"Taco Cat, Uptown Powderhorn by Teagan White. Yep, it really exists -- a taco place with delivery, only by bike (and with a cat mascot, because you CAN have everything in life). Taco Cat serves up creative takes on street-style tacos, burritos, and Sunday-brunch breakfast burritos. They'll even bring you bombers of beer from East Lake Brewery. There aren't a lot of eateries out there able to boast specials as abominable as a "$4.20 Cool-Ranch-Dorito fried-mac-n-cheese taco with bacon, ranch, hot sauce, and Cheeto crumble" while also providing unique vegan options, but Taco Cat is next level. Order it for delivery (and don't forget to tip the messenger!) or stop by their walk-in location at [Midtown Global Market](www.onthegrid.city/minneapolis-st-paul/uptown-powderhorn/midtown-global-market)."

Where to Find All the New Foods at the 2019 Minnesota State Fair, Mapped - Eater Twin Cities

"Inside the Midtown Global Market stand Taco Cat is going all in on the State Fair traditions of deep fried foods on a stick. Choose from either vegetarian, or meaty green chorizo tacos impaled on skewers. This is also a good spot for a cold drink when the weather heats up, with horchata spiked with cold press coffee." - Joy Summers

Another Midtown Global Market hit! The food is BOMB and but it’s actually pricey for what it is and the location. However they do have a good variety of sauces and every sauce I tried was good. I also LOVE there chips, they are the perfect density and texture I think they make them or fry them themselves. *There guacamole could be a bit better...unfortunately I prefer mine. **there catering is good for group meetings or even parties! ***be carful ordering large amounts of the chips they are hard to finish and make sure you order enough sauce and salsas for them!

Google
I love these tacos. I’ve yet to have something I didn’t love. My go to is the regular Chicken Taco. So much fresh and good flavor with just the right amount of heat. It’s always ready quick even with a big line and the staff is always super nice.

Google
Three stars for now. The breakfast steak burrito I had was four star worthy but I need more samples to bump it up. The taste and size were great.

Google
Probably the tastiest tacos I've had in the twin cities! Ive tried all type of tacos from traditional to fusion, and this place just beats them all. My favorite place for tacos!

Google
I appreciate how much effort this restaurant puts in to try to make a good taco. However, I found the tortillas a little off-putting, considering they were a little hard and were flour tortillas. Nonetheless, the meat was good and the the toppings were also not bad. Weren't the greatest tacos, but also were not bad by any means.

Google
One of 2-3 remaining functional American institutions. There is not a clunker on the entire menu. Don't forget to ask for the off menu gochujang mock duck burrito. It is perfect. This place is an absolute gem and one of the great parts about Twin Cities bike culture.

Google
Amazing. I'm a white man, but I eat a lot of tacos. They use real white corn tortillas, not flour. I had the regular steak, and pork tacos, and the speciality McFly. The two plain ones were good, plenty of flavor, but the speciality ones are bomb! This will definitely be a new lunch spot for me!

Jennifer Hatt

Google
Tacos were amazing! Also loved the chips and guacamole. Would love to return sometime. 3 tacos, chips and guacamole was about 15$

Yelp
I love sopes and you can't find them everywhere in Minnesota! This local Taqueria is in the Phillips neigbor hood as a part of the market food plaza. We actually came for Peruvian but Mondays they aren't open. I'm glad we have this place a shot, excellent asada tacos, burritos and the corn boat, meat beans, fresco and salsa made for a killer lunch. You can park on the street for free or in the gates plaza across the street.

Yelp
If you like to Camp between orgasms, or act very camp between orgasms, then you may be one of the "O-camp-O" people. I am not one of those people but I respect those people and can provide said Os for those people. I meant camping advice. Never mind. I've been to Ocampo many times and they now have many locations. I've checked all of them out once or twice and the original one probably ten times over the years that I've been coming here. They have pretty good Mexican food at pretty good prices but some of their more home style and unusual dishes are a little more pricey. I like the location on Lake Street itself rather than in a market, that is open until really late at night, whereas this location is inside the Hipster Midtown Global Market, so it caters much more to tourists and non-latinos but still maintains a good amount of ethnicity of authenticity and I appreciate that because a lot of the stuff inside this Market is not the most authentic in the world.

