Wowow I love this place. The rice is too salty/seasoned in my opinion but everything else is phenomenal and I recommend the flautas! 🍋‍🟩🕊️ wonderful people and food.

This place is so amazing! Meat is to perfection cooked/seasoned and their salsas are for a truly spicy lover, chips are complimentary and that is always appreciated. They seem like a humble staff! The place is small but this is a true Mexican vibe and we appreciate it! Stop changing to fit neighborhood ethnicities stay true to the culture!

One of the best tacos I ever ate. No wonder why this place has good reviews. Only open for delivery and takeout. I ordered Chorizo tacos. They also have complementary chips and salsa. You’ll find others food items as well apart from tacos. Must try if you’re around Ukrainian Village.

Heard a lot about this place so we decided we finally had to stop here and eat. The location is on a six Corner intersection and there's a lot of construction currently going around so it's a little difficult to navigate. They do have a small parking lot in the back which is convenient as there is very little parking nearby. It's an old building with white concrete blocks More reminiscent of an old hamburger Shack than a Mexican food restaurant, but the interior was clean and both the indoor and outdoor was colorfully decorated. The seating area is small with just a handful of tables, it looks like they do a lot of carryout business. We ordered the Jaliciense dinner plate that consists of steak, pork and stuffed pepper as well as rice beans and salad. Our other order was a carne asada steak burrito which is served with beans, onions, cilantro, tomato, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream. The food was really good, however, I really like my stuffed pepper. When we were leaving I asked the person behind the counter if it was possible to get a dinner plate of just stuffed peppers and she told me that yes they would be able to make it for me. I guess I know what I will be ordering next time I eat here. I understand that they are known for their tacos al pastor, we will just have to try those on our next visit also. Prices are good especially the dinner plates considering all the food that you receive. Will definitely be back here.

Was driving by and had to stop in after checking out all the great reviews… it’s a cute little counter service taqueria with a 2-3 tables and some bar seats. Ordered a marinated steak burrito with everything but lettuce….it was delicious. Comes with a house made red sauce (smoky hot) and a green jalapeño salsa. Staff was also friendly and fast. We’ll be back for more soon!

Mexican fare in a very friendly environment with a Latino vibe. It's not hard to spot this place from traffic as it sits right at the intersection. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant with decent space. Tacos are nice and some of them can get pretty hot so watch out for the sauces if you aren't spice tolerant.

Super tasty and authentic tacos for both vegetarians and meat eaters. Super cheap prices and very filling. Spicy fresh salsa and free nacho were yummy. Food was very hot and fresh. Small location but neat aesthetic inside. One of my favourite places I have eaten in Chicago, would highly recommend.

I ate here at least 3 times a week when I lived in Chicago. Their tacos are absolutely amazing and all of their dishes freshly made!! Definitely reccomend. I can't wait to visit Chicago and eat here again ❤

Some of the best tacos we've had in Chicago and our kids love their chicken quesadillas. My favorite is their Al pastor and asada. Everything we've ordered there has been delicious! There's very limited seating inside so not great for a group. We usually do takeout but there is a small parking lot which is nice.

This place has the best tacos I've tasted in the city! The owner is welcoming and kind. Fyi it's a small space to eat at. They also have music playing and a tv. I like that!

My first time going here and I can honestly say the food was amazing. Not only is the food great the service was phenomenal! It just felt so welcoming in there!

Wanted to try El Jalisciense for some time, the grilled steak smells that come from this place draw you in. However, it left much to be desired. Steak was decent but for $4-5 tacos, one would expect them to be regular size. They are not, also the sauces green & red were simply, meh. I also tried the Al Pastor, it was unimpressive. Overall it was just ok, the amount being charged doesn't not match up with what you get. It sure why it's rated to high, but it is in the north side which lacks good taquerias.

I just moved to the neighborhood and I wanted to try this place out, hearing good things. The other day I was super sick and just wanted some food to bring me life so my wife picked up a veggie burrito for me and it did not disappoint. Great portion size and way less bland then the usual veggie burritos I'm used to getting. Came with a small side of chips which was a nice surprise, as well as two salsas- the employee told my wife the red was super hot so I didn't touch that seeing as the green was hot enough! I am really stoked to have a spot with fast and friendly service and great food so close!

