelp
In my previous review I said that we go out for Chinese once a year. We'll that has changed. Now we eat Chinese several times a year but only once a year at this place. We went there tonight for dinner and there were 10 of us. We ordered several different meals and the food was fantastic. The service was also great. I got the sesame chicken and it was served on a bed of bean sprouts that were crispy and I really enjoyed them. My wife got the Mongolian bbq with beef. It was seasoned really well and was very tasty. All of our food was fresh and served hot. Our waitress was very polite and helpful with my questions. I can recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Bethany H.

Yelp
Great food served family style. We always order the Orange Chicken, Sesame Beef and Pork with Green Beans. You can order to go but it's always better to dine in.
google avatar

Koe L.

Yelp
Pretty decent place to eat in. Customer service is great, hadn't had a bad experience yet!

Kaye J.

Yelp
Its freezing outside and they won't turn on the heat Its so cold in there the silverware is too cold to hold Go somewhere where they care about the customers
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! The staff are super courteous and professional. They treat you like family and help with everything above and beyond is over used but in this case is accurate! I had an extra superb experience and Maria was totally the reason for this tremendous night.

Nyobel I.

Yelp
nice ambiance, the least effort i've seen put into food for the price. was given this as "chow mein".i've gotten this dish countless times from other establishments and was shocked to say the least, was polite and asked for atleast a correction? thinking that was the least i could say i was even more shocked when i was told i was wrong- in a very disrespectful way to say the least. the issue was dealt with like their employees were just making fun. would not recommend, the food i ordered was unacceptable. waste of time.

Yelp
Ordered for pick up and food was ready on time and packaged nicely. Got a glimpse of the inside and it seems spacious with a good amount of seating. Food was delicious, and the menu has a good variety of items. Portions were great, and prices were fair. Overall would definitely come back!

Paulette W.

Yelp
I recently made a return visit to this restaurant after a few years. I was delighted to see the environment was just as serene and calm as I remembered. But the best thing was my favorite dish is still on the menu. Tomato Beef is a similar combination to many other dishes in similar restaurants. But in addition to the normal beef, pea pods, mushrooms and bamboo shoots it has hunks of tomato. YUM. Szechuan makes the dish perfectly. Our server was competent and professional, taking care of our needs quickly. I wish this establishment was closer to my home. I would definitely visit there often!

Liz Z.

Yelp
My family has been coming here for probably 20 years now, our go-to if looking for good Chinese in Fort Worth! Food is always delicious, super consistent with huge portions, Szechuan has never let us down. Dine in or take out, service is always great and fast. I could recommend everything on the menu, but a few of our favorites are the house lo mein, Tung ting chicken, and Szechuan beef. For app, they have the best hot and soup soup I've ever had!!
google avatar

Tracy S.

Yelp
Loved the food. Great service! Plan on going again! Nice to have a sit down meal that doesn't have a drive threw .
google avatar

Erin C.

Yelp
We have ordered takeout from Szechuan many times and always enjoyed it. Tonight was our first time using their updated online ordering system. It was simple to use and the food was hot, fresh, and nicely packed for carry out when I arrived. In and out in less than 5 minutes. Their staff is always so polite and helpful. Thank you to the gentleman at the front counter for holding the door so I could get my big box of goodies out to the car. Everything tasted great! Even better than last time! The Szechuan beef (my favorite) was just the right amount of spice. The fried rice was light and fluffy. The option to add extra meat to the sweet and sour chicken meant my hungry guys had more than enough for dinner and will get to enjoy leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

C B.

Yelp
Ordered chicken with garlic sauce. Received the chicken without garlic sauce. This must be frozen food, thawed for the exercise. The so called cook forgot to pour the sauce.
google avatar

Chuck D.

Yelp
Authentically decorated place we stopped by for lunch. Split the Szechuan beef and it was good. Had a decent amount of meat and was plenty for two people to split. The service was good. All in all I would definitely come back here the next time we are in town.
google avatar

Charles J.

Yelp
Amazing food and service, they even have lunch specials on the weekend. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Fort Worth!

A D.

Yelp
First time was really good. Second time not so good Overcooked food for both my wife's meal and mine.
google avatar

Ellie F.

