Houston’s Best Sports Bars | Eater Houston

"This laid-back Timbergrove pub is known for cheap drinks, crawfish, and a lively atmosphere. With a brick-lined bar, walls full of big-screen televisions, and darts, this bar is a great spot to catch a game or hang out with friends. And with its happy hour from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, it’s a prime spot to grab a drink while the game." - Brittany Britto Garley

Google
Is T Bones a dive bar? Objectively, yes; it is no frills, no BS. That doesn’t do justice. During Thursday night foosball or Saturday night karaoke, it is a special place. Fun crowd, dog friendly, best food you can find at 1 AM, reasonably priced drinks. Most importantly, even (especially) if you come alone, a bartender (Scott) that makes you feel like you have a friend.

John Norton

Google
Food was alright. Nothing to write home about. Bartender was very nice and drinks are super reasonable. Definitely would be a great place to watch a game.

Google
I've been coming here for well over a decade, and it's such a wonderful local hang. We're here for the final 4 with U of H playing, the place is packed and the service is still stellar and the food scrumptious. THAT'S NOT EASY TO DO! Thank u!!! It does not go unnoticed. 😀

Google
First time, came for a family's birthday and staff was very friendly and helpful. Crowd was super friendly and fun. No issues at all even though maybe didn't fit with the majority there. Will definitely recommend and come back asap. Saturday karaoke night was way better than we were expecting. Versatile and welcoming. Pool tables, food, foozball, pac man, darts, what more could we ask for. Keep up the great work TBones.

John Donato

Google
1st time there. Great place and relaxing. Food was Hot and Fresh. Was nice seeing a foosball table. Had fun playing and winning. Staff was very nice and drinks were great. A little expensive though. Definitely will go back especially since it's close to home.

Google
The vinyl selection is fantastic new and used! The cafe is great with a wide selection. Vibes are great and service is always quick and friendly! I’ll continue coming here for many years to come! Highly recommend! Support local businesses!

Yelp
Been in Oak Forest/Garden Oaks for several years, I've always been on the search for that local neighboring dive bar where I can pop in for a beer and watch some sports. I think I found it finally! I popped in here on a random day a while back after a long drive cause I needed a quick beer. A bit nervous, I stepped in here and sat at the bar, ordered a beer, and sipped it while taking in the surroundings and ambiance. And right away, I knew I would be back here frequently. Since that time, I've been here several times whenever I wanna catch a Rockets/Astros game, a Thursday NFL game, or if I just need to get out of the house for a bit. I've stuck with bottled miller lites which are pretty cheap compared to other places I've been to but they've got plenty of other ones available too. Order by the glass or get a pitcher if you're feeling for one of those nights. Food here is typical bar food with your burgers, wings, nachos, and quesadillas but they also have entrees such as their chicken fried steak or their pork chops. Wings aren't bad, they won't blow you out of the water but for the price, they get the job done. Meanwhile, their tacos are quite tasty with their brisket tacos (Thursday only) being quite tender and flavorful. They also do different food specials/features each day for exclusivity. Bartenders are pretty quick here and easy to chat sports with or have some friendly banter. There's also games to keep you entertained including darts, pool, and some arcade stuff. Glad this is in my area and somewhat within walking distance; in case I get too hammered here! Perfect definition of a dive bar!

Yelp
If you're looking for a dive bar complete with darts, shuffleboard, and a pool table this is your place. They have a good craft beer selection, and lots of domestics in bottles. Bartender is a character but a friendly guy. There's daily food specials which include steak night, $1 wings, rib-eye sandwiches, and a taco night. It was a good place to watch the Astros game. They have lots of TVs and it's surprisingly spacious inside. On Sundays they had a $3.75 domestics and $4 crowns. Great drink specials in a laid back setting.
google avatar

Cistah C.