The ONLY reason I gave them a 4 is because I went in looking for a lomo taco and they haven't had them for years supposedly so they have to take that down lol, BUT the food was fantastic! Customer service was great, tacos were enormous, I bought three and only finished two. Most definitely will be heading back.

Seems that most places you go to get your taco's at always give you their best at a inflated price especially after Corvid. El Jalisciense is slightly different in the sense that yes, it is $4 a taco but you get a bag of freshly fried chips and super friendly attitude with any order. My favorite is the al pastor and boy I enjoyed every morsel with the fresh chips I got too. Parking is limited in their little lot but there is plenty of street parking.

Like the best Mexican restaurants, Taco El Jalisciense is a hole in the wall. ..well actually they stand alone on an intersection corner. They're very popular with locals, CPD and utility workers. That's usually a good sign. After my first visit I would've rated 4. Well that was years ago and my return visits have been all over the place. I just can't rate higher than 3 stars. The lack of consistency is the problem. I've had tacos and burritos with chicken, Al pastor and steak. The steak can be chewy and not seasoned well. It doesn't have that char that puts carne asada over the top either. It's tough to find amazing chicken tacos anywhere. The Al pastor is fine, but not memorable. I prefer Yoli's a few blocks East, but this is a solid option. Try em both and let me know what you think.

Food is great, service even better. Chicken burrito is a generous serving and delicious. Great decor as well!

Some of my fav tacos in Chicago stopped in on a rainy day for lunch. Little spot on the corner, maybe seating for about 6-8ppl. I got 2 Pastor, 1 chicken, 1 asada taco. Came with some fresh tortilla chips, honestly the best chips ever, so crunchy! Also a water bottle, came to $19. Tacos prices are a bit steep at $4 a taco, which I found to be pricey compared to other local taco spots. Food was a 5/5, giving a 4 star review for the price. I would come back for sure!

Steak burrito was $12 but very dry the meat was overcooked and seasoned heavily. Ground beef taco was really good though

I've been wanting to try for a few years. Originally I was planning on visiting the new Lola's across the street, but they were out of buns. I ordered a steak burrito. For $8 I was expecting more. The majority of the steak was in the center, but fell short on the ends. Lettuce seemed off, left an after taste. Unlikely to return. Very tiny dining area and the chips seemed old too.

This review is looong overdue, a truly magnificent authentic Taqueria sat exactly four blocks from mi casa. They've been around for ages and pretty much dominate from all aspects of what u look for in a place like this. Pastor- best of Steak - might even top it Price, efficiency, lights out Service - are you kidding me!? This place has it all. Look for the 100 Thai Bhat bill among the bevy of dinero framed throughout the place. I gladly gave, he enthusiastically received. Love this place.

Just So-So: 1.) The green salsa is horrible, think watered down already bad salsa. 2.) The Al Pastor does NOT have pineapple and is just ok, not Chi's Best. 3.) The Ribeye & Onion tacos have more ONIONS than meat. 4.) The tortilla chips are actually horrible. 5.) The prices are on the high side. 6.) Service was good, fast and attentive. 7.) The packaging was good, tinfoil to keep those tacos HOT! 8.) Everything just seemed watered down, tacos dripping like crazy!? 9.) Free Parking! 10.) Location not the best. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but I was far from impressed; may stop back if in area. SORRY Y'ALL!!

Let me start this review off my saying I have past this place for at least 20 years and never stopped!! Smdh!!!! My bad!! It's a tiny restaurant with seats for like 12 people. The small parking lot in the back has like eight parking spots. You step in it small but very clean. I went to the washroom and it was spotless!!! The lady at the counter gave me excellent service!! Now the on to the food.... I ordered Steak Enchiladas with red sauce, a small guacamole, a steak quesadilla and a large lemonade to go. My total came to $25.00. Good price it was made to order and a nice size. That steak quesadilla was the best quesadilla that I ever had in my life!!!!!!! The chihuahua cheese was melted perfectly. They add lettuce and tomato to it like a taco. Outstanding!!! The steak enchiladas were delicious!! Chihuahua cheese was melted to perfection on top the steak wasn't chewy! No grizzle at all. The rice was good. It wasn't what I was just to. It had a deep tomato rich flavor it was cooked well and complimented the enchiladas perfectly!!!! Now the beans were a little scorched so it was just aight. The guacamole has lots of lime and the ratio to avocado to onions was off. They added lots of onions. My drink was just ok too. I should have gotten a jarritos! The red salsa has a nice spicy kick with a chipotle smokiness to it!! All in all enjoyed my meal!! I will be back to this diamond in the rough!!!!

