Where to Find Terrific Tacos Around D.C.

"Restaurateur Victor Albisu keeps growing his Taco Bamba chain with neighborhood-specific tacos served at each. Alexandria’s Landmark locale, for instance, showcases slaw-topped Korean-style chicken nuggets. Taco Bamba made a triumphant return to D.C. last year." - Tierney Plumb, Adele Chapin

Google
I've gone to Taco Bamba since the original location in Pimmit Hills opened. Love their tacos. This particular location is on the smaller side of locations, and isn't as easy to find. Food is on point and service is excellent.

Google
Really great authentic tacos and other Mexican foods. Probably the best nachos I've eaten on my life, made with homemade tortilla chips and the most tender and jucy steak ever served on a pile of chips. I also tried the carne picada and al pastor tacos, both the perfect balance of spices, tender meat, and handmade tortillas.

Google
Great atmosphere and good service. In my opinion the Tacos are pretty good but a tiny bit over priced. If they lowered the tacos by .50 cents, i think it would be worth every bite. The tortas are really good. The 5 different taco sauces are all special in their own flavors. Their birria tacos might not be the best in NOVA but are in the top 10 for sure.

Google
Great place , excellent service, Ruth was so nice and helpful, food as usual was great, I definitely recommend it

Google
Food was really good! We had the taco bowl, taco bamba signature taco and barbacoa. We are eyeing the breakfast burrito as we haven’t found a good place that will top our SATX experience. The staff were nice and fully hands on. The place has bar, outdoor and indoor sitting. Cool place to hangout and have a drink(s) and taco. They also offer other food aside from tacos so you will not be limited with only taco. One thing is they need to wipe their tables almost all of it is so sticky. Overall experience was really good.

Google
Always a good vibe at this location. The staff works hard to ensure quality service is provided. Recommend the Bamba wings or the taco de camaron. The seasonal drinks are 🔥🔥! Samantha is an amazing bartender. The cooks, the bartenders and the servers are all great. Definitely check this spot out if you’re in the area.

Google
I love Taco Bamba - I was a regular customer at the original in Falls Church when I lived there. This particular Landmark location needs a lot of work, both in the kitchen and with the service team. The food is consistently served cold - not warm, but cold, as if the kitchen didn’t even bother to reheat it. Service is slow and not particularly friendly or welcoming - they have a bar and a happy hour, but the sour service is a discouragement. Getting your check at the bar is a real challenge - you are better off ordering at the register and paying in advance. It’s unfortunate that this branch of Taco Bamba can’t be at the standard of the rest of the chain.

Google
I ordered a Torta Bamba, which is my favorite when I am at Taco Bamba, but the Torta Bamba from this location sucked. The meat was kind of stale and hard I could hardly chew it. Unfortunately I had ordered to go and I ended up throwing it away. The bartender was nice though and I really liked the location and their outdoor seating area is nice too.

Yelp
I swear the Alexandria location has better prices and is faster than the Springfield location. Love all the tacos and prices are great! Love that you can get breakfast all day and free coffee. Love that you can also order off the reg menu all day. Love the salsas. Love the music. Love the casual vibe. Order a wide variety - it's a playground for your tastebuds!

Yelp
Sitting at the bar I noticed order after order come in through what I assume was to-go, yet their service was prompt. The bar tenders were easy to talk with and gave space when needed. From what I can tell the place is clean. Washing my hands prior to eating, I noticed the bathrooms were clean. Overall the location is clean. The food is pretty consistent at THIS location. I can't say about other locations but I will update when I make the comparison. The garnish, like lime and grapefruit slices, are dehydrate on the spot. Pretty interesting and makes for a "pretty drink", per my other half.

Yelp
Flavors in the tacos and fried rice were amazing! The seasonings pack a punch of unique combinations. I was pleasantly pleased with my choices. Our group of 11 all enjoyed our selections. We had margaritas and chips and queso and guacamole to start and everything was delicious. Even though it is an order at the counter place they also served our group table side. I will definitely be back to try more items!

Dean V.