Yelp
TBones is a genuine place with a good steak night and a good happy hour. It's no frills, just the way a steak night should be...a great value and plenty of TVs to watch the game, what ever game you want to watch!
google avatar

Yelp
Great customer service and I'd recommend you guys to try this spot out they have deals by the day

Yelp
Good Food. Good Service. Cool atmosphere. Visited mid afternoon & sat at the bar. My server was patient and recommended the wings which I enjoyed.

Yelp
Been to T-Bones twice and expect to continue to patronize the establishment. Great bar food, excellent service, and plentiful screens for all the games. Large space so it doesn't seem over crowded although it's very busy. Great find for us!

Jim J.

Yelp
Just solid dive that's consistent. Good wings... Small bit of a trendy feel because dives are cool
google avatar

Vlad V.

Yelp
I can appreciate a good dive. Somewhere where you can play bar games and drink some affordable brews in an unpretentious environment. Bonus points if you sell pitchers of beer. More bang for your buck. T-Bones Sports Pub is exactly that. I stopped by after having drinks elsewhere and parking won't be an issue as they have a spacious lot. On this particular evening, they even had karaoke going on. I'm not a big karaoke person but it is entertaining when someone is really bad or really good---one of the two ends of the spectrum. We played some darts, downed some pitchers, and we were on our way. Exactly what you want out of a dive.
google avatar

Renko R.

Yelp
Great bar to have crawfish and watch some sports! Crawfish was plump and the nachos were super filling! I've always been a spears person when it comes to fried pickles, but the breading on their pickle chips were fantastic

Debra J.

Yelp
I ordered lunch for 6 of us today and went to pick it up. It was ready when she said it would be and everything was delicious! The ribeye steak sandwich was a total hit!! Keep up the great work!!
google avatar

Mitchy M.

Yelp
I dropped by for crawfish. And this is my type of place. Its just a local dive bar with all the essentials. Tvs, pool tables, patio and cold beer. The crawfish was probably the best ones i've had all season. Great seasoning and 3 lbs wasn't enough! I will be back soo Staff: friendly and lots of locals hanging out. Parking: spacious parking lot in the shopping center.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
Thanks Chris and Jeremiah! Wife and I traveled off the heights beaten path and came to tbones. Small neighborhood bar with the looks of locals throughout. Saturday night with a good crowd and attentive staff. Bartenders were some cool guys with good conversation. Looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
Went to steak night. Very good food and great drinks! A hidden little gem you should check out.

Yelp
We just decided to give this a try and we were really pleasantly pleased!! Staff was very pleasant and Happy Hour on a Friday night is until 9PM! We had Potato Skins and they were great. We will go back for sure!! Great venue for a Group as well. Noise level was low and we could hear each other.

Brian C.

Yelp
Great dive bar inside the loop. Service solid. Music, patio, old school gaming too! Food is what you'd expect but one of our go to for crawfish when in season!

Yelp
This is your typical Houston dive bar. No frills, and definitely nothing fancy. If you're looking for a spot to just meet some friends for a few beers and maybe even a burger without spending a lot, then look no further. It's dimly lit, not dirty but not the cleanest place in the world. It's a bar...what do you expect? First...bar fare. Decent. They have pretty decent daily specials on drinks. There's usually something on tap for $3.00. That ain't bad! Mixed drinks are also ok. More expensive but pretty decent. The bartenders are nice, funny, and pretty attentive even on busy nights. Second...food. Decent. Burgers are good and so are their wings. My friends rave about the seafood, but I've never had it. It's pretty cool that you can get a burger, fries, and a beer for $12. On Wednesday's you can get a burger n' beer for $10. Again...nothing fancy. But solid taste on everything I've tried. One thing I like is that you can play shuffleboard for free if you're a paying customer. Just ask for the gear, and return it when you're done. If you have your own darts you can also play on any of their dartboards for free. The crowd here is pretty tame. It's a very diverse crowd. Everyone is respectful of everyone else. There's a number of TV's with sports on.