The Al pastor tacos are some of the best I've had in the city! They have a ton of meat and really good salsas to put on them. The guys working there are really cool and friendly. Definitely recommend! I'm going back tomorrow!!

I came specifically to try "the best taco al pastor" in Chicago. This is a bold statement, there are many regional recipes for al pastor, some with pineapple others without. Their al pastor is most definitely memorable. Served with lime, pickled jalapeño, and lettuce. I will be going back soon for more. Gracias, los tacos estuvieron buenísimos!

I remember when this place opened. Nice little, off the path place, with a focus on the steak. So, plenty of flavor added to the skirt steak, but also on the grill. This is a solid option, in a sea of options. Sauces are fine, rice and beans are flavorful. A win!

Great spot for lunchtime burritos! I highly recommend. Staff are friendly and there is parking lot making it easy to stop y for lunch.

Top 3 taco spots in the Chicagoland area hands down ! My favorite taco spot actually the asada tacos are super fire the workers there are super cool down to earth guys n girls Delicious food and drinks! They have five different Aguas frescas flavors to choose from Horchata is my favorite. Highly recommend this spot if you haven't ate here already y'all missing out.

I dig "Hole in walls" where you can get at least medium tasty food and filling at minimal price.Well tried this place for dinner with a friend and the experience was Ok. Friend ordered Steak Taco which were smoking hot with large amount of Steak which she mentioned was pretty good.I ordered a Falutta Pollo dinner (Rice,Beans,lettuce,avocado with sour cream topped on falutta) which was filling and fresh but taste was not that great. Pros: ------- Free Tortilla chips Free Parking Decent Price and Good Portion Quick service Friendly Staff Funky Ambience Restrooms(Not sure on Hygiene) I would recommend you guys to try this place and see if something appeals to you.

Nexr to los camales and El Guerero on commercial these are among the best in the city. You cant go wrong with the burritos or tacos but everything is good here. Friendly service, great food with fresh ingredients and reasonably priced. Its on the corner of Grand and Chicago .... you cant miss it, Grab a bottled coke to wash it all down ....you'll thank me later.

Hidden gem! The steak and egg breakfast or Guadalajara dinner are the best things ever. Shrimp tacos are a close second. Recommended for sure, just get there before 12.

I came in for a quick lunch meal. Found on Yelp just browsing. Couldn't have chosen a better random place to try. I ordered 3 steak tacos, lettuce, onion, cilantro, & tomato. Got just that. Tacos were loaded with flavor. Decent grade of beef. My order was also completed quickly. The food was fresh and hot. This place is cool. I'd come back!

I hate to leave a bad review for a business in the neighborhood. I really had some high hopes for this place after driving past the place for the last ten years and reading the glowing reviews. After eating here recently, I honestly have no idea where these super high ratings and rave reviews come from. As far as my taste goes, any other taco place in the area - including several grocery stores, have a better steak taco and better salsa verde. I found the steak to really be lacking in flavor and texture, and the salsa verde to be very watery. I've been to Mexico City several occasions, and am a huge fan of tacos al pastor when it's done the right way. I was really hoping that their rendition would do my memories of having these in Mexico some justice, particularly after winning an award for these not too long ago. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case either. I found the al pastor to be really disappointing. I'm still wondering how it can be remotely possible that this place has "the best al pastor in Chicago." It's gotta be better than this, folks. As for a positive, I did enjoy their red salsa. It had a very nice level of heat and smoky flavor. Unfortunatley, I'm not quite sure if it is worth putting on anything at this establishment. To make things worse, for 6 tacos and a side of rice and beans, our bill came to just under $22 plus tip - which is fairly expensive . With so many other places to get more delicious offerings at a better price, I have no plans on giving this place another shot.

Honestly and no exaggeration, the best place to get tacos! The meat alone is extremely flavorful since it's been marinating for a couple days! I've been dying to go there after I saw a video of it on YouTube, and it was definitely worth the trip. First time there was amazing! Even the employees were friendly and the owner/ cook is an awesome guy who made the experience better. Not only do you get a great food experience but you also get treated well and with respect. Overall will give this place a 5 out of 5 every time!

i got the al pastor tacos and and some agua frescas, so good i loved it and the staff are super friendly and have super cute dogs and i loved the salsa too!!