Yelp
Got takeout from here, and my order was well packed - the container of soup was wrapped completely in plastic wrap, so that it wouldn't leak. The server was very nice and made sure to ask on every item I ordered if I was okay with everything on it. Overall, I enjoyed the food and would come back here to get my authentic Mexican fix. The one downside is that you have to pay for parking here - I parked in the parking lot (as opposed to the metered parking by the curb) and had to pay over $1.75 for 1.5 hours - this was the least amount of time the system allowed. Carnitas Enchiladas w/ Red Sauce (5/5) - I'm not sure if there was actually any red sauce on this, but what I loved about this was that it was so light and fresh, not like the heavy, overly saucy and cheesy enchiladas that you get at Tex Mex places. It came with rice and beans, and the rice was very flavorful and delicious. Tacos (5/5) - I ordered my tacos a la carte, and got a carnitas taco, a carne asada taco, and a pastor taco. The tacos are made with corn tortillas and come with onions, cilantro, sliced radish, and lime wedges on the side. I think they heat up the tortillas on the stove since they were almost a little crispy on the bottom, which was nice - I've definitely been to places where the tortillas aren't warm. The carnitas were a tad dry. I liked that the carne asada pieces were slightly bigger than at other places that slice them pretty thin. The pastor was very savory and flavorful - I liked this meat the most since it had so much flavor - you didn't need to rely on sass to make the taco taste good. Menudo (3/5) - This was my first time ever trying menudo. The tripe was tender, but the flavor of the soup was a little too peppery for me. Came with toppings (avocado, lettuce, onions, radish) and your choice of tortillas, bread, or tostadas - I opted for tostadas and was surprised it came with two tostadas and had a ton of toppings on them. With all the other great options on the menu, I don't think I would get this again.

Yelp
We got Los Ocampo delivered, so this review is specifically regarding take-out/delivery. We did notice that the bitesquad menu was different from the menu on the website, but we still had plenty to choose from! I chose the Hurarachazo combo--a handmade masa cake massive taco thing. It was spectacular and filling--I could only eat half! The flavors were complex and the fresh cheese and radish really made it unique. Rice and beans were good classic Mexican style. I had ordered guac with chips on the side, but they forgot the chips and the guac was tiny for 99 cents. The sauces and salsas they provided had great flavor--the red and creamy green one were hot as heck! But the salsa verde green sauce hit the spot. I'd like to go here in person to try some other foods and see what the experience is like eating in.

Yelp
I wish I ate here more often. As it is, friends and acquaintances to whom I've raved about this place all seem to have become regulars. What the heck is wrong with me? Anyway, I love the Mid-Town Market and this is one of my favorite spots within. Ocampos tacos are so bright, fresh and vibrant. Carnitas are tender and savory and the Tinga de Pollo packs a nice spicy punch. Huarache is a great dish for a bitterly cold winter's day. The Flan Napolitano pairs nicely with a hot cup of Mexican coffee. I have to go back to try more of the menu. And soon.

Yelp
While strolling around the Midtown Global Market I saw a gigantic stuffed "taco" and ordere one up. It goes by, Taco Acorazado, and means battleship and it is a beast of a "taco." This things is a giant poblano pepper filled with cheese, battered in whipped eggs, deep fried, placed on a bed of Mexican rice and two corn tortillas, and topped with grilled jalapeños amd onions. It is a fiery combo and is basically like a chile relleno dinner over two corn tortillas and good luck eating it like a taco. This monstrosity is a fork and knife experience and you won't need too much salsa to spice this bad boy up. The steak taco I split was very good and made with high quality beef and comes onions, cilantro, and sliced radishes, just like in Mexico City. If you find yourself in Minneapolis visiting the Midtown Global Market and want some autehtic Mexican food stop here.

Yelp
If you're looking for flavor and authenticity THIS IS THE PLACE. I went here for some redemption tacos on a Wednesday after being sorely disappointed by the restaurant (that shall not be named) that I visited on taco Tuesday. They have a HUGE menu that's very easy to customize given they have about 20 different meat/veggie options. I went with the marinated chicken but in the past I've tried the chicken tinga which is a better option if you're looking for some heat. An additional plus: I love the Global Market location because if your date isn't craving Mexican like you are, they have a dozen other options to choose from. There's a parking ramp across the street as well that they will validate with a stamp on your ticket if you order food so it's nice not having to worry about or pay for parking.

Yelp
Went for the first time tonight and will not be going back. We ordered 2 elotes and an enchilada plate with red sauce. The elotes were great (hence the 2 stars instead of 1). The chicken enchiladas were terrible. They grilled the tortillas before rolling them so they didn't hold their meat. They were way too dry and sad. They gave us the wrong sauce and the avocado sliced on top was bruised and browning. The lettuce was damp and the meat was cold too. The beans and rice, while.they had decent flavor, were cold and filmy. I understand that they were prepping for close, but we got there and placed our order at 7:35, waited 20 minutes and were served something basically inedible.