Yelp
I came here for part two of a birthday party because it was close to the birthday girl's house. I was not expecting much, as she said it was a divey neighborhood bar, which is totally not my scene. Overall, it's what you'd expect from a neighborhood pub/bar: dark, dingy, old smell, older/washed out neighborhood people, not service oriented. I have a vodka with Red Bull and it was very mediocre for $6. I wasn't expecting much, but thought it would taste more flavorful and carbonated. I have no idea what their call vodka is, but the drink wasn't very tasty. The bartender was disengaged and a bit surly. I just stayed for that one drink. Also, I had to get out of there as someone said karaoke would be starting soon :( The group I came with was nice, young professionals, but the rest of the clientele was pretty old, super casual and some were bordering on unpresentable. Again, this isn't the type of place I frequent, so giving two starts for a place that probably suits its regulars well. I hope to not be back.

Logan L.

Yelp
Food exceeds expectations and staff is great! The burger I ordered hit the spot and the music was good. Excellent dive bar!
google avatar

Luna Q.

Yelp
Crawfish is awesome! 8.99 crawfish! Amazing! On Sunday's you can get $15 bucket of beer. I wish they had more games to play but food was so good it will not affect my review.
google avatar

Andrea R.

Yelp
Wanting crawfish? This place has the goods and at a better price than most places inside the loop. Crawfish are a nice size and you can add corn, potato, sausage. Just as good as B House without the price tag. Spread the crawfish love and help another local business!
google avatar

Vincent L.

Yelp
Great steak specials on Monday! For 15 dollars we got a 16oz steak, and two sides. We got the bake potatoes and side salads. There were other sides such as tator tots and steam broccolis.
google avatar

Craig T.

Yelp
I like it here bcz more choice of cider. Food is decent price, they have 3 goldentee game. There are more game I saw. Other people was praising chicken wings, tots with pulled pork we had chopped stake with broccoli and bacon. Broccoli was awesome with alots of real bacon. Its a bit far from us but I think my bf would like tp come back.
google avatar

Jay K.

Yelp
5 stars cause i really liked going to this place. and if i remember correctly, this place has that one really funny review from that one guy (go find it lol). crawfish nights were so good. plenty of space to sit and drink. great patio. cheap drink specials.

Yelp
OK, so I was in the mood for some comfort food and college football, so I decided to try T-Bones Sports Pub. I ended up going 3 times. Short version: a relaxed, divey, 21-and-up biker-bar-type of sports pub where the beer is cold, the food is awesome and you can enjoy your favorite pigskin classics with like-minded individuals. Long version: Having reached that wonderful day of the week known as "Diet Cheat Day," I decided to go to T-Bones after seeing it from the outside for years. I'm glad I did. This place is a hidden gem! For starters, it's strictly 21 and older. No brats allowed. (Thank you Jesus!) NOTE: For all you helicopter parents who are going to send me nasty messages full of bad words, I was not referring to YOUR kids, ok? It's those OTHER people's kids - you know, the ones that run around and scream and make life generally miserable for the rest of us in the eating establishment. Frankly, I'm glad that T-Bones (as well as Cuchara) puts it out there that it's adults-only. In fact, during one of my dining experiences there, a gentleman came in and asked the bartender if they could accommodate a party of six "with a four-year-old, if that's OK." (His words.) The bartender politely yet firmly told this clueless man what "21 and up" meant and that they were sorry, but no dice on the kid. Even when the guy said the kid was "well-behaved," the bartender still put the kibosh on it. A "well-behaved" four-year-old? Right. And I'm Lady Gaga. But I digress. So it's a great place for adults. Now on to the food. I've got to say that it's some of the best pub grub in Houston. No kidding. It puts other places like Twin Peaks, Hooters and other sports pubs to shame. Plus, their burgers make Christian's Tailgate look like freakin' amateurs. The burgers on Sunday are usually on special - they're called the "Recovery Burger" and it includes a big seasoned patty with all the trimmings, applewood bacon and a fried egg on top. WOWZA! Eat it if you dare - it's delicious! I also came here on a Monday night for both the Texans game and their Monday Steak Dinner special - a big 12-oz ribeye steak with two sides (including baked potato) and salad for only $15. Un-freakin-believable! I waddled home after that very content. The other items I can recommend are the buffalo wings (perfectly seasoned) and the queso dip. NOTE: If you grew up in the 1980s and ate at Bennigan's, this is the EXACT SAME RECIPE (or at least a close facsimile of it). I blissed out on the chips and queso and felt time roll back 30 years. MMM, MMM! Hot, gooey cheddar and Colby with bits of pepper in it. Their sandwiches are also da bomb dot com. On one particular Saturday, I didn't want to fill up on anything heavy, so the nice lady bartender recommended the BLT. I'm grateful for her advice - it was DELISH!! Pics attached if you don't believe me. Lots of bacon on Texas toast, crispy lettuce, juicy tomatoes, lots of mayo - I could go on and on but the drooling will start any minute now. So - will I be back? You bet your life! This place is on my permanent file. Now, onto the Bowl season!