Yelp
The nachos used to taste better. The cheese now used is grainy and despite they colorful presentation the nachos taste bland aside from an overwhelming taste of the seasoning used for the meat. My last visit.

Yelp
My kids and I love this place! We eat here wherever we are in the area. The food is delicious. The employees are really nice and helpful. About the food: We usually get the Shrimp Quesadillas, which are good. But today we tried the Fire in the Hole Quesadillas and OMG, a party in your mouth! My daughter is a Wing girl. She really enjoyed the dry rubbed wings. There was a Jerk chicken taco advertised at the counter so I tried that. It was good. I didn't think to get pics of everything because we dug in so fast. LOL

Yelp
Wow! This place was amazing. I went for breakfast and left a happy customer. I normally don't go for a savory breakfast meal. I wanted something quick so that I could go on with the rest of my day. Taco Bamba definitely did not disappoint. I got one OG taco and one Migas taco. The taco tacos were super flavorful and delicious. The perfect amount of ingredients and hit the spot. I also got an order of the churros with the dulce de leche sauce. The sauce was warm so it made the crispy churros even better. I would love to check this place out for their lunch or dinner menu. I believe they also have a happy hour. This location had an outdoor seating area which would be perfect to get some fresh air while enjoying some delicious food and drinks.

Yelp
Poor service. Not well priced. Boring food. Too much good competition to settle for a so-so product.

Yelp
First time visiting on Memorial Day and it wasn't crowded. That was good for me because I got to talk to a staff member and get some great recommendations. She took her time, went over the menu with me and I was happy with my choices. The restaurant itself is not that big but there is a nice space for dining in, and it's a casual atmosphere. My order: Tinga taco Al Pastor taco Taco Bamba **all of my tacos were good. The portions and flavors were to my satisfaction. Black beans and rice - didn't like. Mango drink - made in house. Sweet and very refreshing. I put it on the freezer to get it really cold and enjoyed it. Total came to around $23

Yelp
Of all the Taco Bambas in the area (which there are many) and the dozens of tacos that they serve in each, I think the most memorable is the "El Randino," a filipino version of their staple taco where a crispy pork nugget is complemented by chicharron and carnitas and cut with a citric soy sauce. The banana ketchup definitely adds to the mix to give it that authentic filipino taste whereby you're transformed to a wonderful diner-like setting. Props to the chefs who weave in all these flavors.

Yelp
I had Taco Bamba delivered while I worked through lunch. It was fast. It was fresh. It was delicious! I had the Power Bowl and was not disappointed. It was like a super foods taco salad. I could customize it based on my food sensitivities too! I'll definitely have this again!

Yelp
So I've always liked huevos rancheros in the chain since I started going to the one in Falls Church. I ordered them at the little river store, today and I had a list of small changes: eggs over easy, and extra of that excellent black bean purée. The waitperson, Ruth was very busy Covering the room alone at that moment. but she listened very carefully to my broken Spanish and. Confused English and wrote on the tablet. And the dish was excellent. Better than any place north of the Yucatán . Kudos to the store's recipes and. Order system and Most of all Ruth, for her care and attention.

Yelp
I know everyone goes here for their tacos, but don't sleep on their breakfast. There are not many options for a casual breakfast spot, it's usually either fast-food breakfast sandwiches from a fast-food joint or a sit-down type of place like Silverado's or First Watch. Taco Bamba fills the void of just being able to walk in, order a high-quality Made-To-Order breakfast, and you can either sit down and get your food or take it home. I like the Mexican twist, there are not too many breakfast options outside of American food, and I love Huevos Rancheros and the other breakfast offerings here. It's nice to be able to get a good quality casual breakfast on the weekend but not take up so much time so I can get other stuff done. I got their OG breakfast Taco and Huevos Rancheros with asada added. They gave a ton of steak, and if you aren't a big eater, it's enough for two. I plan to try their other breakfast offerings. It's also not crowded at all for now, so if you want a quick breakfast, you can get it here. A nice little bonus is they give free coffee for breakfast and up to a certain time, so you can get as much coffee as you want to go with your brekkie.