Yelp
It was pretty difficult to choose from the selections and restaurants at Midtown Global Market! I always hit up my usual places, but decided that today, I'd chow down on some tacos. I ordered three steak tacos just as singles. You can do the combo which gets you rice with beans and a drink. The tacos were served with the corn tortillas with cilantro, onions garnished on top. They also give you radishes and limes on the side. They do give you sauces, but you have to ask for them when you go to pick up your meal. I thought the tacos were alright -- tortilla was a little bit soggy and steak did not have a lot of flavor. I appreciate that they added a lot of onions and cilantro on top and included a lot of limes! The next thing I ordered which is pretty much the star of the show here is elote! This is my absolute favorite thing ever and I wished I could have ordered more! It's Mexican street corn slathered in mayo, cotija cheese, lime, and chili pepper! The chili pepper gives it a nice kick to the rich, tangy, and creamy taste. The spice level is pretty mild, so it doesn't overpower everything else. Highly recommend getting this! I know I will when I come back!

Yelp
I've been to the Los Ocampo across the street many times and had always loved it, so I figured visiting their stand in the Midtown Global Market would be a safe and tasty decision - and it was! You can get all the same dishes as you can at the Chicago & Lake location: tasty gorditas, enormous burritos, amazing churrasco, and succulent mangoes. You can select from many delicious meat options, such as the al pastor pork (my favorite) or the chicken tinga. And once you get your food, the seating options here in the market are more varied and comfortable vs. at their home location. Ultimately, if you're craving Mexican food, it's hard to beat Los Ocampo. I think I'll still mainly patron their Chicago & Lake location (since if I'm in the Global Market, I usually want something different), but they're pretty much identical, so visit whichever you like!

Yelp
I was looking for the torta restaurant that I don't think exists in this market area anymore. But I found this place which is even better! The tortas at this place are bomb!! It was such a fun time eating their food. Can't wait to do it again next time I'm in midtown

Yelp
Wow, Taqueria Los Ocampo - Global Market was outstanding. The ambiance is really nice. You will not be disappointed with anything here, just have Torta, its fantastic. And also, the service was fantastic and the staff was super pleasant. So pleased with this place.

Yelp
Hands down, THE best Mexican taco I've had in years!! Luckily, I speak Spanish because I don't think they spoke English. Or, maybe they just assumed that I spoke Spanish...who knows. Everytime I visit Minneapolis I will be going back for more of these tacos. I ordered the carnitas, no cheese with onion, radish and cilantro and some kind of green salsa on the side. Everything was flavorful! I could taste the seasonings, herbs and spices in the meat. Yuuummm... If only I could find a taco like this in Orlando...
google avatar

Yelp
Set smack dab in the middle of the Midtown Global Market, I've definitely plopped down in that main seating area, stared at this place and thought, "it can't be any good in a location like that; it's only trying to compensate." But seeing so many people stopping by, I decided to give it a shot and boy, was I sooo happy I was wrong. I got a taco al pastor and it was pretty well flavored. Got all the flavors necessary, juicy and hot and plenty of limes for you. But the star of my meal was my torta (not the cubano one, the other one, whatever they call it). OMG it is SO GOOD!!!! Mayo, avocados, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, beef (you can choose your meat) all between two well toasted light buns (do these every remind anyone of like a semi-brioche) omg, I was in heaven for those 10 minutes that I tried to fit this in my stomach. Oh yeah, did I mention this thing is HUGE? Also, I only paid like $8 plus tax for both of these delectables. Overall: I'm ashamed at my initial perception, because Los Ocampo, you got it going on!!!

Yelp
I recently wondered why the prices seemed so high , as I went today, I get it! The portions of the food we ordered were huge! The Pozole , with Chicken, red was soooooo good!! Huge bowl of soup that came with 2 Tostadas! So full I couldn't even eat the tostadas. My son ordered the Cubano sandwich, 24 year old can't eat a big ol sandwich . He was stuffed also, that was a big sandwich and Very Tasty! He was very pleased with his meal!! Yummm
google avatar

Jacob R.

Yelp
So I have only ordered one thing here but I have ordered it many times-I am addicted. Ezquite- the Mexican corn bowl. I order mine without anything spicy and it's simple yet delicious. Fresh corn off the cob in a bowl, a dab of mayo and then tons of the Mexican cheese. I don't like eating corn on the cob so this is a delight. It gets so creamy and decadent, I will try the tacos one day soon.