Yelp
Ok but probably won't return. Came here after a game with some friends looking for a sports bar environment and while nothing stood out as bad, nothing stood out as great either. The bar itself is located in the same plaza as a poker place so there's lots of parking. Inside there are several tables, games, and a shuffle board. They also have an outside patio with many tables and connect four. Service was quick which was a plus. Sure, this is a no frills place, but $6 for a Karbach beer and $8.50 for fried pickles seems like a bit much. Another downer was no dogs allowed on the patio. Like some other reviewers have said, if you're looking for a low key bar to grab a drink with some friends, no problem, otherwise I would probably pass.
google avatar

Vanesa V.

Yelp
Who knew T-bones could make a wicked chicken Philly! We have been coming here every Thursday night now after our kickball games and so far everyone seems to be enjoying themselves here. The bartenders here are great as well, they never mess up my order or my tab especially when this place is packed! To entertain yourself they have darts, pool, shuffle board and a few arcade game.
google avatar

Juvie C.

Yelp
Crawfish. Best Cajun crawfish and tater tots in town in my humble opinion. My boyfriend and I frequent this place at least once a week during crawdaddy season. Those that have been there before know what I am talking about. Those that do not - a trip into this shady looking place is worth the trip. Don't worry, the inside is usually filled with co-ed sporting teams and super friendly staff. This review is based on my personal experience and all statements made herein reflect my personal opinion only. Your experience may be completely different.
google avatar

Gwendolyn D.

Yelp
Pretty cool little spot. It was pretty empty when I swung by, and that's exactly how I like my bars. The bartenders were friendly and the other patrons seemed pretty personable and normal. Not even one weird old drunk guy in there and that's typically a staple of a bar! I would definitely come back. It's a bit out of my way but I like the vibe. Price wise it's great for the area. Location is good. And though it was very laid back when I went by I hear it's really lovely and fun on nights other than Monday. They do karaoke and people dance... Though it's far from me I think it'll be worth it to make the trip and see it when it's busy. Glad I came by tonight. If you're on the fence I'd definitely say it's worth a shot. Swing by and have a beer for me!!
google avatar

Mrs J.

Yelp
By FAR the best crawfish in town!! The pub itself isn't amazing, and I'm not a huge fan of their regular food but I won't go anywhere else for my crawfish
google avatar

Garrett B.

Yelp
We have driven by this place a lot, sometimes the parking lot is full and sometimes not so much ... So we decided to give it a try ... If you are from the Northeast and feeling a little home sick this place will make you feel happy to be in Texas ... When we (my wife and I) walked in we both looked at each other and thought what a nice place, not too loud but not a library ... Just the right darkness for a dive bar to have a drink or two ... That about where this adventure started to turn ... None of the several girls working had much of a personality, could not even hear our waitress ask she asked what we would like ... Asking her opinion between a couple of items on the menu and her response was those are totally different and it's up to what you are looking for ... really ... that's why I ask your opinion .... Guess what you were saying was everything tastes about the same .... Hard to see why this place is still in business ... Shuffleboard is like playing up hill from both ends ... Nothing stood out to either of us, We will not be back ... Live Oak Grill on Hempstead much better! Happy hour only good if you drink lite beer or lone star .... And we grew out of those after high school. Only sign of life was when we got the check and we got the I really need a good tip smile ... Not for us ....