Yelp
Nice spot wings were cooked to perfection!! Tacos were good but for my first time I wished they offered/included some sort of sauce in my Togo bag ordered 9 tacos to go for family and no sauce was in bag!! Still overall good experience

Yelp
What a nice taco spot. If your in the area this is a must stop! Not only do they have an amazing range of tacos and dishes. They're also open for breakfast !(which I haven't had) ... But Breakfast tacos !!! I think I might . Lol. The customer service was average. There prices are reasonable. The flavor profile was standard. The portion size is average. However the presentation is beautiful. I love the fact they have an outdoor area should you want to sit outside. There is a bar area too with a few nice drinks on the menu. Sit where you like after ordering if you want to dine in. It seems like a popular spot, I notice it fills quickly but they move efficiently to get your food to you. My food was nice and hot!! Even after making a few pit stops before going straight home. Definitely coming back to try more options. Hope to see you guys there. Great job Taco Bamba

Yelp
Wanted a quick bite and stumbled on this Taco Bamba location. It's near a shopping plaza surrounded with other restaurant options and an international food grocery story. My friend has been to their DC location and was excited to try this. The food: pretty good. Their menu is a bit intimidating because there are so many great options, and to be honest, I wanted to try everything even though I wasn't very hungry. I didn't eat the egg with my bowl but all together it was good. My only take back is that the barbacoa was incredibly salty. Maybe next time I'll get a different meat. Plus they have a good juice/soda selection. The atmosphere: a bit chaotic, but most of the staff are very welcoming. The restaurant is a bit tight with limited seating. They do have a bar with seating but it's "only for customers who are purchasing drinks." We sat down and didn't get a chance to look at their drink menu before being told this so we got up and waited for another guest party to leave. I'd give this place another try because it does have potential.

Shoniqwa U.

Yelp
Awesome tacos, cool ambiance, good service, crowded bur food still came out quick. A little pricey, but the food quality justifies it. We'll be back.

Yelp
Not all Taco Bambas are the same! This location blows Springfield OUT OF THE WATER in terms of food quality and service. The GM is such a nice guy, went out of his way to make sure my order was correct and the asada tacos were delicious. 5 stars is hard to earn, but they earned them.
google avatar

Russ G.

Yelp
What can I say but yum!!! Got the pack a bowl and it was packed and delicious was well worth the price and will come back to try the other menu items

Yelp
The first time I ever tried Taco Bamba was at the Falls Church location years ago and it was soo good! I've been to their other locations, but I'm so happy now it is closer to home. Located in the shopping center with Grant Mart next to Mama Chicken. There is plenty of parking so that wont be an issue. Also, it looks like they have an outdoor patio area. I love how each location is slightly unique and offers different kinds of dishes and specialty tacos. I ended up ordering a lengua taco and a sopes with carne asada and it was delicious. The lengua taco is tender, soft and not too chewy. The sopes is a thick fried flour tortilla with pinto bean spread, choice of meat, cabbage slaw and topped with cheese, crema, jalapenos, and avocado. This was SO GOOD! I never tried the sopes before but I saw someone order that at their other location so I was intrigued to try it out. I was unsure how to eat it but I ate it open-face style and every bite was tasty. You get a bit of tortilla, meat, and toppings. The sope is probably my new favorite dish. Overall, Taco Bamba always serves excellent food, and for those who haven't tried Taco Bamba before, you must go!

Donna-Marie T.

Yelp
This chain is by far my favorite taco place in the area. I had only been to the original location a few years back. Decided to try this location and the classic tacos did not disappoint. The original creations were okay but I am a taco purist at heart so anything more than onions and cilantro is overkill for me. The el randino had a piece of dried out pork that was unedible. The street corn was also really good. Carne asada, al pastor, and carnitas were top tier.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Excellent have had a variety plus the corn and the pasoli will be back soon for more can't wait
google avatar

Jerome C.

Yelp
I'm happy with the service and the food and prices are very good with a fusion of international flavors and styles

Trucial E.