Yelp
I have eaten at this place a lot over the years and I keep coming back. It's situated in the awesome mid town globe market place. A fantastic setting! The food is made to order and is amazing. I am a sucker for the huarachazo. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
While my son was at Abbott, my daughter in law and I decided to go to the Global Market to find some lunch. We stopped here and the food we got was amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It was fresh and flavorful. The workers seemed to be working so hard and were so very friendly. All in all, a great experience. Looking forward to our next lunch there.

Yelp
Now that this crappy, cold, tit-freezing weather has forced itself upon us, once again I question why the hell I do this to myself every winter. Ugh. I just don't have the energy for it anymore. I want to go somewhere warm, sunny and flavorful. Too bad I lack both the PTO and the $. So what's a slightly depressed, teeth chattering girl gonna do? Make her way to the Midtown Global market, that what. I can do some travelling with my tastebuds all the while staying warm in a "mall" type atmosphere. One of my favorite spots in the MGM is Los Ocampo. The best tacos al pastor in the minneapple. Take a trip -- it will warm your windchilled heart. PS if you know of better al pastor, let me know...I'm on a hunt!
google avatar

Brittanie M.

Yelp
Huge portions and good prices. The hand-formed masa tortillas were stuffed with ingredients and were super delicious and filling. I got both a gordita and a quesadilla and it was way too much food for one meal. All the ingredients were fresh and generous. I would definitely frequent this place if I was closer!
google avatar

Yelp
I used to live in Mexico and grow tired of people telling me about the authentic Mexican food restaurants only to find it is very much American Mexican (which I like, but not authentic). I don't always walk around with that chip on my shoulder though. And it was amidst one of those rare lucid moments and with open mind hat I decided to give the Midtown Market location a try. I was glad I did. Most if not all (maybe all save the churros?) of the food is authentic. While I have tried several items on their menu I am a simple man at heart, and find I go for the cilantro / onion / carne asada tacos the majority of the time which are simply sublime with their (fresh / same day?) corn tortillas. Bonus: most weekday evenings (5 - 6ish?) they have some kind of music which is pretty great (or at least they used to). Nota buena: the website is unbearable.
google avatar

Dana J.

Yelp
This place has amazing food! Located inside the global market, this place seems to always be busy! It sucks that the only choice is Coke products but we sucked it up and ordered one. I ordered a chorizo burrito combo which came with a can of pop and a handful of tortilla chips and house made guac which was very delicious. The burrito was comparable to the size of a chipotle burrito, and I spent $9. Prices are reasonable. Food was nice and hot and fresh, and was made quickly. Lots of options for meat. My only complaint was the cashier didn't know what came on anything so the line took a little longer but we will still go back for sure!

Yelp
This review is specifically for the Global Midtown Market location, where I recently exchanged monies for a bowl of menudo. For the amount of monies I gave the nice lady, I received an unexpectedly large bowl. It came with soft, hot corn tortillas and lime. The broth is spicy, and perfect, and it smells like my grandma's kitchen. I ate the menudo, and it elicited feelings that I do not get when I eat lobster rolls or foie gras. Later that night, I continued to eat the menudo that I received for my monies. I microwaved it. Still tasted great. Menudo is hard to come by in the Twin Cities. This is the best out of 2 that I've tried. I gladly will continue to use paper monies to receive menudo and other items, such as pazole, from this restaurant.

Yelp
A regular lunch stop for me every time I can get to the Midtown Global Market. My favorite thing to order is their taco platter - your option of meats, rice, and beans. I also appreciate that they roast jalapenos and being a lover of hot - I mean really hot food - I usually take several. The cooks usually just stare at me, but what the heck - I like hot food. I've also tried the sope - pretty good, and the menudo - spicy tripe soup. Also, pretty good.

Yelp
We just popped in the Midtown Global Market location for a quick dinner last night, and I forgot how yummy Los Ocampo could be. The tacos here are served my favorite way, with just cilantro & onion, possibly a little salsa on the side. One taco comes with two tortillas, and enough meat for both tortillas. I also had a quesadilla, which was awesome. The tortilla was crisp, but somehow soft at the same time. It wasn't overflowing with cheese, but the chicken was so good that it made up for the lack of cheese. Boy got a giant burrito, as per usual. Delicious. I can't forget to mention their Horchata, which my Dad made me try and I promptly fell in love with. Overall, Los Ocampo is a great place for when you are just hungry for some good, simple Mexican food. And at $17.35 to absolutely stuff two people, you can't really pass it up.
google avatar

Ryan W.