Yelp
The food is great and the bartenders are awesome. Scott, Jeremiah, And Rob are never short of wit and always work their asses off.

Yelp
This place is not too far from our office and due to the fact they open at 11am, we were watching one of the World Cup matches here: Poland vs Senegal. The waiter did pay a lot attention, was very knowledgeable on the content of the menu and also made some pretty cool jokes while taking care of our table. I had a sandwich which contained beef, onions and pepper. It tasted freshly made and the fries were served with mayo on the side - that's a plus right away. It's very dark inside with windows covered, but that obviously also impacts that the screens can be seen better. Overall a good lunch experience and not the last time we'll go there while the World Cup is on!
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
I have been to this dark and divey sports bar a couple of times. I am not typically a fan of sports bars, but they hit the right balance of TV's, atmosphere, serve, and quality that I enjoy. Plenty of TV's, but not so over the top that you can't enjoy hanging out for a while. Dark, with tables scattered, and a comfortable bar. Service has always been on top of things when I visit. All the bartenders and owners are very personable and fun. They have a surprising tap list that is mostly good local breweries. Like Lone Pint, Saint Arnold, and Holler. They have specials on drink and food everyday. The burgers are also a lot better than the dark dive appearance would suggest. This is one of the places I look forward to now when in the mood to go out and catch some Houston sports, drink some local beers, and support a quality local establishment with good prices. I will be here more often.

Yelp
Used to like this place but met a friend there for crawfish the other Sunday and were kicked out because kids are not allowed. T-Bones just lost out on 21 years of business from me.
google avatar

Yelp
Tbones! It's your sports bar that has karaoke on sat nights. My friends love it and we tend to go all the time. Good drinks, affordable, it's a win.

Yelp
Driving along W T.C. Jester near 610, you'll come across a bar with a prosaic name that doesn't look like much from the outside, in a strip center behind the Foodarama. But once inside, it's actually a pretty nice sports bar, with plenty of flat screen TVs and ample space for patrons. There are pool tables and dart boards in almost their own little rooms to one side, with shuffleboard, and Golden Tee spread throughout. The patio out front is a great spot on a nice day. My first time in was not long after I moved into the neighborhood, and I stopped by to do some reconnaissance to determine whether it'd be a good spot to invite friends for football on Saturday. I was immediately welcomed by a friendly bartender, who offered me a "welcome to the neighborhood" beer after we got to talking, and a fellow patron sitting at the bar. We talked some football, and it immediately became apparent that "neighborhood" is the operative word here, with a good mix of young and old, blue collar and white - just people from the neighborhood relaxing and having a good time. Even Alice - of Tall Texan fame - pulled up stool next to mine. We came the next day to watch football, and we started off with some lunch and beers. The burgers are big and juicy, and the nachos come piled high on a plate. The chips and salsa we started with were quite good (no Pace here), and they have an item positively worthy of the State Fair: deep-fried broccoli cheese balls. Gluttonous bliss. I did, however, use the phrase "sports bar" earlier rather than "sports pub" as their sign proclaims because, while they do have fish and chips, they were less than stellar. The crispy exterior was seasoned but perhaps overfried, the fish was mushy inside, and it was served with regular old clear distilled white vinegar, rather than the reddish malt vinegar. Stick to the usual bar food, and they do a great job. There wasn't enough bourbon in the bar to help the Horns against UCLA that day, but we had great time at the bar nonetheless. It's great to sit out on the patio after work just around the corner from my house at this neighborhood watering hole. The bartender from that first night has remembered my name on each subsequent visit.
google avatar

Jerica A.

Yelp
Been here several times. It's always super good food and drinks that aren't weak. Waitress is attentive and doesn't leave you waiting in stuff. The neighborhood dive bar feel is great without feeling dirty.
google avatar

Long N.

