Sigh. Food was great, but service was subpar.
Had a reservation on Mother's Day at an odd time, so it wasn't super busy - about half capacity. Still took about 15 minutes to get seated, with the hostess mainly being MIA. When they finally called us, they tried to seat the six of us into two small tables that they had set for five - when we told her there were six, she said she could squeeze another person at the other end. Mom wasn't having it, and asked the bus boy to politely add a free table to our group.. which was right next to our tiny territory. Points to the bus boy for complying, negative points to unhelpful hostess.
Proceed to order drinks and food. Proceed to wait for 20 painful minutes before drinks come out, then about another 20-30 for the food. The place looked understaff, as it was hard to wave down our server for things like water refills. However, when the food came it, it was solid - Lamb Vindaloo all the way, extra spicy please! Naan was okay, pretty small portions for the order. Mango lassi was also good, but Dad thought it was a bit too sweet and had to add ice. I thought it was great as is though! Overall, it was fairly pricy as well, but that's to be generally expected for Park Ave restaurants.
All in all - pretty okay. I'd be interested in trying the Chinese portion of their menu in the future to see what their Indian take is on that, but it looked fairly westernized so I wasn't really keen on trying it for my first time there. I'll probably give this place another shot when it isn't a holiday to see if the service is better - if so, this may bump up to a four.