Yelp
The food was good but the service was terrible. I ordered my meal and the person who prepared it set my meal on the other side of the counter out of reach of me after it was finished and said the number quietly to another employee. I was waiting for them to hand it to me but after a minute or so I had to ask them to hand it over to me. They didn't apologize or anything for the incident either. I would not recommend going there.

Srinidhi B.

Yelp
Tasty and well priced! We ordered hurarches and tacos with huitaliches and pumpkin flower. The portion was well sized and very tasty.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Great choice for Mexican at the Midtown Global Market! Food is always hot, authentic, delicious. Wish I had one closer!

Erick S.

Yelp
Honestly this place is very unsanitary if I could rate it 0 I would. Very disgusting. Saw how they were making the tacos and ask for my money back and cashier tried to argue with me that she could not give my money back. Very disappointed I would recommend La Loma! There food is great and never had any problems there!!
google avatar

S W.

Yelp
A OK I guess? More like OK. It's hard for me to really get pumped about these tacos with the absolute BEST tamales a door down and when the tacos are OK but not really standout, like some of the dishes at La Hacienda or Pineda. Tacos are just a more crowded competitive pond, and sadly this outpost of Los Ocampo doesn't really do it. Spice is brought, the salsas are way above par, but there was a sad, greasy lack of personality to the meats I had. Maybe I should have gone with the tinga, but I just wasn't feeling it. Service was really nice, that's a plus.
google avatar

Neal C.

Yelp
The burritos here are probably some of the best burritos I've ever had. I ordered a carnitas/steak burrito without sour cream, and was blown away by the size, quality, and quantity of meat. I'm thinking the burrito weighed around 2 pounds. It was gigantic! So delicious though, you will want to finish it even if it hurts to do so (you might regret it later... but it tastes so good!) I highly recommend the burritos and the tacos here, but I think the sopes and gorditas were just ho-hum. When you order, it does take a bit for them to prepare the food (it is not frozen/prepped beforehand-- so you know it's fresh) which is totally worth it for the extra three minutes since you know they are cooking it fresh for you. So delicious. Love this place.
google avatar

Shannon K.

Yelp
I always get the huarache, because the huarache at this place are on my top five meals list. I never order anything else because I can never get myself to miss out on one. I'm sure everything else is good (dining companions have been happy) and I'm sure I'd like other things, but yeah.
google avatar

Britta H.

Yelp
Stopped by around 5:00 this afternoon because Taco Cat had a long line. I had three veggie tacos and they were pretty good, better than chipotle or fast casual, but not the best I've ever had. Would definitely go back for a quick lunch break. The people who work there sometimes only speak Spanish, so if you're bilingual that's a huge plus.
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
This place is really amazing. The al pastor is addicting.

Rachel H.

Yelp
For some inexplicable reason, they refused to let me substitute vegetables for meat on something as simple as an order of nachos. The person at the register seemed deeply confused and concerned by my request, and after consulting her supervisor informed me that NOT placing meat onto a pile of chips with stuff on them would be impossible.

Tony A.

Yelp
Although they ran out of flan, the tacos here are as authentic as it gets. I had flor de calabaza, lengua, pork stomach, and barabacoa tacos. This place is always busy(in a good way), and people are in and out. The atmosphere is great, the music is good. I'll definitely be returning here soon.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
First visit, outstanding burrito comes with chips, guacamole, and green salsa. You get to pick your meat and fillings, I went with everything. The guacamole was fresh with little bits clearly recently hand? made as if by a potato masher, the burrito was absolutely outstanding but, perhaps on the pricey side $8.50 but, included the chips and Guacamole so maybe not. I love the Midtown Global Market and hit a different place to eat every time I am in the area.

Dillon P.

Yelp
let me start by saying i've been here 3/4 times before and was pretty satisfied. today i ordered enchiladas al pastor with the verde sauce, i'm assuming they were almost out of verde sauce? or maybe just weren't paying attention when they were putting it on? worst, driest enchilada ive ever had! the pastor pork was super dried out and chewy. there's really no room for mediocrity when there's 10+ taco/enchilada joints under 1 roof. lost this customer.
google avatar

Dave L.

Yelp
I've had the churros here only. It was delicious but the problem is I waited ten minutes just for these simple dessert.