Yelp
I do not know how to review this restaurant. I have ordered from here many times via DoorDash. My friend wanted to meet here for lunch so decided to try again. You can tell this place was amazing back in the day & they are trying hard to keep it looking nice but it needs a lot of work. The food was okay & our server was okay, he was new. Will I be back...I do not know.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
I could never eat here ... ever!!! Too many issues with big, roaches, worms; roach legs etc in peoples food!
google avatar

Josh H.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in the metroplex hands down, we have had it probably over 20 times and our order is never wrong!
google avatar

Terry G.

Yelp
I've been eating at Szechuan City View for well over 20 years and cannot believe I've never written a review for them. The food is always fantastic, even when it's not quite what I was wanting. Although the prices just went up a little it's still a great value for the money. The lunch menu is around 6 - 7 dollars and comes with an entree, soup, and hot tea. I love their Garlic Chicken and egg drop soup and rarely stray from this but their Lo Mein is wonderful too. This is a pretty big place and normally you can get a table quickly even when they are packed. The only time you might have a problem is the after-church crowd can really fill the place up. Give them a try, I know that you will be glad that you did.
google avatar

Yelp
Still Doing It Right Been visiting this place regularly since my last review, figured it was time to do another review. My wife and I usually each have a soup of choice, then share the pupu platter and an entree. This time around we nixed the soup, shared the pupu platter and ordered separate entrees because we each wanted a second meal the next day. She ordered the pork in garlic sauce with steamed rice, and I opted for the shrimp in garlic sauce with fried rice. Both with extra heat and sauce. They did not disappoint. Both arrived piping hot and exactly to order. Both had ample amounts of perfectly prepared protein and veggies. Service was excellent. We'll continue to be regulars. I'll be the first to let you know if they go off the rails again.
google avatar

Joy V.

Yelp
What a dear restaurant. Gracious people and quaint with old Asian motifs. So relaxing to dine in. The sever was quiet and kind. We ordered sweet and sour pork and cashew chicken, two egg rolls and I had egg drop soup, while my husband had wonton soup. They brought it out as you would expect in stages, and cleared away discarded dishes. Potion size was enough for three or four and we really enjoyed the flavor of each dish. We miss our cashew chicken with the clear gravy broth as they have in CA, but this was done well with a finely chopped mixture. If you need a quiet soothing dinner, with tasty Chinese food... this is a wonderful place to go.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
We used to consider ourselves Szechuan snobs when it came to Chinese food because no other restaurant compared. In the last year or so, the quality has greatly declined. The final nail in the coffin was when they changed their egg rolls. They used to hand roll them and they were so fresh and crispy. Now, they just taste like frozen egg rolls from the store. Definitely not as consistent as they have been for the last 30 years. Sad to see a Fort Worth institution go downhill.

Rey R.

Yelp
I have been coming to this restaurant for many years (30plus) . Delicious and very fresh prepared meals . We had the Poo Poo platter which has always been a hit . My girlfriend and I loved the whole dining experience.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
It is so sad to see the decline! Just a few years ago we were all in, starting with the egg rolls, then the hot & sour soup then any entree was very good, not now! Egg rolls are not fresh Hot & sour soup is so bland entrees are very small and bland So sad!!!! Interesting how the new generation has not delivered

Angelle B.

Yelp
This is my first time coming here. The lunch menu offers a choice of soup but if you get it to go, you can't have the soup nor do they offer a different option. The price however, remains the same. I'm disappointed and I haven't even gotten my food. Not sure I'll be returning.

Lindsey L.

Yelp
This is their chicken chow mein I got from there the other day. I have never seen cow mein look like this before. There wasn't really any flavor to it and I couldn't find any noodles in it. I also got their orange chicken and it was pretty good. 10/10 don't recommend getting their chow mein

Katie N.

Yelp
I found a WORM in my teriyaki chicken!!!!! I am absolutely APPALLED and SICK! They did however give me a full refund so one star for that.
google avatar

Phillip D.

Yelp
This business is not closed. Yelp would not let me check in. We are here for Sunday lunch. There is only a combination lunch menu. But the food was good. I would like to come back and try some of the other specialty dishes.

Yelp
What a great Chinese place! We had a meal for 8 on Easter weekend and it was delicious! We had the orange chicken, sesame beef, pecan shrimp, and pork with green beans. Every dish was piping hot and so much flavor! Great service and very easy to have a conversation. We will be back for sure!