Yelp
Came here for the first time this Wednesday. Really chill sports bar with plenty of TV's. We were able to watch the Astros and the Duke-Wisconsin game at the same time. It's crawfish season and they serve it for a good price ($5.99 a lb. I believe). Nice patio area and our waitress was nice. Friendly bouncer and overall friendly people there. Great place if you're in or around the heights area and want to catch a game and a brew.
google avatar

Cindy W.

Yelp
This place came through with some of the best crawfish we could find the last season. Friendly staff!

Jeremy W.

Yelp
Working in the industry and being new to these parts I would say this is a nice hideout with friendly service and staff. Not to mention reasonably priced.
google avatar

Steve R.

Yelp
Always great friendly service and decent food for a bar.Burgers stand out as well as the staff. Great place to meet with friends!
google avatar

Enviimi F.

Yelp
This is my second time coming . Crawfish is amazing ! We were greeted with exceptional service and I will definitely be back

Jorge G.

Yelp
Been coming to TBones since the KC days. Love the fact it's 21 and up and no kids allowed. No dogs allowed either which is awesome. Who wants to be around dogs and kids while trying to enjoy crawfish and a cold beer. Plenty of restaurants for that kind of stuff. Cheap liquor prices and friendly staff. Plenty of parking and big outdoor patio. If your looking for a BAR this is the place. No kids running around or animals barking. If your looking for a family outing with the dog try crowbar or live oak.
google avatar

Houston G.

Yelp
Neighborhood sports bar with surprisingly great food. When in season crawfish are fantastic, we love the way they serve them, in a big bowl rather than the flat trays the crawfish stay hot almost to the bowl is empty. Drinks are reasonably priced and plenty of tv's, pool table, dart boards, and golf video. Its no frills place for sure.
google avatar

Beth V.

Yelp
Horrible. I've been here many times in the past. After having a baby and not being able to go out or drink much, I decided to come here for my friend's birthday party and was totally embarrassed. I was told by the manager, after 2 beers, that I was not allowed to be served anymore. I have no idea what I did or what I said. Totally embarrassed and will never come here again.
google avatar

Michael T.

Yelp
One of my go to sports bars during the winter. I say during the winter, because when the weather's nice, there are plenty of other sports bars with better out door areas. T-Bones is low key and rarely packed unless the Texans or Rockets are on. They have a decent beer selection and the bar food is also above standard. During the season they also have pretty good crawfish. Service is usually pretty good and they have ample seating and parking is a non issue.
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
Very laid back vibe, tons of tvs, and great staff. The burger ($8) was served on a soft, sweet bun that really complimented the quarter inch medium patty. Wine ($4.50/glass) was good. This was a great pub for watching whatever games are playing, or to play your own game of darts/pool.
google avatar

Daniella M.

Yelp
Went in there recently ... I've lived in the area 5 years and have never been. My husband has been going because it's a low key place unlike the other places in the area. He took me recently to watch a Rockets game and I liked it a lot. We had the crawfish which were a bit small but I didn't mind. They had good flavoring and for a sports bar, they were good. I do wish the corn had been cooked in the crawfish boil rather than boiled in regular water because the corn had no flavor but as I got down to the bottom of my bucket of crawfish, I just soaked my corn up in that juice. No biggy. We had the potato skins which were good. I saw someone order a burger and tots across from me and I'll be trying that next time. It looked good and I'm a sucker for some tots. Not a fancy place but if you're looking for a place that hides from the scensters, this is it. Food is good!
google avatar

Jason T.

Yelp
Used to come here all the time. But that was years ago. Went there recently and it's only gotten worse. Every bad thing you have seen in the reviews are true. Horribly nasty bathrooms. Holes in the walls that have been there for years. Poor service. Over served loud drunks. A/C vents held up with scotch tape. The smell of raw sewage. The only thing right about this place is the newly remodeled deck out back. And it's okay at best. I seriously feel like I need to go to a truck stop bathroom to wash my hands after coming here because even the worst one is safer than the facilities here.