Yelp
Dry dry dry. Salty salty salty. I don't know what's wrong with you NOVA ppl these tacos were pretty terrible. You could tell everything including the chips was just sitting out for way too long. The chips were cold and overly salty. If you want fresh tacos don't come here. Feel like I wasted so much money.

Yelp
This particular Taco Bamba recently had opened up on the LA Mart plaza, right next to Mama's Chicken. As other Taco Bambas, the menu offers breakfast items, apps, tacos, signature tacos, bowls, tortas, quesadillas, various sides, and even burgers. We came here for an early dinner, and we ordered: +Carne Asada tacos - served on a corn tortilla with onions; large chunks of beef steak that was well marinated; slight on the tougher end, these still had good flavor and was a simple taco +Bruce Leo - with grouper, green chile, sweet & sour salsa macha, blistered napa cabbage, fried ginger, and cilantro; the menu stated that the group was crispy, but it didn't seem to have any batter on it nor was it crispy; it was kind of soggy +Spicy 'Shroom - with chipotle portobellos, grilled corn, cotija, pickled onions, heart of palm, cilantro, and pepitas; this was super spicy, and not in a good way - it seemed that the focus was heat, heat, and more heat; also, it first came out with cilantro, in which we requested there to be none; also, ikt was just way too overpowering with the chipotle, and the mushrooms were just overly mushy +Veggiemachatatte - with crispy sweet potatoes, salsa macha, toasted almonds, sweet garlic sauce, burnt chile chitate, and green onions; we didn't really taste any of the sweet potatoes, and the taste was off-putting +Mexican Street Corn - with mayo, red chile, lime, and cotija; the corn was smaller, and the dressing and the spices were just way too overwhelming - way too much mayo and way too sour; this was hardly touched after a bite We just felt that there was just too much going on, or there may have been a lack of quality control in terms of the portions of the toppings. The corn tortillas were also more on the dry end, so they did fall apart easily. Staff were friendly, and there were plenty of seating, both tables, bar tables, and counter seating. Plenty of parking in the shared plaza lot. +avoid the Mexican Street Corn +double-check your orders with any customizations +friendly staff +plenty of parking in the shared plaza lot
google avatar

Matt A.

Yelp
Strong 4 here. Stopped in for carry out and had a Marg while waiting for my tacos. The atmosphere is very casual but fun with a full bar and lots of options for food. Once getting home all of our tacos and street corn were delicious - will definitely come back when in the area.
google avatar

Paul J.

Yelp
We found this Taco Bamba just as it opened, and boy was it worth it! Delicious flavors, hearty good, inventive combinations. My favorites are the Cup 'o Bamba with a perfectly cooked egg (the yolk was gooey and oozed all over the place) and the Bruce Leo (essentially a fish taco with a kick). If you're near a Taco Bamba, you gotta stop in and try it. And since there are several in the metro DC area, you have plenty of option. You won't be sorry!
google avatar

J Warren R.

Yelp
Same great tacos, same menu, but their newest location. So glad this local taco joint is expanding and bringing their spin on delicious tacos to others in the DMV. All the tacos are superb, made fresh and tasty -- just read the menu and pick something. Or try something new. You won't go wrong with anything here. Outdoor seating available as well as bar stools inside. Fast service. ...and they have a full bar -- I'm thinking margaritas next time.
google avatar

Yelp
I came in on a Monday to get one of my favorites here which is the torta with carnitas and as always I add an egg to it, so happen that on this day I went back home as I live 30 mins from this location, when I get home I was a bit upset that when I took a bite into the torta the egg was missing, as I called back to the restaurant, I was answered by Lucas the store general manager. Let me tell you the way that he carried himself and the way he made me feel that I was valued as a customer is rare to find now a days, he offered me to comeback for a torta on the house as well as chips and guacamole. To make one thing clear I didn't comeback for the free torta, but to thank Lucas as he really made me feel valued and cared for. It's rare to find managers specially General manager who will go above and beyond, this being the case. THANK YOU SO MUCH LUCAS. Your a very good manager as well as a kind person. Needless to say one of my best experience here and will be coming back soon. THANKS AGAIN LUCAS.