I have been a customer for three years, this is a hidden gem in Chicago. The best tacos and burritos that I have had in my life. My personal favorites are steak tacos and burritos. If you are vegetarian, their veggie burrito is heavenly. Another one of my favorites is their salsa verde. It is rich in flavor and unlike any I have had in the past. Staff is extremely friendly and prices here are great. Highly recommend.

Probably the best al pastor in the city. Cheap, quick, large portions, and flavorful food. What more can you ask for? Chips are crispy & slightly oily just how I like it. Rice is also crispy and well seasoned. Beans are good & come with a topping of cheese. The food weighs a lot for what you get. Also they give you a good amount of napkins, utensils, and sauces. No question 5 star.

This is my favorite tacos spot ever!!!!! I have been coming here for years and it's the only place that has the best al pastor tacos. I live pretty far away from here but I make it my mission to come here to get the best tacos in Chicago. The salsas are also great and I always get an agua de tamarindo with my order. You don't think of Mexican food when you are driving through Humboldt Park but I just got word about Taco El Jalisciense from Chicago's Best. Located on Chicago and Grand Ave., this place is rocking al pastor on the spit worth noting. If you are a fan of al pastor (marinated pork), then you know how much of a treat it is when the meat is cooked on the spit. It's not that common since most places don't have the machinery for the vertical spit grill. It's the same device that is used to cook shawarma and gyros. Taco El Jalisciense has it and it's the first thing that you see when you walk in. Before you are tempted to order any other taco, make sure that you get an al pastor first simply with onions and cilantro. The grilled flavor from the spit and the hint of pineapple make this al pastor stand out. If you are not a fan of pork, then check out the lomo encebollado (marinated ribeye with onions). For only $2.75 a taco, I ended up getting three. This might cost a bit more than other places but each taco was stuffed with meat so it was well worth it.

I have been riding passed this place for a minute. Finally decide to stop inside after work. When I walked inside I was greeted with a friendly smile. The decor was amazing. I decide on the steak taco dinner tht comes with rice and beans. I couldn't wait to get home to taste this meal. The smell of my food was kicking in while I was driving home. Once I got home and started to eat um I was well satisfied with my taco dinner. The only thing my rice was a tad too salty. I had to mix my rice into the beans to kill some of that salt. Other than the rice being salty. I have no complaints about this place. I will be back again. I will just remember to let them know not to put any salt on my rice

Great steak tacos! Haven't had good tacos in a long time. Food and service is awesome. Even during COVID and cold, they are always so nice and pleasant.

The chorizo, al pastor and lengua were all tasty but the asada was a bust. Onions and cilantro were super fresh also. But the strange thing here? The sauces on the table were terrible. Runny, not very tasty, hilariously cold and right out of the fridge in my case. The chips that were served with my dine-in order also won't set the earth on fire. The space here is small and the lines can get long during the lunch hour, so expect to wait 20-30 minutes to get your order like I did last Friday. Also, prices are a little high for this location; $12 for four tacos felt at least a dollar, maybe two, too high. Parking out back!!

Excellent service great prices and very friendly. Was filling and conveniently located by the bus stop. Not too spicy for people like me who don't like spices. Need some good flan though. Will go back.

Huge plates, you will be full and happy after eating here. I saw reasonable prices for tacos (under $3 each) so figured they were little. Ordered the three taco plate with different types of tacos and they came on their own plate, I received a whole other plate of rice and beans, plus a chips basket. I'd highly recommend the chile relleno taco. The salsas were good too. Thick, spicy, and tasty.

This place SMACKS! The steak tacos and burritos are fire, and the al pastor is perfect!

I live across the street from this place and they always have food ready for pick up within 15min or so. They're generous with their salsas and their tortas are very big. Their tortas are fantastic - tripa and skirt steak are my favorite. It's well priced and avo is included :). They always have a line at the door for pick ups so you can tell people love it.

The Al pastor and steak were pretty good here but the rice was a little salty and quite oily. The limonada was NOT fresh which was disappointing. It tasted like it was made from the packet mix.