Yelp
Delicious food executed well with a wildly inventive and creative menu at fair prices. Great vibes inside and outside on the patio. And the chef and GM, Edwin, is amazing. Friendly, professional, just tremendous in every way. Corporate headquarters should hire him.

Rob S.

Yelp
Wicked good tacos. Decently priced and an ok ambiance. Better for take out. Outdoor seating good for summer

Yelp
this place is AMAZING! highly recommend the taco bamba and the carne asada quasadilla!!!! 10/10
google avatar

Walter M.

Yelp
I was excited to go to their new location, as I it's down the street from my house. I ordered a veggie bowl. Later that day, I got food poisoning. Luckily I got better later the next day. Now I'm hesitant on going again and will go to other Mexican restaurants nearby.
google avatar

Koffee B.

Yelp
FOOD, phenomenal! Customer service, outstanding! Tacos are great, with service speedy! Drinks are amazing. I will definitely be back. Chill vibe. Street corn was perfect. Yes, you have to pay for queso but the salsa is unlimited. Plenty of seating. Our hostess was great and very accommodating. Food was fresh and hot. Ordered shrimp and goat tacos, two words, another order.... Please. You can view your food, while it's being made, where else can you go and do that. Honestly, if you haven't had tacos that made you feel like this... you're missing out!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
The quesadilla is really bad it has maybe two small pieces of chicken in the whole quesadilla with no cheese. I never had such a bad food in my life. They need to get sue for this type of food....
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
Chicken milanesa torta is outstanding. Breakfast sopa is very good and filling. Nuestros tacos and the classic tacos are outstanding. And that BOWL! Wow, both delicious and PACKED with veggies and healthy stuff.
google avatar

Yelp
the location in alexandria is new & after my recent visit i am happy it's near my house. i've been to the springfield location a long time ago & wasn't that keen on taco bamba. my experience recently was much better. the hostess/cashier was so nice & welcoming. i don't really know her title because she was also in charge of being behind tbd bar as well lol. i ordered chicken tacos, dirty style, & they were amazing. perfect. i also ordered their white peach fresca, DELICIOUS. i wish i could've bought a gallon of the stuff. i was able to also try the watermelon & strawberry one as well. the watermelon tastes exactly as it's name. the strawberry was good, just very sweet. if i had to choose the white peach is the way to go! the only reason this review isn't 5 stars is because there was a dead fly on the bar 2 chairs down from me & i thought that was gross & unsanitary. but i would definitely come back here!
google avatar

Erin R.

Yelp
Keeps getting closer to home! Taco bamba is my favorite taco joint in the DMV. I love that each location has unique tacos and 2 of the ones I tried from here were great! The korean chicken taco is excellent. I'll order this every time I order from here. The ethiopian one was also good! I got my normal tinga and a side of habenero salsa, and the batch of salsa i got was HOT. Side note, their website looks like they are doing delivery at this location - they are not (at least not through them, uber eats, etc. might be). Dine in or pick up only for now.
google avatar

Josh G.

Yelp
I'm glad this location opened and that the brand seems to be expanding in recent years. This location is reasonably sized all things considered and there is ample parking in the supermarket parking lot. I really don't think you can go wrong with the tacos on the menu (though my favorites are the Porque Pop and the Arabe), and I also really like the grilled guacamole. The quesadillas are also generously sized as well, but I'd probably recommend tacos over anything else. The quality can be a little more hit or miss for takeout orders--I've done a few since they opened, but overall, this location is worth a visit and has a nice ambiance.
google avatar

Meredith M.

Yelp
My friend & I went to the new location yesterday for a late lunch! FYI: you have to order drinks at the bar. You can also order food at the bar. They also have a line just for food purchase. The space is pretty small, but the vibe is amazing. They have a lot of parking in the lot. We actually got to talk with the owner & he's very down to earth. He said they have plans for an outdoor space, as well. We had Paul as our bartender & he couldn't have been better. Service was top notch! We both had the watermelon margarita, which was the drink of the day. I hope they add this to the regular menu because it was delicious! We had the bamba fries & the spaghetti quesadilla. These were the recs of the bartender. We were skeptical of the spaghetti quesadilla, but try it! It was so good! Thank you Paul & taco bamba for such a great experience- I def want to return to try more of the menu.
google avatar

Monica G.

Yelp
So. Much. Salt. I ordered six shrimp tacos plus guacamole and chips to go. The tortillas were bland and unnecessarily thick taking away from the flavor of the (smaller than normal) shrimp and toppings. The guacamole was an odd shade of green and too salty. The chips were also way too salty. I typically love Mexican food and Taco Bamba, but this experience was a big disappointment.
google avatar

Sonam D.

Yelp
Love the Vienna location. Great atmosphere & food is amazing. The carne taco is absolute perfection. My friends are picky eaters & this place is a no brainer. They could use some better seating outside. Some tables were squeezed in the back, couldn't get there without having the other table move for me to pass.
google avatar

Bert O.

Yelp
I really like Taco Bamba. I've been a fan since they had their first location. I usually like to keep it simple with the Bacho Nachos, Steak Quesadilla, or Carne Asada Tacos. I also like that they started offering their Horchata in a bottle instead of a cup when ordering delivery. I like that they are a modern taco restaurant, they have some interesting taco choices.

Yelp
If not for Lucas or Lukas - however you spell this name. This location gets a 1. I order 11 tacos via Uber Eats. Received 9 in a seal taped bag. Clearly wasn't Uber driver. The two tacos missing where chicken Tingas. The one person in the group who doesn't eat beef/fish ordered those and of course they didn't arrive. We received 9 tacos, 3 gringas, 2 Asian ones, 1 shrimp, 3 barbacoa. I truly don't understand why it's so fucken difficult to double check delivery orders. Why is it so fucken hard to read a receipt before taping the bag and confirm everything is in the bag? We pay absurd upcharged menu fees, service fees, delivery fees, etc. For example my service fee was $9 for 11 tacos and I paid $10 tip, plus upcharged prices for every items I ordered - literally more than double regular prices - and those dumbasses who pack the bags don't have the common sense to double check that the order is accurate? Thankfully the manager who answered our call, Lucas or Lukas, drove to us with our missing items. He is the only reason those idiots didn't get a 1 star. Promote Lucas or Lukas, and for everyone else that was involved in failing to properly and accurately prepare an order... put them on a two week notice. Sorry not sorry - it's not that fucken hard to get an order right, especially an order of someone that pays absurd prices for delivery.

Yelp
Stopped by because we were craving margaritas. The manager Lucas greeted us before we even walked in. We sat at the bar and he recommended the Porque Pop taco and the Bamba Fries. Both were absolutely amazing. The chicken in the tacos was crispy and really blended the two styles together. We had to give our compliments to the chefs. The service was amazing and I definitely would recommend this Taco bamba to anybody!
google avatar

Danielle J.

Yelp
If you're craving tacos this is the place! They're tacos are amazing and different at their different locations. Music is a little loud but the place is clean and fast service. Food is great though.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Taco Bamba doesn't disappoint! We live in the area and were waiting patiently for this new location to open for a while now. Worth the wait! Bamba Fries, Pack-The-Bowl, and Cheeseburger and Skirt Steak tacos are our go to. I'm not a smokey drink fan, but was able to put down a frozen mezcal marg like it was my job. Thanks for opening a location near us!!!
google avatar

Deb B.

Yelp
SO excited for this location opening!! Love that it's right around the corner, and no dealing with crazed Chik-ers at Springfield anymore . Absolutely delicious veggiemachatatte taco and traditional camaron taco. Yum!! But, the cocktail. The cocktail!! El Rey del pop. Incredible. Go. Go right now

Chantay N.

Yelp
Great food and excellent ambience. The food is something to die for. Always crowded need to bring more to the area.

Esther F.

Yelp
It's officially been a 37 minute wait time for 3 tacos. HOW????? Absolutely ridiculous to be waiting this long. Never coming back. Not worth the time
